The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Zahira frowned. "I don't like getting things for free and have no debt to them if they do, do that... I just don't like feeling like a burden more then an asset to people. I'd much rather find some way to repay them for what they're doing..." She said awkwardly. "I would say I understand.... but I really don't.... and I'd reather not lie." She said with a shrug of her shoulders.
Zahira raised an eyebrow at him. "Ya call that lame? I call that really cool, even if you can't control it very well. Way better then meh powers." She said nodding to what he said.
As she watched him do tree climbing her jaw dropped slightly at the sight. She watched him like a hawk as he fell and landed back on his feet. She closed her mouth, as he came back over to her and asked her what her powers were. She shook her head and walked over to the tree he had just climbed and took out her left hand and took off her glove, and put it to the tree. "Its better I show ya then try to explain..." She said.
She waited for five minutes to pass....
Once five minutes passed the tree started to whilt and wither and die. The bark got old rotten and blackened, the leaves turned black and got blown away with the wind of the storm. She slipped her glove back on. "I can well kill things.... plants, flowers, animals, humans, mutants." She said. "But thats only if people touch any part of my skin for five minutes... but when I get angry or mad... the time limit decreases and it takes a shorter amount of time for me to kill something or someone, the longer I stay angry.... the shorter the time limit is..." She explained just incase he didn't understand what she had just did. "Don't worry.... I'm not phsyco... I don't go around killing people...." She said quickly, not wanting to scare the first person who had talked to her so openly, like she was a person, not like freaky killer, that she got labed as when people found out her powers.
"...." Dominic watched Zahira. He watched her hand and he watched the tree. He watched the tree die. The tree died when she touched it after 5 minutes. This girl literally had the touch of death. Dominic didn't really know how to respond to what he had just seen. What do you say to a girl that kills things by touching them? Then she went on to explain how the time limit shortens whenever she gets angry. This was definitely not a chick to piss off. Still he had to say something. It'd be rude not to.
"I didn't think you went around killing people in the first place," he finally answered back. He wanted to compliment her gifts as she had his...but what was something positive he could say about a girl who involuntarily kills things if she touches them long enough. "It's a nice talent," he said with a nervous smile. "I mean, even after what I've just seen, I still think you're an okay person. I don't mind your powers..." he said. He lied, partially anymore. He really did think she was a nice girl and he didn't mind her powers...as long as he never ended up like that tree.
"Anyways, we should probably get started walking. Cause I don't like being cold and wet, ya know?" he laughed. "Also I understand your views on getting free things but, well before I came here, I didn't have anyone and no one really bothered to help me. The people at the mansion did and they'll help you. Like I said, we can talk to my bro if you'd like." he said. "So...where are you from?" he asked continuing small talk.
Zahira could just tell. She had that feeling that this male was lying to her either that or he was afraid of her. Either way she was right no-the-less. She could just sense it when people thought her powers were freaky, scary or when it made them nervous to be around her. She knew that rather well, better then anyone else, since she had done it all her life, but never understood what she had done, what she could do. Until a few years ago.
Zahira shook her head and looked away from him and down at the ground. "Don't lie..." She said quietly. "Yer afraid of meh.... that's normal.... mostly everyone is who sees my gift... or maybe its more of a curse then a gift..." She said quietly. "Don't worry I'm not mad. I'm use to it. Even mutants fear those who can kill with a single touch.... Its normal. Its life. Its what makes us human." She said calmly, as she started walking, stuffing her hands into the pocket of her hoodie.
She didn't bother to answer his first question cause she was already walking away toward her apartment. She was frowning to herself. "That's understandable." She said quietly. "Those people... can they really help me control it? Control this crusaded power?" She asked. "But I would like to talk with yer brother..." She said in a forced lighter tone of voice. "As for where I come from... I came from allot of places, Mississippi and Japan, and other states from the many foster homes I've been to in my past." She answered the forced lighter tone continued.
"I'm not afraid..." Dominic lied through his teeth. "Ok, I'm a bit you know...a bit nervous, but I've never met anyone who could kill other things by touching it. I don't want to judge you like that though. On your power. It's better to get to know the person behind the mutation. Then if I were to find out you were deranged and went around touching people to fill some blood lustful desire that drives your insanity...then I'd be afraid and never speak to you again, but here I am walking you home on a dark rainy night, digging myself a deeper grave because I'm gonna be super pass my curfew. It's worth it though. You seem interesting. I like the arts myself." he smiled.
"I don't know if the mansion people can help you control it, if that is something that can be controlled. I do know that they wouldn't turn their backs on you because of your gift, and that they'd treat you just like everyone else. It's kind of one big family of freaks I guess. At least from what I've experienced so far." he stayed silent once again listening to Zahira list off the places she's lived. "Japan huh? I've always wanted to travel there someday. People talk about how weird they are..." he laughed nervously remembering some of the bizaar videos and animes he had come across on the internet. "I guess we have something else in common. I used to be in a foster home before I came and met Sam. I was sent back to the orphanage when they discovered what I was. Kind of sucked...but I'm trying to get passed that." he sighed. "I've been learning a lot of things....how it's important to let go of the ast because...there's nothing you can really do about it. Just learn from it and keep on going. Ya know?"
