The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

They kissed, and Gawain smiled too. His life had had its ups and downs, but rarely ever had he been as happy in a moment as he was with Becca. Temamate, best friend and girlfriend, it was a great combination.
>>”Move in wi’ me?... Ah mean, nae pressure, but Ah’d loove tae wake up next tae ye each mornin.”
Gawain blinked at the sudden question. Becca probably noticed his surrise, because she quickly added a caveat, and looked a little sheepish about it. The mirrorwalked chuckled and hugged his girlfried, leaning back so they could snuggle on the couch.
"To be fair you do that most mornings" he pointed out with a grin. He had been sleeping over quite a lot lately, or she came over on some nights. They didn't exactly live together, but it was close. "I mean, it sounds like a great idea..." he paused, thinking about it "it's just... the Mansion is kind of my home. I want to live with you, but I also am not sue how to live somewhere that's not the Mansion..."

Rebecca put herself out there without much thought because it felt like the right thing to do. She already got her three magic words of the night, so the pressure was off. If Gawain was not ready to move in together, she could handle that. They had time. They loved each other, and they would figure things out in time.
Gawain was full of fair points, and Becca grabbed a truffle to munch on and consider those points. It was hard not to see them being ready for this step when they spent most nights together already. They were ready to share each other’s space and find out if things were as easy when they shared a washroom and a fridge.
Maybe it was presumptuous for Rebecca to assume Gawain would want to move in with her without thinking of the other way around. She spent a few years living at the Mansion when she was younger, but now that she taught there, it never occurred to her to move back. She returned to the states as a twenty-something that was still figuring her adult life together. The kids at the Mansion needed people there for them, but they did not need her because they had people around to help.
Except Gawain was one of those people, and it was clearly important to him. Kids looked up to Mirror; Rebecca saw it. In particular, Gawain was the one who helped Kalos feel at home so far from Atlantis. He made lost kids feel welcome because that was just who Mirror was.
He was going to make such a good parent.
”Well… Ah dae like this place. It’s nice and Ezra is a wonderful landlord. It’s a nice place Ah coulds gae tae loove,” she admitted. ”Still… Ah like th’ house. Ah loove ye. Th’ Mansion is yer home, sae Ah want to share that wi’ ye.”
Gawain had to admit he had never really thought about moving out of the Mansion. It had been his home for ten years, and his entire adult life. And now that he as a responsible adult (how did that happen?), he took on many of the duties of running things at the Mansion, taking care of the kids, running training sessions, and being a team leader for the X-men. The Mansion was both home and work, and the idea of living somewhere else and commuting sounded very strange at first try.

Gawain blinked, and was quiet for a while.
"You would move back to the Mansion with me?" he sounded surprised, and he was.

In going with the flow, Rebecca caught Gawain off guard. She realized what she wanted, and that made it easier to prioritized what she could do and what she would not do. ”Ah think th’ magic of midnight chocolate is makin’ serious life choices easier tonight,” she joked.
It really was a big choice, though, and she had to respect that. If she made the commitment without being truly ready for it, that could get their cohabitation off to the wrong foot. ”Ah dunno. It’s a big step. Ah’d talk tae Ezra abit my lease.” She doubted her kind-hearted landlord would give her grief, particularly due to her reasoning. She imagined the quiet mutant to be the romantic type, so moving for love might not be a hard sell.
”We’re ready for a big step. It’s either me ur ye; we cannae live baith places, ur nothin’s changing. Ah coulds try seducin’ and charmin’ ye intae movin’ here.” She grinned mischievously, feeling confident that she could at least make Gawain question his resolve. ”But it’s hard tae imagine th’ Mansion withit ye. Instead ay bein’ selfish and keepin’ ye tae myself, Ah’m happy tae join ye as a Mansion den mother.”
Rebecca reached for a chocolate covered strawberry and considered it. ”Though Ah think ye still need tae move.” She offered to feed her boyfriend the strawberry, smiling. ”Th’ tois ay us t’gether shoulds earn ain ay th’ big livin’ spaces. Ah loove th’ students, but we adults need our own spaces fer… adultin.”

It was a big step, either way. That genie was not going back in the bottle. Gawain was not entirely against the idea of moving out of the Mansion, eventually, but he was also not entirely sure he could leave it in good conscience without constantly worrying about the kids. In a way, they already had a family to care for.

"Sounds like that solves the kids question too" Gawain grinned. It was a cheap shot, but he was really touched by Becca's understanding, and her willingness to compromise. He also happily accepted the strawberry.

"What, you mean we can't adult in the office anymore?" the mirrorwalker chuckled, licking some of the chocolate off her fingers "You are right, though. We can move the rooms around if you want. And I'm not saying I'd never move out of the Mansion... I just... kinda want to make sure they are okay, first. And that the team is okay."

Becca liked where she was living, but she loved Gawain and wanted to really spend her life with this wonderful person she managed to find for herself. Their lives together would have different steps and stages, and who knew where it would take them? They were X-Men; unpredictability was part of the package. Still, it felt like their next step would be back to the Mansion. The thought made her smile; so many pairs in love spent their time living at the Mansion, being defacto parental figures for students in need. It was their turn now.
"Ah'm sure th' Mansion can accommodate th' tois of us. We dinnae need tae focus on th' future and where we'll gae and how many kids we might have." Rebecca rested her head on Gawain's shoulder, a content smile on her face. "Jus knowing there is a future wi' ye fer me is enough. And we can adult wherever ye like, bit we better nae gie caught. Ah'm nae gettin' busted fer Mansion sex again," she teased.
Gawain and Becca and the Mansion and a future full of possibilities. What more could she want?
