The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Tetsuya had a point; it was better than flying on a plane and maybe even a jet pack. In a plane you couldn’t feel the wind rushing past you, one of the main reasons he loved to fly the wind that brushed past him was like an old friend that made him feel alive when ever he came into contact with it. Jet packs, he never seen one in motion before but if it was anything like in the movies it still would only fall far behind his method of flight. ”Maybe…” Carrick said, still not convinced it was an adequate way to fly.
Contest or challenge either way Tetsuya had his attention, his attention was focused on the floating Asian as he summoned up a small golden shard and forced it on his shoulder. Carrick smirked slightly and nodded his head, ”Five minutes is it?” Carrick asked unfolding his legs and arms now fully stretched as his wings continued to flap behind him. ”Sounds like the game is afoot then isn’t it?” Carrick asked in response as he reached behind his back and unbuttoned his flannel jacket from around his wings.
Two large slits that he had help create slid the jacket off of his back as he let it drop to the ground. Upon impact it made a small thud, knowing that was the sound of some of his means of entertainment Carrick looked at them and back at Tetsuya, a grin on his face as the wife beater he was wearing held close to his body making it far easier to maneuver with his wings.
With one flap and his directed legs and tail forced him fast at Tetsuya. So he didn’t wait for the count, he didn’t think he needed to he was after all the lord of the sky. The only warning Tetsuya would have was the grin on his face before he flew at him in a breakneck speed. The shard would be his just like Harry Potter always caught the snitch. ”It’s mine!” Carrick called out as he closed the distance between them quickly his hand outstretched towards the shard.

Such impatience. Shin pondered, as the bird boy flew at him as fast as he could. One hand dropped to press drown against the platform beneath his feet for balance. The other pointed to the right. Shin's golden shard shot left. It wheeled around Carrick's hand as Shin forced himself higher into the air.
"Danger room, start the clock!" Shin announced. His eyes narrowed on the shard below, then shot towards the ceiling. The triangle followed, moving as fast as Shin could manage. As it rose, it darted back and forth, in a zigzagged pattern, until it was level with Shin's platform. Then, it snapped onto the bottom of it. Shin leaned forwards, and barreled down.
Above the two boys, massive projected stenciled letters counted down the clock.
Eyebrows frowning slightly followed by a fading smile moments later his normal composure found it’s self back on his face. Nothing was more frustrating than thinking you have beaten the game just to figure out it only just started. Not only did it make him feel foolish but he really hated losing. Realizing that this might take a bit longer than a few seconds Carrick slowed to the point he could properly see everything that was going on. Tetsuya went up and the little golden piece of glass waved about Carrick’s own arm for a second before continuing away and upward from Carrick.
Tilting the wings so they were completely vertical Carrick slowed to a stop as his massive wings pulled on the air that they were cutting through moments before. Carrick was never a big fan of this maneuver because of the strain they put on his wings but he figured that with practice like most of his maneuvers it would become easier and less strenuous to do.
Milliseconds was the time frame it took for Carrick’s wings to start rotating accordingly so he could begin his upward ascent to follow Tetsuya’s golden snitch. His tail flew behind him as his arms both tucked into his sides. Despite the lack of wind inside the danger room there was still wind resistance, at least when he was flying. Eyes trailing the zig zagging shard Carrick’s eyes trailed the golden object as he flapped his wings harder.
The shard attached it’s self to the bottom of Tetsuya’s platform as he to began a decent. Carrick arched his back and rotated in midair as Tetsuya flashed passed him in a blur. Twisting and turning Carrick managed to successfully complete a half roll in mid air and found him self, quick on the shard mancers tail.
If he shifted before the chase odds were he would have had the shard by now but it was to late to shift, now at least when he was in mid air. Never before has he shifted off the ground before, something about associating the sky with the pain of shifting didn’t sit right with him, which was he avoided it in the first place. ”Give it!” Carrick said as his hand outstretched towards the platform where his fingertips nicked the edge.

