The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

“Mike! We need another order of Padtai! No peanuts on this one though!” Sue called into the kitchen to one of the cooks as she tossed a perfectly good plate of Padtai into the dish sink, not even bothering to scrape the plate first.
Her father, who stood at one of the kitchen’s two stoves mixing a pot of sauces for the next day, turned around when Sue entered and just caught her as she dumped the whole plate into the sink.
The middle-aged man immediately began barking at her in Thai about the ill consequences of chicken and shrimp in the sink and how she would be unstopping the sink this time if it clogged.
“Sorry! Sorry!” she muttered tiredly, going back to remove as much of the food as she could from the inside of the sink and also getting her plastic, food service gloves logged with water. She tossed several handfuls of the noodles into a nearby trash can then headed off to the bathroom to wash the oily water off her hands. Once inside the single stall bathroom, Sue locked the door sat down on the closed toilet lid with a groan.
“Oh my goodness! I am so tired!” she sighed out loud as she folded over on herself, bracing her elbows on her knees. Sue held her head for a moment, her forehead cradled on her wet wrists, before realizing she hadn’t brought any extra gloves with her into the bath room.
“Crap,” she muttered but decided it wouldn’t have been a very sanitary idea anyway. With a sigh, she pulled the gloves off and, holding her hands up so she wouldn’t touch anything, began to attempt to turn on the sink. After several minutes of struggling to turn the facet with just her elbows she gave up.
“Oh forget it!”
She took a moment to collect herself and focused on her mental center while slowly controlling her breathing. Once centered, she reached for the faucet with her bare hands and turned on the water. She could feel the past rising somewhere in the back of her minds eye, attempting to push itself to the forefront, but she fought it back, focusing on her purposeful breaths. She quickly wet her hands and squirted a bit of soap on them, fighting another wave of imposed memory as she touched the soap dispenser. Sue took a little longer than necessary to rinse her hands then braced herself for a third wave of emotion once she shut the water back off.
When she came out of the bathroom, hands up and palms towards her body, she only felt more tired.
‘Meeeeeeh!’ she mentally grumbled as she made her way back towards the kitchen to get another set of gloves.
Her family’s restaurant was a quaint little operation. The small building was vaguely “T” shaped, consisting of two small-ish dining rooms on either side of a short entry way. The kitchen sat behind a double door, one the far left side of the building, the bathrooms down a narrow hallway just beside that. The eatery only sat about 87 people and though small, it was definitely full of character. The walls were a strange, dirty golden orange color (Sue’s father kept promising her mother he would repaint) and colorful paintings depicting detailed scenes from Buddhist tradition and Thai temples covered the walls. A large gold Thai Buddha sat cross-legged in an alcove facing the entryway, greeting those who entered with its thin, closed eyed presence. Two elephant statutes flanked the front door and a Thai flag and a large picture of the Emperor and Empress of Thiland sat on the wall behind the pay counter, to the right of the front door. The floors were linoleum but clean, the ceilings low but well kept and to Sue, the whole place was a second home.
After grabbing a pair of fresh gloves and quickly snapping them on her hands (and fighting a brief memory of the factory worker who packaged them) Sue brought out the new order of Padtai and then retook her position behind the pay counter, waiting to seat or ring up the next customer.
The Full Circle Bookstore had grown from a severely over worked staff of 3 to a well oiled machine consisting of at least 6 part time employees and one new manager, not to mention those original three still were employed. Hard not to be when they were the owner and the owner's two friends. They were really getting the hang of this business stuff and to celebrate the initial three employees' first mutual day off, they decided to eat out.
Ghost, flanked by her X-trainee, Shin, and her full time coffee barist, Aurum, had been looking forward to this day for quite some time. It was on the calendar in her office in nice capital letters. THAI FOOD: Shin, Ghost, & Aurum's Day off. She'd chosen the restaurant, a quaint little thing not too far a walk from the bookstore, and had lured her friends there by offering to pay. She had the money since she only seemed to be working recently.
She dressed appropriately. Any time outside of the store was spent in a skirt, though today was special. Her skirt got upgraded to a dress. A soft and light material with an interesting and indecipherable print in blues and bluegreens that tied at the shoulders and seemed to have no other binding to this world. Shoes were worn, but only because they were mandatory. "Next time, we can go to your restaurant, Aurum, but for this time, I just wanted to relax. I didn't think you would relax if you were in your native habitat." She spoke easily to her friends and employees as she pushed open the door to the Bangkok Gardens.
"Besides, this place is supposed to be really good." She smiled and then started backpedalling immediately. "Ah-- not that your restaurant isn't, but... yeah. Three for a table?" She was suddenly very interested in talking to the girl behind the counter. "Thanks!"

