The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

(( OOC: Hope nobody minds my moving things along a little, despite being out of turn... ))
> “I want information on the guards who work at the camps, > and names will due, addresses would be better.” > “Right. Right, of course. You would be here to shake me > down for information. No, I don’t think I can help you at all. > Sorry, but just... no.”
Despite the sheer absence of anything even remotely amusing about this situation, Sonya finds that exchange between them perversely funny. She looks up from Putto with a somewhat manic grin that would have only been slightly disturbing if she weren’t covered in blood and adds "What did you expect, Rupert? He was entranced by your bewitching hazel eyes? Sorry, you only get to seduce one mutant per season… check your license. More than that and we fine you."
To the new guy she adds "As for you: you don’t need him. I can hook you up with the Resistance, and get you the information you want – if you convince me you deserve it. Meanwhile, we need to – ."
> “To state the obvious yet again: you’ve got to get him out of here. And then > you’re going to have to knock me out. I think the only way I’m going to be > able to dodge questions on this one is if I’m just another victim.”
" – right, exactly." Actually, Sonya had been thinking of pulling Rupert out of here with the kid, but his plan makes more sense… especially since it gets him and the new guy separated. "Thing is, I didn’t come prepared for an armed extraction. Dumb, I know, but there it is. And I figure the lobby is filling with cops right about now, what with all the gunfire and stuff. So – what is your name, dude? – I’m really hoping you have some implausibly convenient mutant power… teleportation? Flight? Make us invisible? Hell, while we’re at it," she looks back down at the shocky kid, " – how about you, Michael? What’s your, um, “special gift?”… can you help us get you out of here without anyone else getting hurt?" ”Special gift”… geez. I sound like something out of “Romper Room for Mutants.”
> “I suppose helping you two get back safely would count as proving me > worthy. There are some twisted bastards at those camps that need ending. > After being in there for months I know who is sadistic and who is doing their job.”
Sonya sighs. “Fine, if that’s what it takes. Get us out of here safely and I’ll direct you to Resistance HQ. Once we’re there I’ll tell you what you want to know. But it’s going to have to be fast.”
(( OOC: Also a purely OOC post, which I will delete once we move on.
Putto, are you still around/active/posting?
If you're waiting for something to happen on this thread, please let us know what it is.
If you're too RL busy or whatever to post, please just drop a quick note to let us know whether you want us to wait for you or to move on (e.g., we can assume Putto has fainted from shock and blood loss).
> "Which direction from the hospital do we want to go?"
"West. No, wait..." she hesitates a second while Shrapnel bundles up the kid, converting from street directions to compass directions in her head, "more southwest. Not sure exactly, but I can guide you in as we get closer... call it directly southwest for now. Most important thing is to get out of here quickly."
> "From your list of implausibly convenient mutant powers my > genes picked flight. so once you are ready to let me throw > you over my shoulder we can get out of here."
"Excellent! You are officially Mike's guardian angel."
She gets the impression that Shrapnel is expecting some kind of evasion from her... and if she weren't covered in blood right now, she'd probably be providing it, since she'd be perfectly capable of sneaking past the police, or even leading their search in the wrong direction.
But given the situation as it is, she doesn't even hesitate. Michael seems bundled up reasonably well, and she's not too worried about the cold herself... she's long since established that her bodysuit is a pretty decent insulator, and she's pretty sure she can heal any frostbite or similar damage.
(( OOC: I'm happy to wrap this up here and pick up at Mondragon Labs, if that works for you. I figure we can hand off Putto to the Labs doctors, and he can "wake up" as soon as the player returns to active status, and Shrap and Sonya can continue their conversation there. I'll PM Kaz now to let him know. Take the final post if you want it.))