It was unavoidable. How regrettable. As the flying boy's hand reached out to nick the edge of Shin's platform, the platform turned away at just the right angle to accidentally bite back. A razor-sharp edge sliced a minuscule cut across the index finger of Carrick's right hand. Shin drew back on the speed as he realized what had happened, and dropped a foot in the air. The golden shard scurried up the bottom of the platform, and onto his right leg.
"Ugh. I told you they were sharp..." Shin's lips sagged in a frown.
Golden brown wings rotated slightly and turned as Carrick instinctively tried to avoid an aerial threat from Tetsuya. It took Carrick a moment to figure out what exactly happened but when his eyes trailed down to his finger they in turn shifted to the Asian on the platform. ”That hurt!” Carrick said quickly as he stuck his finger into his mouth. He blinked then recalled the fact that Tetsuya did in fact say they were razor sharp but why would he go after the golden shard in the first place?
It wasn’t a deep cut and in time it would heal, but still as he looked to the clock he realized how stupid this game was. Why catch something if it was just going to hurt him? The clock continued to count down as the golden shard hid in the shadow or Tetsuya. Wings still flapping Carrick wondered if there was a better way to play this game. Two ideas came to mind the first thing Carrick did was removed his left shoe and removed his large wool sock and then stretched it open. The sock itself smelled but he didn’t really care it would be enough to catch the shard if he could manage it.
Two minutes on the clock and Carrick veered in the air towards Tetsuya and began his second assault readying his net in his injured hand. If he couldn’t manage to take the shard he would just try and catch the one controlling the shard. Taking Tetsuya off of the platform would be his back up plan.
Charging straight for Tetsuya’s leg Carrick reached out with the sock in both hands and made an attempt to swish the sock fast enough to catch the golden shard.

>>”That hurt!”
"I told you." Shin moped. Why couldn't people listen when he told them important things? Don't touch those, don't do that, don't divide by zero, because that is icky, and you'll make God cry.
For a few moments, neither party said much more. Carrick hung in the air, holding his hand, and looking towards the clock. Shin followed the boy's gaze. Was there something important about the clock now? More important than the young boy's hand? How badly had he been injured, anyways? Surely, it couldn't have been that bad, if the kid wasn't running around insanely, like a chicken with his head cut off...
though what if his head had been cut off? And that was why...
His eyes shot back towards the kid, as if to check on his health status. Okay, good. He was alive. Not that he'd been any less alive when he'd shouted 'that hurt' earlier... where had Shin's logic gone just now...? It was a good question.
Why was the kid wearing a sock puppet? That question was even more pertinent. Or rather, not wearing, but wielding ... and wasn't that unwieldy? Especially if he was flying straight at him, and trying to use it to catch the shard...
Well, then. If he wanted to catch Shin's shard in the sock, Shin would just have to let him see how well that would work.
As the sock came in to try and net the shardy-shard, Shin lurched to the left, away from the tackle. He left the gold shard in place to shred the sock. He'd evade the tackle. That was a gift for him. But he'd leave the sock in pieces. That was for Carrick. All of it.
As the shard finished turning, it shot away from the shreds horizontally. It flew straight back to Shin's side.
Carrick’s eyebrows turned down as he was rather irritated with the situation the one time he thought he had a good idea Tetsuya had to shoot it down by destroying his sock, ”Aww, I only have like four pairs of socks! Now I’ll have to go get some new ones…” Carrick looked down at the shredded sock in his hand and dropped it to the Danger room floor thinking about what he should do now. He could try with his jacket and his shirt but then again if it ran through his finger and his socks with no problem then why would it be a problem to ruin more of his clothing.
No his clothing wasn’t going to suffer anymore, and given the time limit his options were limited. Looking at the shard hovering about Shin’s side Carrick decided to go for the ‘Hail Mary’. Wings flapping quickly Carrick gained speed and charged towards the shard however at the last second he turned his wings and redirected himself towards Tetsuya who was in Carrick’s opinion being far to smug about this challenge.
His shoulder landed into Tetsuya’s gut as Carrick held on tightly so even if his Asian challenge fell off the platform Carrick would prevent him from going splat on the ground. He could fly with adult sized people in his normal form but it wasn’t really flying it was more like slow floating. Meaning he was far slower and all his strength was directed towards what ever he was holding and his wings. ”Loop hole?” Carrick asked as he looked to the clock and saw that there was ten seconds left.