She raised an eyebrow at him. "Ya know, lying a waste of time.... I just tell when someone's lying. I'm been around liars a very long time, so its easy to tell who lies who doesn't." Zahira said as she looked away from him. "Figures...." She whispered crossly. Zahira blinked at what he said next. "Wow that's the first time someone's actuarially ever tired that approach before..." She commented. "Sucks yer digging yer own grave." She said shaking her head. She blinked as a question popped into her head. "Does talking to yerself mark ya as insane?" She asked. She smirked slightly at him. "People just consider me psycho and run away from me." She said rolling her eyes. "Usually its the other way around. I find people interesting and try to make conversation, for once I'm the interesting one." She said shrugging her shoulders lightly. "Hmm that's a first, someone who likes art, I never would of guessed." She said.
Zahira listened to him. "I didn't think they could..." She said quietly. "Wouldn't surprise me if no one could." She added meaning her power and controlling it. "We'll see.... who abandons who..." She said quietly, meaning the X-mansion and if she were to go there. She snorted quietly. "I've given up on finding a family..." She said scornfully. She listened as he talked about Japan and how people said they were weird. "That's like saying one mutant is a outcast and outcasting it from the society of mutants. When it should be treated like every other mutant." She said calmly. "So therefore Japan isn't weird, it's just different." She said shrugging her shoulders, her tone light.
Zahira paused as she heard him say foster homes. "I guess we do.... how many have ya been in? I've been 17 maybe more only to be tossed back into the orphanage after my powers activated.... so I think I've killed allot of people without knowing it. My powers activated prematurely, and I was too young to understand what was going on." She said shaking her head. "That was until a few years ago of course, maybe the time when I was around 13, that's when I had figured out that I was a mutant and that my power was deadly and frightening." She said shaking her head. "Yeah I guess.... that's one way to look at it." She said. "I've learned allot of things as well." She said shrugging her shoulders. "But yeah I get where yer going." She said. She could see her apartment a bit clearer now as they walked. She did have to admit this conversation was going rather well? For once.
"Well, I've only been in one foster home..." Dominic said feeling a bit guilty. This whole time he moped about having been abandoned once when this girl had been in seventeen and was tossed away for the same reason he was, because he was a mutant. Another difference was the fact that he found family, his flesh and blood in Sam while Zahira....she didn't seem to have anyone but herself and that just wasn't the way it should be. Everyone needs someone. At least that's what he thought. "Well....despite the fact that you've been by yourself...you don't have to be. Like I said, just come check the mansion out and even if you don't...You have me as a friend." Dominic smiled.
"Um...here....dang, you have a pen or anything? I was gonna give you my cell phone number in case you ever needed someone to talk to or if you ever wanted to hang out. I'm pretty much always available. So, yeah." he said nervously as he blushed. He wasn't exactly the type to be so open with a girl, but there he was offering himself as a companion and confidant. Maybe a bit of a charmer was actually rubbing off on him from being around his brother?
Zahira nodded. "Lucky ya." She muttered quietly to him. She blinked her eyes open when she heard what he had said next. "Yeah.... OK... I'll check it out... but at what time would be a good idea to stop by? And.... if I do... when are ya normally there?" She found herself saying "yes" and asking when he'd be there... cause damn she didn't wnat to just show up and get all awakward around other people. She still wasn't much of a people person, dispite this stupid social act she put on. She smiled at him, when he said he'd be her friend regardless, but she wondered if that would last, she doubted it would, cause what if she did something? What if she accidently killed someone close to this male? He wouldn't be her friend then, would he? At least that's how she figured it to be. Plus her mental walls, the walls she had built around herself and her mind to keep herself from getting too close to people and it was to keep people from getting too close to her. Her walls were very hard to crack or break completely.
She blinked again at him, asking her for a pen or something? Lucky him, she had one. Zahira reached into her cloak pocket and pulled out a pen and a small pad of drawing paper, that had her drawings in there, she figured he could use one of the blank pages. She held them both out to him. "Here." She said calmly, if not a bit shyly. "That'd be nice." She added to what he had said about talking or hanging out.
"Heh, I'm always there. I don't really have that much else to do and I don't know that many other people so....yeah. You're actually the first person I met outside the mansion. To be friends with I mean." Dominic smiled. "Anytime during the day is fine. Though I'd have to say the early to mid-afternoon even though the mansion's doors are open 24/7. I just said the afternoon cause that's usually when my bro is in his office and you can talk to him."
Taking the pen and pad, the blonde jotted down his number quickly seeing as he didn't want the paper to get completely wet and the ink to smear. "Here you go my lady," he smiled returning the pad and pen to the girl. He looked down at his watch discovering it was about to go on 3am. He was so dead, but maybe if he were to inform Sam of why he had arrived home so late because he was being a gentleman and walking a cute girl home, he might be spared. "I guess I better be heading home myself. Be sure to give me a ring. Ok?"
Zahira nodded to him, taking her notepad and her pen back from him. "Thanks. I'll keep that in mind. Sure I'll give ya a call." She said as she smiled at him, and walked toward her door, opening it with her free arm and hand. "Yeah ya better get home. Good luck with yer brother, and be careful when walking home." She said with a smile as she disappeared though the open door and walked away toward the elevator to go up to her floor in the apartment complex.
