The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Once the appropriate team had been assembled, Ghost brought up a scenario in the Danger Room. The walls melted and formed into a typically busy New York street, though everything was frozen in time, devoid of motion.
"The scenario is as follows." Ghost tried to remain as neutral as possible in voice and tone so that she would give nothing away. She'd actually practiced giving the introduction to her bathroom mirror once or twice just for good measure. It wouldn't do to give the trainee's a poor presentation. "The trolley you see here is careening out of control. The brake lines have been cut and on board are several people, all in danger. Also in danger is the mother you see down the street, who has gotten her child's stroller wheel caught in the trolley track."
The scene reflected exactly what she said. The trolley, caught in mid-bounce, was headed straight for a woman who seemed oblivious to the situation as a whole. She was leaning over the stroller attempting to dislodge the stuck wheel. The streets around them also seemed mostly oblivious to this danger and life was, despite being frozen in time, continuing on as normal.
Cars sandwiched the trolley as close as, and perhaps closer than, they were allowed. Despite the fact that the trolley could possibly diverge onto another track and miss the mother and child, the trolley would most certainly collide with any number of the other vehicles around.
"It is inevitable that people will be hurt in this scenario, but the who is is up to you three. I will give you thirty seconds to observe the scene, more time than you would have in reality, before I press play on the scenario and you will have to act on your decisions. Remember that as a team, you will be more effective than as a single person."
She looked at each person in turn to make sure that they understood everything before speaking again. "Your time begins now. After thirty seconds has passed a buzzer will sound and the scene will automatically begin whether you are ready or not. Try not to be in the path of a car or something. I'd hate for anyone to be accidentally run over just because I didn't warn you."
((OOC: Okay, here is how this will run. You will each have one round of posts to observe, as soon as the second round begins so will the action. Feel free to add descriptions of the exact scene as you see fit. If you have any additional questions feel free to PM me. Good luck!))

As quick as Ghost had explained it, Shin was already contemplating the mental geometry. It reminded him of another danger room session, really. When they'd first interviewed Alexandra Kettler. She'd been given the task of helping an old woman cross the street, while avoiding traffic. The path of least resistance then had been a sloping movement of metal underfoot that rolled the old lady, cart and all, to the other side of the street. Rather than face the oncoming traffic or roughly move the old lady, Alexandra had moved the ground under the woman's feet. The same premise could work well here.
A simple shard bridge over the woman and carriage could carry the trolley up and over. The transition might be rough. He'd have to slip some shards down to form the lines of the tracks while he was at it. Visually, he judged the distance between wheels, and the spacing of the tracks. Shin held his chin. "Hmm... definitely a possibility." And then there were David and Tythan in the mix. Hazel eyes bobbed over to the two boys, patiently gauging their reactions. His way was certainly a possibility, but what would they come up with? He'd studied both of their profiles. Shin already had several ideas of what they could potentially do in this scenario. The point of this entire day, though, was to see if they saw similar potential.
He said nothing. Just waited. This was their tryout, not his.

Tythan's first thought was of relief as he realized that in this session, there weren't any gorilla boys. After that session with Dom and CS, this seemed a whole lot easier. His second thought was that there should be music in the background, and immediately his mind started playing Flight of the Bumblebee on his mental keyboard. His third thought was that if he didn't actually start considering the situation, by the time the 30 seconds was up, he'd still be standing there with a blank stare on his face.
By his fourth thought, he actually began thinking. Ok, so i can tell by Shin's face that he's already pretty much sized up the situation. Me though. What can i do. It's not like i can stop the trolley by merging with it. At least not without killing myself in the process. Even if we get the trolley to pass the lady without hitting her, the main problem is stopping the trolley before it runs into something else.
No matter what, someone on the trolley's going to get hurt.
But what can i do?
He vaguely considered merging with the trolley again to somehow fix the brakelines, and merging with the ground and increasing its friction somehow. However he doubted he could perform either of these tasks and relegated them to worst case scenario.
He had heard that david could connect to the internet through his mind, and only vaguely understood Shin's. So it all came down to thinking of what he could do and improvising with the others once things started.
In the end he gave up thinking about it. He'd do what he could, he'd improvise [something he tended to excel at in stressful situations], and in the end, just hope that it would work out.
David listened intently to Ghost as she described the situation, he was getting nervous. He tried to hide it of course, taking deep breathes, quickly calculating the different possibilities and what he could do with his own power. "There is no such thing as a no-win scenario" he told himself as Ghost described the situation. He knew he couldn't stop or move the trolley, it just wasn't in his abilities. So that was taken out of the equation. Shin probably had the best chance when it came to that, though David didn't know what the other guy could do.
The buzzer went off, time was running out, "Shin I'm sure you have a plan for the lady." He said as he looked down the street, noting the street lights. "I think I can handle the cars." He wiped his sweaty hands on his pants and sat down cross legged. Tythan I don't know your power, but I hope you can at least slow down that trolley. The timer was almost up, and David prepared to enter the digital realm, he would have to be quick, let's just hope these drivers could follow the rules of the road.