>>”Aww, I only have like four pairs of socks! Now I’ll have to go get some new ones…”
Shin was far more amused than he should have been at that. He'd have to buy the poor kid some new socks, once this thing was over. He owed it to him. But first.
The guy was charging his shard again. Oh boy. Charging razors was never a good idea-- then, the birdboy changed courses.
"!!!!" OOF! The flying tackle had knocked the wind from him. Shin staggered backwards as the platform vanished beneath his feet. His arms wheeled. He was gonna splat now! Darn it!! His eyes snapped closed, but then... no falling. They opened again, almost disappointed. What the hell was up with that!?
Carrick was holding him. They were lowering slowly to the danger room floor.
>>”Loop hole?”
Carrick asked.
Shin shook his head gravely. "That flying tackle made the golden shard go poof. You only got the real Shard. Can you put him down?"
The platform Tetsuya was floating on disappeared, as he held on tight to the Asian around his side making sure he wouldn’t fall to the ground. The clock continued till it reached zero and Tetsuya had said he got the wrong shard and in the process made the other one vanish. Carrick’s tail twitched as he slackened the strength in his wings to allow an easy float down to the ground.
When he was low enough to Carrick let go of Tetsuya and then landed himself a few feet away from the Asian. When he landed his face was no longer excited and happy but more of a sad one. Not only did Carrick lose the challenge but also he lost a sock in the process. Looking around for his left shoe and found it Carrick turned back to Tetsuya before retrieving it. ”Soooo there was really no way I could have won this challenge was there?” Carrick asked slightly irritated.
He was upset about the cut and his sock but the alternative could have been worse he could have shifted and caught the thing only to have it cut his talons or worse mouth to ribbons. Even if he shifted back the damage would be done and it wouldn’t have been pretty. ”This was an extremely dangerous game…” Carrick said as he put his hand to his chin as his tail swayed back and forth behind him. ”Cost me my sock….” Carrick wiggled his bare toes and then looked back to Tetsuya.

>> ”Soooo there was really no way I could have won this challenge was there?”
He could, either... A), give the Spock answer, and say that sometimes, one must learn to pick out a winnable fight from its opposite, or B), say 'Yes. Yes, you could.'
Shin chose B).
"You only had to touch the shard's face. You didn't have to catch it in your hand at all. This isn't Football. It's touch football. Okay?" He was sorry the kid felt defeated. He'd broken the rules by assaulting the flying dude, though. That could have been messy. "Next time, maybe I should explain the rules?"
>>”This was an extremely dangerous game…”
Only if one played it that way...
>>”Cost me my sock….”
"Maybe I could, uh... buy you a new one?" Or even two!
A tail cut thought the air behind him when Carrick folded his arms to look at Tetsuya who never mentioned that all he had to do was touch the shard if he knew that he would have had won but he was to focused on catching the little golden razor. Touch? Carrick smirked to shin slightly before stating his comeback, ”Rules next time would be better, though you seemed a little to excited to get the chase started, if you gave me a minute to put my game face while explaining the rules things might have turned out differently…” his game face was of course his shifted self into the mythical flying sky king.
Carrick shrugged and unfolded his arm and let out a small laugh, ”What’s done is done me thinks, no use crying over it now.” he looked about the danger room and opened his wings up and took to the air again glad he found a place in doors where he could fly where negative weather conditions wouldn’t affect his flight. ”Defiantly coming back here though, think I could get some powerful flying up in here!” Carrick rolled with a bend of his wings and then landed on the ground closer to Shin than he was before.
With a nod of his head Carrick couldn’t agree more, ”Might be cheaper to buy me a pair of socks, you know seeing as this lone fella won’t have anyone to match with…”

Shin sighed. Yeah. Rules would be. Rules ruled, and all that. But crying time was over, as the bird-boy said.
>>”Might be cheaper to buy me a pair of socks, you know seeing as this lone fella won’t have anyone to match with…”
"Yeah, sure. And next time you hop in, make sure you tell someone. It's dangerous to hop into the Danger Room without supervision, unless you're cool like me." Shin thumbed his chest.
Frowning at Tetsuya who gave him a gesture, which caused Carrick to look away from him slightly embarrassed for the Asian, really? Thumb to the chest? What was this a cartoon where the supposed hero destroyed an innocent boys clothing then acted like a hero?
”Alright… tell someone I will, hopefully they won’t destroy my clothing either less I have to find a more suitable place to live…” Carrick said sounding a little irritated.
”Later!” Carrick said flying off to the exit of the danger room leaving the Asian behind.

>>”Later!”
" . . . " Shin had had a comeback for the 'destroy my clothing' comment, but it was lost when the commenter made their way out the door. Instead, an annoyed 'later' slipped out. Shin sighed. What was with kids these days, not finding everything he did with his brain 'cool'? Things were usually better when done by brain power alone. Math, science, history... destruction of socks. Okay. Maybe killing the kid's socks hadn't been the coolest thing since bagged milk, but come on... he at least deserved a little respect.
Shin shook his head, and turned back towards the Danger Room's control panel. It was fine. Really. "Danger Room, create a shooting gallery of footwear..." Shin muttered. He felt like slicing something. It was all the flighty-kid's fault.
