The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Aris looked above her one more time as she continued her search for a gas station of some sort, but the figure she had glimpsed on the rooftops seemed to have vanished. She sighed and rubbed her tired eyes, deciding that the figure may have just been a figment of her over tired imagination and even if it wasn't she was just too exhausted to care anymore. Would this day never end?
Aris trudged on for several more minutes, inwardly thankful that it was so late and there were so few people about. Normaly she could deal with the anti-mutant sentiments that tended to follow her around, after all, in a way she chose to look how she did. So what if circumstances had forced her to make difficult decisions, they were still decisions which was more than many mutants got. She always tried to keep that in mind, but she just didn't have the patience for it tonight.
Finally Aris managed to spot exactly what she was looking for: a gas station. It was light a golden ray of sunlight to her right at that moment. Aris picked up her pace. Entering the building Aris didn't bother looking around to see who might be in the gas station with her, in truth she didn't really care. All she wanted was to speak to the cashier and hopefully get directions to the nearest cheap motel. Where she could sleep. Ah, glorious sleep.
The man behind the counter was middle aged and balding, slightly overweight. "Excuse me," Aris said politely. In her experience it never hurt to be polite and it often helped. People had enough reasons to judge her, she wasn't about to give them more. "Could you give me directions to the nearest motel?" She waited expectantly for an answer.
The man looked Aris up and down critically, his eyes obviously resting on her electronic eye and her deformed metallic feet. "We don't serve your kind." It was said in a sneering tone, dripping in condescension. Any other day and Aris would have been able to tolerate it and either tried to reason with him or peacefully or quietly left and found another location with someone more tolerant. But not tonight. Her patience was at an end tonight.
Aris violently smashed her left fist down upon the counter, resulting in a loud metallic clang. "Damn you, I can't deal with this tonight! Just tell me where the hell I can go to get a decent night's sleep around here and I'll get the hell out of your face!" The volume of her voice escalated with every word spoken.
Aura was walking down the street, looking around at the people who were passing by, it was very late and most of the light came from the nearby street lights. It was another late night, but Aura was happy for the darkness it hid the remains of her work, which still dripped slowly from her right arm. Humans and even some Mutants tended to freak out when people saw fresh blood that was not yours. Running a hand through her unkept brown hair she coinsiderd what to do now, she was not quite ready to head home yet.
Aura recalled this neighborhood well, after she had come back to the city, she had tried to rob a gas station nearby, the owner had never seen her during the altercation as the door had been sealed shut with Ice. Crossing the street quickly she ignored a car, whose tires came to a screeching halt just feet from her, until the driver poked his head out and started yelling. Aura Calmly looked at the man, her pink aura flared up, visable in the man's headlight, he yelled mutant, just as a hammer shape fromed around Aura's fist and came down on the hopod of the car, causing a large dent that also cracked the driver side head light on the car. Aura struck once more as the car peeled out and sped a way, her blow struck the back of the car, crumpeling the trunk a bit. Letting her Aura fade she kept walking realizeing quickly she was only about a hundred yards from her destination.
Walking into the gas station Aura made her way to the back to look at the snack foods she was developing a taste for during her time in the Mansion. As she was sifting through the various types of chips all of which had weird flavors to Aura when she saw a woman enter the building, she could tell from the womans feet and the glimpse she had gotten from her eyes that she wa snot Human, a mutant most likely she figured as she watched, however the man's tone struck a nerve in Aura. Humans should never talk such a way to their superiors, to the rightful heirs to the earth. Using her Aura to cut open a beg of chips she walked to the front counter, surrounded in her Pink aura which was not hardened yet, crucnhing on a few of the chips she put her palm on the counter, the anger in her eyes was very apparent.
In her Anger, Aura made a blade from the aura around her arm and cut through the lottery ticket stand causing the top half to slide away and fall to the ground with a loud thud. "Human's have no matters do they?" she asked with a smile that looked somwhat out of place. "If you need help finding a place to sleep i can aid you thare" she said calmly though her eyes never left the cashier her blade pointed at him. "As for you, keep this up and i'll carve you up like a hamburger and sell you to Human orphans" she said to the cashier, even as she ate a few more chips.

