The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Tses walked next to him over to the big cats, gradually loosing the edge she had when they first arrived. Instead, there was a small change that seemed to take over her; it was an almost childlike interest in the things she saw. She'd never been to a zoo before. It was odd seeing all the animal themed trash cans, speakers, trees and buildings. Everything looked colorful and childlike to her, yet, strangely fun.
As they approached the cages, she faintly thought about what Ty said, that it was her day too. It felt... odd for her. She never did things for 'fun'. At most, she did them for the run, for the way her pulse raced and her blood ran and her thoughts came alive. This was different though. It was calm. There was no rush to it, except the occasional skipped heart beat when Ty did something cute, then the quick repulsion of her emotions to the feeling of likeing him. She wouldn't fall for him. Nope, no way, no how. But maybe...it was ok to at least like the zoo.
The tiger's cage was a long walled exhibit, with glass at one point and bars at the other. You could either go to the lower portion of the exhibit, or overlook the big cats by the bars. From overhead, they could see the figures of the big cats, and they were beautifully majestic, more amazing than any cute little stuffed animal she had seen of one, or any photograph. Tses let out a little breathe, staring at the tigers, and she felt a little smile unwillingly cross her face as she looked at the closest one; a white tiger. "They're beautiful... I've never seen something like it... They look so... powerful." She stumbled with her words, and her cheeks got a little pink as she tried to compose herself. As the white tiger stood and strode their way, however, she couldn't help but lean forward, watching it excitedly as the big cat blinked it's large eyes up at her, then padded back towards the rocks with disinterest.

Ty looked over at her, smiling at how she seemed to be reacting so far. No gunshots, no thugs, and no other mutants. Today was just going to be the two of them. From what he knew of her, she needed this. Just a day to relax, with no danger and no excitement. In his mind, today was all about her. Making her happy.
Averting his glance from her so she wouldn't think he was staring, he looked over his shoulder, seeing another exhibit. Across from the tigers, the servals were much more active. The exhibit was set up similarly to the tiger exhibit, only with more trees and a small pond for them to play in.
Suddenly, one of the small cats leaped straight to the bottom limb of one of the trees, looking at the couple. "Dude...." Ty murmured with a whistle as he wandered behind them to the serval exhibit.
((Clarification point: the animals listed in this post do not reflect those in the actual central park zoo. This is MRO-verse. There zoo got a few additions))
Tses watched the tiger move away, and frowned at its fuzzy tail as it disappeared inside the rocks. In her mind, it seemed like poor judgement to add a part of the exhibit you couldn't see. Who decided tigers needed privacy anyway? She watched the golden colored tigers for a second, but they seemed as disinterested in her as the first. It annoyed her, but at the same time, she could envy their laid back personalities.
She heard Ty move, and turned her head, watching as he wandered towards the some odd cat like creatures. She had never seen one before, and curiosity drew her after him. "What are those?" She asked, coming up to the exhibit and looking at the tiny creatures. She straightened the jacket on her shoulders and gazed at them, trying to make out their little forms.
They looked like house cats with strange faces and markings. Gold-ished colored like the tigers, catlike and lithe little bodies, but they had spots instead of stripes. As she looked closer, she decided it's face was a little squished, and it gave her a little snobbish expression with it's wrinkled nose. She smirked at them, as the little cat weaved closer in the tree. "It looks like it ran into the glass of the exhibit." She teased it. She was not as impressed with the smaller cats as the tiger, although she did enjoy the way it could jump and it's natural grace.

"Servals," Ty answered, watching the smaller cats jump and climb their exhibit. He chuckled at her teasing them.
"Heh...yeah they do look funny, but they're underestimated, despite their small size. In the wild, they're known to pick low-flying birds out of the air." Okay, so maybe he was reading off of the plaque on the exhibit, but it was still interesting to him. He loved animals.
"I love all animals, really. Each one is different, but not without its strengths and weaknesses. Like us mutants, when you think about it. What I gather, no two of us are alike. Some are built for offense, some for defense...and others...knowledge. It all sort of fits together."
Tses listened to him explain the cats, and felt a little more appreciation for them. She knew what it was like to be underestimated for being small. She faced that a lot as a kid, before she learned to use her powers to her advantage. Yet she still couldn't get over it's smashed face, as much as she felt like she could relate to the little cats. They were cute, but in an annoying little way. Then again, she did seem to attract annoying cute things...
She glanced to the right, and saw another big cat, with fluffy white fur and spots like the serval. She moved over to that exhibit and looked at it closely. It had awfully big paws for being smaller than the tiger. She glanced down at the plaque in front of it's cage, and tried to read the information on it. Snow Leopard. She hadn't heard of that before, and tried to see what other information it gave her. After a few seconds, it made her frown at little bit, as her brain stumbled over the scientific names, the habitat facts, and other words that were out of her reading range. For once, she wished she had spent more time with her nose in a book than with her fist after someone's wallet. She wasn't dumb or anything like that. This type of stuff just wasn't really beyond her.
She glanced up for Ty, trying to hide the fact she didn't really understand the plaque in front of the exhibit. The last thing she wanted was to admit she was less literate than the average person. "So: snow leopard. Does that mean there are other leopards too?" She stumbled over the word leopard, and it came out as more of a 'leo-pahrd'. There was a sort of warning glare behind her eyes, as if daring him to make fun of the way she pronounced the animals name. It was spotted, like the serval and the cheetahs she'd seen pictures of. "I'm sorry, dumb question." She tried to suck it back in and turned away from him, cheeks turning a little pink and frown returning as she intensely stared at the big cat. It stared right back at her.

