The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Three days into her week being spent in New York and things had been going rather decently. Corrine had been taking time to roam most of Time Square before moving to try the shopping districts of New York to maybe see if anything would catch her eye. Some trinkets here and there had plus some paintings, but nothing she immediately would buy. No, she figured it would be best to see how much room she would have in her suitcase and go from there since she didn't want to overload the bag too much that it couldn't be put in among the baggage on the plane. Flying was just expensive as is, so she didn't need the extra pounds in the suitcase.
But, it was one of those times she happened to be roaming around that she had heard angry voices nearby, drawing her towards a nearby dark alleyway. Coming around the corner she could see a handful of men beating on what appeared to be a defenseless youth. In the darkness though she could barely make out the attackers' features, some seemed old and others young as well, people who had seen better days. And it was this sort of thing that caused her blood to boil, and something she had always set out to stop back in Atlanta. "Awfully cowardly of you to pick on a defenseless teenager, especially when he's outnumbered six to one." Corrine said coldly, mentally commanding the ionized gas coming from her body to shift and form into a "hard shell", creating her exoskeleton since she expected a physical confrontation.
"Why don't you beat it mutant freak!"One of them yelled back, their attention drawn to her now but at first looking disinterested. "Yea, or you're next!" One of the others piped up, obviously eager for more violence. "How about getting your cowardly butts over here and show me a real challenge." Corrine retorted, unimpressed by their threat as she took on her more defensive stance. But her eyes widened as their own answer was to draw guns instead, having no intention of leaving their victim a chance to escape entirely.
The poor soul that had been their focus had by now scrambled as far back as they could, getting a moment of reprieve from the abuse. But Corrine wasn't exactly as fortunate as she ducked behind the nearest dumpster, hearing the bullets graze her exoskeleton and one grazing her upper arm. It wasn't deep thanks to the highly condensed shell slowing it enough but not enough that she still felt blood trickling down her arm. As she took cover though she could hear the bullets ricocheting off the brick building walls, some breaking through the weak metal of the dumpster, and some flying past. Her only instinct though was to duck since she didn't know how many bullets they had altogether or if they would take the chance to gang up on her next.
The exoskeleton would only do so much and she wasn't exactly enthused to try one of her discharges in such a confined space leaving her with somewhat limited options in such a situation.
Hades was not just an assassin. He was very very good at it, make no mistake, but that was not all that he was. People tended to underestimate him. In his 3 millennia of existence, he and run the gambit of being in various militaries, in various roles, from foot soldier to specialized sniper to spymaster to general...The list went on. It was the role of a spymaster that he was resuming for Jager Worldwide/Ragnarok.
That meant not just making tactical decisions and managing assets but sometimes also meant going out in the field. It meant preventing chaos at times and "encouraging" it at others. Lately it meant recruiting and activating assets, building up a web of contacts. IT was one of his contacts in Atlanta who notified him of a potential person of interest. A mutant CSI who was moving to NYC. Hades had filed it away in the back of his mind but had not had the chance to act on it. He was walking back from a meet when he heard gun shots. Pistols, judging by the sound, a few 9mms and one or two .45s. Hades got to a vantage point, it did not look good for the woman? getting shot at.
The woman had taken cover behind a dumpster and with her was a cowering youth. It was obvious what had happened. Woman steps in to stop youth getting assaulted/beaten and now both of them were in danger. Hades could have walked away. But the woman's mutation looked like some sort of exo-skeleton? and who knew she could turn out to be another asset.
He dropped to the ground behind the furthermost shooter. Rapidly wrapping one arm around his neck and controlling his gun hand with the other. Hades then rapidly disarmed him and rendered him unconscious with a single blow. Before the other men could react, Hades had rapidly shot one in the head, and one in the heart. Their numbers were now down to three and they would be spread out across two fronts. By this time the men realized that they were under fire and reacted. Would then concentrate on Hades leaving the woman and the youth free to go? Or would they spread out and try to take both?
Corrine was trying to make a decision in this moment, knowing the terrified youth was in no state to be left alone. He probably was a trouble maker and had gotten himself into this situation but a part of her felt compelled to ensure he was safe and get him out of there before things got any worse. But her exoskeleton would only slow the bullets, minimizing the force but not keeping her entirely protected from them.
At this rate she could only wait for the bullets to die down, they would need time to reload or to approach which would give her a short few seconds...That was when she realized the shooting did stop, though the moment she realized it two others rang out before she thought she heard thuds of bodies dropping. Curious now, Corrine extended her exoskeleton around the shocked youth who didn't seem to really protest for a mutant helping them, but then again he probably was in too much pain and shock to complain anyway. Peeking over the dumpster Corrine could see they had been joined by someone else, someone who probably had been drawn to the sound of gun fire where most would have ignored it. Yet, it wasn't hard to tell this man wasn't your ordinary concerned citizen.
"You need to go kid," Corrine whispered, the youth at first seeming to be unresponsive and in her concern to get him out of there her own patience was a bit thin right now. And she could hear the other three men muttering among themselves, obviously trying to figure out their situation. "So who are you suppose to be? Another of those freak heroes running around?" One of the men finally inquired, though seemed to be uninterested in any real answer. "Doesn't matter! Whether he's a mutant himself or sympathizer, he's free game." His other companion stated, impatient as they spread out slightly as expected, advancing on Hades as they felt their numbers would be more than enough to handle the man. But after much encouragement Corrine finally was able to convince the youth to get moving finally, using the cover of her exoskeleton until he was around the corner and out of sight.
Turning back to the scene, she could see the men raising their guns once more preparing to shoot at the man who have saved her hide just now. She figured though she could return the favor as she threw her body against the dumpster, causing a small explosion from her exoskeleton with enough force to damage the bricks on the wall beside it but moving the dumpster enough one of the men yelped in surprise as he barely avoided being clipped. But it was enough to make the men move away in reflex and allowing an opening for Hades.