Aris was startled at the appearance of the other woman, obviously a mutant. She had heard there were many mutants in this city, but hadn't expected to meet one so soon after arriving, nor one who was so open about her powers. In her experience any mutants who could hide their powers did. Because of bastards like the cashier; mutant discrimination being far to common. Of course, it seemed like this poor soul was playing a dangerous game, if the reaction of the other woman were any indication.
Aris watched in satisfaction as the cashier cowered, barely coherent in begging the woman not to hurt him. Aris removed the glove from her left hand, displaying her shining bladed metal hand for the cashier to see. She flexed her bladed fingers, threat apparent in her eyes and actions. She wasn't planning on actually hurting him, but it just didn't seem fair that the other woman have all the fun. She grinned to the woman, trying to express the satisfaction she took in being able to do what she could do. Aris wrinkled her nose, smelling urine as the human wet himself.
"If you can find me a place, I would appreciate that," Aris said smiling at the woman. "I just got here and it seems the natives aren't too friendly." She grinned at the woman and turned her head back to the human as he gibbered and cried helplessly. "I'm Aris, sometimes known as Meld." She extended her flesh and blood right hand to the other woman.
"If i ever hear you disrespect a Mutant again, your worst fears won't be able to imagine what i will do to you" Aura said her voice was flat and cold as she looked at the obviously terrafied cashier. Aura's anger subsided slightly when she saw the other Mutnats powers, It was always beauitful to see another Mutants powers and a bit relaxing for her. Once it was clear the Cashier knew she was serous and would not harm them she turned away, waving her hand to the cashier as if he were in animal. "Not even housebroken, this one" she said shaking her head with a laugh.
"The local wild life, can be a bit dangerous, they gave me a simmeler welcome" she said though actually she had been stopped by Mutants and the only Humans she had to worry about were the police who had followed her, opening fire at her the entire way to the Sanctuary doorsteps. Aura took the Other woman's hand. "A good name and a beautiful power, My Name is Aura. As for the place to stay it is a bit of a walk if you don't have a car or somthing, but it is free and whare i live, it's a shelter for Mutants with no Humans almost no humans on the grounds" she said going on, having almost said their were no humans which was not quite acurate, their secratary was in fact Humans, the only one in sanctuary. Aura grabbed a pepsi on the way out looking up at the clouds which now obscured the veiw of the moon, a shame it had been giving such wonderful light. "So what brings you to the cit?" she asked curiously.

Aris laughed at Aura's comment regarding the cashier, her stress at the situation suddenly much dissipated. Amazing the influence of meeting another of her type, who understood the difficulties involved in being a mutant. Well, that and being able to flex her muscle a little bit, figuratively speaking of course, and seeing the reaction in the poor human. It really did do wonders for stress. If she didn't half expect such behavior to get her killed, she'd definitely consider indulging in it more often. As it was, the only opportunity she ever got to indulge her powers was when she was on a job, and lately that hadn't been too often.
"A pleasure to meet you," Aris replied. "Though this is the first time I think anyone's ever called my power 'beautiful'," she said with a slight laugh. Obviously Aura only saw what was directly visible. It would be interesting to see if she'd react in a similar fashion if she knew the whole story. "No car I'm afraid but I'd appreciate the place to stay, especially if its free. Not to mention the opportunity to be among other mutants. In fact, that's kind of why I came to this city. Heard that there might be other mutants around here; that I might find a place to fit in a bit better and maybe some work."
Deciding that there was really no reason to try and remain inconspicious and seeing as how she was desperate for money, Aris jumped behind the cashier's desk with a thunk. She then proceeded to forcibly shove her titanium hand into cash register. It took some doing, but she finally managed to bust it open. There wasn't much cash in there, maybe a few hundred dollars at most, but it would allow her to get by for a little while at least. Jumping back over the desk she offered Aura a portion of her newly acquired cash.
