The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Katrina watched as a ring tailed lemur coiled up his springy legs and pounced on his brother who had been happily sunning on a rock and minding his business.
Zig!
The offending lemur raced off, with his brother close behind. Their stripy tails streamed behind like black and white banners as they bounded around the pen.
Zag!
At their hopping top speed, they turned around the base of a tree without losing even a bit of their speed by bouncing of the side of a rock.
Zoom!
Up the tree they went, each to his own branch where they laughed at each other with their strange squeaky barks.
Yup, it was definitely worth two hours of scrubbing graffiti off of the zoo's walls with the other x-kids to get a free admission ticket for each of helper. Katrina had chosen to redeem hers immediately. She hadn't been to the zoo in almost two years! One year she had spent at Mondragon Labs during the registration act and it would have been a pretty bad idea to try sneaking out just to go to the zoo, then a summers worth of cleaning and mansion repairs, then a year of school work and other general business. Now that the school year was over she could relax. She wasn't even worried about her final geography grade yet; grades wouldn't be out until the end of the week.
The sun was warm, the complimentary soda in her hand was cold, the lemurs chased each other, and Katrina was content.
How long had it been since she'd been to the zoo? Ages. And the last zoo she'd seen wasn't even in America. The animals here all seemed... well, somehow Americanized. Not that giraffes and pandas and echidna were American. But there was something about their doleful, lazy eyes. These were not tame animals, but neither were they wild. Not anymore.
Ghost sat on a bench some paces back from the lemur enclosure. The monkeys were always lively enough to keep her from slipping into a zoo-induced misery. Was she wild? Ever? Or had she always been tame and content to sit behind the glass. Ghost smoothed her skirt, snowy white as her hair. The symmetry of it made her happy. It was days like this that made her wonder what normal people her age were doing with their lives? Certainly not getting ulcers from running a bookstore.
The afternoon sunlight cut through the carefully trimmed trees and swathed the path and the front of the lemur cage in golden light. Katrina, sweating soda in hand, watched the playful critters in wonderment. Mrs. Dumonde had said that it was alright for Katrina to stay after as long as someone else would go with her. Of course Ghost had volunteered. She already had the day off of work and wanted to spend as many moments outside as was allowable by sunlight. It was partially selfishness that prompted her to accompany Katrina, but somehow Ghost didn't seem to think the girl minded.
Ghost was giving her space enough if she wanted. No need to be the annoying chaperone. But she never let the girl out of her sight. Not after she'd run away. Honestly, Ghost was proud of Mrs. Dumonde for letting Katrina out not under her own supervision. It made Ghost all the more vigilant after being trusted with so valuable a person.
And there was no rush at all. Ghost's hands still ached from the harsh chemicals they'd used to scrub at the walls, but the summer sun was fast making her forget the acrid smell. The people passed on the pathways intent to see this or that. It didn't matter to Ghost what they did or did not see, as long as Katrina was content. And they had nothing but time anyway. Time and lemurs.

Clear skies, the sun was bright and the flasks was full all systems were go for Bacchus’s big day out. For the past few weeks he had been working with Ulysses to try and affect other things with his powers, he was now on rodents. The spiders after a while got boring all they could do after a while was lay eggs and spin webs and frankly he ran out of rolled up newspaper, the idea of a swarm of mutated spiders intrigued him but the thought of them running rampant with no ones direction was a mistake, not to mention he had a feeling Slate would be able to single him out as the cause. It will always be a challenge to pull one over on Slate.
Deciding that it was high time he got something other than a rodent he figured the zoo was the perfect place to go. He could try on his two crocodiles but the fact of the matter was he had become rather attached to them and didn’t want to part with them if something should go wrong. Only of occasions Bacchus miscalculated the amount of his power on the rodent or spider in question and caused them to blow up rather than grow, which was cool looking but kind of counter productive in his book.
As he approached the entrance from the zoo Bacchus pulled the money from his pocket and took the ticket. Entering the zoo with a large malicious grin glued onto his face he looked around and picked up the scents and sounds of the zoo. Taking out one of his flasks, he downed the first swig deeming the rancid smell of the hippopotamus exhibit disgusting. Immediately he crossed off the idea of stealing a hippo, not only was it big as is but from what he had seen and heard, they were far to aggressive to be directed or tamed, which was something Bacchus was looking for.