David could handle the cars? Well, okay. Shin couldn't help but note the traffic lights up ahead that had caught David's eye. Yes... stopping traffic would be good. If people on-board the trolley weren't hurt, there was still the potential that people on the street would be. And then there were the cars on either side of the trolley that were far-too close... he shifted his attention left to eye an old yellow car with the Union flag on its hood. The General Rode again... David would have his hands full with what he was doing, that was for sure. A passing thought struck Shin that David could always hack the Danger Room program itself, and change the nature of this reality... but he cast that aside quickly with a shake of his head.
That was cheating
As for the brakes... "The lines are cut. We won't be able to do much to slow the trolley down by using the brakes. Maybe we could fatten up the metal bars by fusing with them? Or tighten the things keeping the wheels in place..." He looked at Tythan with a question in his heart. But that might be too difficult for the boy, Shin castigated himself. He searched the air above his head for further ideas. “There are always speed bumps and blockades. If we cleared all the people in the trolley to the back, I could stop the trolley… oh, hold on.”
He stepped forward to the front of the vehicle, raising his hands like a conductor. Blue triangles rose on all sides of the vehicle, then shot forward to build up a ramp like individual pieces of a puzzle. Tiny ridged tracks stacked on the ramp ahead, forming a track. Shin knit his brow in concentration as the track he was building rose up and over the woman and her baby. His vision swayed. It was a bit more difficult of a distance ahead than he’d thought.
“Tythan, think you could calm the people in the trolley down and get them to the back of the car… I’ve got my hands full here…”

The moment that things started moving again, Tythan charged towards the trolley. No matter what the plan ended up being, he would most likely be in charge of slowing down the trolley itself.
“Tythan, think you could calm the people in the trolley down and get them to the back of the car… I’ve got my hands full here…”
Good. Someone had a plan. Tythan hopped aboard the trolley. Thankfully it was one without a door so he didn't have to waste energy merging through the wall. He stumbled as he landed on the floor of the careening trolley, then stood up and tried to stabilize himself.
"Hello everyone, we're trying to save your lives, so if you would please move towards the back of the trolley, less of you are likely to be injured."
Tythan glanced nervously out the front windshield. Shin was creating a bridge over the woman and child, but the car was going to fast, the bridge wouldn't be finished in time. Apparently, he would have to be the one slowing it down. He had an idea, but wasn't too keen on attempting it. But there wasn't time to think he just had to do it.
"Please do not be alarmed at what i am about to do. I'm a professional." Yeah right "...and don't try this at home.
Tythan took a deep breath, lay on the floor and leaned out the door. As he swung his arm and head down to merge with the wheels. He considered how idiotic this was. But then again, that was what heros did...idiotic stunts that always worked out and always saved the day.
One of Tythan's fingers got caught beneath the front wheel. He winced and cried out in pain, but those cries were converted into the screech of the wheels as the merging with the wheels turned out a success.
He was now blind to the visible world, but could feel the track moving beneath him. He briefly wondered if wheels ever got dizzy, but then drew from any source of energy he could find and shifted the weight of the wheels so that it grated against the ground as much as possible, slowing the trolley down fraction by fraction. He was now terribly grateful for the tracks, and desperately hoped that David could deal with traffic in time.
David sat on the warm pavement, seemingly quiet and content. In reality though his mind felt like a typhoon. He wasn't really hacking into the the cities traffic control, it was just the Danger Room's programming, making things a little easier. He could "see" the traffic patterns and the lights, turning all the lights red around the area, effectively creating a perimeter.
The lights ahead of the trolley were also turned red, this would stop the cars running with the trolley from getting in the way, the only problem with the situation was that David couldn't see what the others were doing. He just had to hope that what he was doing was in conjunction with the others. Then again unless their plan was to slam cars into the trolley to slow it down David's idea was ok.
Once finished David pulled himself back into the world, and the first thing he noticed was the forming ramp of shards, and was a little surprised. He expected Shin to just use the shards and break the wheel of the stroller, effectively freeing the woman and her child. The ramp would slow down the trolley, which was a good thing, he just hoped it slowed it enough so it wouldn't rocket into the sky. That thought led to the realization that their third teammate was not around "He must be on the trolley, lucky him." He thought.

