The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

She said she was fine and Sam smirked slightly, there was no attempt to sound convincing what so ever it irritated him slightly that she would even attempt such a poor in the situation to begin with. Then again he couldn’t say much due to the fact that he was giving her a poor smile. ”You’re a terrible liar…” he frowned slightly and looked to her and then his smile faded. The sad look on her face made it impossible to even throw out a fake smile her way.
Sam savored the moments of silence between Alex and himself. The situation was a difficult one and it was obvious nether one of them knew how to go about communicating. ”About as good as I could be, as you can see.” Sam tried to make an attempt to make a joke about his situation to try and ease the situation another fake smile appeared on his face just out of thought of possibly making Alex smile for even a second.
Turning in closer to Alex his smile faded for a second and he looked down at his hands for a second, ”You know it wasn’t your fault…” he looked up with one eye and made an attempt to lock gaze with hers. If she could look in his eye she could see that he was serious.
If she did lock eyes to his lone eye he didn’t notice right away for he already shifted his attention to something else. Playing with the rag of a shirt he had been given Sam started to pull the threads neared the frayed bottom and continued so speak, ”I realized a few things I really didn’t notice before…”
Terrible liar. Alexandra could almost snort at that. A terrible liar that had infiltrated his team, that stood under the roof of his house unsuspected, that gained his trust and his appreciation. Terrible liar. Maybe. Now. Because she didn’t have enough strength to play pretend. Alexandra remained motionless, eyes still closed, waiting for Sam to say something else.
The joke, she didn’t appreciate. Instead, her eyes snapped open only to be narrowed. “Don’t try to brighten up things, Sam. There’s nothing to be brightened up.” She called bitterly. Her features relaxed now, a sigh escaping her lips. Sam didn’t deserve to be treated this way but somehow she couldn’t snap out of it. This place, the events of the past weeks reversed her mindset to one that she was familiar with. She’d been trough this once, years ago. The hatred for her parents had made her push away every person that was trying to get near her. A mechanism of self-defense, designed to protect her from further harm.
Another sharp breath later, she was staring at Sam again, eyes taking in the damage she had caused. It wasn’t her fault. Teeth were gritted together in disapproval as she furiously placed her hands on her lap, nails digging into her palms. Not her fault, right. What Sam said next piqued her interest. Her fists were clenched harder as words were left to trail into the air.
“What did you notice?” She asked, pushing her head off the wall to take a better look. However, she didn’t give Sam the chance to answer her question and after a short breath she continued, the bitterness and all negative emotions now rich in her voice. “What? That getting involved with me was the biggest mistake of your life?” A fake smile appeared on her lips only to vanish a moment later. “I noticed that too.” Another sigh left her lips as she let her head to lean against the cold wall again. “Couldn’t agree more…” A short lived laugh, one that couldn’t turn more fake made appearance.
Alexandra shifted her eyes to the metal door in front of her, and yet she didn’t focus on anything in particular. Blinking slowly, she acknowledged the fact that Sam didn’t think about anything that she had previously mentioned. She knew it from the moment he had finished saying those words. But she also knew that whatever Sam wanted to say couldn’t fit the patterns of normal in this situation. Sam was too good for his own good.

He lifted his right eyebrow, ”Nothing to be brightened up? Really? We are both still alive, which I count as a blessing they could have killed us but for some reason they kept us alive.” he knew why they were both alive he was a bargaining chip and Alex, well they could get what they need with out Alex. Even though he knew why they were both still alive wasn’t really a good reason he didn’t care he had narrowly escaped death again. He made note to tally another point for himself when he would get home.
The next few things Alex had said had upset him deeply enough to get him to stand up and look down on her as she sat on the bed. ”Shut up!” Sam yelled his tone serious and his voice raising, as he looked at Alex whose attention was turned to the door now. It was the first time he had ever risen his voice to Alex before and ever told her to shut up even when joking he had yet to say it. ”For someone who seems to be so put composed and controlled all the time you really need to work on reading the one your with!” he was getting dizzy and needed a second to get his thought back. Placing a hand on the wall and leaning on it for a second he let the words sink in before he spoke again.
