The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"Yeah whatever, like I'd believe a guy who tied me up and chucked me down a hole!" Tris continued, putting a definite, sulky slanting accent to her words. She crossed her arms and glared at him, through it seemed too much effort even to move her arms this minute amount- not that she'd let him know this, nor the fact that she was kicking herself for over extending herself so much as well.... but ya know, that really wasn't the issue here, Tris was mad at Hunter cause he broke her trust by being mean to her and Kit, and chased them, and tied her up and THREW HER DOWN A HOLE- and how could she even believe him when he'd said she'd been perfectly safe, as if....and yes it had crossed her mind she was being beyond childish right now, but, but, there were rules, and if anyone was gonna tie her up they so had to ask, and really to be honest, she really looked up to Hunter, he was the first one ever really give her a chance with her powers and accept her and everything....and she didn't know she trusted him anymore- and that was the saddest thing- he seemed like such a great guy.
As the room had stopped exploding Hunter assumed that Tris had calmed down enough to at least listen to him. Pulling over a chair he took a seat next to her bed. “I apologise for my rather rough approach to the training,” he began, “But first of all I would like to congratulate you.”
“You did a fantastic job, far better than I had expected. The pair of you together showed something quite remarkable, determination. I’ve know battle hardened soldiers who would have backed down from the challenge facing you, but you stuck with it, and because of that you won, Kitra got the disc across the line.”
Tris simply rolled her eyes- which kinda made her head twinge alittle but it was all for the attitude cause, at Hunter's apology for his self termed 'rough approach' during the course...'rough' was the understatement of the century, but then Hunter went on with the praising- which was always a good strategy to use on one Trista Evans, she allowed herself to get slightly distracted.
"Really?...We won? Wow.......HA- musta got cha with a freeze after all huh." she exclaimed, trying to squirm up alittle in the bed, which, OUCH, not a good idea for tired muscles. Tris nodded tiredly and smiled in remembrance at the event not long past; "Well, I had a good partner." she muttered. "Kit did a real great job back there."
Hunter smiled at Tris and helped her up into a sitting position. “You both did exceptionally well,” he said, “There are few mutants who could hope to go toe to toe with me, even when working in a pair. Between you you managed to work your way past me and complete your mission.”
“However,” Hunter continued, his voice taking on a more serious tone, “despite your success it wasn’t a perfect run through. Mistakes were made, some of them serious ones. In time I believe that the pair of you can become a truly potent combination, you’ve shown clear signs of that, but you still have a way to go.”
Tris slowly and sleepily made her way into a sitting position, unthinkingly letting Hunter help her up, smiling still with the news that she'd helped Kit win the game.
And when Hunter's tone took a more serious turn, Tris caught herself listening and agreeing with the man she still didn't trust yet. "I know." she answered woefully. "I made so many mistakes, there was just no time to think.....thats no excuse though." She sighed, and cause she was tired, the confessions slipped through. "Guess its back to the practice rooms for me......I just worked so hard, and I still have so far to go, its daunting at times."
Hunter listened to Tris and decided to reveal something to her. “I’ll let you in on a little secret,” he said, “You’re far ahead of where I was when I was your age. I look completely calm and composed when I fight, but that comes from more experience than you can imagine.”
“I know I only look like I’m in my mid twenties, but in truth I am over four hundred years old.”
Now that did it, all thoughts of annoyance, anger, confusion, and betrayal were gone, pushed out to make much need room for....all this. Her mind was blank, her mouth hung open- she imagined it would have looked quite comical to on onlooker, but really, her now, in the state of mind she was in, dropping a piece of information on her like that- Tris was totally floored.
"You....What!." She managed when she eventually got mouth and voice in working order, then looking into his eyes for any traces of a joke. "You're not like, getting a laugh out of the gullible girl are you?" and then when she still failed to see any traces of the amusement signaling he was having her on, she whispered in amazed wonderment. "Are you an immortal or something?"
