The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Tris’s suite of rooms was nestled near the western edge of the Mondragon complex, after all her months here, she could find this place within the labyrinth of the center with ease- Venus on the other hand, well to see if he could actually find her den in this maze would at least test out his map reading or threatening a worker abilities.
As she entered the room, the pre-programmed sound system immediately began to play the latest in the list of tracks she’d downloaded.
I would die for you by Garbage came on full blast and Tris, dipping and weaving in sinuous movements, danced her way to the bathroom, shedding clothes as she went. After a long soak in the shower, the hard part began- date clothes…
Going over to the wardrobe, she sighed at the stuffed racks and rolled her eyes- she never had anything good to wear. In front of a full length mirror she tried on outfit after outfit and viewed the effect with a critical eye- too casual, too formal-y, too goth, too going to an interview, too slutty, not slutty enough, too pop star-esque…..the dismissed outfits thrown hap hazard on the bed- grrrr, being a girlie girl was so annoying some times.
Though finally, when all hope seemed lost- the perfect ensemble presented itself: a pretty little strappie black dress that came down to just above her knees with a really flow-ie skirt that flared when she turned, jewellery to match and low and sensible strappie heels, the whole effect said in subtle apparel talk- I’m here, I wanna have a good time, but try get fresh and I might just kick you with my tasteful yet pointy heels. Another quicker trip to the bathroom for hair and makeup and she was done.
She crossed over to the pathway of clothes leading to the shower she’d shed earlier, retrieving the red ‘call me’ card Venus had given her earlier and her mobile. Letting her fingers do the walking, she dialled the number.
When he answered, a big grin spread on her face he couldn’t see- this would be fun; “Hey, I’m ready and waiting for you to pick me up from my door like a gentleman should.” She stated straight to the point, before going on with the teasing; “You better hurry up now, a girl might change her mind if left waiting too long.” She laughed at that and hung up. Now the ball was in his court and all she had to do was wait.
Tris's grin faded awhile later as she sat down on the bed, using the remote to flick on the tv and tried to watch something while she waited for Venus....
But she couldn't get settled. That was boring, millions of channels and there was nothing good on right now- figured. She switched the tv off and jumped up, pacing the length of the bed a time or two before spying her trail of clothing she'd shed earlier, and swooped down to pick, fold, and put them in the appropriate places.
That done, she drummed her fingers on the laundry basket for afew moments, cussing herself just now for hanging up on Venus, it was a cool idea at the time but if she didn't she'd atleast have an estimate of where he was.....Tris really hated waiting sometimes.
She did find something to keep her occupied though- the heap of clothes on her bed. As she was in the middle of rehanging all her 'not quite' outfits, knocking sounded from the door. A grin tugged at her lips as she got her bag- show time.
Opening the door, her gaze wandered openly and appreciatively over her red companion for this evening. But she still managed to raise a eyebrow and say with an innocent expression; "You're not the Avon lady." Pausing for just the right amount of time before giving up the joke. Smiling, and brown eye twinkling, she opened with the incredibly articulate opener that have served men and women so well in the past; "Hey.
Tris curtsied lightly at Venus's compliments as he came to the door, a fun loving smile on her features as he noted her surviving a meeting with Pluto.
But then he was looking at her with a considering expression, twisting her words for gentlemanly behavior with which she'd teased him with earlier, and before she had more than a moment to realize what he was intended, before she could protest, he swooped down and scooped her up in his arms.
Tris squealed in rather child like delight, wrapping her arms around his neck and laughing, enjoying the rather impromptu ride Venus was taking her on. "Well, aren't you just full of surprises." she said appreciatively, as she was slowly lowered to her feet, and ushered into the waiting very sleek, very shiny, very powerful red sports car.
She waited her him to get in before asking the much anticipated question: "So, where we going?" while doing up her seat belt.
"So I picked the nicest Italian place on Kaz's list of mutant friendly restaurants." was his reply.
"Nice," she approved, she would have said more, but Venus's hand brushing across her knee made her forget the rest of her words momentarily as a pleasant shiver ran through her body.
