The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Juliette waited for Atian's response as he seemed paralyzed by fear. She looked at him urgently, knowing that they would have little time to discuss anything. He stood with his mouth open, and then muttered something like "I don't know." She sighed and shook her head as she waited for him to compose himself.
The META bot clambered up the side of the fire escapes noisily, causing Juliette to get back into a fight stance.
“I could shoot you?! I mean if you absorb the arrow I can shoot you.” Arian finally replied. Juliette looked back at him and thought for a moment.
"If your shots are made of pure energy, then that's perfect," Juliette said distractedly. She searched her pockets for something, anything that could help them at that moment. After a second, she pulled out her cellphone and shone the light on her hand, which started to glow. It wouldn't give her much, but it was better than nothing.
Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed Atian raise his hands, ready to shoot. She braced herself to be hit, ready to absorb the energy. Before she could, though, they were interrupted by the META bot. “Hostile detected.” It said loudly.
She watched as Atian jammed the barrel of its weapon, admiring his power. The META bot stepped back, still trying to shoot of its weapon.
"What else can you do with that power?" Juliette asked him as the bot was distracted. She used the little bit of energy that she had absorbed through her phone to shoot another blast at the bot, knocking it farther back. She needed more, though. Something big to do anything more than little blasts. It would be incredibly helpful if she were able to get enough to fly, but also incredibly unlikely unless Atian was packing more than energy arrows.
“What else can you do with that power?” Juliette asked, as the Meta stepped back, reloading. He would have loved to answer, sit down and discuss their differences of their powers. Even ask her out for dinner. But first he had to save the day; so far he hasn’t been very impressive.
The shield dissipated as the machine began to reload. Atian focused on the formation of his bow, the energy crackling slightly as he poured more power into the arrow. Juliette’s blast had knock the META back allowing him enough time to get off one shot, he charged for three. The bow hummed loudly as a corona started form around Atian like a living eclipse. The details of the bow and its payload growing in intensity, Atian could feel his hands and arm start to shake, the bow growing harder to steady. The META had started to shake off, the effects of her blast, the seconds seeming like minutes as Atian finally manifested and released the built up energy.
Range, point blank. The arrow purpose was a high intensity flash on contact. His target… Juliette he hoped this worked, that the arrow didn’t pierce her chest. That she was able to absorb his energy better than he did hers. He exhaled mentally releasing his hold on the energy, the air howling as it cut through the air.
With anxious eye Juliette watched Atian load his bow. His energy was a bright white light, very different from her own. The bow hummed as his arms started to shake under the strain of his blast. His mutation was impressive, to say the least. After a few moments, he seemed to have built up enough energy to fire at her.
Juliette caught the arrow in one hand as it was fired at her. She closed her eyes as she absorbed the energy - more than a sufficient amount to do more than a few blasts. Her eyes flashed gold as she looked back at Atian with more relaxed expression. She stepped towards the the bot readily, her skin shifting quickly from a tanned caramel colour to a bright yellow-gold glow. Her features became distorted as her body became pure energy. She felt much more alive, more free than she had without it. It had been so long since she had absorbed so much that she had begun to forget what it was like to have it.
"Go from the left," she instructed Atian as she moved to the right. She shot another blast at the bot, this time much bigger and forceful than her previous ones. "Can you hit him with one of those arrows?"
Atian’s aura continued to glow, the energy he absorbed on full display. He took a few steps back as Juliette snatched his arrow, the ensuing flash of light easily absorbed by the small female. Atian was beyond impressed, stepping back from her and the robot. And from Juliette’s expression the plan had worked, better than expected. Juliette smiled as she started to glow brighter and brighter before her facial details were indistinguishable. Could he do that? He had always though his powers were exceptional, even feeling he was the master of light. But it was clear that was now questionable.
Juliette closed the distance on the robot. “Go to the left.” She ordered circling to her right before firing far greater blast of energy, slamming into the META’s torso with impressive force.“Can you hit him with one of those arrows?” She asked, instinctively Atian raised his bow, the energy already starting to gather at his fingers. His focus was to kill; rarely did he get to unleash his powers to a level such as this. He grinned slightly enjoying the feeling of no longer being the hunted. His fear had settled and now it was pay back. Arrow two screeched louder than the one before if, cutting through the META’s shoulder socket ripping away the weapon from before. Arrow three followed shortly after this one center mass ripping away s section of chest plate, exposing internal circuitry. His hands relaxed the bow fading, barely tangible. He needed to reload, Juliette could cover till then. “I need a second, can you manage?” Silly question shes been bad ass from the start.
He imagined a quiver, his hands following the motion of retrieving an arrow. A useless pain when firing energy arrows but the only way Shado was able to teach him with out losing the bow entirely. A skill he needed to work on.
"I need a second, can you manage?" Atian asked her as he worked on reloading. Juliette nodded quickly, thinking that surely she had shown him that she could manage by now. She hated being pigeon-holed into the category of "just a woman", but that was something she would have to deal with later. Right that moment, there was a bot in front of her with its main circuitry exposed.
Juliette stepped towards it somewhat cautiously, her survival instinct kicking in. She ignored her body's natural desire to run away from the bot and stuck her hands directly in its chest, tugging out the wires. The electricity had no affect on her as she was in her energy form, and she let it bounce around her as she absorbed the light energy from it.