Shin hadn't even considered slowing the trolley car down that way. Cars thrust in front of cars? Pft. Focused as he was, the ever-so-slight slowing of the wheels on the track was a welcomed relief. Efforts pooled collectively against the disaster, and quick as they could, the situation had turned more positive. Something was being done.
The ramp finished forming with a clack. Shin dropped to one knee, eyes locked on the speeding bullet of red and silver. An ad for Danger Room brand coffee blurred on the trolley's side. Every little bit or realism counted so far as the danger room was concerned.
The mother's hands worked realistically at freeing the wheel. She wrenched and wrenched to no avail. Sweat beaded on Shin's brow as he noted it. Maybe it'd have been easier clearing her off the tracks after all? A single spike of green triangle drifted casually to work at the wheel. A jab, a thrust, it levered the wheel up and away from track with a seesawing fulcrum motion. The mother didn’t notice the helping hand. All she noticed was that suddenly, her baby’s carriage wheel had been freed.
She rolled away from the tracks, content in freedom.

Tythan continued to pour every bit of strength into slowing down the trolley. He didn't know exactly how he was doing it, but the point was, it was happening. The wheels...he...turned round and round as the trolley continued to shoot down the road. He felt the shard bridge beneath him go up, and then down...slowing down more, than speeding up some again. As the wheels continued in there incessant turning, Tythan wondered briefly if wheels ever got dizzy. Of course he quickly dismissed it. Why did he always have such random thoughts. The trolley was definitely slower, but it was hardly slow enough to avert danger. This thought was punctuated as a shudder ran through the framework. A car or something had hit the side. And tythan himself could only hold on so long before he'd have to demerge.
I just hope they figure something out because there's not much more i can do... especially since this trolley's going down hill. And even if wheel's don't get dizzy or motion sick...I DO!
David felt helpless, he did what he could, the traffic was out of the equation, but the trolley was still out of control. He could only sit and watch as the metal missile went up and over Shins hill of shards. He started running down the hill, trying to get as close as he could, thanks to Shin's hill the trolley slowed enough for David to get a little closer, but the hill was causing it to pick up speed. As long as it was rolling like that they were in danger. "Hey Shin, what if you tried placing Shards in wheels or the track, they might cause it to come to a stop." He didn't mention that fact that it would be a fairly violent stop, it might even cause the trolley to fall onto it's side, but the people inside would be alive.

"Please." Shin muttered with a grunt as he pushed off one knee, rising to his feet. He brushed a stray hair from his vision, then raised both hands to grab at the air. The shard bridge tore apart as the trolley rolled off its edge. For a moment, the triangles hung hazily in the air, turning like pinwheels. Then Shin broke into a run.
Fist in front of fist, arm in front of arm. One foot in front of the other, he ran. If his face looked any paler than usual, that was acceptable. The weight of the trolley had been a bit more than he'd expected. He was lightheaded. A bit woozy, actually. And winded.
But.
That wouldn't stop him from finishing the mission they'd set out to do. David had done his part, just as Shin had expected, and Tythan was pulling more than his weight. Shin had to work hard for both of them, and pull his own. As he ran, the shards followed. They sailed over concrete and traffic like a fleet of paper airplanes. At Shin's command, they fired forward to rearrange themselves in front of the trolley. He formed three walls of shards, 6 feet high, 2 inches thick. Two of the walls shot forward, pinning the trolley between them like a trash compacter while the third struck out in front, bracing against the ground to slow the trolley as much as it could towards a stop.
Shin took a heavy breath, eyes keeping up with the machine. This was... more difficult than he'd thought. Really. He was sure he'd have a pounding headache after this was done. But as he poured on more and more shards, building a barricade in front of the trolley, Shin could only think one thought.
It'd be a rewarding one.
The barricade rose upwards in a rough ramp. Hopefully, the speed of the trolley would be slowed by the work of the group and the incline. Hopefully, it wouldn't shoot off the steep ramp into the street... and hopefully, the driver had taken his feet off the gas, and people had moved to the back.
That was too many hopefullys. Shin would have to practice leading a bit more after this.