Venu's innocently went back to driving, but Tris still threw him a very pronounced 'I know what you're doing, you can't fool me' look. "Ya know, I happen to be atad ticklish, and when I get ticklish I get startled, and when I get startled, thing blow up." she said in a conversational tone....it was a joke of course.....or was it...
Venus's response to her startled comment was " Oh, the things blow up do they? Sounds like fun.” Brushing over the whole pain and possible dangerous death thing in his usual irrepressible way....grudgingly, she had to admire that.
"Oh well they are.....for me atleast, not sure about the other guy though." Tris joked along.
After that they sat in silence awhile, Tris staring out the window, allowing herself to be mesmerized by the blurring lights of the city and the cars that they sped past.
“Would you like to press our luck and go somewhere else after we eat? Or simply back to the labs…which could be just as entertaining.” he inquired and shook his head at his persistence.
Tris was drawn back to herself by Venus's persistence questions, a small smile tugging at her lips at his persistent, irrepressible, and undyingly optimistic persona....but she couldn't let him have the satisfaction of letting him see that. So instead she shook her head vaguely and said with a short laugh; "Ha....hmmm, ummm, why dont we see if we can get to the end of dinner without finding we hate each others guts first for we jump to other activities." she suggested in a fake bright tone.
“ So what kind of music do you listen too? Favorite color? Movie?” was his next question. Tris chuckled quietly, saying mockingly; "Oh, so its the interrogation part of the evening now is it." even though she didn't mind, he was only doing the getting to know you think like she'd said. "Okay, hmmm, with music- hard to chose, but maybe grunge rock style of thing, like they did for the queen of the damned soundtrack- something you could drown in." and an evil little smile there, even though she was only talking about dancing. "As to color." she went on. "Black" with a wink. "Or if you dont accept black as a true color- purple......and movie." she looked quizzically into space for a moment, deciding on choices before shaking her head and giving up, "sorry, can't chose just one, too many I really like." with a shrug. "And you- same questions?" she fired back.
Tris was a good listener when she wanted to be, nodding along to his choices as Venus was listing them, though at the 'brown eyes' comment, she had to chuckle and stop him; "Dont you ever stop?" she laughed.
“ as far as a favorite movie, I Suppose I would have to pick Casa Blanca, its such a classic and well directed not to mention acted. It Ranks up high, of course I can deal with some action movies as well, pulp fiction and fight club are not to shabby. Memento has a nice twist to it.”
And the by the time Venus got to his favorite movies, they were just about pulling up a rather expensive looking restaurant, complete with valet parking.
Tris noted with interest, that though Venus did tend to stand out, the valet didn't even bat an eyelid at his rather more extraordinary than human appearance- Venus must not have been kidding about the mutant friendly places.
Tris gave a quick "thanks" to the valet, as he held open the door for her, then she was stepping out of the car and walking around to find Venus, offering an arm to escort her inside. Tris took the offered arm, linked it with hers, and allowed Venus to lead her inside......She would never cop to it, but damn she was so loving all this, the car, the restaurant, and the unlikely gentlemen being played by Venus, being treated as a lady should.
All that time in the past few months stuck at the labs and training and training to exhaustion.....she really should have got out more.
Tris's amused glance swept from side to side, taking in the entire area of the wide lobby, the tile work, the marble pillars, and the people and more interestingly, their reactions- some were shocked as she expected to see a slight girl on the arm of a red giant of a man, but most showed an entire lack of interest borne of long exposure to the slightly out of the ordinary, epically the employees, well to put it bluntly, she would think twice before playing poker with any of them.
They made it to the elevator without incident, though Venus seemed slightly on edge, as though always expecting the metaphorical other shoe to drop. However since nothing untoward jumped out at them, they both moved into the elevator and Venus pressing the button for the desired floor.
All was quiet in the elevator apart from the lovely and oh so catchie random music that played through the speakers. Tris leaned casually against the wall the the moving room, upturned lips suggesting a smirk as she stared tight lipped at Venus. She had no intention of asking any question yet- liking the subtle unsettling effect she could have on people simply by her continued silence, oh she would, that was one of the main points of a date after all- but this was fun in its way too.