What better way to cause some chaos and rob a few banks all in one day the answer was simple, get something that would draw attention from him. Then it came to him while he was working on the spiders and rats, “I should get something big and powerful enough to cause some extreme damage” spotting the elephants Bacchus’s grin widened but decided that they would be to much of a handle full and would probably get kicked from the Sanctuary.
As far as he knew pets were allowed but would an elephant pass as a pet, hell he wasn’t even sure if anyone but Isabel knew of the two crocodiles he kept in his room on occasion. Rhino’s had poor vision, Lions aren’t as fun as they looked and tigers…. “Tigers are doable.” Muttered Bacchus as he walked over to the tiger exhibit his large form looming over the edge that was the entrance to the pit. Now if only he could find a reason to enter the pit, if he liked the tiger’s personalities then it would be a good idea to grab one if not two.
Peering through his large aviator’s and taking another swig of his flask Bacchus looked around to see if another animal would be easier to handle for a longer period of time than a tiger. His gaze fixed on some baboons with the big red but and Bacchus shook his head feeling that Ulysses would feel insulted. His gaze then turned to the lemurs and shook his head again. As of right now Tigers were looking like the best choice. Spotting a group of children playing too close to the exhibit Bacchus almost wished one of them would get pushed or fall into the exhibit.
It was nice to be off of the school grounds. Even when her mother wasn't extremely suspicious that she would run away at any time, she wasn't allowed to go anywhere without an adult. At least things like X-kid missions allowed her to get out without her mother actually being there. She liked Ghost, though, so she was glad that the task of supervising students that had decided to stay at the zoo that afternoon had fallen to the white haired aeromancer; she was more like a big sister and less like a teacher than the other X-men.
After wrestling and chasing each other for awhile, the lemurs decided it was time to take a nap in the sun. Katrina finished her soda and decided it was time to move on to a different exhibit. She walked over to where Ghost was resting on the bench and recycled her cup in the bin next to the bench.
Tigers were the next exhibit down, so Katrina thought she might as well look at them next. She doubted she'd spend a lot of time watching them. After all, she'd seen plenty of tiger up close. With a friend that could shift at will into a big striped feline, she'd had the privileges of snuggling next to a tiger for a nap, of going for a tiger-back ride, and of sweeping mounds and mounds of tiger fur out of her bedroom. Somehow the idea of watching tigers sleep in the sun from behind a railing and a moat wasn't all that exciting.
“Hey Ghost, wanna go see if the tigers here are bigger than Calley?” After that they could move on to more exciting exhibits.
"The tigers? Won't it be hard to compare size from afar? I'd think Calley would look bigger every time, just because he was touchably close." And honestly, how many people here at the zoo could claim to have touched a tiger? Despite what she was saying, Ghost was already standing and sliding her hands over her skirt to keep it from escaping.
Not many kids had wanted to stay after scrubbing graffiti and one of the other teachers had also stayed. Ghost didn't feel guilty splitting off from the main group as they had already done. As much as she cared for those kids, they weren't as special to her at Katrina was. Maybe she should have stayed to get to know them better... ah well, they were on their way to the tiger pit now.
Without a place for lazy sitting, Ghost followed Katrina right up to the safety railing and safety glass. The metal railing was painted that lovely zoo green that is never quite managed in nature and felt like underneath years and years of hand grease and paint layers there might be a metal pipe in there. Somewhere. It radiated heat from being so long in the sun. Ghost didn't touch the railing. Instead she peered through the glass into the pit.
It was lush as a jungle with rocks and all manner of flora sticking out here and there. A sprinkling of tigers could be found lazing over a rock or hiding their bright stripes behind some bright flowers. There wasn't a whole lot of action go on down there, but beyond the monkeys, Ghost never really expected much beyond lethargy from these slightly less than wild versions of their species.
"Well? What do you think?" Ghost rubbed her arms against the sunlight. There weren't trees to shade them here She should have worn some sun screen.