One thing that Tythan had begun to realize was that when in a merged form, his senses were altered. Depending on the object, he usually could not see or hear, but his feeling was enhanced so far that he could "see" and "hear" through vibrations in the air or in this case in the ground. So he was able to pick up some of what David said amidst the screeching of wheels and the screaming of the passengers.
"Hey Shin, what if you tried placing Shards in wheels or the track, they might cause it to come to a stop."
Tythan had to admit, it was a pretty good idea, he just hoped that shin went with putting shards on the track in someway that wouldn't damage the wheels too much. He knew that just from all the grating he'd be scraped up enough when he demerged.
Apparently Shin did decide on something on the track. Something sidled up against both ends of the trolley, and it began to slow much more. Beneath him Tythan felt another ramp. He considered demerging now, if something else was slowing it down, he was done. But then hefigured that once it came to a stop it would need to stabilize. He was growing weary, but he figured he could last a little longer.
The trolley crashed into something and then it hit the ground with a jolt, but it had stopped moving. Amidst the continued screams of passengers, Tythan noticed that the trolley was wobbling. He poured all of his energy into grounding the trolley through the wheels. The wobbling grew less, and Tythan stumbled out of the wheels, battered and bruised and scraped, but nothing serious.
"Nice work guys. Now if you don't mind, i'm going to sit down for a while."
He stumbled dizzily to the sidewalk found a bench, and collapsed onto it with a sigh.
[OOC: Sorry i took it so far, it's just that i'm leaving for a week on thursday. So i f i don't get a chance to post again, you guys can finish it up without me.]
David was trying to catch up to the trolley, which was now being thrown up by the new ramp Shin had created. He was able to finally catch up by the time it stopped, and saw as their third member came stumbling out "Was wondering where he was" David thought as he watched him dizzily find a bench and rest up. He didn't know what his power was, but whatever it was it must've been a bit crazy using it in the trolley.
He walked over to the trolley and climbed in, peeking down from the front at the frightened people. After a few moments of scanning the group he threw his arms up in triumph "Woooo" He yelled in triumph "We win!" The people simply stared at him as if he was crazy "Uhh, you're all safe." He jumped out of the trolley, a big grin still on his face "Hey Ghost we finished your test."
The trolley continued up the ramp until its momentum came to a stop and it rolled almost lazily back down the ramp to settle onto the track. David and Tythan came out celebrating and even Ghost was smiling.
"You guys did a very good job. Great teamwork and... Shin?" Ghost turned around and shut the scenario off and grabbed three towels. She tossed one towel to Tythan and one to David. The sounds of the city stopped and the walls were trickling back into boring metallic grey once again as Ghost pattered over to her friend's side.
"Shin. Your nose is bleeding." She held out the towel to Shin before taking hold of his arm at the elbow. "Infirmary for you. I know it's silly coming from me, but you'll have to learn your limits, Shin."
To everyone else, "Dismissed. You did awesome. Really.I'm 100% satisfied and you can tell that to Sam."

"My... wha?" Shin brought his hand up to clomp down on his nose, then pulled it away. What he saw made him lightheaded. Blood, indeed."Er... I... swear, that's never happened to me before! Guess I'll have to bulk up a bit more, then..."
Weight of trolley... not good for head. Not good for shards, either. And high speeds...
Learning limits... right. Limits were meant to be exceeded, overcome. Which he'd do. Redoubling training! That was already quadrupled!! He wobbled as Ghost took him by the elbow, and let her lead him out the door. As he made his exit, he waved at David and Tythan. "You did great, kiddos. Really great! ... Don't follow my example..."
More wobbling. And leaning. Had he really gotten a nosebleed from his own power?