Venus however was not unsettled, apparently if he didn't have conversation to focus on he would grow bored if he didn't think of something else to do. The way his fingers crept slowly towards the emergency button, and the very guilty smile he was giving her were definite clues of his intentions.
Tris couldn't help but chuckle quietly at his 'I'm so innocent, what you looking at me for' expression, as with an inward sigh she decided to give in and actually say something.....otherwise they could be in that lift for quite awhile and if the restaurant closed before they got there- Tris would not be a happy camper. Putting on a mockingly admonishing tone, Tris remarked; "Now Venus, a good boy like you wouldn't be thinking about doing anything mischievous would you."
Venus's comment of; " I would never, ever do anything mischievous,"
Got a burst of laughter from Tris, she uncurled from the wall she was leaning against, sidling up to Venus and looking him in the eye....before thwacking him in the chest with the back on her hand- it wouldn't hurt him, was more funny than anything else. "Just who do you think you're dealing with?" she demanded. "As if I'd believe you, your not exactly up on my most credible sources list." she stuck her tongue out at him.
Luckily or maybe unluckily as the case may be, a chiming sounds announced their arrival at the intended floor and so, for now atleast, any dastardly plans Venus might have were put on hold.
Tris stepped past Venus to be met by the host of this little shindig. She smiled politely at him while Venus handled all the reservation stuff as she looked around- very nice, Tris defiantly approved.
They were quickly lead to what Tris would guess was the most private, exclusive, and expensive table in the house- Venus didn't skimp on the luxuries, Tris aproved of that too.
"Thanks." she commented as Venus pulled her chair out for her, before waiting for him to sit down. "Well, here we are." she said with a grin once he did, as a hand came up to her face to sweep away a stray lock of hair from her face. "Its beautiful here." she complimented, before going on with; "Though just between you and me, I might maybe have forgotten to mention I would have been just as happy with acoupla slices from down town." A bright and rather annoyingly cheery grin followed this statement, before she slouched back in her chair, watching Venus intently. Tris spread her ahnds out in a wide, expansive gesture covering the whole room; "So here we are in this big and expensive restaurant.....from all the literature of dates I've read, I do believe you have to keep me entertained now.....so entertain me, show me what cha got." she finished with a giggle, the last part definitely a dare.
Tris had to chuckle along quietly at some of Venus' answers to her questions, wanting to ask if he'd used pep pills instead of sugar this morning, as he was laying it on alittle thick. But Venus was undeterred by her amused looks and subtle snigger's, and he was saying such lovely things thats she didn't have it in her heart to interrupt him completely. .....though her radar for teasing did well and truly pick up the "first date" thing- as in first of many. Tris's eyes sparkled at the thought of all the ways she could pay him out for that one.
Tris was having a lovely time, testing Venus out, see what his reactions were, yet even prepared for the outrageousness of his responses, Venus' reply to her 'challenge' had her in stitches laughing.
“While, I am sure that you know very well that am capable of keeping you more than entertained, I dare say that even in this private of a table it isn’t quite appropriate for me to show you what all I’ve got.”
He reached out for her then, and she held her breath at the suddenly intimate gesture of him, pushing that same stray lock behind her ear.....that was....nice.
In this break of question, Venus decided to turn the tables on her, so to speak. Putting her on the offensive now, good move, not that she liked it over much-
“Do you think I am the only one that is to do the entertaining, my dear? Am I such a trinket to you?” He then smiled and took his cloth napkin and began folding and rolling it until it became an intricate rose and handed it over to her. “I think that perhaps, I might need to see your stuff as well.”
