The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Katrina grinned at Kitra’s reaction. In the dark under the blanket she couldn’t see Kitra looking all around the library, but she could hear her confusion.
Vision and sound illusions at the same time. It was trickier than just doing one or the other, but Katrina had been practicing every day since she moved into Mondragon Labs and multitasking was getting easier. Sitting comfortably on Calley’s lap was also easier than playing oboe and creating illusions at the same time.
Katrina imagined what her voice would sound like if she were standing behind Kitra, next to the shelf of mystery books. She tried to remember what her own voice sounded like on recordings, since her voice sounded different to her when she spoke than it did to others.
“Dumbledore left me an invisibility cloak for Christmas, so we thought we should test it out” came her voice from the mystery section. She wrinkled her nose. In Katrina’s opinion it didn’t sound exactly like her voice, but she was used to hearing her voice differently than others were used to.
She would have added Calley’s voice saying something, but it seemed rude to put words in his mouth, or rather put words in his voice on the other side of the room. Instead she whispered as quietly as she could to Calley, “What do you want to say? A message from Calley and a message from Slate.”
Kitra whipped around as Kat's voice, slightly echo like, came from the mystery section behind her. "Kat how did you get behind me?" She smiled, " An invisibilty cloak? That's cool." She slowly moved towards the section hoping to spot Kat or Calley. No such luck of course. "Kat, what exactly are your abilities? They are most impressive."
Calley silently snerked as he heard Katrina’s voice coming from across the library, and Kitra following it like a good little duck.
“What do you want to say? A message from Calley and a message from Slate.”
“She doesn’t know about Slate, so only one from me: ‘We’re not behind you.’” He hesitated a moment, and then whispered one more thing to the young girl. “And you might not want to answer about your abilities. You don’t have to. Your powers are going to be strong—not everyone’s going to like that. Some people might try to hurt you, or use you, or make sure you’re on their side, or take you out of the competition. Kitra’s probably okay, but... Just saying.” That was officially ‘just saying’ too much, probably.
“We’re not behind you,” Katrina relayed Calley’s message in Calley’s voice from off to Kitra’s right side. That one sounded more realistic to Katrina’s ear than her own disembodied voice had been. It was a true statement.
Calley’s whispered words that followed his message to Kitra made Katrina think of things she had never thought of before. For a few moments she was quiet as new thoughts swirled through her head.
Katrina had never considered that telling people about your powers could be a bad thing. Afterall, the first person she had told about her powers aside from her mom was Calley and he had told his powers too. She tended to trust everyone, and didn’t think that anyone she had made friends with would want to hurt her or take her out of the competition. Those were things that middle school students didn’t have to think about very often. Using people was common though. People would pretend to be friends with people who had connections to things they wanted, like girls who became friends with someone because they were the cousin of the boy she liked. Sometimes people would make friends just because someone had a trampoline or a pool or a horse or something else their own parents wouldn’t buy for them.
Maybe it was good advice that Calley was giving her, maybe it was best if only the people she trusted the most knew what her she could do. That left the question of how to decide who she trusted. How well do you have to know a person before you trust them? How did everyone at that meeting so long ago decide that it was safe to share with all those strangers what their powers were? Maybe they knew it was for a good cause. Or maybe they concealed parts of their powers because they didn’t want to be seen as too powerful. Was being powerful bad? Calley seemed to think it was bad if people knew how powerful you were.
How had Calley decided to trust her that first day with the information that he could heal and shift into a tiger? Maybe he hadn’t thought it was powerful enough that someone would want to use it against him. Or maybe he trusted that a twelve year old couldn’t do anything to hurt him or use him. But even twelve year olds grow up someday. At least they did if someone didn’t ‘take them out of the competition’ before they got a chance to grow up.
Maybe it was best just not to tell anyone any thing, or at least not tell them much. She could tell Kitra only about the invisibility part. That seemed pretty safe, and she was going to have to use the invisibility in front of everyone for the training that was coming up.
Katrina made her voice come from Kitra’s left this time, it would sound as though they had been really quiet for those few moments in order to sneak to Kitra’s other side. “I can turn myself invisible. And apparently other people too.” It was a true statement. That didn’t make her feel any better about saying it though. Leaving Kitra in the dark made the game less fun. It was time to be done.
“And now we’re back where we started,” Katrina said with her own voice. Another true statement. She threw off the blanket and lowered the illusion of invisibility as she spoke.
Kitra whipped around, a bit too fast actually. She ended up falling on her behind. She laughed, "Wow, I think I''m a bit dizzy. That's really cool Katrina." She smiled but it turned into a frown when she say that Kat looked rather unhappy at something. "Kat, is something wrong? Maybe I could do something to help?" Kitra got up and walked over to the chair, "Are you not feeling well?" She was worried, she never liked seeing anyone unhappy. Especially someone that was like a little sister to her. She would do anything to help. The only question was, would Kat allow her too?

Calley
Calley noted quite happily that Katrina took his little bit of advice to heart. Why that ended a perfectly fun game, he didn't quite know.
"Are you not feeling well?" Kitra asked, after she'd gotten back off her butt. Heh. She might be on to something, there—Calley craned his neck around to look at Kat over her right shoulder. She did look a little off.
“Are you hungry?” He guessed. It would be odd for her to get sick this quickly, but hungry... you could always get hungry. Speaking of hungry...
There wasn't anything wrong with her, aside from the fact that she had lied to, or perhaps just misled Kitra. She hadn't over stretched her powers, since she had only used them for a short period of time. She had combined two senses, which was always a little tricky, but she wasn't about to faint either. Food did sound like a good excuse to leave the discussion of powers behind though.
"Sure, food sounds good. Eating is good for getting more energy." She could also talk to the nice lady who worked in the canteen about starting to stock some protein shakes or something for Calley.
Kitra smiled and held her hand out to Kat, "Let's go to the canteen then." She winked, "We've gotta get Calley feed and a bit fatter too." She hoped Kat would get a small giggle out of that. *OOC: Sorry its short couldnt think of much, but now you can move the thread on a bit*
