The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

She shook her head slightly, but she was tense. "My scouts haven't spotted any signs of him yet. So far it just looks as though he's sending in his bugs."
She felt like swallowing her words a few minutes later when a surge of roaches poured into the building. She flinched again, and cursed under her breath.
"... He's got... some kinda move up his sleeve." She switched rapidly between view points, and honestly was starting to regret it. A small headache had started to form behind her eyes and it was steadily growing worse.
She wasn't sure what Roach was up too. Perhaps he was calling to try and smooth things over? Maybe he was calling to try and threaten the gang back into line? She could only hear half of the phone conversation, and even that was fractured between bouts of cursing and yelling.
"Things are escalating. He called in." She echoed whatever information she could get back to Saph, before ultimately pulling back to herself. She'd tried to spend too much time away... her head was pounding, and she'd started to get double vision.
"Don't know exactly what he was attempting to do in there, but Howard wasn't having any of it. Screamed at him for a solid minute before hanging up. I'm thinking we pulled this off."
Rubbing her eyes, she hunched over in her seat as she waited for her vision to clear.
"We need to decide what we are going to do with the woman before we leave. If that spider falls outside my radius she will go rabid and probably bite her."
The spiders viewing the room would suddenly become incredibly preoccupied. One was suddenly grabbed from behind, and then several roaches fell upon it. Another managed to wrestle free of it's ambusher, but it was upside down on the ceiling, so jumping wasn't a great option.
Saphirus shrugged when she stated the spider might kill the woman if they got too far off. "Uh... I dunno. Can you make it kill itself, or something? I mean, If she drops dead right there, they'll be a little thrown off, right?" Also, he would probably feel pretty bad about it. She was doing something for them, and carrying out her side of the bargain pretty well.
Hundreds of bugs started pouring from the walls. The crying woman noticed first, and shrieked. Hundreds became thousands. They poured into the room from all sides, and soon began flying. The spiders that remained in the room were dead in moments. The people in the center freaked out. Gunshots rang out. Howard was firing what looked like laser beams from his palms into the crowd. It thinned momentarily, but filled out again. Two security guards escorted the wife from the room, and Howard soon followed.
Two guards took the brunt of the swarm; hundreds of bugs crawled into their mouths and noses. it wasn't long before they collapsed, roaches crawling from their gasping mouths.
Roach was sending a message. They could think what they wanted. He wasn't happy, and someone would suffer for it.
Megan squinted at her partner for a moment, before sighing and reaching out to connect with her spiders again. As it turned out, in the brief amount of time she had been away things had escalated quickly. Both of the free jumpers she had stationed in the room were gone. She couldn't reach them. That left the spider within the woman's ear.
Though muffled, she could hear screaming, gunshots, plenty of cursing.... and finally glass shattering. One quick question to the spider gave her a small answer, and she made the decision to have it crawl from the woman's ear before the mercenary could focus on it again.
Thankfully, since she was lost in the sensation of a short free fall, the spiders quick exit wasn't noticed.
"... She's spider free." Blinking as she pulled back into herself, Megan let her eyes start to readjust and chuckled. "As chaotic as it turned out, I think we did it. Roach is pissed, Howard is pissed. We've started a war."
Tucking her arms behind her head, she mused about all of the various options that had left. Roach still had quite a few connections... some of which might take care of themselves with Howard and his big mouth spreading the word about their current beef. Some would have to be taken care of the old fashion way.
She was a little more confident now in her current mission than she had been before. "...We really do need to leave now. He's flooding that place with bugs. If he figures out i'm in this direction you can bet we're going to be on pest control duty."