“As far as anyone can tell yes,” Hunter answered, “I have already live five times as long as humans are expected to, and see no reason that I should stop now.” He wasn’t overly surprised by her reaction, most people responded like that when he told them how old he was.
“And it because I am that old that I am as skilled as I am, I’ve had a lot of time to practise.” Asides from his abilities Hunter had no natural skill for combat, but everything comes with practise, and he’s had four centuries worth.
"Yeah, thats alot of training sessions." was Tris's not so witty response, before her brow furrowed in thought, something was obviously still bugging her; "The immortal thing, does that make you immune to anything in particular? Is that how you were able to deflect my freezes?" Yep, she was still hung up on that.
“Deflecting your freezes is another little trick of mine, Hunter said with a wry smile, “and one that I’ll let you in on so long as you don’t tell anyone else. The same goes for the immortality to.” He waited a moment to check her resolve before continuing.
“Along with superhuman strength, agility, senses and immortality I have another ability. I’m psychic. By making eye contact with someone I can enter their mind and alter their thoughts. That’s how I deflected the freezes. By altering your thoughts I make you unable to harness your ability.” He now waited to see how she would react.
Tris was still mad at Hunter, really mad, or trying to be atleast, with the tiredness and the weird fuzzy head it was hard not to let the 'so honored that he would chose to share his secrets with her' feeling to swamp her consciousness.
"Wow, you've just got a grab bag of cool powers huh...someone up there must have given you the party pack." she muttered once her mind had absorbed this news, barely keeping in the 'thats so cool' that she wanted to say, before shaking her head and getting their briefing back on track. "Well, that solves that mystery then.....I suppose from your momentous amount of experience our little training session looked like a joke." she sighed at that. "So you might as well tell me what I most have to concentrate on to improve."
“Abiding by the rules of the exercise, which was not causing the pair of you any serious harm, it was actually quite challenging,” Hunter admitted, “Mutants are something that while I have some experience in, not as much as I would like. In another fifty years or so it’ll be another matter, but right now the sheer variety of mutants still keeps me on my toes.”
“As for where to improve, shooting without using your hands to aim is critical,” he said, “Where you able to do that and I would have had no choice but to knock you out before I tied you up. As it was your random shots were difficult enough, but if you had accurate aim I would have had a much harder time.”
Tris couldn't help a tiny smile creeping across her features, feeling insanely proud that, within the limits of the game, they had offered the immortal some small challenge at the very least.
Though as Hunter highlighted a definite area of improvement was her using her powers without her hands, Tris sighed deeply again, it was kinda a sore point with her. "I know, I know, I gotta work on that.....Its just hard, its not much of an excuse, but I've been using my hands to access my powers since I knew I had em....hard habit to break it all." She then thought of something, gazing at Hunter more closely and defiantly feeling alittle more alert now they were talking powers. "So, your psychic right? altering thoughts, like really good hypnosis or something....anything you could do to help the breaking the habit think? speed things up abit, cause I dont wanna be a drain to the team, and with the mutant bill and everything, I need control fast."
“Do you know, I’ve been doing something similar with Kitra,” Hunter said with a smile although he didn’t say that what he was doing with Kitra was a damned sight harder. “I think I could do the same for you, if you’re willing to let me have a rummage around in your mind to try and find an off switch for your habit.”
It would be interesting, as he had never done anything quite like this. He’d used his powers to give someone a habit, Calley’s habit to not talk about things he should keep secret for example, but he’d never tried to turn off a habit. It should prove an interesting challenge, something Tris had provided a lot of.
"....I dunno..." Tris hesitated, she was tired, decisions seemed abit much at the moment, besides, he still threw her down a hole of something didn't he? But mainly she was weirded out by anyone else but her traipsing around her mind but her- it was alittle more private than a diary after all, and it was her head. "I guess we could try, cause it will help.....will it hurt?"