"Of course you are a trinket to me." she agreeably answered with a wink as she took the beautiful napkin rose and set it to balance perfectly on her glass; ".....though you should note, some trinkets hold great value, and some are just junk....." trailing off, and not giving an opinion on where he was now on her particularly trinket o meter. While saying this also, she had gotten ahold of her own napkin, folding it secretly on her lap into a simple fan, and when the perfect opportunity arose from his words I might need to see your stuff as well. She proceeded to hand the simple device over with great ceremony and a solemn expression; "For you- In case I get too hot to handle." she intoned....the ponderous and serious moment ruined by the hugely smug smirk spreading across her features. Before settling back into her seat in a 'game set and match' kinda attitude; "Now now lovely" she mocked, "You'll see my cards when and if I deem you should.......so in the meanwhile, lets settle back and have a good old fashion chat, enjoy ourselves abit." Now again sitting up straighter, and proceeding with the question part of the evening; "So, Venus- what is it like being one of seven brothers? What was your childhood like? Pluto get on your nerves alot? Do all you guys have like a twin connection style of thing- like, do you always know where eachother is?" she began with many curious questions, approaching this friendly topic from the view that Venus was a person in his own right, and not making snide clone jokes.
“Yes I do.” Tris replied, not skipping a beat. “I have four other siblings, and they are all annoying…..but that particular assumption is from a middle sister perspective, so it might be argued to be slightly biased.” She smirked slightly at that, before going on; “As to- my childhood meeting the same fate as other x gene children, I’m not sure I understand what you mean….if you’re saying, did my family shun me and turn me out as soon as they found out about my special gifts (she winked), then no. Fortunately for me, I had luck, a talent for story telling and a rather busy family on my side there, there is something to be said for self involved people after all don’t you find. So to make a long story slightly shorter- to my knowledge they never knew…..I mean, the first time I used my powers, I actually blew up the couch with all my brothers and sisters in the room, but again luckily, they were all very young and since the accident blamed on faulty wiring, it was eventually forgotten….cause after all, there’s no way that sort of stuff happens to normal people.” She laughed at that, eyes full of mirth and remembered reminiscence at the close calls. With a pleasant sigh she finished, shaking her head lightly; “Ahhhh, I was so shit scared in those days. “ Tris picked up her glass, pouring in some water, and brought the drink to her lips for a quick sip. “……..Anyway, don’t want to bore you, so- where do I see myself in 5 years?....Ummm, well, with all this stupid anti mutant feeling at the moment, hopefully alive, would be a good one. (the smile that accompanied that joke was interesting, laughing and deadly serious at the same moment). Another than that, I don’t rightly know I guess- abit boring in that respect….Guess I haven’t really thought about it….Ha, I’ve been so fixated all my life on actually meeting some real live mutants, find someone to train me, help me with my control….and I found that, and my life is going along fine, thanks to Hunter- lucky he found me (she flashed a big, happy grin at that)…..So anyway, to answer I would have to say- still working on my power potential and control, still finding and protecting more mutants from public hate……Though that all does make me sound rather saint like doesn’t it, and I’m hardly that…..Hmmmm, I wouldn’t mind owning my own niteclub one day.” Tris stopped abruptly, realizing she’d been talking far to long, far to honestly for her own liking, so she began to question him again, feeling better asking the questions than answering them.
“What about you Venus- where do you see yourself in five years? And also, a good question I find at parties and such- what is your pet hate?”,
~“ I would like to also think that I would by then have had your heart fluttering after mine for some time.” He smirked and then turned it to another dry bit of the date, menu hunting, he already new exactly what he would have but he would pretend to peruse the foods, if Tris needed some time simple to not make her fill rushed.~
That statement set Tris into a case of the giggles of epic porpotions for a few minutes, and after she had subsided, taken a mouthful of water and felt calm enough again, she looked at his, eyes bright in a mischievous expression. “Now that might be abit of wishful thinking on your part.” Was all she said to that, winking at him wickedly.
She had been slightly awed by Venus’s forceful speech on his 5 year plan, seeming to involve humanities complete acceptance of mutant kind of else, so she had said nothing about it. Its not that Tris particularly disagreed with any point in general- it was a good goal and would be to her own benefit after all, but since meeting Venus and listening to the other Abyss clones, she knew they’re approach to threats, violence, and killing seemed rather more liberal than her own ……its just while she would do what she had too, under all her teasing, bravado, and ‘can’t shock me’ persona, she still had a soft spot for normal people, like her family and friends growing up…..more than ever, it was becoming apparent that Tris and Venus’s attitudes differed on afew important points- there was no telling where that could lead.