Disappointment was the best way to describe the way he was feeling for the moment. The tigers were lying about in the sun purring… the thrill of the wild most likely was never instilled in their cushy life the thought of them changed slightly as now pictured them as giant five hundred pound kittens. Now frowning at the large glass wall before the pit Bacchus decided if he wanted to see a kid get thrown in there the kid most likely would die once he hit the ground which wouldn’t even trigger the tiger instincts. “Poor beasties” Bacchus said as he watched them rolling about in the sun. It was enough to make anyone lose their lunch.
His legs muscles growing slightly Bacchus jumped into the air forcing the ground to crater slightly so he could get enough power to scale the glass wall and the pit and land safely in the large rocks which he was almost sure were fake seeing as his feet went right through them. He didn’t bother hiding the fact that he was now in the tiger exhibit which he thought was clear seeing as some people were screaming and pointing at the giant man in the tiger exhibit. Part of him hoped that everyone would decided to stay so when the time came for it the tigers could come out and play.
The first tiger he approached saw him and let out a soft roar and then started to purr. “You got to be kidding me!” Bacchus said as he looked around for a meaner tiger and found nothing but kitten after kitten. There was however one tiger that caught his attention as he tried to pounce a butterfly, “Guess he’ll do…” Bacchus said as he walked over scuffed the tiger and lifted him in his now mutated large forearms.
With another fluid motion the crater formed in the tiger exhibit as Bacchus jumped into the air and landed outside the tiger exhibit where he was once standing next to all those children. “Hey kids!” Bacchus said with a malicious smile as the children slowly started to back up, “You guys want to see something way cool?” he asked as he lifted a finger and held the tiger in one of his arms grinning like the Cheshire cat, “watch closely because I can only do this once!”
Poking the Tiger in it's side Bacchus concentrated his mutation on not only him but the beastie as well, focusing more on the tiger Bacchus scrunched up his face as he first focused on the beating of the tigers heart which started to accelerate once he touched the side. After the heart Bacchus assumed the rest of the body started to follow seeing as the once five hundred pound cat now weighed close to six hundred pounds. Sure he could have made him bigger but Bacchus wasn’t really that confident in his abilities as of yet and didn’t want to kill the beastie.
Setting down the enlarged tiger Bacchus smiled to hear the large tiger purr as he dropped down the he ground and looked like he was getting into the pouncing stance, “Good kitty!” said Bacchus as people started to scream.

The tiger exhibit was kind of boring. At least for about the first thirty seconds. The tigers were napping in the sun and that was about it. None of them looked as big as Calley, but they were considerably farther away, too. Lazy and boring.
>>>"Well? What do you think?"
Katrina didn't get a chance to answer Ghost's question, because a moment later a tall man had leaped over the top of the wall of glass and into the tiger cage. Instantly things stopped being boring. Zoo keepers rushed here and there calling back and forth on walkie talkies sending messages like “We've got a 20-40 at 315” and disbelieving “What's?!” in response. People who had previously been bored flocked to the glass to watch the proceedings. People pressed up behind them, kind of pinning Ghost and Katrina in the front row.
Down below the mutant man's arms sprouted and he wrapped them around one of the tigers. With another leap he was out of the pen again. If it hadn't been chaotic before, it certainly was now as the people who had flocked in decided that they had elsewhere to be now that there was a dangerous mutant and a tiger on the loose. Some decided they had better scream, too. The crowd thinned and Katrina could see the tiger itself. It was much bigger than it had looked from far away and it was preparing to pounce.
Katrina remembered a time when she had made a real wall invisible to a certain tiger she had been riding and ended up with a pair of scraped elbows as a result. It was now time for the reverse of that trick. There were too many people around to throw up an illusion of a wall that everyone could see, but she could certainly make one that the tiger could see. It was a brick enclosure completely surrounding the tiger in his own little private world. No one could see it except the big cat. At least, that was the goal. The young illusionist hadn't practiced that particular kind of personalized illusion more than twice before so there was a number of ways that plan could fail.
“Ghost. What do we do?” Katrina figured that they had to do something. It was the right thing to do to help out in these situations. Isn't it?
Hysterical people streamed like water past Katrina and Ghost, the two rocks that made a disturbance in the flow.
"Ghost. What do we do?"
Katrina's words brought Ghost out of her disbelieving stupor. Her jaw had dropped so low, it took her a moment to close her mouth and readjust to the feeling of it being shut. A man had not only vaulted the fence, but he had hand picked a tiger and then he grew parts of himself... and then they were back over and the tiger grew?
