The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

They had escaped. Meld felt an acute sense of relief at that which mingled with her irritation that the cops hadn't just done the intelligent thing and let them go right from the beginning. They were, especially the water cop, traitors to their people, plain and simple. If they weren't both mutants and if Meld didn't have history with the air mutant, she would have marked them for dead right then and there. She was still tempted to do so, despite their blood and the fact that she didn't kill mutants. At the very least she wanted to mark them, cut their faces so that the world could see them for the traitors they were. In fact, that was sounding more and more appealing by the minute, allowing her to maintain her moral prohibition against killing mutants, while at the same time sending a very effective message. Next time, she vowed, if she ever encountered either of them again she would permanently scar them, mark them for traitors.
"I'm fine," Meld answered the scorpion woman. Now that the water had fallen off of her, aside from being a bit wet, she actually was fine. Oh, what a wonderful thing being able to breathe was. One didn't appreciate it until it was taken away. "I suggest we return to Sanctuary. Lori will want a report and neither of us want to stick around just in case one of the cops are more proactive than usual and actually seek out the rooftops."
"I wish the world was such that you didn't need to learn to kill," Meld shook her head sadly before setting off again. It was true, she wished no mutant needed that skill but in the world they lived with, mutants and humans battled every day and that battle would never be won unless there were those willing to take the final step in taking a life.

Jorge
“Yeah,” he said a bit solemnly. “They got away.”
Though the truth really hurt, Jorge was at least glad that it was over. He knew that at least with the were-scorpion and the cyborg gone, no other officers would have to die. In the end though, it saddened him because they were on the loose. Who knows what atrocities will come about from this event, especially concerning the cyborg. If she were as cruel and murderous as the fallen officer had stated then the detective knew he would be hearing from her again. He only hoped that by that time lady luck will be on his side.
He watched in shock as the hostage suddenly materialized and fell to the ground with a loud thump. Jorge immediately knelt down and took his pulse. Once he noticed that the man was still alive and that he would be fine, Jorge stood up and looked around the empty street. The flashing red and blue lights of the coming back up suddenly appeared at the sides of buildings as they tore through the streets, all headed directly for them.
“Better late than never,” he muttered to himself as he looked back up to the rooftops.
Part of him really wanted to follow those two, to try and bring them in before they cause anymore harm. But he knew that neither he, nor the X-man seemed to be in any condition to do such. It was then that Jorge felt his head get light. He had momentarily forgotten about the fact that he had pushed his abilities back there during the fight. His head swam as his body screamed for rehydration. The detective staggered back to his car and pulled open the backdoor. At the floor was a twenty-four pack box of bottled water. He grabbed two, opened on, and took a deep drink.
He immediately felt the refreshment as he continued to greedily swallow the water. He could feel the effect work throughout his body as he was rehydrated. He walked back towards the slowly reappearing X-Man and handed the bottle of water to her.
“Thanks for the assist back there,” he said a nod. “Don’t know how things would have turned out if you were not here.”
As he said this, he looked up and noted that the back up were finally coming into sight. The large SWAT van and the polices cars were driving fast. Too bad they missed the whole thing. Jorge sighed as he looked back to the fallen cop and only shook his head. He had no idea how this was going to go down.