~“What do you think you might eat?” The wine is a very good year and vineyard; they will bring us white as well if you pick something that favors its particular taste. Or by all means if you prefer some other beverage order away.”~
Interrupted from her inward musings by the question, Tris smiled, picking up the menu and perusing that on offer- there was so much that looked really good. “Hmmmmm,” she considered, thinking of ordering a line of the more raunchily named cocktails just to see what he’d say.....no, perhasp after dinner. “As I said in our discussion earlier, I don’t know my wines as well as say- you, for example. And since it seems you know a fair bit, it would appear safe to leave my entire dining selection in your very capable hands.” Shifting forward and reaching her own hand across the table and stroking one of his holding his menu for just a few moments, accompanying this gesture with a saucily grin, before sitting back again, seemingly out of reach. “Also, you didn’t answer that second question- what is your pet hate…..well I guess you did hint at it, something to do with mutant hating scum I’ll bet.”
~Instead his now silky socked foot caressed her calf down to her ankle. "~
Tris jumped probably a millimeter at this suprise, but knew Venus would notice even this small change- she glared at him for good measure.
Venus's smooth words soon gave way to grave and serious musings of issues of the current time- namely the attitudes in which mutants were held and if those could be changed. And what was interesting was seeing the theology behind the actions of a potentially violent man- or group of men as the case may be....and what was more interesting was that Tris found she did kinda agree with these ideas- she just wasn't quite so forceful in going out and trying to obtain them.
~" answer me this, do you even think peace is possible? and if yes compare that thin hope to the question of is war possible. In an instance it is conceivable as it thrives every where."~
"I think peace is possible, just not very probable." Tris answered with a not so funny smirk, before going on more seriously; "But war is always possible and always likely....thats what makes people special ." she rolled her eyes at that, before looking at Venus again; "Sorry, I'm abit of a cynic- it gets depressing at times.
~He reached across the table and gather both of Tris' hands in his own. " I mean if the x-gene is to be carried forward mutants need to procreate and populate this world with more."~
Tris burst out laughing, her mirth blending in harmony with Venus's at his rather interesting conclusion. "It gives the phrase make love not war a slightly different slant, don't you think?" she shot back in reply before actually continuing on in a more serious tone; "Thought carrying this line of thinking forward, even without procreation, the x gene is becoming more and more common in the population as a whole- whether you be pacifist, fighter, or lover, the net end result is the same......those with the x gene will eventually become the majority- all ya have to do is wait. "
She would have said more but the waiter interrupted. And when Venu's placed their order she shot him a look, and gulped humorously; "Desert? How can I do desert after all that other stuff." she wailed.
Tris chose to remain silent on this debate for awhile- after all, maybe a debate on the merits of war shouldn't be the only conversation topic at their table, cause Tris knew if she kept on going on about it- she wouldn't shut up, stubborn girl that she was. Besides, if she was ever going to get her hands back, she better play nice....not that she minded overmuch for now as to whos care they were in.
~He then answered her protest with a chuckle. " You don't have to clean your plate, I was assured by Kaz that the leftovers were the next best thing to having it fresh. so, by all means save a bit of space, or be stuffed, an appetite is no thing to be ashamed of, Or you can always take the desert home with you."~
Tris was pleased; "Well Good Lord." she drawled, switching accents to that of the south. "A fancy restaurant like this doing leftover plates, never thought of that......I should have ordered more." she winked. "And have no fear of a slim appetite here....indeed, for desert I might actually eat you under the table." she said- struggling not to laugh at the many way that could be taken, a glint of gleaming wickedness the only tell showing she knew. "I have abit of a sweet tooth at times." she said, laughing.
