The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Another part of nonverbal communication? Eye level and signals of dominance. Lori was a small girl, she didn't come by her height honestly and one of the ways she pulled off being the boss was appearing larger than life, keeping her head above others', tone... there was just so much that went into it. It was good that she was a natural and probably why she worked as boss.
"In a residential area there is a small, yellow house. Somewhere in that house is a metal press, an old fashioned pill pressing plate to be exact. There should be several there, but I want only one." The small girl ducked behind her desk and rummaged around in her files. Everything was a bit haphazard back there, but her filing was like the one bit of order among the chaos.
A manilla folder flopped on the top of the desk as if by magic. Moments later Lori followed, sitting on her desk like an irreverent school kid when the teacher wasn't looking. She thumbed around until she found an old Greg's list posting. "Here's the one." She pointed to a horrible snapshot of what looked rather a lot like an over sized muffin tin. She pulled out a few other papers, Lori killed a lot of trees with her web surfing since her time on a computer was always limited. She passed the small stack to Gregory. "This should be everything you need to do the deed."
She had done her research or maybe Lisa had filled in the gaps. There was an overhead map with a pin marker at the house's location, a street view showing off a close clipped yard and a spunky looking dog, and even traces of how she'd tracked down the address from the listing. Email domains and IP addresses weren't enough to keep Lori from what she wanted.
"Bring me this and make sure no one sees exactly what you've taken and you'll be a prime candidate." She made it sound simple. A cakewalk.
The catch? The house was deep in what Lori considered to be Kabal territory and from the other listings they were a collector. Collectors always had security. The dog for starters, but Lori hadn't done any up close recon. That meant what she wanted was likely not as easy to procure as it might sound.
Roach wasn't often the type to step back and look at the big picture while he could still afford to chew on the camera, but he knew that right now the camera was way too expensive to try and digest, so step back(mentally) he did, and what he saw was this.
Lori was keen to show that she was in charge, as was appropriate when one was, in fact, in charge. The best thing to do was to let her be in charge; to be subservient, but at the same time, not fearful. mouthing off and quivering in fear were both useless, and therefor he would balance firmly in between the two, and listen.
He stood calmly as she picked through her files, and eyed the Manila folder as she flipped through it. The great thing about having such a random mind was that when it was applied to things, he could come up with ideas like that... Not all of them were useful, mind you... Before actually beginning any formulation of a plan, he had thought on whether or not 'cheeze it' commercials were factual, he doubted it, how many licks it actually took to get to the center of a tootsie pop, if he would get in trouble for stabbing Lori's assistant to death, even when she had a face that just asked for it, why the color blue was called blue and not snagglepus, and how long it would take to actually eat Lori whole... Like, how a snake would. Gosh, he was getting hungry.
Once he got to the actual important thinking, a few questions arose to him; some that he would ask, and some that he wasn't nearly stupid enough to ask. The latter category included the following: Gee, Ms. Faust, what would a pharmaceutical company want with something they could probably make themselves? Why am I not a robot? What are you planning to do with this once I get it? What exactly are you up to? He didn't ask these questions, barring the robot one, because he knew better than that; someone in his position didn't ask the big questions; If his boss wanted him to know, she would tell him... What he did need to ask pertained to the achieving of this mission.
"Ms. Faust, if I may ask, what is the time line for this mission? Will I have time to do make my own observations? Also, this photo is somewhat... lacking in clarity, do you have a serial number, or something else to go by, or may I simply grab anything that resembles this, and go? Finally... Is this operation to be a... damageless operation, or may I... How do I word this... Cause some harm? I can see it being much easier to hide exactly what was taken if there were some sort of disruption to cover it up." Once he was done questioning, waited for her response unblinkingly...
Thanks to Andrea and Jorge for my sigs! I WABBLE YOUUU! AV Roach~
He seemed to be pursuing a mental tangent because the big bug idled with his face pointed toward her. That was what she called it anyway. Idling. Sort of like a car that was turned on but no one was inside to drive...
Then all of a sudden his personality came back. He opened his mouth and maybe all of what he had been brewing spilled out all at once.
"The timeline is at your discretion, but the sooner this item is retrieved the better." Also that would let her know how proactive he was about getting things done. Was this bug a lazy one? Or an industrious one?
"There should be many pieces similar to this one there. There should be a serial number listed in the description, but if it isn't there do the best you can. I need this exact piece." Attention to detail. He had one chance to bring the exact piece.
And finally, "I would appreciate this quest remain as quiet as possible. Damage can sometimes cover up what you are doing, sometimes discretion is better served by no damage at all. I can't possibly know which will serve you best. Only you can decide this. I will not, however, clean up after you. If you dig your own grave, you will the one to lie in it."
She swung her legs almost playfully. This was fun.