Ty was busy watching the servals when Tses brought him out of his trance with another question. Ah, so she found the snow leopards. He gave a soft smile when she mis-pronounced it, but he didn't say anything. Mostly on account of the glare.
"Yeah, there are snow leopards and you have regular leopards," he said, not correcting her, just pronouncing the word correctly without rubbing her face in it. "Snow leopards are a bit smaller, and live in rocky, snowy terrain while leopards live in the jungle. Leopards also can have a rare pigment change called Melanism, which makes them black. The opposite of what made that tiger over there right."
Suddenly, he hushed, feeling like a smarty-pants. He wasn't trying to rub her face in anything, just trying to explain. "I....read alot of animal books when I was younger..." he blushed.
Melanism? Tses felt a little overwhelmed as he started speaking in the same language the plaque was in. She shoved her hands into her pocket, and her face kept a calm expression on it, not angry, but still a little frustrated. Mostly at herself. She kept feeling dumber the more she realized how little she knew about the animals around her. And she felt dumb for stumbling over the animals names. Especially when he gave her a smile that was understanding; she felt patronized.
Normally around Ty, she felt like she had the upper-hand. She was fast, strong, knew how to fight, and was a fairly decent thief. But this was one place he held all the cards in. She was learning, slowly, and she loved seeing the big cats. But she also had an emotional struggle building with every little goof up she made.
"I ... didn't really read." Tses admitted, her left hand coming up and fiddling with the chain of the necklace around her neck for a moment. "Wasn't much books around when I was a kid." There, she admitted it, and she glanced away from him staring at the leopard as it stretched it's huge paws. What did it matter anyway? She knew enough to do what she needed. So what if she wasn't science smart as well.

Ty gave a nod. "I understand. When I was younger, I would lie in my room and read after my regular beatings...Sometimes I wished I could be whatever animal I was reading about. I know, maybe it's silly, but..it was all I knew to do."
Ty shook these negative thoughts and feelings. No. Today was going to be a good day."But that's all over now. So I clung to that bit of knowledge. Aside from here, it isn't very useful, heh. But if you wanna know anything else, if I don't know I can find out. If you want that is." He blushed slightly. He wasn't trying to be a know it all, and he didn't want to come across that way.
"My dad was like that." Tses felt herself saying, staring at the snow leopards paws, then back at the sign. It was a quick comment she didn't linger on, especially when he moved on towards happier topics.
"And I'm sure the list of things I do know in this place is shorter than the things I don't, so you can go ahead and tell me them if you want... I won't get mad." It was a rare promise for her. Normally she insisted on violence, but she felt a bit calmer now, especially with little bits of memories tingling at the back corner's of her mind. Maybe her explosive personality needed some breaks... after all... she never liked the man from her past who always had his fists ready instead of a smile. For the first time in awhile, she gave him a real smile, with none of the glaring, the snide facial expressions or the crinkled noses. She looked almost pretty when she wasn't pissed off.

Ty nodded. "I can relate to that," was all he said on the subject.
Then, he smiled at her promise not to get mad. "Okay. Thanks. I just don't wanna seem like a know-it-all. I'm not trying to be. I'm just like a kid in a candy store at these places, and the plaques can be hard to understand sometimes."
After this, he looked ahead, to the nearest exhibits. "See? Over there are leopards. The bigger ones in the exhibit next to it are jaguars." Walking over, he pointed the differences out. "See how a jaguar is bigger? They're also known to drag their kill up a tree and eat it there so other animals can't steal it."
"Eh, don't worry you're not a know it all.... yet." She gave a little smirk, her sarcasm coming back and the almost 'cute' smile vanishing. It was nice while it lasted right? She tried.
As they moved over towards the leopards, she could see why they shared the same name. all the leopards seemed to have spots. Well, so did the jaguar, but she didn't recognize the differences right away. They both looked the same to her, although one seemed to have a different more complete circle to it's spots. She only noticed if she squinted at them.
"I like the jaguars better." She remarked, staring at both intently then giving a nod to resolve the idea. "Hey, what is your favorite animal? Well, tiger's not included, because I think that'd be the cheap answer." She tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear as she looked at him, waiting the answer.