”I never said that you were a mistake I might have thought it for a second but then I thought about not having you in my life and that made me feel even worse. I want to hate you right now but I can’t I want to run from you but I can’t!” He took another step closer and placed his hand on the wall again reaching his left hand up and placing it on his left eye he gently pressed it.
”Look at me!” Sam said as he moved closer and dropped to his knees and leaned over onto the bed, ”I wanted to hate you when you carved me up but then I realized I couldn’t then and there…” Sam looked down at the ground and then looked back at her after a second of silence ”I love you!”
She would have rather died, drowning in her own blood.
This life was far from a blessing, as Sam named it. And the reason they kept them alive. He had no idea. Absolutely no idea.
The moment he stood up, she glanced briefly in his direction. He shouldn’t have. Not in his condition. The yelling made her turn her head, both surprised and… pleased. He was mad. Good. That was how he was supposed to be.
Again, she pushed her head of the wall, turning to look at Sam. Her features changed from surprised to serene. Content almost. She read him pretty well. That’s why she managed to push the right buttons. Make him mad at her. There laid the path toward hatred, which Sam should have chosen from the start.
Calmly, she listened. But as words left Sam’s mouth she realized that this wasn’t going where she wanted. The calmness was washed over by another wave of confusion as Sam kneeled beside her bed. No, this wasn’t going where she wanted.
And then, Alexandra stared at Sam, pure shock written across her face. LOVED her? Thoughts rambled around her head with no pattern. A complete chaos. Nothing she could actually choose because they went around too fast for her to have a chance to catch them. Her emotions resembled a patchwork. A little bit of everything but nothing she could grasp yet. Words were not an option as she stood there, eyes widened, mouth slightly opened looking at him.
Was he sane? No, he must have been delirious. How could she claim that he loved her when she had caused him immense pain? Later on, when her eyes sent a signal of distress, warning her that she had to blink, she finally managed to put some order into the chaos. And she blinked, mouth closing in the same time. Still, she had no idea what to say.
In another situation, she would have said ‘I love you too.’ Because, as order started to replace chaos, she was aware that that was the name of her feelings toward Sam. She started to realize it back when she was in the torture chamber. When she was given the choice. One or thousands. And she had chosen the one. No, she couldn’t harm him. Even if that meant that she’d get herself hurt… or many, many others.
And yet, her love turned out to be poison for the man kneeling in front of her bed. And he was poisoned and he suffered. Admitting that she loved him would only hurt him more. Instead, she decided to stick to the plan. She swallowed before speaking, blinking away the tears that menaced to appear in her eyes. “Are you mad?” She played another game of pretense, making her voice as sharp as possible. “You have to hate me, Sam.” She paused, her arm burning to touch him and comfort him. But she kept them motionless, shifting her position only slightly. “I am guilty of everything that happened to you and your friends. I am the reason all this mutants live trough this hell. I killed people and I didn’t feel any remorse. I’m not what you think I am… and you need to hate me. Despise me. Don’t love me.”
Words got stuck in her throat. She breathed, a hand reaching up to her eyes, pretending to rub them. For the first time, she was thankful for the dim lightning of the small room. This way, Sam wouldn’t notice that she was actually wiping small tears that had breached trough her defenses.

Even in the dim lighting the simple motion to her face said more than she could for the time being. She was wiping away tears it was an odd sensation but he could almost feel the heat emptying out of her eyes like small pellets of melted metal. Just as he thought of this a quick jolt from his collar shot off but it ended quickly as soon as it started, all it really did was surprise him opposed to hurting him.
His expression darkened once again as he shook his head, ”Of course I’m Mad! I’m down right insane! No one else could stab me and carve me open the way you did and still live to tell the tail, the reason is because even if I hated you for the brief instance that knife pierced my skin I realized that there was really no one else I would have been okay with doing that.” for the first time since he arrived in the camps he laughed and leaned back onto his feet.
