The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Shin agreed with Kealey’s comment about her powers like it was a good thing. Kealey tilted her head at him. She’d come to grips with her powers some time ago, and she’d had to admit that there were advantages to what it could do as far as protecting herself could go. It didn’t change the fact that there was something unnatural about it. Kealey looked at him closely, he really was treating it like something good and natural.
She was still a little baffled, but Kealey turned her attention all of the things Shin was telling her about jujitsu. The throws sounded so cool, and Kealey spent a few moments simply trying to imagine herself trying to do something like that. All it required was using a person’s momentum and weight against them? It really did sound doable.
Shin mimed more actions, but Kealey just watched this time. He said he needed a dummy, but the blonde’s imagination was doing a really good job putting one where it should be.
Escaping, striking, things that all mattered. All things that weren’t really all that hard to understand. All things that Shin was going to teacher. In the Danger Room. A couple times a week.
She nodded.
”You’re a really good teacher, Shin.” she said, voice and face earnest and a slight smile curving her features.

>>”You’re a really good teacher, Shin.”
Shin beamed, and waved the comment away. "Oh, stop~"
Flattery only went to his head. He wanted to be modest, even if he knew Kealey was telling him the truth he knew in his heart. "You're a good student," He said. And good teachers needed good students.
"Anyways, I think that's it for today. I'm tired. What to do next... hmm..." He held his chin, and thought. They could either go home... or they could stay here. Or option three... he didn't know what that was.

She was a good student. Kealey beamed with pride at Shin’s compliment and was surprised to find her cheeks burning slightly. Funny how hard it was to expect praise for something you’d wanted to do in the first place.
What were they going to do next? Kealey’s smile fell a little bit, her shoulder was aching a little and she was pretty sure she’d be sore the next day. Hopefully it wouldn’t be anything as difficult as what they’d already worked on. Maybe it would be some more stretching, or some more talking…or…
Shin said he was tired and Kealey let out a sigh of relief. Resting sounded like an excellent idea.
Kealey thought for a moment and her brows drew together in a small frown. Shin had taken her away from all the emotions that had threatened to overwhelm her, but it hadn’t changed the fact that something incredibly strange had happened earlier in the day.
Kealey looked at Shin. She could handle it now.
”Maybe we should see what’s going on outside.” she suggested, pulling her eyes from Shin and looking to the door.

>>”Maybe we should see what’s going on outside.”
"Are you sure?" Checking on the world meant exposing themselves to all those emotions... and Kealey had been so emotional. A hint of worry fell into his voice. He didn't want Kealey to cry. "Maybe we can ease ourselves into this? We could check the news?"
Megara's television was upstairs. It was the same one they'd seen Roland's attack broadcast on the first night he took her to Cerberus Towers... The night they watched Happy Feet, and fell asleep. That television had both good memories, and bad.
Shin bent to pick up his pink polka-dotted hoodie as he stood. He pulled it on, and looked at her. "Let's check the news."

Kealey felt the worry in Shin when she suggested that they check on what was going on outside. It made her smile, that he was concerned with what it would do. Shin got her. He really did. Kealey nodded her head slowly, obviously thinking about what she said before she said it. ”I’m okay now…it was so much, all at once, and I wasn’t ready for it.” she explained.
Shin suggested that they check the news first and Kealey nodded a little more enthusiastically. This was a good idea. Even if she was more mentally prepared to go out in the world, than she’d been when it had happened earlier, knowing exactly what she was walking into would probably help.
Shin retrieved his hoodie, and Kealey got her shirt, pulling it over her arms but leaving it unbuttoned. She was still warm from the physical exertion and there were a lot of buttons.
Out of the training room they went, Shin leading the way upstairs to the room they’d sat in after the fiasco with Roland on the ferry.
“Megara isn’t going to mind, is she?” Kealey asked as she dropped down onto the comfortable couch, watching the blank TV until Shin turned it on.
The news was pretty much the same as it had been when they left the mansion. There were car accidents, boat accidents, even a couple of small plane accidents. Traffic was a mess, the police were everywhere and a series of small fires had broken out all across the city. People were hurt…and worse. The lack of other emotions helped, quite a bit actually, but Kealey was still sad….sad and a little scared.
All in all, it was mild chaos. Kealey shook her head and looked at Shin.

>>”I’m okay now…it was so much, all at once, and I wasn’t ready for it.”
He was glad she was feeling better. "Alright," Shin smiled understandingly. As soon as she was ready to go, he took them upstairs.
>>“Megara isn’t going to mind, is she?”
Shin shook his head, and sat down, flipping on the TV with the remote. "I think she's used to us by now..." Shin replied with a thin smile,"Still... this shouldn't become a habit."
His attention turned to the news, and the smile vanished. It still wasn't positive. Shin looked away.
>>”What happened Shin?”
Kealey asked.
"I don't know," He replied. "But maybe we should stick around here a bit longer, until things cool down..." He didn't have to tell her it all worried him. She probably could sense it in his tone. Something this big, with this many people affected... something had to cause it... he wondered who they'd blame. Terrorists? Mutants?
Shin took a calming breath, and pulled out his phone. He fired off a text message. A moment later, he got a response. "Megara says it's fine if we stick around here for a little while. She says we can watch any movie we'd like in her collection... and she suggests Sleepless in Seattle. Hmm..."

Shin was worried. That made Kealey worried for more reasons than the simplicity of her powers. Shin wasn’t a person who took things needlessly serious. If it was bad enough that he was actually worried…it was bad. It was confirmation though, confirmation that her fears were warranted and in a strange way, it made Kealey feel better about the situation.
At least Megara didn’t mind them sticking around for a while…and she suggested a movie? Kealey’s eyebrows drew together a little. Surely there was somewhere they could be helping out, but if Shin was shaken up enough that he thought they should stay…. ”A movie would be good….” she said, shrugging her shoulders slightly. Shin was the one with experience in matters like this, Kealey trusted his intuition.
Something was familiar about the movie Megara had suggested, but Kealey was pretty sure she hadn’t seen it. Outside the Disney movies she and her sister had watched religiously as children, Kealey lacked much pop culture experience.