She shook her head. Sometimes mutants were even wilder than anything she had previously imagined. Just when she thought she'd seen it all -- there was a tiger that was definitely bigger than Calley and a man that was definitely bigger than most any other she'd seen too. Or... wait... "He looks familiar." People were running and screaming and Ghost was worried about where she'd met the man before? She shook her head again and tried to focus on the problem at hand. It was just so hard to transition from a lazy summer day into danger mode. "We should do the right thing, Miss Katrina. Let's be polite and introduce ourselves."
Ghost surveyed the scene. Most everyone was smart enough to stay away, but there were people everywhere. The zoo employees seemed to be directing the flow of people that were flocking away from the scene well enough, but there were always spectators. And of course those spectators formed a sort of barrier to the rest of the crowd, staying only as close as they dared. Which was of course farther way than Katrina and Ghost were standing.
"Sir, I am not sure what your intentions are, but the animal belongs inside the enclosure." Her words were firm and carried through the hysterical air as if she had spoken through a bull horn. Ghost took a subtle step forward to put herself slightly ahead of Katrina and therefore, slightly between the potential danger and the girl. "If you will, please release and return the animal to its home." She'd give him a chance first. She would always give them a chance to make things right on their own before violence came into the picture.

The adrenaline that was caused from the mass chaos was thrilling, people screaming and running from the slightly enlarged tiger that was now walking somewhat funny, something was off about the tiger, it seemed to notice something that wasn’t there and sat down in a funny position. He didn’t know why but the tiger looked around confused about what was going on, the family running away closest to him didn’t even seem to grab his attention as he n longer purred. His eyes shifted as some security were approaching them and as a small blonde girl and a somewhat familiar white hair girl remained.
He had seen her from before but where was she from, slightly upset he couldn’t recall her name his attention turned back to the conversation they were having, despite the far of screams Bacchus could only pick up on a few words seeing as they were so close to him opposed to the now distant people which had circled around them entrapping them in a small wall of spectators. Ghost and Katrina, he picked up on what he assumed were the girls names, the small one was Katrina while the other was Ghost. He frowned at the white haired woman as she spoke to him her voice louder than it should have been.
Clasping his hands over his ears as until the voice died down Bacchus frowned at the woman remembering where she was from as if the proof of her being a mutant was enough to remember where she was from. It was the mansion that was where he had seen her last seen her, she was a member of the X-Men or something a group of mutants that pissed of Isabel, that was all he could remember from what he was told. Mainly because he wasn’t to enthused about destroying a school full of children.
“Why you gotta yell Sheila, I can hear you good enough from where you are…” Bacchus said lazily as he rubbed a finger in his ear and then proceeded to take out his flask and take a swig in hopes to dull the oncoming headache due to the woman being so loud. Looking from the white haired ghost to the smaller Katrina he pointed at the small girl and said calmly, “I don’t know why you're here lil’Shiela but I recommend you leave, no reason for a young one such as yourself from getting hurt.” she reminded him of Brooke pure and simple it was the only reason he didn’t want her to be here.
Turning his attention back to the white haired woman he responded with a, “I don’t think I want to, he seemed happier out here opposed to in a small cage such as the one he was in, more prey and more room to run around…” Bacchus paused and looked to the tiger and frowned slightly, “though it doesn’t seem to be wanting to do much of that now…” sighing slightly as he walked closer to the immobile cat Bacchus called out to it, “here kitty kitty kitty” trying to get it’s attention.

He kind of did. For some reason, Katrina's mind wanted to associate him with Abyss and Isabel, though she knew she hadn't met him when she had visited the Sanctuary. She'd never seen anyone as tall as he was, she was certain of that, but his face was one she recognized from somewhere. Probably if she had seen him before, he hadn't been getting into such trouble or it would have been more memorable.
>>>"We should do the right thing, Miss Katrina. Let's be polite and introduce ourselves."
Katrina gave the older girl a slightly confused look. Was this really an introductions sort of situation, or was that one of the kinds of phrases superheros in movies said then followed up with “fist, meet face” or something like it. The young illusionist suspected the former, because Ghost didn't seem like the kind of person who would be saying cheesy superhero lines. Or introducing her fist to anyone's face for that matter.
