The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Meld nodded in agreement to Aura's words, hoping that Skipper would consider going to Sanctuary. It had been an amazing place to discover when she had first come to the city, penniless and a visible mutant and she honestly wasn't sure what she would have done had she not ran into Aura and been led to it. So few humans were willing to accommodate a visible mutant, although obviously this individual wouldn't have such a problem. There were certainly advantages to being able to hide what you were, not that he should have to hide it. But in the world they currently lived in it was sometimes an unfortunate reality.
Meld watched as the two portals closed, suddenly glad that she hadn't gone ahead and tried to enter them. She wasn't sure what would happen if one of them should close while she was inside but was pretty sure that she didn't really want to find out. She also noticed the puzzled expression on Skipper's face and smiled encouragingly. "I'm sure in time you'll learn to control your power better. These things take time and practice. It took me four tries to get my hand as perfect is it is now." She held up her metal hand with a slight laugh.
Upon the recreation of the two portals Meld took a deep breath and deiceded to step through. Curiosity had always been one of her faults but judging by the amount of time the previous two portals remained open she was fairly sure they wouldn't close any time soon. Stepping through there was an intense feeling of disorientation, like nothing Meld had ever experienced before, and she fell to her knees on the other side. After a quick visual check for any potential damage, and finding nothing too significant, she grinned and got to her feet. "That was amazing," she stated enthusiastically. "What an amazing power you have."
Aura watched as the portals fell in on them selfs and then as skipper remade them. They were a facinateing concept in them selfs and Aura wondered if their was a reason for their diffreing colors. Aura recaller her first visit to sanctuary, she had been ina desperate run knowing full well her aura would not withstand the gunfire heading her way. Then an order member had saved her and for that she ahd been so grateful she put all of her loyalty behind the order and it's goals. It had been strange living thare at first, no runt or food concearns, money became meaningless as well. It had been so nice not to worry about such things.
"Meld is right, i have been working on my power since i got it almost 3 years ago and still i have much work to go." she explained hoping that by relaying her experinces, Skipper would understand the process better, not that she was entirely sure he did not in the first place. They needed to get him a pad of paper or something, Aura thought. Aura watched as Meld went though the portal and emerged safely on the other end of it, tilting her head she walked up as well and went through the opening reappearing a moment later looking around. The ride ahd been fun, still it was a bit disorientating to suddenly see one thing then another. " She is right, you truely have an awsome gift, do you live near here, it's ok if you do not wish to answer, it's just that sanctuary puts Mutants up for the night or however long they need" she said trying to give hima place to go as well. Between her and Meld she felt the boy would be in good shape as far as his powers and safety went. Aura ahd already forgotten bout the fight.
Skipper watched, grinning, as the girls tested out the portals for themselves. He also noticed more tingling. This one was more of the full-body tingle he got when he was really happy. His bad mood was completely reversed now, and he actually hopped in place a few times. Maybe this wasn't going to be so bad, after all.
Until Aura mentioned his house. Then came the "iced blood" feeling he'd had earlier. His fear toward these two women had just been redirected toward a single, much scarier woman. As he glanced down at his watch, his dread had become amplified by the knowledge that the "irritating lecture" awaiting him at home had just been upgraded to "imminent loss of hearing". He hated to leave now, but he really had no choice. He gave them both a look of chagrin as he motioned with his thumb behind him, shaking his head. He also wondered if there was any way he could get a hold of them in the future. He scribbled across the air with an invisible pen.

Meld wondered at the play of emotions that ran across Skipper's features, from very happy to seemingly apprehensive but said nothing of them. Everyone had their secrets to keep and it wasn't hard to guess the reason behind his apprehension anyway, given the topic of their discussion. He was a mutant and he probably had someone back home that wasn't likely to be too pleased about that fact. She wished she could give all such people a piece of her mind, preferably the piece that resulted in them bleeding profusely.
At Skipper's gesture of writing, Meld crouched down and went into her backpack, hoping that she might have included something. She hadn't exactly gone out expecting to need to write anything but luck was with her and she found a pen and a piece of scrap paper. On the paper she wrote her name and phone number. "It was a pleasure meeting you Skipper. I hope to speak to you again soon." She smiled what she hoped was a warm smile and handed him the paper.
Aura had not brought a pen or peice of aper with her, but she was glad meld did. It was clear the boy wanted to go. Aura was both releived and dissopointed at the idea, she liked the boy and hs power, but as still unsure how to talk to him normally, did they need to learn some kind of sign lanquage to talk with him easier she wonderd. Shaking such thoughts from her mind She was just happy she had gotten to meet and see another mutant tonight that made loseing out on the sparring match much much easier to to do.
'It was good to meet you skipper" she said as Meld wrote her number down, Aura did have a number in fact she ahd a cell phone, but not it was mostly only used to call order members so she did not normally use it. "I wish you luck" Aura cntinued with a smile her fingers idley playing with a strand of hair which had decided to fall in front of her face.
Devon took the piece of paper from Meld and smiled back. he folded it a few times and put it into his wallet before he gave them both another waves and jogged off. He glanced back once as he ran, the girls becoming nothing more than shadows between the trees. There were still a lot of questions he needed answers to, but first, he needed to get to his cell phone. Once he had that, communication would be a lot easier thanks to the allmighty text message. After the storm died down at home, of course...
