The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

>>”How did you meet them, and are they staying at the mansion now?”
Shin shook his head. He didn't elaborate further. The fabric reams were overwhelming. And then...
Fire.
They had to get--
>>”We’ve got to get out of here!”
"The front of the store," He grabbed her hand, and started moving. This was serious. He covered his mouth to block out the smoke. Why was there so much fire!? And why here? And WHY NOW!?
They burst through the front doors. Shin turned to look at the building, eyes locked on the smoke billowing out the entrance for a second, then he turned, looking over his shoulder. "We have to call someone. 911. The fire department. Are you okay?"

All things considered, getting out of the store wasn’t all that difficult. Despite the amount of fabric on display, the owners of the store had done an excellent job of keeping the main area of the floor clear. Even with smoke, Shin was able to lead Kealey out of the burning shop with all due haste and little trouble.
There was a lot of smoke, but that made sense considering the fact that there were as many synthetic fabrics in Mood as there were organics. Burning synthetic fabric was a lot like burning plastic. The smoke was thick, and billowing out into the street where New York’s usual flock of onlookers and sightseers were gathering to watch the drama unfold. Kealey didn’t know how many people had been in the shop besides Shin and herself, but nobody was panicked and nobody seemed to be indicating that there was anyone inside.
The general sense of alarm and wonder in the crowd had Kealey’s mind spinning a little, and when Shin asked if she was alright it took her a moment to answer. Sirens came within hearing range, and the sound jolted Kealey from her thoughts. It looked like someone had already called the police.
”I’m fine.” she said, frowning slightly at the flames and trying to sort out what could have possibly happened in a fabric store to set the whole place alight.
The fire trucks were getting closer now and the general excitement of the crowd was growing. It made Kealey antsy, but she worked hard to hold it together.
”How did that happen so fast?” she questioned, I mean, one second we were standing there and everything was fine. The next…something’s not right.”
The sirens were getting louder now, much louder, and Kealey gave the shop a final look, silently mourning the death of all those fine fabrics. It was good thing that most of them would be fairly easy to replace. ”What do we do now?” she asked, pulling her eyes from the flames and back to Shin.

She said she was fine, but Shin could see the look on Kealey's face. Inner gears were turning. That fire seemed unnatural. The way it had come about so shortly, the way it had spread. Something wasn't right, she said, and Shin nodded, eyes swinging back to the store. He had to agree. This was awful.
Was there anyone in there? A group of fire fighters approached the building, asking onlookers, getting as much information as they could. Some readied water cannons, to combat the flames. A man with thick dark eyebrows and hard brown eyes caught Shin's gaze for a second, then turned to direct others into the building. It was their job, now. Kealey asked him what to do, but Shin's mind was focused on that. It took a second for him to realize she'd asked him something. Shin jerked his attention back to Kealey, looking her in the eye.
"It looks like the fire fighters have rescues handled. They're getting the fire under control. There will probably be police that need answers... they'll want to know what we saw. To run now would probably draw their attention. We should wait..." He glanced back to the fire. "And answer questions..."

The firefighters arrived and Kealey watched with a shared sense of urgency as they rushed around to hook up their hoses, drag them around, and finally start dousing the flames. The shop was going to be a total loss.
Kealey nodded her head when Shin pointed out that they should probably stick around an answer questions for the Police. Running hadn’t really been something Kealey had considered doing. The police would definitely have questions. They had been close to the fire when it had started, hopefully whatever they could recount would be useful. Kealey didn’t think they’d seen anything that would ultimately be of much use, but she wasn’t a professional investigator, not by any means.
”I hope we can help them figure everything out.” she said, and settled in to wait until the fire was under control and the police could make their way back.
Further back in the crowd of onlookers the redhead stood. She’d snapped her pictures, and gotten all the information she needed. Her exit had been a little sloppy, running into a person didn’t usually make for a sly exit, but it didn’t seem to have mattered. Things were moving along just according to plan. Turning on her heel, she walked away from the scene of the fire, fiery red hair to the middle of her back swaying as she walked.

They answered police questions. Shin and Kealey hadn't had much to add. They gave them an idea of what time they'd smelled the smoke, and what time the fire broke out. On the question of 'suspicious figures', Shin had mentioned the redhead. Aside from that, he hadn't seen many people inside the shop. It was probably for the best... fewer casualties. Less lives lost in the fire. He was glad for that... but it still wasn't fair what had happened to the fabric store.
It had been a nice shop. It had been a nice date. It was a crying shame their day had had to end that way.
Shin walked Kealey away from the charred remains of the store some time later. The fire had been difficult to calm. What remained was like a skeleton. The blackened outline of the building stood where once a happy fabric shop named mood once lived. The mood had changed from happy to somber. The bus ride home was similarily downcast.
Shin dropped Kealey off in her room. Then, he returned to his own. Just like the fabric shop, there hadn't been much they could salvage of their day.
