The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

“Hey Crystal? You can see me right?”
Crystal tilted her head and blinked. "Of course," she replied, curiosity in her vocal tone. "I can see you quite clearly."
She tilted her head the other way. "I am guessing from your tone of voice that I shouldn't be able to?"
The child was supposed to have the ability to become invisible, as far as Crystal knew. Since she had access to biological and infrared scanners, she hadn't worried about losing track of Katrina in the grounds. The possibility that Katrina's powers wouldn't affect her had not crossed her thought pattern.

"Well, I'm supposed top be invisible at the moment, but apparently my powers don't affect you." She turned to Pluto and asked, "She looks completely solid to you, right? Just checking."
"She looks solid to me. I would believe she was really solid except that you just gave me reason not to."
"You're invisible now? How curious....." Crystal was intrigued. Why didn't the girl's abilities affect her? She couldn't come up with a reason why not.
Her image blinked in and out when Pluto attempted to touch her. An mischievous expression settled on her face, completely out of place for the twelve-year-old body she was currently wearing.
"Hey now, watch it. Personal space, thank you." She turned to Katrina. "We'll have to experiment further, sometime. Even though I'm electronically-based, I'm very curious to know the extent of your abilities. Perhaps we can find a way to fool the electronic eye, not simply the organic one. Hmm.... perhaps bionic?"
She filed the information away, to process at a later date.
Katrina grinned when Pluto's hand went through the faux-Katrina. She said that she was electronically based, but she definately had a personality and a sense of humor.
>>>"We'll have to experiment further, sometime. Even though I'm >>> electronically-based, I'm very curious to know the extent of your >>>abilities. Perhaps we can find a way to fool the electronic eye, not >>>simply the organic one. Hmm.... perhaps bionic?"
Katrina nodded to the ghostly version of herself, "Perhaps."
She didn't know what bionic was and she wasn't sure how much to trust a computer program with knowing the "full extent" of her powers, since she wasn't sure who had access to what Crystal found out. Her original form had looked like Iris which could mean that Iris made her, but maybe she just liked copying the way people looked. On the other hand, if she ever came face to face with a Stalker robot... it might be worth the risk of having Crystal help her. She could also get to know more about Crystal before doing any more training with her.
>>>Speaking of curiosity should we get you to the top of a tower Princess?
"Aw, do we have to?" Katrina asked. She was having fun setting up bobby traps and being part of the action, but she had been invisible for quite awhile now and it would probably be wise to rest for awhile.
"How will we know what is happening?" What she really wanted to do was spy on the progress of the teams. That could be silly though, since it would mean she was closer to them and thus closer to being found. It probably was wiser to go up to some high up place where they could watch what was going on.
Katrina’s invisible eyes twinkled as Pluto set up his last water bucket booby trap, “I think since the teams don’t want to find any of your brothers that are going to make trouble, it would be trickiest if you pretended to be one of your brothers that wasn’t with me. Then they will be more likely to run away from you than toward, and they won’t think to look for me right under their noses. Does Neptune know that you’re the one that is with me, ‘cause we might have to avoid his team if he does.”
Ideas for further mischief flittered across Katrina’s brain. She wasn’t a mischievous child normally, since she generally wanted to get along with others and didn’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings. In this setting, though, no one’s feelings would get hurt because it was all part of a game. It was a game she was enjoying, too. She didn’t focus on the fact that this game was actually training for a battle.
It would be great to be at the front lines, but they couldn’t actually find the front lines. Katrina had long since lost complete track of where they were. “Well, it seems like we’ve been all over the castle, and we haven’t seen any of the teams yet, so maybe they are all outside or something.”
They passed through another hall, went through another doorway, and continued through another corridor. This particular corridor was filled with ominous looking dark banners hanging from the ceiling. They were thick with dust. It looked like no one had been in this area for a long time.
>>> “Don't worry if we have to make a quick escape I will wrap my tail around you so you won't get hurt.”
A tail-hug get-away sounded good to Katrina, “It’s too bad you can’t open the void like Neptune, and too bad you don’t know if it works on people ‘cause that would make a pretty good get-away too.”
>>>“What do you mean it doesn’t work on other people? And believe me I have tried to make them appear, I just can’t."
Katrina tilted her head at Abyss' comment. "When Neptune and Mars were talking to me in the library that one time they said that they weren't sure that it was safe for people to go in the void. Remember? You were reading Animorphs or something, that book about the kids that can change into different animals. They said they were going to try it out on a mouse or something. Did you get it to work?"
There was an excitement in Katrina's voice when she asked that last question. She had thought at the time that it would be really cool to see what it was like to be in the void, to see what it was like to be in a world where there were no senses, only thoughts.
