Avi/Sig Sizes & Coding

Max for Avatars: 150 pixels wide x 150 tall
Max for Cover Images: 220 pixels wide x 350 pixels tall

Max for Signatures: 520 pixels wide x 190 tall OR 965 pixels wide by 135 pixels tall
For doubles Signatures: (horizontal) 520 pixels wide x 95 pixels tall, (vertical) 248 wide x 190 tall

No animated/moving images or risque images, please. Your avatar/signature should be directly related to your character. You may use any type of play-by you want: celebrity, anime, game, your own artwork, etc. Having trouble picking a play-by? This handy site might help!

If you need help making an avatar/signature, feel free to ask on the Avatars and Signatures board. While linking to your profile via the spot in your miniprofile is mandatory, linking to your profile via a signature is not mandatory, but you can do it like this:



Linking with an Image
Do you have an image in your signature? Use this code:

Text Links
Don't have an image in your signature, or you just like the look of text links better? No problem. Use this code:
[url=YourCharacterProfileUrl] Your Character's Name[/url]


Have you noticed other people's images changing every time you reload the page? Do you have more than one avatar or signature, and just can't choose between them? Feel free to use an image randomizer, such as Marcus' Rotating Signature Generator or SignAvatar. [Note: MRO doesn't vouch for either of those, but they're the two most commonly used by our members, and they don't seem to have given anyone's computer internet cooties thus far.]

Coding to Avoid in Posts

IC
In posts, please avoid using blockquotes, font size or style changing codes, centered/right aligned text, post templates/post tables, images (you may use a text link to reference an image, but don't put the image itself in your post), etc. Pretty much: try to avoid putting in extra coding. Italics to indicate thoughts/telepathy or color tags to highlight your character's dialogue are okay (as long as you pick a color readable on all skins), but don't venture beyond that. MRO is focused on writing, not how that writing looks.

OOC
On the OOC boards, anything goes with coding. If you use an image in an OOC post, make sure it doesn't stretch the page (aka, 520 pixels or less in width, and not ridiculously tall). If your image is huge, it's likely a Mod will ask you to resize it.
