The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

To say Natalie did not take Nate’s comment well was the understatement to end all understatements. She was upset with Nate for not giving her fair warning, which was valid. He should have thought to say something, and she was obviously in no mood for the excuse that he was not expecting to have them over the apartment yet.
Parker’s presence was not noticed right away, but when it was, Natalie jumped back like she was getting away from a landmine. She cleared most of the length of the room, getting as much space as she could between herself and the gargantuan spider.
Being fearful of Parker did nothing to soften the venom in Natalie’s voice as she went off on Nate, chastising him for taking her role as Norah’s mother for granted. She had been the strict parent when she had to be, and she was upset with him for contradicting her and making her out to be the bad guy. If Natalie had kept Norah from having a pet, then he was breaking that rule with gusto by bringing Parker into their lives. He wondered why Norah could not have a pet in the first place, but was smart enough to realize that was a question for another day.
Nate wanted to lessen the tension and clear up what he meant, because Natalie took the worst from his words. He did not want to have standing bad blood between the two of them. He took a few steps toward Natalie; he wanted to speak quietly, and with her across the room, that was a challenge.
Almost on cue, Norah poked her head out of the room she was in, asking if she could rejoin her parents. She gave Parker a friendly wave and the spider perked up and took a step forward. Nate quickly held up a hand and commanded, ”Parker, stay!” The spider seemed dejected, but complied.
Nate turned back to his daughter and his tone softened. ”Almost, sweetheart. Your mom and I are just talking about something important, but I promise we’re almost done.”
”Okaaay,” she replied, just as disappointed as Parker as she closed the door behind her.
With his daughter in a side-room and his pet holding his position near the wall furthest from Natalie, Nate could approach the mother of his child. ”Listen, Nat, I didn’t mean anything by that. You’re a great mom to Norah. Anyone could see that.” His tone was sincere; he wanted to make things better, which meant cutting an argument off before it could sprout into a fight.
”I’ll keep Parker away from Norah. He has a room to stay in if she’s around. I’m not looking to step on your toes,” he promised. ”I want to co-parent, and I want this to be a partnership. I get he’s… unique, but Parker really is harmless. Still, I should have thought to warn you. I’ll be the one to tell Norah that Parker is not to be played with.” Just because he wanted to get things off on the right foot with Norah did not mean Natalie should be saddled with all the authoritarian responsibilities. Even if he disagreed with her decision, he was going to respect her choice as Norah’s well-intentioned, if overly-protective mother.
Nate offered his hand and shrugged his shoulders. ”Maybe I can send Parker to his room and we can end this night on a better note?”
In the very least, the spider was compliant. Like a dog, it stayed when told, ignoring the beaconing call of Norah. That was the singular point in his favour. Unfortunately, it was still stacked against a million bad ones. There was no way that he could win out against that.
Natalie breathed in deeply and looked at Norah, gearing up to tell her to go back into the room and wait a while longer. However, Nate took on the job for her. Their daughter sighed, but listened. She looked disappointed, but she did in fact listen. Despite her anger, Natalie was glad that she didn't have to be the bad guy once again.
She was a good mom. Even in her own head, she wasn't going to deny that fact. She'd put in the time and work, and she planned to reap the benefits, not let Nate swoop in and take all the credit. No matter how charming he thought he was.
Still, Nate was being selfless, helpful, and giving. Despite the fact that he'd caused the situation (all the situations, really), he was doing a good job of diffusing it, and Natalie was finding that she was having a tough time staying angry with him or the disgusting spider.
Maybe, just maybe, if it would listen to instruction, it wouldn't be all that bad.
Natalie lowered her brow and stared at Nate for a good minute. "Norah, you can come out now. If 'Parker' feels up to playing, then you can play with him." Dammit, she wasn't going to stop her daughter from having fun and feeling comfortable in a place that would need to start feeling like a second home.
Norah burst out excitedly, clearly waiting for her mother to give her some kind of cue at any moment. She raced toward Parker and wrapped her arms around him. Natalie had to look away.
"Just don't make me look at it," she warned Nate. "Now, do you have coffee?"