He was smiling again and shaking his head, ”I can’t hate you Alex no matter what you say the only thing you can be guilty of is being the object of my affection.” it felt good to say and he hoped that eventually she would quite act so down about this. The only thing that could help her accept his feelings would probably be a change of scenery meaning no camps and if that was what it would take the depression he was in moments before was soon washed away by the glimpse of Alex the woman he loved.
He thought it was odd how one day he would say he would never tell a woman he would love them again until they told him first but here he was doing the exact opposite. Leila left him battered and bruised emotionally and here was Alex his nurse and despite the fact that he tried not to fall for her he couldn’t help it, yes she had cut him up and carved him like a jack-o-lantern but he was insane because he loved her.
”I don’t care what you say Alex… No one is responsible for all of this, this was going to happen sooner or later tensions in Romania had been high for a long time, even if you somehow started a change reaction to set the camps into play then it was a cruel hand dealt by fate… It was going to happen anyways Al..”
Sam paused and leaned forward again leaning over her and reaching out a hand to brush her cheek, even in the dim light it reflected the light as it ran down her face. Pulling the tear near his own face and examining it as if it held a secret Sam pointed it in Alex’s direction and shook his head again, ”Liar…”
Shaking his finger of the tear he turned his right eye to his blue eyed molecular manipulator and spoke, ”I may not know you as well as I’d like or you’d like but I know how I feel about you and how I feel around you… it’s love and even if you think I should despise you or hate you it won’t happen.” with that he nodded his head.
And he didn’t understand what she was saying. And he wouldn’t if she still kept her secrets. For a moment, she pondered if she should tell him. Shatter his heart into pieces. Her mouth opened. And closed. She couldn’t. Not now. Maybe one day, when he’d be in a better condition, better prepared to acknowledge who and what she was.
His touch made her close her eyes. Savor the sensation. You didn’t get many good things in the camps. Like always it comforted her. Funny, at least it should have been the other way around. She blinked, tilting her head to the side. One day, she’ll make things right. Now, she would probably make another mistake.
“You’re crazy, you know…” She attempted to smile while looking at Sam. “And a bit masochistic on top of that.” She let her hand reach Sam’s cheek, her eyes bearing sadness as they focused on the eye patch. Guilt wasn’t gone, nor it will be any time soon. She’ll face that later. Shifting her eyes to his good eye, she caressed his face gently. “But… no matter how you are…” She breathed in and out a couple of times. It was hard. So hard to open up. So hard to admit. One last breath and she spoke, emphasizing every word. “I love you.”
That would make things more difficult. She knew. But right now, with this feeling prodding her heart, yearning to be shared, she didn’t care.

Watching her and waiting for a proper response one that he waited for patiently Sam expected her to say something when she opened her mouth yet no words came out and a second later she closed it. Knowing that Alex’s list of previous boyfriends was close to none existent Sam didn’t expect her to say anything about her own feelings in return he didn’t need her to say anything he just wanted her to accept her feelings and not blame herself for what happened. If he wasn’t holding any grudges then why should she?
When she finally spoke she seemed to calm down a bit at least to the point where she could actually look at him. Nodding his head calmly as she spoke Sam’s lip twinge upward into a crooked smile when she called him a bit masochistic, ”One of the other things I realized, I have a tendency to keep running my mouth when someone has a knife in my chest…” nodded Sam in agreement.
Sam waited for her to continue speaking for she had stopped mid-sentence as if trying to gag up the next important information she was about to share with Sam. But when she did say it he was a little shocked at what took so much effort to get out. Sam smiled as she touched his face and repeated the three little words that held so much meaning.
