The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Worms shook his head, his worms emulating their controllers motion. He also waggled a finger back and forth.
"Tsk tsk tsk...I wouldn't lie Miss Kaitlyn. Only naughty children lie, and only naughty children get punished..."
The worms blocking Kaitlyn from leaving slowly began to wrap around her legs. They didn't squeeze, but they gripped hard enough for the girl's legs to be stuck to the floor.
"Now, do you want to keep lying to Uncle Worms or can I pretty...pretty...please...have the right answer?" Worms said as his worms clicked menacingly.

How does he know I'm lying? Why does he want me to show him around so much?
Kaitlyn continued to back away until she felt something wrapping itself around her leg. One of the worms got her! She tried to jerk the away, but it wouldn't budge, and soon her other leg was just as immobilized. No matter how she struggled, they just kept wrapping themselves around her, engulfing more and more of her legs each second. The girl panicked.
>>"Now, do you want to keep lying to Uncle Worms or can I pretty...pretty...please...have the right answer?"
"No!" The kid almost screamed the word, but it was almost entirely drowned out by the explosion.
...You've heard stories about me? Don't listen to them! It's safe to sit next to me, really!
The worms wrapped around Worms splattered in a fleshy, slimy crunch. Worms cried in pain as they died, but their sacrifice had saved the man from breaking his back against the door behind him. The worms wrapped around Kaitlyn also exploded, sending slime and blood everywhere.
Worms slid down the wall slowly, groaning in pain, his eyes closed shut.

Everything now looked blurry to the kid. A big blurry blob, which was probably Worms, groaned at the end of the hallway. Slime and bloody worm guts had gone everywhere, incuding Kaitlyn's clothing, and it all smelled absolutely terrible. Almost as terrible as it probably looked. For once she was thankful for this particular side effect of her mutation.
She tried not to throw up.
Succeeding at this, she now faced a dilemma: this creepy guy probably wasn't very happy with her. He probably wanted to get her in trouble over trying to get past the "DANGER: KEEP OUT" door. The guy had good reasons to be upset; his disgusting little friends were dead now, and it was her fault. Not that she was sorry. Unless she wanted to get in trouble, Kaitlyn decided that she had to stop him from telling.
The child approached Worms and poked him on the forehead to get his attention. "Hey."
Kaitlyn tried to make her voice sound as intimidating as possible. "Try something like that again, or tell anyone about me trying to get in there," she rapped on the slime- and gut-covered door, "And you'll end up like your friends."
The little girl stared at Worms expectantly.
...You've heard stories about me? Don't listen to them! It's safe to sit next to me, really!
Worms opened an eye, sitting on the ground covered in slime, blood, and his back against the "DANGER: KEEP OUT" door. After a short pause, Worms did only one thing:

Blink.
Worms was... laughing? After his worms got splattered, and after threats of being splattered? Kaitlyn frowned in confusion as her vision came back into focus. Why is he so happy!? I threatened to blow him up!
Tentatively, she accepted the smiling man's handshake.
When that was over with, she stepped back to survey the mess that she made. She thought about the guys who had to clean up the dining hall when she blew that up, who had to pick up the pieces of the pool table a few days ago, and who had to put the laundry room and half of the cars back together when she wrecked them. These people were not fond of her. They were going to be furious when they saw -- and smelled -- this.
Kaitlyn quickly tried to turn her thoughts to something else. "Uhh... you look pretty bad." she said eventually, turning back to Worms. "Should I get someone from the infirmary?"
...You've heard stories about me? Don't listen to them! It's safe to sit next to me, really!
Worms tried to sit up, but something in his back popped. Worms grunted in pain and shook his head.
"No no no, that would make the deal useless. Think kid, you just gotta think." Worms said, holding his stomach. He felt his worms spawning inside of him, their long slimy bodies wiggling as they grew. They'd be fully grown within a five minutes, give or take a few seconds.
"I'll be okay in a few minutes. Mind keeping a friend company?" Worms smiled his creepily sweet smirk again, patting the ground next to him.

People from the infirmary would make the deal useless? This made very little sense, but Kaitlyn didn't want the deal to be useless. She didn't want to get in trouble for trying to go into the keep-out-room.
Well, at this point it looked like she would get in more trouble for getting worm guts everywhere than she would for trying to get into that room. This was a mess of epic proportions. She wrinkled her nose. A big, smelly mess of epic proportions. It sure sucked to be part of the cleanup crew today. They were going to hate her.
>>"I'll be okay in a few minutes. Mind keeping a friend company?"
"...Sure." She hesitantly chose a spot a bit further away from Worms on the adjacent wall. A spot which was, thankfully, bereft of worm-guts.
...You've heard stories about me? Don't listen to them! It's safe to sit next to me, really!
Worms waited for his friends to respawn. The process was very painful. Imagine being stabbed in the stomach with a rusty knife, then having salt rubbed into the wound as the knife twisted around. It normally wasn't this bad, but all five worms had died all at the same time.
His eyes partially closed, his face twisted in surpressed pain, Worms looked over to Kaitlyn.
"So, I take...take it you make boo...booms..." The mutant said, stuttering slightly. His right hand gripped his rapidly growing abdomen, his left clenched in a fist, the knuckles bone white.
"Seems pretty hand...handy." Worms laughed raggedly, then kept quiet for the next frew minutes. Soon, his worms had respawned, and the man got up on shaking legs.
"Now, lets take care of the mess, shall we?" Worms said to the child, his new worms slithering out of his body, ravenously devouring both the slime and guts of their brethren. A few of them clicked angrily at Kaitlyn, but stopped after a stern glare and kick from their controller. Holding out a hand, Worms offered to help Kaitlyn up.
"Don't mind them. They're always hungry...and you seem like the perfect treat. I won't let them eat you though dear. Promise..." Worms smirked.

