The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

>> "No…Don't worry, we are not going to hurt you, okay? We have seen all kinds of mutations at work here, this is not the first accident that happened."
Yeah, accident, Agnes thought to herself as she frowned a little. All she really wanted to do now was get away. To leave the accusing eyes, return to her room, pack her things and simply leave. It would be better that way. How could she dare think that this place would be any different than all the others? There was always going to be someone or a group of someones who found her abilities to be utterly disgusting and that to be sufficient reason enough to torment her. This blonde proved to be no different than the rest of them.
But the more she stood there and glanced between the kindly looking grandfather figure and the dark skinned woman, the more uncomfortable she felt. Not because she thought that they were going to harm her, no, far from it. The problem was that they looked like such kind and understanding people that all they would want to do was help. And helping her could lead to some dangerous situations.
A glance at them and she knew that if either of them ever found out what she had really been through, what her parents put her through, they would do all they could to help. But helping was…well…it was not going to help. More than likely it would make matters worse. They would get in contact with her parents and of course her parents would find out where she was. She did not want that in the least. She could not go to those butchers, never again. She promised herself that.
She took a calming breath and glanced up to see that the woman was staring at her again. The blond whom she had “attacked” was being treated…she would get out of this mess unscathed. That was bittersweet for Agnes. She could only pray she learned her lesson. After that musing she finally focused on the woman again who had addressed her.
"So, your mutation deals with insects, right? That's how she got stung…What's your name?"
Silently she rolled her eyes. Why did people have to pry?
“Agnes…my name is Agnes.” she muttered as she kept her arms crossed over her chest. “In a way..yes it is. T-They live…inside me.” She left it at that as she stared defiantly at the tall woman. “Anything else you need to know?”

>>“Agnes…my name is Agnes. In a way..yes it is. T-They live…inside me. Anything else you need to know?”
"Oh yes, lots." Gemma nodded, glancing over at Faye, who was being healed my Doc. She had to smirk at his wisdom; even he picked up on the way the two girls looked at each other, and noticed that maybe there was a lesson there to learn.
"So, Agnes, let me see if I got this right: you have bugs living inside you, that is your mutation... and that is why Faye here sprayed you with bug spray, which made your bugs angry, and she got stung." she looked at both girls, folding her arms "Am I on the rigt track here?"
Doc smirked, and didn't say anything. If he healed Faye, he would know, and she probably knew that too. That way, it was easier to convince her to tell the truth. One way or another, Doc and Mama would find out the truth.
Faye dangled her legs from the doctors table, affecting an air of nonchalance as she pretended she wasn’t listening to the conversation between Miss Taylor and the ‘bug girl’.
>>>“Agnes…my name is Agnes.”
Hmmm, so bug girl had a name. Names where good as they let you know who to blame.
>>>“In a way..yes it is. T-They live…inside me.”
Faye stuck her tongue out a make a vomiting motion as Agnes told Miss Taylor about herself. Bugs inside you? Ewwww, that was gross. Why would you want that?
The doc rolled his eyes at her gesture and tapped her tongue with the cotton swab he was using to apply the medicine causing her to wrinkle her nose at the unpleasant taste.
>>>“Anything else you need to know?”
Yeah, when are you leaving so I can help you pack.
>>>"So, Agnes, let me see if I got this right: you have bugs living inside you, that is your mutation... and that is why Faye here sprayed you with bug spray, which made your bugs angry, and she got stung." "Am I on the rigt track here?"
“Well you missed out the roach she put in my glass of water or all the FREAKIN’ BUGS EVERYWHERE!” interjected Faye with a little more vigour than she had intended.
Sighing she looked over at Miss Taylor “Listen I was just cleaning, ‘aint no rule about that. Bugs are dirty FACT! It isn’t sanitary” she finished adding a nasty tilt to the word ‘sanitary’ as she glanced at Agnes. “I’m the victim here” she added looking around “I’m the one with all the stings! I didn’t do anything wrong and I don’t think it’s fair that I be punished”
"I'm always getting punished and it's never my fault!"
>> "So, Agnes, let me see if I got this right: you have bugs living inside you, that is your mutation... and that is why Faye here sprayed you with bug spray, which made your bugs angry, and she got stung…Am I on the rigt track here?”

