The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Zahira frowned slightly to herself as she quickly and quietly headed toward the Living Room. She hadn't been able to sleep lately, cause of nightmares, of the past that she really didn't want to be brought of up now or ever, or have to deal with it. She didn't' like being reminded of what she had done. She had to admit it was different then living on her own, and with all the annoying questions she was getting asked. Where she came from? Where she lived? What age she was? What were her hobbies? And the most annoying question was her powers. It seemed like no one could take the hint that she didn't want to tell them her deadly powers, or anything about herself. She didn't want to get close to them, just in case something happened. They or herself did something. If she did. What would happen? Would they call her a murderer? Even though she was, no one would know it... well only three people knew. Two had watched as she had used her powers on another man that had attacked them, and would of used them again on the man that had used his toy soldiers to attack them, while she had been hit by the stray bullets... but she let the man live... and she still didn't understand why she had let him live? Maybe to prove that she wasn't a murderer? Or maybe to make amends for those she did commit unknowingly as a child? The last one knew she was a murderer, although he didn't know how many people she killed, he knew that she was indeed a murderer. But after that failed kiss attempt, she had yelled at him, pushed him away and ran. She hadn't seen the male with the crystallized arm since. It had taken all her courage just to come here. And now she was staying here at the mansion.
Another thing that inked her was that they weren't giving her time to adjust either, much to her annoyance, paranoia and insecurity. Zahira had only been here about a day or two, and it seemed everyone was hyped up about a new student being here. Although she didn't know any of them personally, she didn't really know if she wanted to. So the only people she knew here, were Dominic, Shawn and Sam, and Cammie, but that was it. She wasn't going to start up the classes part until she was fully adjusted to being here. Even if that meant dealing with large crowds and crowdedness and tight spaces and dealing with being brushed up against and touched, when she didn't like it.
Zahira shook her head and sighed quietly to herself, as she poked her head into the living room, seeing no-one around, she figured she might as well try and relax, it was still early after all, only around 7:00 Am maybe? Or was it later? Oh well, she didn't really care at the moment. The 17 year old pulled at her gloves, and pulled the long glove sleeves up to shoulders. Yes she was being extra careful, even though her long black shirt sleeves covered her arms all the way up to her wrists, even with the hot hoodie that covered her black shirt, and went down to her knees, it was that big, even though she had her black jeans that covered her legs, that went over her black knee-length socks that also covered her black combat boots. The hood to her black hoodie was pulled up, to cover her hair and shadow her face, even though she was wearing a balaclava, to cover her face, the cloth covered all but her odd colored eyes, she was even wearing her black cloak, that went down to her ankles. Why so precautions? Maybe it was just her... then again maybe she was overreacting, but she really didn't care what they thought of her, if they knew her powers, they'd understand. Or maybe they wouldn't.
Still she was being extra careful, despite the warm weather. Despite that this was making her seem shady and evil. Perhaps she was just paranoid. Too paranoid. She had never been like this before or at her apartment or when she went out... maybe she just didn't want to take any chances of harming a student or resident or a teacher or a pet.
Zahira shook her head, as she let her eyes dart around the room, to every shadow, before she made her way quietly toward the couch and sat down tensely on the very end of the cousin, not even allowing or trying to get her body to relax from its tense and ready to fight or flight position. "It's for their own protection... and for my sanity..." She whispered quietly to herself, pretty sure she had nothing to worry about, and she would be able to get a gut feeling if someone tried to sneak up on her or if a person came in the room, she was sure she'd be able to hear them if someone did come in to the living room. She at least hoped she would, she didn't want to make a bad impression... again...
Zahira smiled attentively to herself under her mask, as she reached forward and grabbed the remote to scan the channels to see if anything good was on. She kept switching though the channels trying to figure out which channels her favorite shows were on, cause the cable was different for here then it was for the ones back at the hotels she's stayed at before.
Mimic had just recently moved into the Mansion and he hadn’t met anyone yet. He merely stayed in his room except for meals and for the occasional trial. However the few interactions that he did have were with young teenagers. The downside of living in a school was that most other residents were much younger than him apart from a few.
He had been considering applying for a teaching job at the mansion, maybe Law 101 or something along those lines as he felt that he lived there for free and he should give something back. There ought to be some aspiring lawyers among these young mutants and Law is actually a very looked after specialty.
That particular night, Mimic had been having a hard time sleeping due to his latest vigilante work which had messed up his sleep patterns. Now the he was living in a manor filled with mutants he had a wide variety of powers to choose from before going on his rounds without anyone noticing what he had been doing.
Out of boredom he decided to go down to the Living room to pass the time.
He saw a figure sitting in the coach watching TV. Rick approached the person slowly and tapped her in the shoulder.
‘’Hey there.’’ He said as he went around the couch to sit beside this person. As he did this he realized that it was a young girl wearing a hoodie and a mask for some reason. Maybe she had some kind of physical mutation that made her uncomfortable. ‘’My name´s Rick. Who might you be?’’
