Home. He was coming home. After all the shouting, the words, and revelations. He was returning where he was welcomed.
Welcomed by friends who were more like family. Welcomed. His mind was still having troubles grasping those two words that had taken his breath away. Those two words...
'Get out'.
The luggage carriage rattled along the terminal floor as Shin pondered what all had happened leading up to those two words. His cousin... had been revealed as a mutant. She'd come out to her parents, with help from Shin. They'd been accepting. Shin had told them all about the mansion, and about how it was a place Kokoro could go when she was ready. It was a place she could learn to control her powers. A place with many mutants that could relate. They'd been so understanding... they'd been great. It had given him the courage to come out to his own parents about the truth.
To tell them... ugh. He slapped his forehead. A woman in a white overcoat and black skirt turned to eye him. He didn't freaking care. He'd been an idiot! It didn't matter. Why had he told them? Why had he... their eyes, glaring. They looked at him like he was a monster. And his mother... she'd cried. He'd asked her, 'mom, stop crying'... please. She hadn't. Those tears were worse than any bullet could have ever been. Made him wish his mutant power had never activated, never stopped the shell... that he'd been struck down right then. Right there. Because those tears were too much.
Only Sasami's words had kept him in-line. They'd been the only words of support his family gave. Shin could barely remember them. He'd been too brokenhearted.
But...
"Shin... mom and dad are idiots. They'll get over it. You take care of yourself and Kokoro. Go back to your school... I'll see about getting them on your side..."
Had seemed close enough. The fact Sasami'd called their parents idiots stood out. That was totally un-Sasami-like.
He'd talked it over with Kokoro's parents afterwards. They'd decided she'd finish up her term in school before she transferred to the mansion. Shin would take care of her then, and be her chaperone in the scary world of white devils. Shin had agreed.
She'd come later that year.

The trunk of the taxi cab slammed shut. Shin turned to look out over the distant skyline by the New York airport. He shielded his eyes and sighed. It had been such a tough trip... he was glad to be home.
"Xavier's Sister School," the Asian muttered. The Taxi driver gave him the eye, but consented. They rattled off towards the mansion.
Towards family.

The taxi jerked to a halt at the main gates. Shin glanced out the window, expecting a crowd... it seemed his return was lowkey enough, not even the birds dared fly low to greet him.
That was alright. He needed some time to think.
"Hey Ghost," He spoke into his cellphone as the taxi driver helped him empty the trunk. "It's Shin. I'll be in for work tomorrow. My trip ended early."
He ended the call, and dialed the number for Katrina. "Hey Kat? It's Shin. I'll pick up Thor a little later. I've got to get my things settled back in. Thanks for taking care of him while I was out. I hope he wasn't too much trouble."
He turned to thank the cabbie, then punched in the code for the gate. As his luggage carriage wheeled along, he stared at the limelight of his cellphone's screen distantly. A thought struck him, and he smiled. A moment of quick dialing. Koga picked up on the other line. "I'm back from Japan, Koga. And you will not believe what happened..." The conversation faded into the background as wheels on gravel rattled on.
It seemed as if, in wanting to be alone with his thoughts, Shin struck out for any and every connection he had. He had to share the news he was back. Even alone on the gravel road to the mansion, he could be surrounded by friends.