"All mutants powers are beautiful, both those one can see and those we can not. Our powers are out gifts from nature" She replied simply as if it were fact, and to Aura it was. She found all Mutants powers to be beauitful and wonderful. Aura revealed her own powers like she did becuse she beleived a Mutant should be who they were, she hid herself at times to prevent trouble that often arose when police saw her. "That is fine, the walk is only a mile or to, but yes you would meet many Mutants at Sanctuary, I live thare myself, they took me in desbite my accidents" she said making casual conversation, untill her new found freind decided to revisit the petting zoo.
The girl seemed quick and that hand of hers was impressive, she wonderd how it would fare against her Aura. She wonderd if the girl could turn certain parts of her to metal of if somthing else wa sat play. With Mutnats assuming useually got you killed. "A withdrawl i see, i do beleive we should make our way home, becore the plice show" she said waving away the money, offering a gentile smile instead. "Keep it, i have what i need" She went on as she began moving casually a way from the scene, running would make them look guilty and again Aura was happy so few people were out.
"The staff of the sanctuary will ask for you to fill out a few forms, Age, name and power mainly. Some mutants are less able to control their powers and so in case of an accident these things are needed. They will let you stay for as long as you like, and their is free food and areas to train your powers as well. Though some of the residents have somwhat colorful pasts, most are rather freindly" she went on trying to explain whare they were going, she knew many mutants had troubled pasts and so she tried hinting at this. Aura made haste across the street and headed for a nearby alleyway as a shortcut.

Aris appreciated Aura's view of mutant powers. Having had very little contact with mutants in the past, it was not something she had spent a great deal of time considering. She certainly appreciated her own power, though that had taken some time, but beautiful was not exactly the word that came to her mind to describe it. She had to admit, however, that there was a certain beauty in the other woman's power. She absently wondered if her new friend could make anything other than the blade and how the blade would would compare to her flesh melds in a fight.
"A withdrawl i see, i do beleive we should make our way home, becore the plice show" Aris shrugged and casually pocketed the money. After carefully replacing her glove, ensuring she didn't accidentally nick herself with her razor sharp blades, she followed the other woman, agreeing that cops were about the last thing that they needed right at the moment. She had had her share of run ins with them during her past and prferred not to have another one any time soon.
Aris nodded as Aura explained the ins and outs of Sanctuary. The more she heard the more curious she was about the place. Not only a place for mutants, but they helped in the training of powers as well? That certainly held some appeal, though she wondered if there was anyone with powers similar enough to hers to be able to help her control them better. Not that control was the issue, exactly, more that she wanted to learn how to do more and better things with her powers. How many others were able shape themselves into the exact image and capabilities they desired?
"It sounds almost too good to be true," Aris said finally. "What's the catch?" Almost as an afterthought she added, "do they have a metal working facility?"
As she made her way through the back alleys her eyes watched around them. Alleyways had a strange way of being dangerous only in times of need. Still she was confident she could handle anything that came their way, and this woman she had found seemed quite capable of taking care of herself, she seemed a bit prone to violence which suited Aura just fine. "My own Power allows me to manipulate the aura around my body into a solid mass and shape that mass into various weapons for use in combat" she said explaing a bit about her power she realized how the sanctuary sounded at first and wondered if the mansion residents had this same issue.
"It sounded that way to me to, but so far i have been asked for and to do nothing, in fact i have barely met the people in management. I have not seen a metal working facility, but the Sanctuary does seem to get quite a few Robots to train with which are made of metal and so maybe you could ask on where their made " she responded to the girls questions about the sanctuary. She was the second mutant to ask her such a question and she was never quite sure how to properly respond to it. It was true that sanctuary litterly required nothing from it's residents beyond a few forms. Still most mutants were worried about deals that seemed to good to be true. "I have only my word to assure you their is no catch but you can leave sanctuary whenever you like weather that be in a day or in a year or longer" She went on trying to assure the woman.