The bot crumpled in front of her, nothing but a weak shell without its wiring. Juliette breathed a sigh of relief and stepped away from it. "Come on," she said urgently to Atian. "There are probably more on the way and the mob might start to follow us. Do you think you can make the jump between buildings?"
Below them, the mob had nearly filled the entire alleyway. Most people had watched the fight and those who hadn't weren't finding it difficult to catch on. There were many outcries of derogatory terms in their direction, most followed by death threats. The police had begun to push the crowd back and a few were making their way up the fire-escapes and to the roof from the inside of the building.
With his bow reloaded Atian took aim at the robot, ready to continue the fray. He stood and watched as Juliette placed her hand within the robot’s chest. He was unsure of what was exactly happening but the META was clearly disabled after she was through. He stood in awe once again at her abilities before Juliette’s voiced brought him to reality. “Come on. There are probably more on the way and the mob might start to follow us. Do you think you can make the jump between buildings?” she asked.
He turned and measured the distance; looking over the building’s edge before starting to take a few steps back. ‘Only one way to find out.’ He thought to himself as he stated to sprint forward. He charged at the roofs edge at full speed closing his eyes as he near the edge pushing off with all the energy he could muster and his right leg left the roof. Some of the mob below witnessed the leap gasping or screaming at the bold escape. As hard as he tried he could fight the urge to peek as he felt himself fall through the air, and after what felt like forever he opened his eyes just in time to see himself crashing onto his intended building’s gravel rooftop. He prepared to tuck and roll like they do in the action movies; instead his landed awkwardly on his side knocking the wind out of himself. He attempted to catch his breath as he rolled onto his belly peeling himself from the ground. His legs were shaky and unstable but he had managed to stand.
He flashed her thumbs up to signal he was okay; mean while below the police had lost containment on the crowd, their sheer numbers over powering what little officers had. They funneled their way into the alleyway, slowly making their way up the shaky fire escape. Others had split off following the fleeing mutant.
Juliette watched anxiously as Atian jumped. She closed her eyes as he started his descent, unable to force herself to watch a possible tragedy. After a moment, she pried her eyes open and breathed a sigh of relief as he flashed her a thumbs up.
She followed quickly after him, knowing she only had a few seconds before she was overrun by the mob. She jumped off the side of the building, using her abilities to make sure that she landed safely. She stood up, hardly winded, and looked at Atian.
She scanned her surroundings. There was a doorway that led into the building only a few feet away. Perhaps if she could pry the door open, they would be able to lose the crowd and hide inside. Of course, that risked the possibility of them being cornered. Atian was too recognizable, she realized. They would need some sort of distraction or cover to be able to get away. But where would they go when they got away? Would she lead him to safety and then get back to her regular life? Those were important questions for a different time. At that moment, they needed to get away.
Then, she had an idea.
"Go down those stairs," Juliette told him quickly. "I'll lead the mob away and we can rendezvous somewhere outside of the city, away from the crowds."
As she made her attempt Atian could see top of the fire escape shake with the weight or those trying to ascend it. He took aim at the roof top before him he pictured the already weakened bolts and the brick they were embedded in, hoping to shake and scare a few of their pursers. He had been a coward before, “allowing fear to take your heart, is worse than death…” Shado’s words played in his head, he had to be better.
Manifesting the light around him Atian put his hands together and focused. He pictured the bow in his left fist and the feel of the string and the notch in his fingertips. The energy started as a thin cross before he draws his right arm back allowing the beams of light to grow brighter and brighter before releasing it. As the hissed and cut through the air it separated into three smaller arrows each one striking the bolts and its foundation shaking the fire escape a little causing those on it to gasp. Then the metal cracked as it started to lean to one side before breaking from the rooftop entirely. The crowd and those on it screamed the metal structure fell onto the building behind it the impact throwing a few of the rioters off and into the crowd below. His eye widened of the sound on the destruction he caused, if they didn’t have a reason to hate him before they did now. He turned to his right, looking towards Juliette as she landed. A different look in his eyes then the one of fear and panic like before. Shado would have been embarrassed with his lack of courage. Atian was, he’d been trained better than that, been through worst than this.No now he had the look of the warrior he was trained to be, the look of a survivor. “What next?”
"Go down those stairs," Juliette told him quickly. "I'll lead the mob away and we can rendezvous somewhere outside of the city, away from the crowds."
He looked to his left at the roof access door, before turning back to Juliette. “No you go you’ll blend in better than me. Plus I’m actually guilty of something now of they catch me. There’s no point I’n you going to jail for nothing.” He gave her a calming smile. “I’ll give me you my number and I’ll call you so you know I’m okay?” He said jokingly, he was hoping to ease her nerves and this not be a huge debate.
“No you go you’ll blend in better than me. Plus I’m actually guilty of something now of they catch me. There’s no point in you going to jail for nothing. I’ll give me you my number and I’ll call you so you know I’m okay?” Atian said and smiled at her.
"No!" Juliette argued quickly. "There's no way I'm going to let you do that."
She turned back and blasted the door open, the bright light bouncing off the metal door and causing the crowd to go wild. "Being able to blend in is what is going to save me in the end. I'm trying to make a way for you to get away," she insisted as she fiddled with the latch.
The door was stuck. More than stuck. It seemed to be welded shut for some reason. Then, she realized that there were two doors. The other was almost twenty feet away. If that wasn't bad enough, the police had made their way up to the building that they were on. They surrounded them, carrying guns and shields.
Terrified, Juliette turned back to Atian. When she looked back at him, though, he was no longer there.