”That must have been hard for you?” Sam teased as he reached up and took her hand from his face and kissed it once before pulling himself onto the bed where she sat. Sitting on her right side Sam’s good eye was exposed to her. Placing his arm around her and rubbing one side of her shoulder Sam said, ”It’ll be alright so stop looking at me with those sad eyes…”
You can’t imagine… How hard it was for her to say those words. Alexandra sighed, slowly shifting her position so her feet were now touching the ground. She turned her head to the side, looking for a brief moment at Sam before lowering her head and shifting her attention to the ground bellow.
“It’s not alright…” She muttered, wiggling her toes to get rid of the annoying ‘ants beneath your skin’ feeling that was threatening to return. Hands were motioned toward her lap where they remained still, occasionally fingers moving slightly. “Now that they know who you are they might exploit this further.” And she feared that. Falling silent, she hoped that Stix would die because of the bleeding. Sure, that wasn’t gonna solve it but… Another sigh.

Sam smirked inappropriately to Alex’s concern; they had no idea who they were dealing with if they did they would either be dead or trying to negotiate a trade of some kind. No doubt T.A.T. had a branch out in Europe. Not only T.A.T. but he was fairly certain a few high up New Yorkers might be pulling for a rescue the sudden drop in police deaths reflected his work with the New York Police. Both situations however required someone to know he was in the camps and as far as he knew hardly anyone outside of the camps and the team knew his current location.
His mind quickly jumped to the members of the team that he knew where they currently were (in the camp with him) and the ones that had yet to be accounted for he knew that they would come through and pull off a miracle.
Turning his head and kissing her head and then turning his attention to the wall across from them he spoke again, ”When I was a kid and came across situations like this… errr well less dire than this but still pretty bad,” Sam smirked faded as he almost exposed a little more than he cared to, ”Situations like this you need to live every moment like it’s your last…” he paused and shrugged slightly as he leaned over on Alex and nudged her, ”Even if this was the end… Which it isn’t! I’m glad I’m sharing it with you!” Sam said in a somewhat too cheerful mood for the situation they were in.
”So Alex, if this was the end of our days you really going to go out with a sad look on your face?” again he knew they were somehow going to make it out of here, he didn’t know how but he knew they would. There was to much left he had to do and seeing as he already had a winning streak against death why ruin the winning streak now?
Sam’s words made her turn her head, slightly intrigued. Well, she always thought that Sam was keeping something from her concerning his past but then again, if he didn’t feel comfortable enough to tell, then she wouldn’t force it out of him. That, of course, didn’t mean that she was going to say nothing about it. “Must have been a pretty awful orphanage if they had cells and shock collar and they tortured you.” Her voice kept a half serious, half joking tone. She looked at Sam to watch his reaction before continuing.
“And well, like I said you’re a bit crazy… if you’re glad to share the end with someone that got you tortured.” She didn’t feel like smiling but she did an effort to pull out her acting skills and offer Sam a smile. One that really looked real but it wasn’t. Well, Sam deserved it. “See, if I’m going to die I’m going to do it smiling.” She teased, her smile widening considerably to the point that it turned sort of goofy. No, it wasn’t the end yet and she knew perfectly that she was the one who decided when the end would be. That is, if they didn’t find a way to hack into the bank accounts. Hopefully, that wouldn’t happen. Or they’ll get rescued before that could happen.

Moving his right eye away from Alex he tried to focus on something as far away as possible. Without moving his head the furthest he could see was the bridge of his nose and an outline of Alex in the corner of his eye. It did little to distract him from the thoughts of the ‘Orphanage’ he lived in before her ran off. They did have cells though they weren’t as run down as this one, his had a desk and a few books and a ceiling fan, that was about it and in regards to torture and shock collars, well they had the torture down, do or die was the slogan most of the kids he grew up with adopted. Not only that but about the shock collars he doubted that T.A.T. had the brains to come up with the collar but he remembered where one similar to the one he had on now however it covered his entire neck restricting movement.
He smirked slightly as Alex continued to speak; she seemed to be getting what he was saying, which meant he could start smiling as well. Her smile brought one to his own face as he laughed slightly and pointed out, ”Hands down the best smile I have even seen on you!”