~He sipped his wine and urged her to speak her previously unfinished thought, it was obvious that they weren't quite on the same ground, but it would be interesting to find out if she preferred debate to arguing or even simply giving in.~
Venus sipped his wine, making no attempt to fill in the silence, leaving it to her to fill in the gaps.....And she knew she shouldn't, keeping conversation light was a good date rule after all.....but Tris still had alot more to say on the mutant/ human issue....So, she picked up the topic again, after the waiter had gone- going on with;
"Anyway I dont really think the whole war on stupid humans who will never accept change is so cut and dry. I mean, violence and mayhem are always good fall backs, but we are talented, we have special gifts, mutants can think outside the box and make things happen. Hypothetically speaking of course, cause we are fine, upstanding members of the community who would not think bad thoughts..." she winked again, showing what she thought of that idea, "...we, meaning mutant like, could like- swap major government leaders out with a shape shifters, we could- round up a bunch of telepaths and empaths and get them to change a riot mobs moral views, we could get some of those technologically inclined and hack the internet, take over media coverage, have global pro mutant sentiment.....all without a drop of blood spilled on either side."
She stopped, biting her lip slightly, peered at Venus to see his thoughts on her little not so legal statement was.
~“Well, I’m sure you will be happy to find, that I am made purely of sugar. Feel free to test that, you don’t have to take my word for and I would be more than happy to prove it, as you well know.” He found his proverbially footing.~
A brilliant white, flashing smile showed briefly at that reply; "I might have taken you up on that offer- but with all this food coming our way.....it might have to wait." she teased.
She was glad Venus gave her the full opportunity to voice her opinions and strategies, even if he wasn't totally comfortable with it, and indeed her voice flowed on, glad of the chance to get it all out. Tris was normally pretty cool in these sorts of situations, but Venus was such a damn good listener, with him and the wine- she might have to be more careful with what she said.
~She then finished her thoughts on War and human’s and Venus looked thoughtful and nodded. “ I suppose I tend to think of what advantages I have and what path that takes me down, but when looked at through a fresh and flexible angle I see the value of what you say, after all the majority of them are sheep and would follow along where ever the world takes them, I believe you have opened my eyes to other options, and greatly reduced my thoughts on how much blood will need to be spilt.” He pursed his lips for a moment, I believe the means you speak of are attainable and more so it would flush out any and whatever true dangers there are for opposition to a peaceful world. I think you have left me something wise to debate with my brothers.”~
Tris laughed at that; "I'd very much like to be in the peanut gallery for that fight." she said appreciatively, flattered and intrigued Venus was so easily able to accept her opinion and views....there was defiantly more to this supposed clone than met the eye, as Tris was just beginning to discover and just beginning to like.
She sighed softly; "Sorry," she said again when she realized how long she'd been going on about it. "I just about random stuff like this, and I got so many idea they just all go Blah when someone even half way listens.......got so many more, which was be great to discuss some time, but for now I'll stop hogging the conversation- how bout you pick a topic." she said generously.
~“it might pay to have somebody that I could already depend on, on my side, Though you might be wishing to get mixed up in more than you know. Sometimes it seems as if I am the only one with any sense.” Little did he know that secretly each of the clones and Abyss thought that of them self.~
Tris took a sip of her water as she listened, placing the glass down, she winked at him. "Dont worry, I got your back." she assured. ....but was she being serious? Hard to tell...
But truth be told as she stared at him, she did practically melt at the 'dont ever apologize, I enjoy your opinions' speech- did Venus have like a cheat book or something?....not that she'd ever let him know of course.
But with the next bit she was back to laughing again.
~ I suppose that leaves the present, are there any other guys I should keep an eye out for? ~
"Maybe." she replied with a mischievous twinkle in her eyes though there wasn't anyone; "Would that bother you" she asked innocently.
~ It is trivial; I mean you are out with me and not them after all, so I must be doing something right. Ah ha!” Venus looked serious and deeply into Tris’ eyes. “If you were a pop tart what flavor would you be?”~
She waited for the next question, from the serious look on Venus's face, sure to be big and deep and full of interesting stuff......and it came, in the form of pop tarts....? "hmmmm, thats abit of a weird one for me......pop tarts never really took off in Australia, so I never really got into them.....but (she grinned) I'd say something that fruity and sweet and tangy and fun tastes rolled into one......ha, and so humble too. And you sir- whats the pop tart flavour that really says you?
Tris shared a glance with Venus as the only other couple in sight got up and left; "Alone at last." she said smiling, voicing the unspoken thought, before that smile was turned into a teasing smirk and a raised eyebrow; "Whatever will you do with me?"