"So if i can ask what is your power? It is ok if you would like to keep that private i'm just curious i love seeing how different Mutant powers work." she went on looking around as they exited their alleyway onto a street which, had no one on it beside an old bagger with a brown beg he kept drinking out of. Aura's power became visible surrounding her body ina soft pink light, though it was not hardened yet, she just wanted to be ready in case something did happen.

Aris mostly listened quietly as Aura explained about Sanctuary and her own power, also making sure to keep a careful watch about her. Night was her favorite time for a number of reasons, not the least of which was the fact that she could see better than any normal human and most mutants. The eye she had put in really had done wonders, despite the fact that it wasn't quite perfected yet. Eventually another attempt would be in order, but not just yet, she had more important priorities to take care of first.
The specifics of Aura's power sounded both fascinating and incredibly useful in a conflict. Both offense and defense in one neat little mutant package. Aris nodded her head, considering. "I would love to be able to spar with you," she said with a bit of a glimmer in her eye. It had been a long time since she had had a good sparring partner. Something about mutants not being allowed at her former dojo because it was 'unfair to the other students'. True, maybe, but still crap. Something about the way Aura carried herself and the way she moved, told her that she probably knew how to handle herself in a fight.
Aris still wasn't quite sure what to make of Sanctuary but decided to stave off judgments until she had actually arrived there, which she hoped would be soon. Why someone would make such an organization and ask for nothing in return was beyond her, but Aura seemed to appreciate it and for now that was enough. If it turned out to be other than how it was presented Aris could always leave. At least she hoped that was the case.
Aris grinned a little sadistically at the question regarding her power. "Think of me as a freakish mutant cyborg Frankenstein. I sculpt, usually from metal but it could be from anything, modification to add to myself," she gestured towards her feet, "then I cut off the limb or body part in question and meld with it." She waited for Aura's reaction. This would certainly let her know how squeamish the woman was.
Aura could only smile at the idea of a new sparing partner, she liked to train and trainign against live targets with mutant powers of their own made it much more intresting and fun then just fighting the robots day in and day out. One had to keep themselfs dealing with ever changeing situation to prepare for surprises. "I would love to, the robots do get a bit boring after some time and i enjoy the experince" She replied looking back at her new found freind.
As they made her way through the towns alleyways they soon came to a large pair of golden doors. The hallmark of the Sanctuary, the sprawling mansion. "This is the place, it will likely be quite now, as it's late but their are some night time residents as well" she said moving on with a nod and stopping at the entrence to the mansion. She did not want to move on untill her freind was ready. "The last of the Humans were actually sent a way to other shelters, to ensure a mutant only envirment whare mutants could feel safe" she said trying to explain what she could without being overwhelming.
"You must have quite the endurence for pain then, Does the meld take long to take effect. it seems like blood loss could be an issue with that" she said tilting her head as she thought about what the woman had told her, more facinated then anything. "So you removed your eye as well then?" she asked curiously, figuring the girl would of had to of done so. "Sorry to ask so many questions but i have never heard of a power quite like yours, is their any reason you have not done more modifacations?" she said realizeing the woman wa slikely not at sanctuary for training purposes. Aura ahd to wonder how the girl first relaized she could do this though, it seemed a strange power to simply trigger on it's own. Then as if only now hearing the first part she replied to it. "Frankenstein? Cyborg?" she said looking very confused before shrugging and assuming it was a refrence to the grafts somhow.
"Their are a number of free rooms, you can take, but they all look about the same anyway" she said, sweeping some hair out of her face. "If you ever need help adding to yourself, i can aide you, My Blades can cut very precisely as long as i know whare to strike, and over the years i have learned how to cut whare the the bones come together for the best effect" she said offering her service, much like one would offer the use of a car. A shse reached the Doors she opened them revealing the large interior of the Sanctuary. "Welcome to our home, Sanctuary" she said stretching a bit as she did.