“It’s fine, Ghost. Really.” Aurum laughed. He wore a pair of casually-worn blue jeans and a silken jade shirt underneath a leather jacket. The top button was down and showed a bit of neck. “I’ve been looking forward to checking out this restaurant for some time. I hear their sea food curry is good and their Tom yum is nummy. Is that even a word, nummy?” He turned to Shin.
The Asian wore a pair of black slacks and a dressy black blazer that cut short at the rear-level in a tail. Between the line of buttons on the front, a white business shirt was tucked in behind an elaborate flower-style belt buckle. A black scarf wrapped around Shin’s neck, over his shoulder, and down his back. Both collars were popped.
“Nummy…” He held a finger to pursed lips tentatively. “Um, yeah! Though I’d attribute that more to the curry than the sweet and sour soup. Sweet and sour soup is more ‘delectable’ than nummy.”
“Regardless,” Aurum continued wryly. “My family’s been toying with adding a few Thai items to our menu. It’ll be good research taste-testing possible ingredients.”
"It's always about business for you with food, isn't it? Can't it just taste good?" Shin sighed.
Aurum puffed out his chest and raised a lecturing finger. "No matter the situation, one can always savor the ingredients of food. It's like a truth in this world. Underneath all the spices and gourmet decorations, we are all connected by a common love of food. And I want to see the truth behind each menu item in the world for myself.”
"Pft, whatever man." Shin shook his head with a dismissive smirk. "As long as you don't sneak bites off my plate while you're sampling. I want my curry all to myself."
The two men stopped their conversation as they approached the counter behind Ghost. Shin stuffed his hands into his pockets and smiled at the lady behind the counter.

Slightly disappointed, Sue forced her face into a smile as the front door opened and a trio of people walked into the restaurant, talking amongst themselves. It wasn’t that Sue was feeling particularly unfriendly, she had just been hoping for a moment to breath. She sighed and hoped she didn’t look as haggard as she felt.
>>…Three for a table?...Thanks!">>
Sue nodded at the friendly greetings focused on her and grabbed three menus from a wooden pocket on the wall behind the counter.
“Right this way please,” she said as pleasantly as she could manage and headed for the less crowded of the two dining rooms, the one to the right of the kitchen.
Sue glanced at the trio as she placed the menus on the table one in front of each chair. The three looked very well dressed to Sue and she vaguely wondered if they were celebrating something, but didn’t ask. One of them actually looked vaguely familiar…
Pushing the thought out of mind she stepped back and allowed the three to sit.
“I’ll have to apologize, we are a little understaffed today so things might be a little slow. My name is Sue and I’ll be taking your drink orders. Is this your first time at Bankock Gardens? Our house specialties are our curries. We make all of ours from scratch and we do have vegetarian options available if that is your preference. I suggest the Massaman curry. It’s my favorite.”
Sue pulled out a pad of paper from her apron and poised to take their drink orders.
Ghost flounced brightly after the waitress. With two of her most favorite people in tow, how could this day be bad? Barring spit food and intestines, of course. She couldn't imagine any of it could be bad from the smells wafting toward them from the kitchen they'd passed. There was a lot to take in. To Ghost's delight, all the decorations and furnishings seemed well loved and highly appropriate given the ethnicity of the restaurant.
In short: She approved.
With a practiced movement of her hand tucking her skirt under her knees as she sat, Ghost accepted her menu and smiled all around. "I think water for me unless..." She scanned the menu for something that sounded specific to ether the restaurant or the culture. "Thai tea? I'll have a water and a Thai Iced Tea, please."
While the boys dove into their menus, Ghost dove into the food section. She was starving. Even more so after smelling some good (and some admittedly off color) smells. It was definitely a legitimate Thai place. She could just clap in happiness at her discovery of such a gem. "Oh dear... they're known for their curries, but I do love a good pad thai. Isn't that the measure of a Thai restaurant? Pad Thai?" She then proceeded to fret over her menu choice.