>>>"Sir, I am not sure what your intentions are, but the animal belongs inside the enclosure. If you will, please release and return the animal to its home."
Ghost was doing a good job of keeping calm, and the even (albeit loud) tone of her voice helped Katrina keep calm, too, even though the majority of the people around had already panicked themselves off to some other area. Calm was good. If she was calm, maybe the giant would be calm, too. Then they could hopefully work out a solution without getting into a fight or anything like that. Learn, little grasshopper.
In its own personal cage, the tiger was calming down as well. It was used to being confined, so this didn't seem like a big deal. There wasn't a lot of room for him, but there was enough room to circle a few times and lay down to wait, which he did. In his experience, he had been in these small cages several times before. The zoo keepers always let him back into the big cage again after a short time.
>>>“I don’t know why you're here lil’Shiela but I recommend you leave, no reason for a young one such as yourself from getting hurt.”
Katrina frowned around Ghost at the big man. He was a little weird, but it didn't seem like he was about to attack or anything, at least not yet. He contradicted himself, too. First he said that she shouldn't be here because it wasn't safe, but he was the one making it unsafe. Then he went and admitted that he thought the tiger would be more happy outside of his cage with more prey. Did he really want it to hunt people? At this point the big guy seemed more crazy than actually harmful.
“Sir,” Katrina took Ghost's example and called him by the title since they hadn't really done introductions after all, “I think you should reconsider. See, its true that tigers are happier when they are living in their own natural habitats, New York City isn't exactly a very good habitat for a tiger. If he got loose he'd have a really hard time finding any food since there aren't many animals except people and if he starts attacking people, he's more likely to get hunted down and killed than anything else.” She swallowed, checking to see if he was even listening to the rant of a young girl. He was waving his fingers at the tiger through the invisible wall.
>>>“here kitty kitty kitty”
“At least when he lives in the zoo he has people to bring him food and make sure he stays healthy and everything,” Katrina shrugged. It was a boring life, maybe, but not a bad one for the tigers. They had tires and other toys to play with, shade to sleep in, and even other tigers for company. It wasn't altogether different from living at the mansion and never getting to leave, actually. It wasn't ideal, but it wasn't terrible.
Ghost ignored the big man's comments about hearing her just fine. There was no way for her to know that before hand and she was having trouble hearing him over the hum of the crowd. How was she to know bigger ears heard better than smaller ones? She'd had relatively the same sized ears all her life.
Since the tiger was being all nice and calm, Ghost didn't bother trying to do anything to it. It seemed content to flick it's tail every once in a while and she wasn't sure she could lift a tiger even before it got really big. Nw that it was HUGE, she was almost certain her wind didn't have that kind of strength... and that was kind of scary to think about. This man had lifted a tiger... had jumped over the enclosure fencing. That was quite a display of strength right there.
And really, Katrina was being quite articulate and pointed out very clearly some good points that made so much sense, Ghost couldn't imagine why the man wouldn't just put the tiger back where he belonged. Ghost smiled and didn't really have anything to add to Katrina's argument. In fact, she was downright proud of her and glad she was here. Katrina made for good brains... did that make Ghost the muscle? If so they might be in trouble if it came to trading blows.
Unfortunately, Zoo security had gotten it's act together. They pulled out a real bull horn and Ghost had a facial twitch at the initial feedback that happened when they clicked it on.
"PLEASE RETURN THE TIGER TO ITS ENCLOSURE." Hmm... now that was unnecessary loudness. "I REPEAT. RETURN THE TIGER TO ITS ENCLOSURE. THE POLICE ARE ALREADY ON THEIR WA--" Ghost rolled her eyes and formed a vacuum bubble around the man wielding the bull horn. He could listen to himself for all she cared, but they weren't.
The rest of Zoo security seemed to be fanning out to push back the onlookers and get a nice perimeter around Karina, Ghost, and the Giant. They didn't have guns, but they did have beating sticks and some had what amounted to cattle prods with electricity at the end. So far none of them were being foolish with them. And the situation felt kind of silly with everyone but the crowd being so calm.