Kaitlyn stared at the man as he spoke. He was obviously in excruciating pain. His belly was... inflating like a balloon?
That couldn't possibly be healthy. She decided against asking him if he was okay, though; the kid had just threatened him. You couldn't threaten somebody, then turn around and ask if he's okay, it seemed. Kaitlyn realized that she shouldn't have even asked about the infirmary in the first place.
>>"Now, lets take care of the mess, shall we?"
The child was about to protest, but then she saw the new worms, who were apparently cannibals. She derived a certain satisfaction from the man kicking at his worms.
>>"...I won't let them eat you though dear. Promise..."
Kaitlyn took the man's hand. "I'm not gonna let them eat me, either," she said flatly. "Promise," she added with a smirk.
The sound of footsteps echoed through the basement's hallways. "What the hell am I smelling?" shouted a man's voice. The footsteps got louder and faster until the man appeared at the end of the hallway, where he stood in place and stared. His jaw dropped as his eyes moved between a blood-soaked kid, a gore-covered man, worm cannibalism, and the hallway's new paint job.
After a few moments of shocked silence, he crossed himself and mumbled something, still staring.
...You've heard stories about me? Don't listen to them! It's safe to sit next to me, really!
Worms slowly turned to the man. His head tilted, looking both slightly curious and slightly angry.
"I'm sorry sir. Can you repeat that..." Worms said, telepathically directing his worms. The monsters slithered forward, clicking excitedly. Suddenly, they stopped, the muscles just behind their "heads" bunching up. After a split second pause, the worms shot forward like darts, their powerful muscles allowing them to instantly wrap around them man. As their prey tried to struggle, Worms finished his sentence, walking forward slowly.

It took Kaitlyn about five second to decide that this was entirely unacceptable.
"Hey!" she shouted angrily before running over to Worms and stopping directly in front of him. "Call them off." She looked up at the man's face with the angriest expression that she could muster.
Behind her, the worm-covered man was panicking, shouting something in Italian before breaking down into unintelligible sobs.
...You've heard stories about me? Don't listen to them! It's safe to sit next to me, really!
Worms sighed, looked up at the worm-covered man, then back down at Kaitlyn.
"I'm sorry dear, but he's Italian. Even if I told them too, I doubt they'd stop. My friends simply love Italian. Something in their genes makes their blood taste better then 80 year old wine, and their bones like chocolate covered chocolate bars with extra chocolate. Plus, according to them, Italian brains really DO taste like chicken. My worms also love chicken."
Behind Kaitlyn the worms clicked hysterically, their mouths simply flooding with slime. Two of the worms' mouths were up to the man's knees, while two more were trying to fit their monstrous mouths over an arm and the top of his head. The fifth worm simply began to crush them mans chest. Snapping noises foretold breaking ribs, and soon, collapsed lungs. The Italian, regardless, kept sobbing, his eyes slowly bulging, as if they might pop out of his skull. He also began to beg in between sobs, his panic reverting him to his native tongue of Italian. Worms pursed his lips at his, hands on his hips.
"Look buddy, that ain't helping. Italian to my friends is like French to women. Just makes them more excited." After saying this, the worms began to shriek softly in between almost giddy-sounding clicks. The noise was spine-shiveringly scary
Worms looked down at Kaitlyn again.
"And I'm surprised at you dear. Just a moment ago you were soooo sneaky. Now, this?" Worms sighed, shaking his head. "Just let it be, Uncle Worms knows best...." Worms leaned down, looking Kaitlyn in the eyes "doesn't he..."

Kaitlyn heard Worms, but she didn't listen. She looked behind her to see... things that she didn't want to see. As much as she wanted to look away, she couldn't.
When Worms started talking to her again, the girl could finally tear herself away from the horror. Looking at the man's face made her feel a whirlwind of emotion. Her eyes began to tear up, but her facial expression remained the same as she glared at him.
This seemed like a good time to make good on her promise and blow him up. Closing her eyes tight, she furrowed her eyebrows and clenched her fists.
A few seconds went by. Nothing happened.
The girl opened her eyes to see a woefully unexploded man still looking down at her. Kaitlyn tried again, with just as much luck. Why isn't this working?
At some point, the sobbing stopped. The Italian had melted into a puddle of water, then quickly flowed away from the terrible creatures that had been eating him while he was still solid.
