The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Hunter watched as she summoned the ice back to her. He’d seen Lisa do that after nailing an accompanying soldier when he tried to apprehend her. While exceptionally self-conscious the girl had had a good grasp of her powers as well as good aim. But she hadn’t been able to react fast enough to avoid being hit by her own dagger when Hunter threw it back at her.
“If I wanted gourmet I’d go to Noir,” he said with a smile. Some of the finest chefs worked at his restaurant, and his particular taste in drinks was catered for. “Now, we’ve seen you’ve got good aim. You don’t need any training from me to get better, just practise. Now hand to hand combat is something where I can probably teach you a thing or two.”
He went over and picked up the pole arms that she’d made. Getting a feel for the weight he gave them an experimental twirl before tossing one to Paragon. “So, how much experience do you have with these things and why do you prefer them over say a simple sword of axe?” he asked, still twirling his.
(OOC: You said it had a scythe like blade and a spear point. Are both at the same end of at opposing ends?)

“Now, we’ve seen you’ve got good aim. You don’t need any training from me to get better, just practise. Now hand to hand combat is something where I can probably teach you a thing or two.”
Iris bit her lip, and nodded. She caught the pike easily enough, unconsciously swinging it to where the spear-tip pointed out.
So, how much experience do you have with these things and why do you prefer them over say a simple sword of axe?”
"Um... very little..." That was an understatement. "No reason, I guess. Just... anything to keep someone as far away as possible...."
“Ok then, this is what we’re going to do,” Hunter explained, “I want you to try and attack me. Remember that not only do I know what I’m doing with a weapon if you do by some fluke manage to hit me it’ll heal really fast, so don’t hold back.”
It had been a long time since he had used a pole arm, but he still knew more than most about fighting with one. He gripped the weapon in a similar manner to Paragon,, with the spear tip pointed forwards, but his stance had some important differences. His feet were further apart and his knees bent, offering him better balance. Also his arms were not out stretched, but bent, ready to jab out with the spear. Hw now waited for Paragon to attack, so he could see how much or how little she knew.

“Ok then, this is what we’re going to do. I want you to try and attack me. Remember that not only do I know what I’m doing with a weapon if you do by some fluke manage to hit me it’ll heal really fast, so don’t hold back.”
Iris gulped. This was going to be.... interesting....
She took note of Hunter's stance, and attempted to imitate him. She inhaled deeply, and did her best to ignore the 'Somebody's watching me' feeling creeping up her spine.
She jabbed forward several times, at his chest, throat and shoulder. The moves were not really feints, but she was expecting him to either dodge or swing the staff up to block. Then she whipped the spear around, aiming to slash at his shoulder with the scythe. But at the last moment she inhaled sharply, and let off the pressure of the swing. Even if it had connected, the blow wouldn't have done any damage. She instinctively back-peddled, to put herself out of harms way, she hoped.
"S-sorry!" she stammered. She just wasn't used to this.
Hunter could tell that she wasn’t putting anything close to her all into this. For each of her lunges with the spear he only tapped the end of her weapon and she pulled back and tried again. When she used the scythe it looked like a good attack, but she dropped of all the power that he didn’t even bother to block. The scythe poked him on the shoulder before Paragon backed up.
“Ok, I can see we are going to need to work on this,” he said with a reassuring smile to try and show that this was fine, “How about I give you a computer opponent?” he offered. She seemed reluctant to fight a person, so maybe she would be willing to try harder against a robot.

“Ok, I can see we are going to need to work on this. How about I give you a computer opponent?”
She nodded. "Yeah. T-that might be better." She could fool herself into fighting a robot. She'd done it numerous times, and didn't think it would be a problem this time.
Going over to a wall Hunter tapped on a console and a wall slid back to reveal a large, well built man dressed in simply military fatigues with a sword over one shoulder. While Hunter could have afforded to build robots to use in the mock danger room, he considered it an unnecessary expense when he had more than enough trained men who could play the part.
The man stepped into the room and stood opposite Paragon. He knew Hunter’s instructions from a screen on the door the relayed what Hunter had entered into the console. “Ok,” said Hunter, standing off to one side so he was out of the way, “What you have to do is to attack him. To win you need to draw blood, well fake blood. Once you cut him you win, sound fair enough?”

A large man entered the room, dressed in military fatigues and holding a sword. Iris's eyes widened slightly. <"Oooo.... he's big....">
“What you have to do is to attack him. To win you need to draw blood, well fake blood. Once you cut him you win, sound fair enough?”
She nodded. That should be simple enough. She was used to the special effects of the Danger Room, so the thought of blood didn't faze her too badly. Had she realized who she was actually fighting, things would have been vastly different.
She took her starting stance again, this time more at ease, though the 'being watched' feeling still hovered in the back of her mind. Again she jabbed forward, more force behind the blows this time. She pressed forward, attempting to drive him back or knock him off-balance. He seemed content to simply knock the blows aside, and she wasn't getting anywhere. Finally, she thrust forward, a bit harder, then spun the scythe forward, as she had the first time. This time, however, she also bent her knees as she slashed, dropping her weight and pushing downward on the top of the staff.
Corporal Maddok, the man currently sparing with Paragon, was unimpressed with the first flurry of attacks, however when she brought the scythe into play he was forced to put some very conscious effort into defending himself.
Whipping his sword up he placed it in the path of the scythe, but the length of the weapon amplified Paragon’s strength, requiring to have both hands on the sword and strain to keep the scythe blade from reaching him. Spinning sideways he slid the weapon away from him and held the sword in a defensive stance, ready for Paragon to try again.