Ty chuckled at her reaction, then the question. Man, this was nice...just the two of them. Peaceful, quiet, even slightly humored. "My favorite? Well, not counting the 'cheap' answer....hm...I can't pick. Wolves, monkeys, big cats, sharks...I love 'em all. Except for those huge freaking spiders, but here, they're behind glass so that's fine."
He gave another smile, brushing his hair away. "So, what do you want to see next, since I picked this one?" he asked, looking at her, a relaxed, comfortable look on his face. He was very much content.
Tses blinked in confusion, bewildered at the thought of trying to pick an animal. She glanced around the zoo, frowned a little, and realized after a moment she wouldn't be able to just 'pick' an animal, considering she only knew the basic: wolf, tiger, monkey. Finally, she got an idea, and put her hand across her eyes, spun in a circle, and pointed in the general arctic animal direction. "There! That way." She said, and spread her fingers just barely, peaking through the slits. Her pigtails bobbled slightly from the spin, and she let her hand drop with a little shrug. It was a moment she regretted rather quickly. That definitely did not fit with her 'tough' girl illusion she worked so hard to maintain.
"The sign has ice cubes on it. I don't suppose there are very many ferocious animals in the snowy part of the zoo, are there?" She said, secretly hoping there was some man eating animal to help regain her dignity.

Ty bit back a chuckle as she covered her eyes, much like that of a child. Yep....this place really brought out the kid in everyone. Honestly he liked seeing her like this, made her even more attractive to him. ....Good thing she wasn't a telepath as well.
"You'd be surprised," Ty answered with a chuckle. "Polar bears get pretty darn big. And they're tough. Then you got seals, walruses, penguins....Actually, come on, I'll show you. It's much more fun to see than to listen to me run my mouth~" he joked before leading her to the Arctic area, where the surroundings became more themed towards the cold and snowy part of the world. And thanks to the holiday season, in the middle of the area was a large, white Christmas tree, decorated in multiple colors with a big globe on top.
But since the zoo was closed today, it wasn't lit. "Wow...it probably looks better lit, but...wow. Anyway, the polar bears are over this way!"
Tses followed after him, her boots clicking on the pathway as they walked. When they reached the 'arctic' area of the zoo, it looked more Christmasy than normal. She recognized all the basic Christmas staples: the bulbs, the lines of Christmas lights, and the little banners with animals wearing red and white hats like Santa Claus. As they walked, she listened to him describe the polar bears. They sounded a lot more ferocious than the cute cuddly cartoons she saw on the soda cans and holiday pictures.
When they came to the Christmas tree, Tses stopped in front of it and slowly gazed up. Oddly enough, this was the first Christmas tree she'd ever seen in person. She never celebrated Christmas as a kid. She never realized they were missing out on something until she took to the streets and saw the snow frosted windows and the green trees planted in the middle of people's living rooms. They seemed odd to her at first: giant trees with carpets of fake snow or colorful fabric, and little light bulbs decorating the branches. The ornaments ranged form round glass bulbs to hodge podge home-made decorations that looked like globs of food products stuck on with some glue or tape. But after seeing one or two, and watching the piles of colorfully decorated boxes underneath the tree, she knew there was something special about those evergreens. Whether plastic or real, tinsel colored or fake, she watched them from the other side of the window, and tried to understand their hidden meaning.
Now, she stood at the base of this giant tree. It was fat on bottom, skinny on top like any other tree, a white color, with something round and oddly earth shaped perched at the top. It wasn't lit up, but in the daylight it didn't matter. The sun glimmered off the branches, and it gave it a sort of sparkle. It was a little magical. Because the tree was so large, she almost felt like a little kid in one of those houses, staring up at the top of the Christmas tree; there would have been piles of colorful boxes, set beneath it's branches, and it would stand over them like a colorful guard. Maybe, this wasn't her Christmas tree. But it was her Christmas, and they were here in the zoo to enjoy a day together. It was the first Christmas gift she ever got.
She stood for a moment, forgetting he was talking. She just stared at the giant tree, blue eyes bewildered and mouth slightly open. Her hands hung down at her sides, and her chin tilted up trying to see the very top. Then, she realized he was moving away, and quickly glanced back towards him, but couldn't get herself to move away from the tree. "Hey, wait a second... I just... I've never ...." She blushed and crossed her arms, nudging the ground with her toe and looking awkward, then she glanced back up at the tree, a sad sort of longing in her face. "I've never had a Christmas tree before. Can we stay... just a second?" It was probably the politest request he'd ever get from her.