Turning his head into Alex he leaned his head against hers and sighed, ”Even if no one is dying keep smiling alright?” he liked it when she smiled it often raised his spirits up. Turning his head and leaning in Sam made an attempt to kiss Alex on the lips but went a little above and to the side and managed to kiss her nose.
When he realized what he was kissing he pulled his face back and laughed, ”My depth perception is so off!” he smirked and then added, ”Think it be best if you handle the kissing from now on less your nose is gonna get all the attention…”
Best smile he’d ever seen… The words rolled around her head, with a hint of sarcasm as she repeated them in her thoughts. Best smile he’d ever seen, and it wasn’t even real. As soon as Sam turned his eyes… eye, only slightly away from her, the sigh she have been keeping hidden was left free. Inaudible, after all, she didn’t want to ruin whatever happiness Sam had left.
And she nodded vigorously when Sam turned his head at her. The goofy smile disappeared being replaced by another, smaller, weaker. She lied to him again. She knew that as soon as Sam wouldn’t look her face would go back to the same lifeless expression that has been gracing her face for the past weeks. And Sam called her a terrible liar.
Sam leaned in to kiss… her nose? She blinked slightly before being grateful that he managed to kiss her nose instead of her mouth. Like mentioned before, no one bothered to clean up the various quantities of blood that have been spilled on her body and face. So she wasn’t sure who’s blood was on her face, if it was hers or maybe some was from the guard that she had so kindly slit his throat but either way she wasn’t letting Sam kiss her.
“Yeah…” She leaned in herself, kissing a part of his forehead that apparently didn’t have any injury on it. “But right now, I’d rather have my nose get the attention.” She pulled herself back, letting a smile to take over her lips. “For obvious reasons…” She added, pointing a finger for a couple of moments to her face. Shrugging, she took a good look at Sam. He was probably tired. And weak from blood loss. “Did you get any sleep?” She asked in a rather guilty manner cause she chose the easy way out, sedation.

A understanding of the situation dawned on him when she kissed his head, she wasn’t in the mood to show a lot of affection and the blood on her probably reflected that he had blood of his own somewhere on his face whose it was he knew, it was wounds like the ones he got would leave a mess and the fact that he hasn’t been given the opportunity to clean his skin he figured he looked like a mess. Hell there were probably still dirt and dust on his face from working out in the yard.
”Sleep? Nah… couldn’t really sleep, I was too busy wondering how dashing I look with an eye patch…” lied Sam as he leaned his head against the wall he was to busy wondering and worrying about everyone else especially Alex, and for good reason, he knew that she would blame her self for what had happened.
”Still not really that tired, but I’ll try to see if I can get some” he removed his arm from her shoulder and then leaned forward and moved off the run down bed, ”I’ll be here if you need me…” Sam said as he sat down by the bed and leaned up against the wall where he was before. Head resting against the wall Sam closed his right eye which was visible to Alex and he slowly started to nod his head off.
“Very dashing…” Alexandra muttered in response to Sam’s words although the words came out half heartedly. And were followed by another inaudible sigh. With a nod she acknowledged Sam’s offer of waking him up if she needed something. Of course, she wouldn’t wake him up even if the guards were dropping hot wax on herself, but still, she nodded and watched him lay beside her.
Placing her legs back on the bed as a result of some painful movement, frowns and some swearing under her breath which Sam certainly wouldn’t hear, she leaned on the cold concrete wall and started to stroke his hair slowly while keeping an eye on him. As soon as he closed his eyes, she let that ‘at least half happy’ face slip away and the grim one took its place, ready to vanish if Sam happened to look at her.
But he didn’t. She knew that no matter how fiercely he’d say that he wasn’t tired, he’d fall asleep faster than he expected. When the even breathings announced her that he was already asleep, she leaned in and kissed the side of his head again. “I’m sorry Sam.” She whispered into his ear, now that he couldn’t hear her.
And she was sorry. For what she did. For what she was doing. And for what she would do.