Aurum and Shin followed the waitress gladly to their table. Aurum glanced over his shoulder as they went, taking the restaurant in. It was clean. That was the first thing he noticed. And the decor fit the theme. Shin particularly liked the smell of the food that came at him like a freight train, barreling down to his stomach to cause a rumbling scene. "Massaman Curry sounds really good..." He rubbed his tummy, then picked up a menu and flipped to the drink selection. His eyes skimmed the listings, darting back and forth down the menu. Various teas, some simple soft drinks, maybe an alcoholic beverage of some sort… he settled his finger on a picture as Ghost ordered her tea. Shin held out the menu and pointed emphatically at what he wanted. “Definitely the Massaman curry for my meal. And for a drink? How about a good ol’ fashioned something simple? I’d like a Coke. That’s it for now.”
He smiled, and closed his menu, passing it across the table towards the waitress. His attention turned to Aurum, who’d been brooding over his menu for some time.
“It all looks so good…” Aurum muttered. He hunched over his menu, head in hands. Curries and spicy soups and noodle dishes, oh my. Shin held back a smirk. Poor guy really went overboard in his fanaticism for food. Maybe Shin would have to make a suggestion— Aurum came to a shaky decision, cutting Shin off. “Khanom chin namya… or maybe Kao pad…Pad Thai? I dunno. I guess I’ll go with my default choice here. Can I get a bowl of the Tom Yum soup? And for drink, I’ll go with some green tea. Thank you.”
He passed the menu across the table to the girl. Shin glanced at Ghost, who was fretting over her choice as well. "Pad Thai sounds good to me, Ghost." Shin announced. "It is one of the more popular dishes from Thailand. Did you know it was first made their national dish in the 1930s... 1940s... by Plaek Pibulsonggram? And that during the recession following World War II, noodle shops serving Pad Thai became central in fighting unemployment? Thanks to government promotion, the production of noodles and opening of noodle shops increased, and Pad Thai became a staple food of Thailand. I guess that means it's super-nummy."
"I... didn't peg you for the food aficionado, Shin..." Aurum quirked an eye. He crossed his arms with mild interest. Since when did Shin do that?
“Wikipedia…” Shin announced weakly, scratching the back of his head with a laugh. “Before we came out to the restaurant, I spent about a half-hour researching the food. Didn’t want to come here unknowledgeable, you know?”

Sue couldn’t help but chuckle at the worried faces that composed 2/3 of the table. They were obviously Thai Food virgins or very close to it.
“Our Pad Thai is delicious!” She told the young woman, “It’s a great place for a person unfamiliar to Thai food to start. I think you’ll really enjoy it.”
‘Not that I would have said otherwise if I didn’t think so..’ she mused internally, mentally laughing at her own joke. She was good at making/finding her own entertainment.
“And a Thai tea. Alright, and for you?” Sue turned to the Asian boy at the table who had obviously knew what he was doing. She glanced at the picture his finger touched and nodded.
“Massaman and a Coke, got it.” More scribbling. Writing was a little hard and slightly slow going with the large gloves on, but she managed as she had for many years.
“And for you?” Sue then turned to the other young man who didn’t appear to be nearly as prepared as either of his companions. She found his hunched, worried look reminiscent of a student trying very to take an exam for which he had not prepared. She had to try very hard not to laugh at his seemingly plight.
Finally he made his decision.
“Tom Yum soup and a green tea. Ok then,” she was scribbling the order on her pad when "Asian Boy", as her mind dubbed him, begin spouting of the history of one of her native foods, a history that not even she really knew. She blinked at him blankly for a moment in shock. Who was this kid? For a moment she wondered if he was Thai but laughed out loud when he admitted to having done research on Wikipedia. She couldn’t help but suddenly find this party a rather amusing group.
“I’ve never had anyone research our food before coming,” she said, her voice still full of mirth. “At least that I know of anyway.”
She paused a moment, wondering if her next question would seem to presumptuous, but decided to ask anyway, “Hey…if you don’t mind me asking…um, where are you from?” It was obvious from his accent that he wasn’t American however she wasn’t very good at placing people with nationality. She hoped he wasn’t offended by her question.
((OOC: oh my goodness! I couldn't remember Aurum's nationality, but I seemed to remember him as being a brown haired and...well not asian XD Kick me if I'm wrong and I can fix this. ^^))
Ghost wiggled in excitement. She would have to come back to this location to try something super extra awesomely exciting next time. For now, she was sticking with something safe. Something authentic, recommended by the cute waitress/hostess, and safe. She hadn't been super keen on being really adventurous lately. Maybe it was her recent evisceration, but even eating noodles was sometimes a brave things for her.
"Do you have a vegetarian Pad Thai?" Tofu and crisp green snap peas sounded just as wonderful as chicken or some other animal protein and since Sebastian couldn't eat meat, and it was quite obvious one could survive without it, Ghost figured she ought to start trying a little bit of vegetable eating herself.
It would be good for her. And Sebastian would never ask it of her, but she didn't want to put anything inside her body that might bother him. What if she had chicken breath and it made him feel icky or something of the like? It was a harmless experiment to try being a vegetarian for a week or so. It would give her perspective either way.

>>“I’ve never had anyone research our food before coming,” the waitress stated, her voice still full of mirth. “At least that I know of anyway.”
Shin beamed. "Well, ya know. I just--" He trailed off as Aurum ruffled his hair and gave him a look that said 'can it'. Shin took it to mean 'too much bragging was bad for one's health.' He settled for taking a sip of his water as the waitress's silence spoke volumes.
After a moment of inner-debate, the girl looked to Shin with a question.
>>“Hey…if you don’t mind me asking…um, where are you from?”
"Kyoto," Shin replied, slightly taken aback. “Something up?”
Aurum tilted his head at Ghost’s order. “Going vegan on us?” He smirked. “My family’s been experimenting with tofu as of late. If you wanted, I could help you with some nice recipes to spice the bean curd up.”