Iris retreated, but only to gain her balance back. Her opponent had strained to keep the attack at bay. Maybe if she could keep him off-balance, she could get in another shot, with more force.
Not being a fighter, she set about it in the only way she ccould think of. She began jabbing and slashing with the spear, aiming for areas that people were naturally protective of; throat, head, wrists, ankles, and groin. She felt contact at one point, but wasn't sure if it was a true hit.
She aimed a thrust at his knee. When he dodged, she put her weight forward swept upwards with the spear tip. As the staff reached the top of the thrust, she kept up the momentum, bringing the scythe end up in a double attack.
Corporal Maddok had never done an exercise where he wasn’t allowed to fight back, and he was beginning to notice that it was far more difficult then it seemed. Without the ability to strike back and keep your opponent off balance you completely surrender the initiative to them, allowing them to dictate the fight.
While he could stave off Paragon’s attacks with the spear end of her weapon, her shift to the scythe came when he was off balance. While he managed to pull himself out the way he stopped as he felt something wet on his thigh. He didn’t need to look down to know that there was a small cut, something that in a real fight he wouldn’t even notice. However, rules of engagement for this session meant Paragon had one, so Maddok withdrew out of the danger room.
“Well done,” praised Hunter, “you got him. I think that’s enough of the ice gem. We’ll take a quick break before giving your liquid control gem a try.” He tossed Paragon a bottle of water before drinking from his own. While Paragon hadn’t had a good fight, on many occasions the Corporal could have finished her off with a counter attack, she had completed the exercise, and with the confidence altering effects of the ice gem he didn’t offer his criticisms.

Iris sighed in relief as her opponent withdrew.
“Well done, you got him." She wasn't disillusioned; she knew that had been a sorry session. But she kept her thoughts to herself, simply relieved it was over.
"I think that’s enough of the ice gem. We’ll take a quick break before giving your liquid control gem a try.”
Her hair had returned to normal almost before she caught the water bottle. She wasn't winded, so she just took a small sip; another sign that she hadn't really put the needed effort into a decent sparring match. She tilted her head as a random thought occurred to her.
"That bot was very realistic... Hmm."
She shrugged, passing it off as extra programming.
Her body quickly reset, right on time. She closed her eyes, letting the Liquid gem take over. In response the water bottle she held floated easily into the air, hovering in front of her face. She smiled easily; the little trick took no effort on her part, as water was the easiest liquid for her to manipulate.
“For this session we’re going to try a few things that you might not have done before,” Hunter said, as he tapped another button and a podium rose up with several beakers of liquid, “Ok, first things first I want you to try and manipulate the liquid in this beaker to hit,” he tapped another button and a wall rose up across the room with a big steel door in it, “the lock on that door.”
“It’s a concentrated acid and should corrode through the lock,” he explained as he tapped some more buttons, “Behind the door are several more obstacles that we’re going to use a different one of these liquids for. But before we can play with them we need to open the door, so when your ready hit it with the acid.”

Without meaning to, Iris yawned, then quickly covered her mouth. "Um... Sorry. Reflex...." She flushed slightly. Stupid side effects.....
She listened carefully to his instructions, examining the beakers at the same time. She wrinkled her nose; something smelled very unpleasant.....
“Ok, first things first I want you to try and manipulate the liquid in this beaker to hit the lock on that door. It’s a concentrated acid and should corrode through the lock."
She looked up, her violet eyes taking in the new obstacle. <"That's easy enough,"> she thought to herself.
"Behind the door are several more obstacles that we’re going to use a different one of these liquids for. But before we can play with them we need to open the door, so when your ready hit it with the acid.”
She smirked easily. The acid was thin, like water, so she didn't even need to concentrate for this first task. The liquid streamed up and out of the beaker in a thin, high-powered stream, and made a straight shot at the lock. Since this gem relaxed her more than the others, her aim was also off-center. She narrowed one eye. The acid had already began eating away at the metal, she concentrated just a bit harder to move it's devouring path to the center of the lock.
It didn't take the entire quantity of fluid to accomplish the task, so what was left over she returned cleanly to the flask. Her attention then turned to what was behind the door....
Her aim was a little off, but asides from that the task was quickly and efficiently completed, and she even conserved the excess acid. Stepping up to the door Hunter pushed it open and stepped through, the podium of liquids following. “This next task will require you to be very careful and for you and me to be standing well back.”
Taking hold of her arm he gently guided Paragon to a safe distance. “Ok, the container with the red circle on it is acetone peroxide, a liquid which will explode when it impacts on something. What I want you to do it carefully take the acetone peroxide and blow a hole in that box with it.” Opposite them was a metal box, three meters by three meters by two meters. If Paragon wasn’t careful she could blow up the podium, so this would be a good test to see if she could utilise delicate control of a liquid.