Agnes was a good listener. Back when she used to live at home, she there were many times when her parents made her go through drills of listening to speech so that they would properly get the word of God out to the masses. If there was one thing she managed to get from them, it was listening closely to when people talked. That was how you got whether someone was sincere, full of bull, or were not ready to be converted. It was all in the way people talked. As much as she hated her parents right now, some of their lessons still stuck with her and in all honestly, many times that kept her alive.
Sanitary. The particular emphasis on that word and the pointed look at her and Agnes knew that the blonde was talking about her. This only made her narrow her eyes in frustration.
Could she really never escape her type of person? The evil hearted people who took only the deepest of pleasures in hated what they did not know or did not understand? Why did Agnes have to be her target? All she did was sit in the kitchen and eat and apple and before she knew it she was having bug spray pointed at her! Of course she knew that her abilities were partially to blame, but still…she did not deserve that.
Agnes took a shaky breath as she glanced up towards the tall woman who had questioned her. She had laid out the scenario pretty perfectly to the point that she had to nod in response. It really seemed like the woman was willing to listen to both sides of the story and that made put her just a little more at ease. But the incessant nagging of that blonde’s voice simply got to Agnes. And it was next words that hammered the last nail in the coffin of how much she disliked her…and made her snap…
>> “I’m the victim here…I’m the one with all the stings! I didn’t do anything wrong and I don’t think it’s fair that I be punished…I'm always getting punished and it's never my fault!"[/color]
Before everyone’s eyes, a half-eaten apple core flew through the air and directly for the blonde. There was a splat and smack sound as the core struck the blonde on the forehead, near one of the man sting marks that the girl had just received from the swarm that lived inside Agnes’ chest. The sloppy remains of the apple were sticky and ran down the whining teenager’s forehead as Agnes stood there, looking exasperated beyond all belief.
She had had enough.
The runaway looked ready to explode, red faced as she glared straight at the blonde with no hint of compassion for her. Her voice mirrored that sentiment as she spoke with a low, angry, trembling voice that could have broken concrete if she had aimed it at the wall.
“Oh will you just shut up you bleach-blonde, whining-voiced, overly-hysterical, so-do-not-have-the-figure-to-be-wearing-those-jeans sorry excuse for a drama queen!” Agnes gasped a little as she took a breath. “I’ve only met you five minutes ago and I’m ready to do what I did you the first time AGAIN! Not everything is about you!!” she took another breath as she then turned to face the tall woman and the doctor. “Yes, my bugs did sting her but that was only after she decided to spray bug spray into my face! I can’t control them when they sense danger and she threw pesticide at them! She started all this and she got what she deserved.”
She turned to storm out of the doctor’s office. Agnes was done here. She did not want to be confined to a place where all she made were enemies. If the blonde had any friends at all here, she was sure they would try to make her life miserable. There was no need for that. It would simply be best if she left. Better for everybody.
But before she exited she turned and glared back at the blonde.
“And I didn’t put that roach in your glass of water. Personally I don’t know what living creature would want to get that close to your mouth!”

