The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

>>"I'm the only mirror you gotta listen to, and I'm telling you you look just fine."
Evelyn frowned slightly, but eventually accepted the compliment. The kiss helped. Then her brain clicked in warning onto the other comment.
"Wait, what do you mean it has to go? You make it sound like you're giving it a dress funeral! It's just sort of wrinkled..." Sort of might have been an understatement, but it still caused Evelyn to clutch the fabric to herself and scoot away suspiciously.
>>"Wait, what do you mean it has to go? You make it sound like you're giving it a dress funeral! It's just sort of wrinkled..."
Evelyn scooted away, and Maya blinked in confusion for a few minutes before she burst out laughing. It bubbled up like something that had been under pressure way too long, and ended with the mirrorwalker in a helpless heap on top of the bed, giggling like a teenage girl.
"Well, there... goes... the seduction..." she ginned up at Eve, still in fits of laughter and some tears in her eyes. She was adorable, all oblivious and clutching the dress "Eve, you gotta... train... the echoes to recognize... your grilfriend tryin' to get into..."
It was really too funny to bear. Or maybe just moderately funny, after a lot of pressure...

Mati
Evelyn's initially confusion tripled as Maya started laughing, and slowly the echoes came back from their rambling about dry cleaning options for her dress, keying in on the attempted 'seduction'. Well, now they talked. She rubbed the back of her neck nervously.
"Oh... Sorry, the echoes only know what I know and I don't really have any experience with this...." ,she muttered sheepishly. The moment was evaporating quickly bit at least there was laughter not tears....
>>"Oh... Sorry, the echoes only know what I know and I don't really have any experience with this...."
Maya, giggle fits finally subsiding, rolled onto her stomach and looked up at Evelyn.
"Well, here's something new you can learn today: when your girlfriend says the dress gotta go... she means she wants you out of your clothes."
She gave Evelyn a few moments for the echoes to file the new information. The good news was, she only had to teach them every new thing once. The upside of perfect memory.
"I'm sorry" she chuckled, sitting up "You are like... no one else I have ever met. I never know when you're gonna surprise me. Or... the other way around."
The pink on Evelyn's face slowly faded, and she forced a small smile back at Maya. There wasn't much she could do to regain the dignity she just lost, but it felt nice to hear Maya laugh. Even if it was at her expense. She accepted the 'lesson' with grace.
"The echoes have taken note, and promise to not make the mistake in the future." She said lightly, and she studied her girlfriend for a moment before smiling and standing up.
"Well, I'm sure both will continue happening. And you know, I'm just full of surprises. I'm a quick learner too." With a flirtatious smile she stood, and the dress made it's way to the floor. Then she pranced to the bathroom, but not before sticking her tongue out at Maya on the way. "I'm taking a shower, and you can do whatever you want." She declared and disappeared around the corner. Only time would tell if Maya's own 'echoes' knew how to read.

The last of the giggling came to a grinding halt as Maya's jaw dropped simultaneous with the dress. Talk about surprises.
As Evelyn pranced off into the bathroom, it took the mirrorwalker a precious few seconds for her brain to catch up to what was happening. She had no echoes of her own. But she was not completely oblivious either.
Scrambling off the bed with a speed that almost made her faceplant on the floor, Maya followed her girlfriend to the bathroom. The morning had definitely taken a turn for the better.
