The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Charles was impressed with the boy, who was now beginning to break free of the cage. Having helped him make the first move he could now leave Ted to free himself while he held off the beast. With Ted coming out of the cage and a perceived psychic attack still present his mind would now seek to return Ted to the cage before fighting him.
Turning to the beast, who had made a hole in his shield and was beginning to widen it, he set about defending Ted’s conscious mind while his instincts tried to cage him. Dropping his parries he created his own psychic cage around the beast. Now that Ted was making progress on his own Charles could focus solely on containing the beast. With only one thing to do he held the beast in check. Ted could now break free unmolested.
Ted noticed that the Professor had left the cage, and a quick glance cofirmed that he was back to taking care of the beast. Fair enough. He could break the cage on his own now. He continued pushing at the bars, until he managed to get his head through. Good, not much more now... With one last effort, he pushed himself through, and fell flat on the ground. Getting up, he saw the beast still trying to fight the Professor. Not good.
Then something smashed ted against the cage. Ted looked up to see another beast holding him, and trying to force him back through the bars. Ted tried again to send this beast flying, and with a wave he suceeded. The beast catapaulted through the air, and landed heavily on its back a good few metres away. Cool. Ted looked to the Professor. "What now?"
Charles saw the second beast and contained it as well with another psychic barrier. Now that Ted was out of the cage they could start making progress. “Listen to me very carefully Ted,” he said calmly, “These beast will continue to attack until I leave your mind, so you won’t be able to take control until I leave. So I am about to leave your mind, when I do you must focus on staying out of the cage and in command of the beasts. They will want to put you back in the cage, but you must not let that happen. Ready Ted? I’m leaving, now.”
And with that the professor withdrew from the boys mind. Opening his eyes he looked down at the beast restrained to the table. While earlier it had been struggling it was now still. Charles waited the outcome of Ted’s battle with his instincts.

Ted nodded as the Professor explained what he was about to do. "Ok, sure. I can do that." Probably... Oh, well. Nothing for it. The professor then disappeared, just vanished. What, no puff of smoke? Then Ted realised that the barriers holding the beast had vanished as well. Great. They charged at him, and Ted flung out his arms. He sent one of them flying, but the other slammed him against the cage, trying to force him back in. Ted heaved the beast up and over, landing it on top of the cage. Then the other one ran at him, and held swung his arms downwards. As if gravity had been turned up, the beast was pinned to the ground. He grinned, then the other dropped off of the top of the cage. Oh, come on! Ted heaved the creature off of him, and kicked it in the stomach. It grunted in pain and rolled away. Think, Teddy, think. These things couldn't be invincible. what he needed was something like, a knife. As if on cue, a knife appeared in his hand. Cool.
Then the beast that be been stuck to the floor leapt on him. It had been released when Ted stopped paying attention to it, but he now held the knife up as it leapt. It landed on the knife, and dissolved into smoke, which quickly cleared. "That's what I'm talking about." Ted saw the other beast get up, and flung the knife at it. It doged, so Ted imagined a bigger knife. What appeared was almost a sword. Grinning, he held it up as the beast circled him. It was probably afraid of the pointy thing, after seeing a much smaller one dispatch its friend. Not wanting to see if it had another reason for not attacking, Ted charged. He swung the sword up as he ran, but the beast dodged it and grabbed his ankle. It flung him a good distance, causing him to land in a rather undignified fashion. Time for a switch of tactics.
Ted tossed the sword away, and it disappeared. He focussed on creating a gun, and a pistol appeared in his hand. The beast charged again, and Ted held it up, and fired. It hit the beast in the chest, causing it to melt away much like the other. Then everything blacked out.
Ted opened his eyes, and was almost blinded by the light. He saw some bald guy looking down at him. Wait, that wasn't just some guy... that was the Professor! "Umm, I think I won." That was what he meant to say. What came out sounded a lot meaner, a lot more threatening, and made much less sense. Confused, Ted tried to sit up, but found he couldn't. What the hell???
Charles smiled at Ted as he spoke. While he’s words weren’t clear, the meaning was. Ted had gained control of his mind. “Well done Ted, you have control, even while transformed. From now on when you transform your mind will try to cage you, but you will be able to fight it and regain control. However, if you are subjugated to psychic attack you will be drawn back into the cage until the attack is gone. Even then you will have to fight your way back out.”
He paused, giving Tec time to think upon what he had just said. “But despite all that you are in control. I’m going to release the restraints now to let you get a feel for this new body.” He began to undo the restraints. Even if Ted lost control he was in little danger. If he had to he could force his way past Ted’s defences and render him unconscious. He hoped he wouldn’t have to.
Ted nodded as the professor explained what was going on, and possible problems, but otherwise, awesome! He was in control! The Professor was kind enough to release the restraints, and Ted sat up. He set a foot down of the floor, but they met rather faster than expected. Of course, longer legs. He stood, and could feel his tail swishing behind him. Cool.
He stretched out his arms, and he found that his head brushed the ceiling. Being bigger was certainly cool. He could feel a kind of shooting pain, but couldn't quite decide where. Of course, the Professor must have simulated pain to make him transform. Ted wondered what would happen when it went, whether he would change back or stay a beast. Ted tried to ask the Professor to let him have a go in the danger room so that he could test the body, but all that he could manage was "Da-grr Oom" and then a kind of hiss that was supposed to be a please. He hoped that the Professor would understand.
While Ted’s words weren’t exactly coherent, his thoughts where, so Charles knew what he was looking to do. His work was done, the rest was up to Ted now. “All in due time Ted,” he said with a kind smile, “But there are things I need to explain to you now. You will need to work on gaining control faster. As you only change when in pain you will be vulnerable while you fight for control. It will not come easily but with practise you will improve.”
“Unless you have any further questions I will take my leave. My aim was to allow you control yourself while transformed, I have achieved that. You must now work on your own to develop what I have started.” He gave Ted a warm smile and waited patiently for any questions the boy might have.

Ted nodded his understanding. He attempted the phrase "Alright, I'll just keep on practising." He achieved a syquence of grunts and snarls. It then occured to Ted that the Professor was a telepath, maye he could understand thought-messages. Professor, can you hear this?