Gemma sighed and tried not to roll her eyes - Faye's little tirade was starting to get dangerously close to a temper tantrum, and sh had always hated those. The girl was obviously more hurt in her pride than she was in her body, Doc was making sure of that.
"Faye, take a breath, and calm down..." she started... but Agnes was faster. The apple hit Faye right on the forehead. It was a pretty good shot. Even for a bad, bad thing to do.
>>“Yes, my bugs did sting her but that was only after she decided to spray bug spray into my face! I can’t control them when they sense danger and she threw pesticide at them! She started all this and she got what she deserved.”
"All right, that's enough" Gemma said in a stern voice; she left it to DocProf to restain Faye in case she wanted to get revenge. He was good at doing that. In the meantime, Gemma hurried after Agnes. One thing she was not willing to do was to let her walk out of the school.
"Hold on, Agnes." she called out as she caught up to her on the corridor "Hey. I need to talk to you." she walked closer, taking Agnes by the arm "Don't worry while you are with me, you are safe." she promised, looking into her eyes "My aura cuts off mutant powers. Your bugs can't hurt me, even if they wanted to."
Instead of letting her walk down the corridor, Gemma pulled the girl into an emply room nearby. "Take a seat. We need to talk." she told her, and waited until she did so. "I don't want you to leave the Mansion." she said simply "And I don't think you want to leave either."
Faye sat there stunned by the girls tirade as the remains of the apple ran down her face, drama queen? Moi?
>>> “All right, that’s enough” Faye heard Miss Taylor say before she hurried out of the room after Agnes.
“What? No! That’s not enough, I demand she be….expelled or something” she cried out as she tried to jump down off the table.
“I think it’s best if you stay here dear” the doctor interjected, laying a hand on her shoulder to stop her getting down.
Wriggling Faye turned her head up to look at him “What? Get off me! Let me go! Didn’t you hear what she said?”
Smiling sadly he soothed his voice and smiled sadly “So she called you a drama queen, Sticks and stones Faye. Sticks and stones”
A look of confusion crossed Faye’s face, Clearly the Doc was grasping the wrong end of the stick. “dubyah tee eff old man not that! She said I didn’t have the figure to pull of these jeans! These jeans rock, I rock. Match.
It was needless to say that Agnes was absolutely fuming over what had just occurred in the medical office. The blond had been such a brat that Agnes would have liked nothing more than to simply sock her in the nose! But Agnes was in enough trouble with what the swarm did to her back in the kitchen. The apple did the job…though judging from the sound of the woman who chased her out into the hallway…maybe it was not such a good option. Still, Agnes could comfort herself with the fact that she nailed the blonde pretty good in the forehead with that apple core.
But just as she thought she could achieve some freedom, that tall woman came closer, apparently her name was Ms. Taylor. At least that is what she overheard the blonde say.
>> "Hold on, Agnes…Hey. I need to talk to you…Don't worry while you are with me, you are safe…My aura cuts off mutant powers. Your bugs can't hurt me, even if they wanted to."
For that brief second Agnes stared at the woman confused. She was still irritated by the situation but for some reason she could not feel the angry swarm buzzing in her chest. The unwanted touch on her arm, the intimidating look of the woman, none of it seemed to set off the swarm within her. Maybe she did have the ability to stop mutant powers. Agnes…she even noted that she SMELLED different! The insect scent was gone and she really did start to feel like herself again. She stared at the woman in awe and let her drag her into a room off to the side, still marveling that her abilities were not active. It was almost like a miracle.
>> "Take a seat. We need to talk." she told her, and waited until she did so. "I don't want you to leave the Mansion." she said simply "And I don't think you want to leave either."
Agnes reluctantly took the seat and sat there, watching the woman as she attempted to connect with her. To be honest she was definitely the intimidating type. She scared Agnes a little and try as she might, she did not want to let it show. But on top of all that, the woman really did have some clarity. It was true, she really did not want to leave this place just yet, especially after having just arrived and starting to get used to the way things ran. But deep down, she also knew that there were a lot of people she was not going to get along with and the blonde in the other room was a perfect example of that.
“It doesn’t matter what I want. Look, I’m already wearing out my welcome, okay?” she sighed as she crossed her arms over her chest and looked away from her. “The first thing that girl is going to do is spread all over campus what I did to her and that will start it all. I’ve been through it before and I’m not about to have everyone in the school look at my strange, act scared around me, or want to hurt me for what I did. It…It’s just better I leave now, okay?”
She stood up now and began to pace the room. The tears welled up in the corners of her eyes but she would not allow herself to cry just yet. Not right now, not when she was trying her damnedest to be a brick wall. The streets taught her to be tough and she had to maintain that, she simply had to. Eventually she would be kicked out of this place and when that happened, she had to be sure she could retain that steel heartedness that she had grown accustomed to.
“I’m sorry…for what I did,” she whispered as she glanced Ms. Taylor again. “But I can’t go through another school full of glares and whispers. I can’t. Even if this is a school for mutants…its insects. That doesn’t mesh well with anyone.” she sniffled as she faced a wall and gently pressed her forehead against it. How she wished she could just disappear.

>>“I’m sorry…for what I did. But I can’t go through another school full of glares and whispers. I can’t. Even if this is a school for mutants…its insects. That doesn’t mesh well with anyone.”
"Neither does turning people into stone, or electrocuting someone" Gemma pointed out calmly "Don't think you are the only one in the world with a problematic mutation. You are not, trust me."
She looked at the girl. She truly was ready to give up, and run away again. It was always easier to run from your problems, that much was certainly true.
"I am not saying everything will be shiny and happy if you stay. It will be hard work, and conflicts, and then more hard work." she continued "But this is literally your only chance to learn to control your powers and live with them." she said "Take me, for example. There are people like me out there, some of them helping mutants, and... some of them using their advantage to hurt them. So I am here to teach you what to do if you meet someone like me. Also" she smiled a bit "I am here if you want to take a break from your abilities. As school counselor, that's my job too."
She sat down, still looking at the girl.
"I am not going to keep you here if you want to go. But there will be conflicts and stupid people wherever you want to go, and this is one of the few places where people actually want to help you deal with this. I would hate to see you walk out on this."
>> "I am not saying everything will be shiny and happy if you stay. Also…I am here if you want to take a break from your abilities. As school counselor, that's my job too."
The words hit Agnes hard. She knew that they were true. Nothing worth doing ever comes easy, she learned that the hard way. She wanted freedom after what her parents did to her so she ran away and chose the hard life of living on the streets. It was difficult and many times she found herself crying, but if there were one thing she were sure of, was that it was better than living where she had been. Besides the sad days of tears and anger at her parents, there were some days living in the alleys in which she actually felt a type of happiness. She was free from their zealot attitudes and she was living by her own rules for a change. It was hard…but it was worth it at the time.
Now she was faced with the same decision.
Agnes looked up at the counselor and sighed deeply. This mansion really did seem like a great haven, and a perfect place for her to slowly start to get her life back together. She saw students learning, getting an education not only in academia but also in how to hone their natural, mutated abilities. It would be good knowledge to gain.
But the piece of information that really drew her attention was the woman’s proclamation that she could give her a “break” from abilities. At first Agnes never noticed but now, even though she was still upset at what that blonde did to her, that familiar buzzing was not coming from her chest. Usually the slightest bit of irritation caused the swarm to become active, but they were dormant right now. Even the smell! That smell that wafted off her at all times to attract insects was gone. She looked up and noticed that the few flies that had appeared in the room began to fly about blindly now, trying to escape through a crack in the door. It was amazing, they weren’t attracted to her.
Tearfully she looked back to the woman, sniffling at the idea that for just this moment in her life…she was normal again.
>> "I am not going to keep you here if you want to go. But there will be conflicts and stupid people wherever you want to go, and this is one of the few places where people actually want to help you deal with this. I would hate to see you walk out on this."
Her eyes puffing from crying, her face still flushed from the yelling and such, she very slowly nodded as she returned to one of the chairs and sat across from the woman. She still could not really meet her eyes. The woman had an intimidation that reminded her too much of her mother, but at least this woman used it for good, not for some crazed belief. Maybe it wouldn’t be so bad to stay here. Finally she looked up…
“I…I don’t have any money for tuition. But…I was talking to one of the students. She said that there might be a way for me to come to school…I would like to do that if it is possible.” she whispered. It was not one of defeat, but one of someone who was finally taking the chance offered to them. “And…I’m sorry about the girl. I didn’t want them to attack her…it was reflex and I can’t control them when they are released.”