Eyes fixed on the large black and orange tiger as more and more zoo staff with cattle prods and stun guns gathered around the giant mutant and the two young women, he knew they were there but didn’t really give them much thought seeing as they posed no immediate threat to him that and they were annoying with their megaphones. He could easily top all their voices with a simple vocal shift. Frowning slightly still trying to get the tigers attention Bacchus called out to the runt of the two, “Maybe… Frankly I think he would be happier living the way god intended him to live even if it is for a short while opposed to a life caged like a beast, and it is also one of the reasons why I beefed him up a bit… give him a better chance to catch his prey…”
He knew all to well what it was like to be caged, working for slate, working for some skeezes back home to pay off his fathers debt. All he wanted was to be free from it all to live life the way he wanted, free able to do as he pleased and he concluded that this was the sole reason he had did what he had done with the tiger, he wanted to give it the freedom that he couldn't achieve.
Turning his attention back to the runt and the slightly taller runt Bacchus asked, “Shouldn’t you two be disappearing, I just cleared a tiger from a fenced in cage with little effort, frankly I am surprised the Zoo staff is still around…” Bacchus looked around briefly as the staff edged a few feet closer trying to encircle the tiger. “Any of you blokes or Sheila’s take another step towards this beastie…. It’ll be your last…” Bacchus took another step to the tiger his figure growing another foot both up and out as he looked back to the white haired woman who seemed to have a hand in turning down the staff’s volume, at least the one with the mega phone.
Looking back to the tiger Bacchus’s eyebrow twitched slightly as he took another step closer to the tiger. His bulk now quite large and his weight quite heavy his shirt expanding on his growing chest to the point it started to shatter. The fabrics of the cotton shirt falling to ribbons around him as he took another step closer. Outstretching his hand in hopes to pat the tiger on his back in an attempt to get it’s attention Bacchus stopped short as the tiger let out a fierce roar and fell to it’s side. “No….” Bacchus said as the tiger wriggled slightly his body now trying to compensate for the power that Bacchus forced onto the creature.
The look of worry now on his face Bacchus watched his eyes welling up with water only to stop short before the tears flowed down his face, he knew what was happening, he had seen it before, spiders, rats and crickets all critters he tested his mutation on and almost all of them had gone through the same thing. Something was to small an organ an limb a blood vessel what ever it was they all eventually died and from the way things were looking the tiger was about to do the same thing. Crouching down on his knees Bacchus inched closer to the tiger his hand now on the side of the animal as it’s breathing became irregular and it’s mouth started to bleed out. “I’m Sorry…” Bacchus whispered over and over again to the tiger who was now rumbling in pain.

The giant had his priorities mixed up, in Katrina's opinion. It was better to survive than to die in one blaze of glorious “freedom”. For a tiger, that might mean just living out its quiet life in a cage rather than spending his last moments being hunted through a steel and concrete jungle. For a human or mutant it might mean following the rules of society to avoid getting ostracized, outcast, or even locked up for not conforming to rules. Rules were kind of like a cage, too. If you could live happily within it, you would be fine. If you tried to escape, you would meet the consequences. Socially, this guy in front of them fit into society (and his clothing for that matter) even less well than that tiger he'd “freed” fit into his enclosure.
As the giant grew larger, his shirt stretched and strained and began to develop rips where it could no longer accommodate the large man wearing it. The guy was bigger than Abyss now, and part of Katrina thought that maybe she should probably be starting to feel nervous now, but in reality she only felt bad for both the man and the tiger.
The tiger, which had been content to sit in its illusion cage only he could see suddenly stood, and roared its discomfort. The roar ended in a cough and a gurgle and the striped beast lay down again, quite suddenly. The illusionist that had made his imaginary cage gasped, eyes wide at what happened. The tiger's paws spasmed as if its insides were revolting against it. The giant knelt beside it, and even from across the space that separated them, Katrina could see the red liquid leaking out from the tigers mouth and the pitiful blank expression of pain on its face.
“What ever you did to him, put him right again! You hurt him, can't you see? Change him back and put him back in his cage. He never asked for you to come along and do this to him.” There was an edge of panic in her voice. She was struggling to stay calm, but the tiger was sick maybe even dying and there wasn't anything she could do about it. She had very little experience dealing with death, even of animals, and she was afraid of what was going to happen.