Mimic asked as politely as he could avoiding to look at anything but at her eyes which had a strange yet pretty colour.
Zahira had heard him, the male that had approached yet... even though she heard him, she didn't exspect him to tap her on the shoulder, which had caused her to freeze up, and whip her head around to see her many lays of clothing and to make sure her skin wasn't showing. A nasty habit. The teenager snapped her eyes toward the male, who was older then her, but how much, she didn't know, and didn't really want to know. "Umm Hello..." She said as she shifted away from Rick, putting some distance between them. Another precaution.
"Nice to meet you.... I'm Zahira, Zahira Night...." She said trying to not make her voice sound tight and forced, as she didn't let her body relax, as she turned off the TV, seeing as nothing was on, and someone was talking to her and she didn't want to seem rude either. She put the remote back on the table and looked at the male, with her odd colored eyes. She didn't say anything, she didn't really know what to say anyway.
Mimic watched the girl getting increasingly uncomfortable by his presence as if he had some uncurable dissease or maybe she saw herself that way and that way.
’ Pleased to meet you, Zahira.’’ Mimic said as he extended his hand in order to shake Zahira´s in na attempt to seem nice. ‘’ So how long have you been living here? I just moved in a few days ago so I still don´t know many people.’’
He had no idea on how to talk to this girl she just seemed so scared and fragile for some reason Mimic could relate as he remembered the time when he was scared of what his powers could do. Thankfully he was now able to control to some degree, which powers he mimicked altough it was still very raw control-wise.
Zahira nodded to him and what he had said. She knew he was just trying to be friendly or something, but she made no move to shake his hand, in fact she just stared at it. "Sorry, don't' take this wrong way or anything, but I don't like shaking hands... cause of what I can do..." She said calmly as she tired to explain the lack of contact she was going to give him.
Zahira blinked at him. He was a nice man, she'd give him that, but at least he wasn't asking personal questions like other people did. "I've been here for a day, I got here yesterday morning, but I stayed in my room and explored the mansion last night. So I've been up a few hours. But so far, its nice.... I guess...." She said shaking her head slightly. "As for knowing people. I only knew a few, and those few would be Sam and Dominic and Streak, and a few others outside of the mansion, two are from the sanctuary, and the other two are other mutants that are living on their own. But as for the people here.... I don't know anyone besides Dominic, Sam, Streak and yourself." She said calmly.
Mimic smiled at Zahira to showe that he wasn´t bothered by her refusal to shake his hand. In fact he had met many mutants who shared her discomfort with physichal contact due to their mutantions.
‘’ Well that´s more people than I myself know around here. I only moved into New York two months ago and I haven´t met that many people. Only Vega, who sorta gave me my room here, and some guy who could change air atoms and my clients if course… Can´t recall his name tough.’’ Mimic said struggling to remember the young man he had met in the park but he just didn´t come to him.
‘’ What is it?’’ he asked intrigued about what made this girl so scared of her powers that she refused to touch anyone. ‘’ What do you do? I’m sorry if it´s too personal but it really is intriging me’’
Zahira nodded to what he had said. "That's understandable and interesting. I've been living in New York for a bit over 4 months. And I never really left my apartment, unless it was for school or to take a walk at night." She said. "That's interesting, that you've met people like that." She said calmly.
She frowned beneath her mask when he asked. Why wouldn't that come up? It always did. She smiled slightly beneath her mask. She looked at him calmly. "Tell me what yours is first... I need to find something to demonstrate on without anyone getting mad about it." Zahira said as she shook her head, before walking over to potted plant and pulling off one of the many leaves that the plant had before walking back toward him, ready to to know what his powers could do.
Mimic grinned at the girl´s suggestion. There was no way for him to show her his powers as he had no mimicked any powers lately and he wasn´t going to mimic hers without knowing what they do.
‘’Well, I was tought good manners in my youth… So, ladies first.’’ He said smirking politely at the girl hoping she would comply. She grabbed a leaf off of a plant on the living room explaining that she needed something that wouldn´t make peole mad if she used her powers on it.
Zahira looked at him with a raised eyebrow. "If your a mimicrer of powers, don't mimic mine... You'll hurt yourself or end up killing someone..." She said seriously, the uneasyness was out of her voice to become very serious.
Zahira hesitated for a few moments. Frowning under her mask. Before she took off her right glove with her teeth, and then put the leave in between her thumb and middle finger, while her other fingers remained curled up. The leave didn't even have to wait five minutes cause it was so small. The leave just turned a crunchy brown and then it turned black and fell apart and drifted to the floor. Zahira backed up as she pulled up her the sleeves on her many layers of clothing.and put her glove back on, pulling it up to her shoulder and then pulliong down her long sleeved shirt, then her hoodie then her cloak.
She shifted from foot to foot, and didn't meet his gaze. "I can kill other things besides plants trees, flowers, grass, to animals, humans and gifteds..." She said quietly. "There's a timelimit of five minutes for trees, animals, humans and gifteds..." She added as she backed up from him, a good distance away. "Now... What are your powers?" She asked.
