The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"I will call you if any relevant information presents itself."
Well. That had been easy enough, Kealey decided as the Detective took the picture back and frowned at it. He was disappointed, and the empath's heart went out to him a bit. Who knew what he really wanted to do with his investigation? Maybe he'd just been trying to help the girl the whole time.
....but maybe not. Kealey watched him as he left, and decided she would talk to Shin and see if he could figure anything out, get some details. Maybe the whole thing was getting blown out of proportion.
Just to be sure that the Detective was really gone, Kealey waited a few moments after the door had closed, then made her way towards the room where the young girl had gone.
It was an interesting approach, and Kealey hesitated to knock on the door. The little girl was still full of distrust and fear, and if what the Detective said was true, then it might be a little dangerous to startle her.
The empath frowned though...it would be cruel to make the girl wait. So, Kealey reached up and knocked, then grinned and waved.

The study room had chairs, but Kaitlyn was sitting on the floor. It was dark without the lights on, but there was just enough light filtering in through the windows and the blinds for her to read by. Her reason for setting up like this: nobody would be able to tell that the study room was occupied just by looking at it from outside.
When she heard the knock, Kaitlyn started thinking about escape routes. She fully expected the detective to be with the X-lady. When all she saw was her smiling and waving, she started to relax. Not enough that she wasn’t still ready to get up and run, but it was an improvement.
“…Is he gone?”

The girl was sitting on the floor, and Kealey shook her head at the way she tensed in recognition. There weren't a lot of feelings there, which generally meant that instincts were firing strongly.
Was the detective gone? "He is." the empath said, coming through the doorway and joining Kaitlyn on the floor.
"I told you I would send him away, and I did." she said matter-of-factly, pulling the card from her pocket.
"He gave me this, but I think you should have it." she said, holding the small square of cardstock out towards the younger woman. Kealey hadn't even looked at the thing, so hopefully giving Kaitlyn a little control over the situation would help her out.
"If you want to keep the book, I can check it out to you. You can also come in here any time you need somewhere to chill out."
Kealey looked at the girl earnestly. "Is there anything else I can help with?"

Kaitlyn looked straight ahead, staring at the wall, keeping herself from making eye contact with her savior. Once Kealey handed her the card, she started staring at that instead. For a while, she was silent.
She felt guilty about threatening to blow up the school. Even though it seemed like a good call at the time, it was completely unnecessary. Kealey had already agreed to lie for her before that point, and she probably didn’t need to hear the whole story about Kaitlyn’s old family. Kealey had done a good thing for her, and Kaitlyn responded with threats.
At the same time, she felt like she was obliged to be Kealey’s enemy. Kealey was on the X team. As a matter of principle, she didn’t feel comfortable saying ‘thank you for risking your livelihood for my sake even though I’ve known you for only five minutes,’ or ‘I’m sorry I threatened to kill you and everyone else in this building for no good reason.’
But Kealey deserved to hear something like that, and Kaitlyn knew it.
She finally spoke: “I wasn’t actually gonna blow up the school. That’d be dumb.”

The girl's emotions were absolutely fascinating, Kealey decided, and far too developed and mature than someone that age should have to deal with. Somehow, the blond decided, she was going to get the full story here, and do something to help.
The girl finally spoke, after looking at the card for an eternity, and Kealey nodded her head. "You'd have definitely given yourself away to the Detective." she said, decided that staying practical was the best course of action here. "Even if he was inside at the time. I know the NYPD, and they don't go anywhere without letting half the department know."
The blond studied the little girl, wondering why she was so willing to work against the force that her husband was a loyal part of.
"He's figured out that you can do that, by the way." Kealey said, "So you'll want to do as little of that as possible if you want to stay under the radar."
It was what the girl needed. That's why. And she hadn't blown up the school.

How the heck did the detective find that out?
“That sucks.” Kaitlyn let out a shaky sigh. “I thought they thought I was dead.” And she would probably feel a lot less terrified right now if they still did.
“But I’m not the only mutant kid who can blow stuff up.” So it’s not like the cops would come investigate the school every time something blew up. At least, she hoped not. In that case, her next power mishap could mean losing her family. “I mean, it’s not too weird for stuff to blow up here, right?”

Kealey almost frowned. She'd thought she was helping by giving the girl the information that the Detective had vaguely given away, but Kaitlyn seemed uneasy.
The frown faded with the girl's questions though, and she even chuckled in the end.
"You make a very valid point. A day without some kind of explosion here is rare. Which is probably why he came looking."
There was a pause while Kealey thought over her next words carefully.
"You're safe here though. As long as you want to stay."

Safe? Kaitlyn doubted it.
“Your husband’s a cop, though.” Or some kind of cop-in-training who might as well be one already. The information she could gather as a Xaviers’ student wasn’t clear on that point. Either way, he would probably say something if he found out about it, and he probably would find out about it since Kealey knew. Heck, any of the X-Men might turn her in; Kealey being nice was probably just some kind of fluke.
Maybe living at Xaviers’ was too risky.
