The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

>>“A draw is just another name for defeat. I think we’ll call it total Twyla domination and leave it at that.”
See that's just kinky Gawain's mind retorted, but strangely the words never made it to his lips. Gosh has this girl ever heard of personal space? Because she was in one. His.
His gaze dropped to her lips all by itself (I swear), and his brain registered they were close. Certain instincts demanded him to take the chance, certain other instincts (commonly known as survival) warned him it would probably end in Gawain getting hurt, either by her or by himself. Probably himself.
Oh no. No no no don't you dare even think about it.
The young knight swallowed and lifted his gaze back to her eyes. Does she have any idea...? Nah I didn't think so.
Twyla, don't do this to me. Please?
Those words never made it either. He swore this was not going to get awkward. He was going to play along even if it cost him his life and some more.
"Oh really?" he arched an eyebrow, holding her hands firmly by her sides "And how are ya plannin' on gettin' free, huh?"

There was a pause before the boy replied. The girl noticed that he swallowed but didn't think anything of it. When he replied he raised his eyebrow and forced her hands firmly to her sides. Flashes of a few basic moves from her practice sessions with Shin flashed in her mind. It wouldn't be intensely hard to get out of the hold, but she didn't really want to use jujitsu moves on Gawain--in case she messed up and embarrassed herself or actually hurt the other mutant. She really didn't have a plan...not a real one at least. Part of her had a few...interesting ideas on getting her hands back, but they made her blush on the inside.
"As soon as I figure that out, I'll get back to you." She didn't drop her gaze from the boy's face for a second, nor did she pull back at all. She'd stay 'up in his business' until her victory was admitted or something equally situation changing occurred.
Tugging on her arms didn't result in any budging on the other end and when nothing else brilliant occurred to her right away, Twyla reverted to her most basic state and did something else she hadn't done since she was very young and wanted to get her way. "Please let me go? Pretty please, with sugar on top." She wasn't going to negotiate the terms of winning, but maybe the boy would let her go if she asked nicely. Her eyes got very large and her mouth puckered itself into a pleading frown as she stared at her captor in the cutest way she could think of.
"I promise I won't challenge you to anymore thumb wars if that makes you feel better." The pleading look was overtaken by a laughing smile and a smirk in the large, brown eyes.
>>"As soon as I figure that out, I'll get back to you."
"Take your time." Gawain nodded cheerfully, holding her hands in place, careful not to grip too tight but also not underestimating Bubblegum's abilities of sneakiness. If she wanted to stand there like that for a while, he was all for it.
>>"Please let me go? Pretty please, with sugar on top."
Aww, that was cute. It also made Gawain laugh in disbelief, she was really capable of anything to get free. Like pulling another trick that in his book was reserved for "under the age of 10 only". "I dunno." he shook his head, grinning up at her "What's in it for me?" Let's hope she gets creative there too.
>>"I promise I won't challenge you to anymore thumb wars if that makes you feel better."
Or that. Gawain wrinkled his nose for a moment, appeareing to be deep in thought. "Nah, not good enough." he concluded "Tell ya what. I want a rematch. Snowball fight to the death by exhaustion. Tomorrow. Sounds fair?"

Snowball fight to the death it would be. And then Twyla would get to the bottom of several things–especially a certain night of fighting. There would be no off the hook getting on the blonde’s watch, no siree.