And…I’m sorry about the girl. I didn’t want them to attack her…it was reflex and I can’t control them when they are released.”
Gemma smiled. It was not easy to convince her - but then again, se suspected Agnes had been longing for a place like this to begin with, even if she did not say so.
"Don't worry about the tuition, we'll take care of everything." she smiled, putting a hand on her shoulder "And don't worry about Faye either. She'll be fine, you saw that; Doc could have healed her in seconds if he wanted to. She's bit of a drama queen." she smirked "You have a room already, right? I'll look through your file, and let you know if we need any more information. For now, you are one of our students." she smiled at the girl "So, Agnes, is there anything I can help you with? Anything else you would like to talk about?"
>> "Don't worry about the tuition, we'll take care of everything."
Well that at least made Agnes breathe a little easier. The idea of free school, free room and board and not having to hide the fact that she was a mutant definitely sounded very good. Still, her incident with the girl, Faye, made her still remain a bit on edge. She did not want her whole experience tainted because of that girl and the big mouth she was sure to have. But at the same time, she could not let her dictate the rest of her life. She had a life to live and mutation or not, she was being given her chance…she had to take it.
Agnes said nothing more for the time being as the woman asked if she had a room and went on to explain that she was going to be going through her files. The notion made Agnes feel a little uncomfortable, but she had said nothing about it. The woman was a counselor right? So reading the student profiles was bound to be part of her job. Still, the concept made her feel just the smallest bit iffy. The last thing she needed was the woman to pry. Prying led to uncomfortable questions: how did you find yourself here? Why did you run away from home? Didn’t you love your parents? What did they do that was so bad.
She could always go the silent route and say nothing about how her past played out, but this counselor seemed like a woman who could not let anything drop. If she so much as got the smallest hint about what she ran away from…that could lead her to behind involved and Agnes definitely did not want that.
>> "So, Agnes, is there anything I can help you with? Anything else you would like to talk about?"
“No.” was all she said as she began to rebuild that wall of resistance that kept any and everyone out. As cold as it seemed, it was purely for her own protection. No matter how much that woman would like to help, she could not know about her past…she just could not and would not. But finally, after a few moments of awkward silence, she glanced up to Ms. Taylor again and nodded to the door. “Um,” she started as she protectively wrapped her arms around herself, reinstating the physical barrier that would keep the woman away from both her emotional and physical scars, “C-Can I go now?”

>>“No. Um. C-Can I go now?”
"Yes you can." Gemma stood, opening the door for her; there would be plenty of time for conversations later on, when she was less scared and confused. She had all the time in the world. And she was patient.
"Agnes, I would like you to promise me something." she said, once they were both standing in the doorway "Whatever happens to you, whatever trouble you get in, I would like you to promise to come to me first. I am not going to keep you here against your will, that's my promise to you, but before you run off, or do something on your own, please come and talk to me. I'd hate to just find you gone." she smiled at her "It's gonna be all right. Go now, I'll go back to Doc and check on Faye."
Walking out, she turned back one more time.
"And Agnes? Don't worry about her, seriously. She'll be fine."
