The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The file folder felt heavy in Shin's hand. In it were the names of students being considered for X-men trainee status. All of them were good, some of them were young, and some of them... he set the folder down on his lap again with a sigh. It still nagged at him, the worry and the memory. Maybe he was being overprotective...? If anything ever happened to Kasumi... he didn't know what he'd do. He'd do anything and everything to prevent that from happening, yet this put her in harm's way, and... The back of the chair tilted back as Shin clasped his fingers behind his head with a sigh.
"Tooooo complicated." Maybe he'd just ask her again. He knew he'd told Sam he was cool with it, that he knew Kasumi wanted this with all her heart... but it'd be best finding out from the source. And if she still wanted to become and X-men, Shin would have to make sure she was ready for all the dangers that entailed. Shin pulled his cellphone from his pocket and dialed up Kasumi. "Hey Kasumi, can you come down to the mansion today at 2PM? Meet me in the danger room? Yeah. Thanks."
The cellphone snapped shut again. For a moment, Shin stared past it at Sam's desktop. Pens lay end-over-end, like the ultimate outcome of some massive office supply war effort. In their midst, a single yellow #2 pencil lay, on top of the heap. The phone clacked down on the desktop. Lightly, papers folded over as he reopened the file folder to stare at mutant details. He had to be ready, come rain or shine.
~*~
Shine. The danger room just so happened to be sunny. And the walls flowed onwards like a serene countryside, complete with rolling fields of sunflowers and a hedge maze. Shin stood by the door in front of the maze, hands folded in front of him.
He waited. The hands on his watch said 1:56. He'd been there since 1:30, setting up.

Kasumi got ready she put on a black sports bar on over her head. It is good to back in her own body her her own room. She soon slips on her black yoga pants tieing them tight. At last her shoes. She pulls her hair up that is now to her mid back into a tight bun. She gets a duffel bag for anything that she needs. Soon Kasumi smiles this will be her first training for the X-men.
Soon she takes off running she does not want to be late. She runs faster soon she is to the danger room. She walks in as she takes the bag off of her shoulder seeing Shin she smiles more "I am ready when you are." She is on time like always. Kasumi is glowing right now she can not wate. With her sports bar on the scar can be seen form the past attack it is light but it is still there. Yet she is the only one that she see it. There is really no scar there. She will always rember that.
It will drive Kasumi more to become an X-men. She did training on the side before hand also. She can jump and twist in the air. Her leaping is much stronger. She can clime well. She is so much better then she was now she can show it off. She wonders what she is going to be doing today. Whatever she is she is ready for it at last she can do it!

>>"I am ready when you are."
"Good," Shin replied with a wry smile. "Though somehow, I highly doubt you'll be prepared for the many levels of 'awesome' I've dreamed up. First things first, though..." Shin took a few steps towards Kasumi, away from the hedge maze. A strong gust of 'wind' blew past him, causing the sunflowers in the 'field' behind to dance.
"Are you really certain you want this? To become an X-men, I mean... I'd worry about you, Kasumi." Shin's eyes were soft, pleading for the truth. He just needed the truth from her lips once. After that, he'd be ready to move on.

Kasumi looks at Shin with her eyes then she hears him speak as she thinks "Shin I do want this. I want to prove that we are not all bad. I want to help make the world a better place. The scar that would of been on my back. Is form me trying to help a friend trying to save her.. I will never let my guard down again."
Kasumi's eyes shined as she speaks of this. Aura almost killed her that day she will never forget it. It will drive her to do more to train harder. Soon she smiles "Aside form that I have been training on my own. Shin trust me I will never make that mistake again." Her eyes looks down as she shakes her head. She never knew that someone that was her friend almost killed her.
In the past Kasumi can only climb on walls but she can do so much more. Now she can flip and kick in mid air training on her time did her a world of good. She wants to show Shin that he does not need to worrie about her. She wants to show that she can do this part of it is to herself. She has to be part of the team to do good with the world and for the people that is in it.

Shin placed hand to his head with a fabulous sigh, and drew closer. A wry look played at his cheeks. "I see. That's too bad. I'd wanted to protect you from all this, but I understand. After all, I feel the same." He raised his head to look towards the heavens, and spoke proudly. "That's what we have to do, isn't it? Show the world our kind are just as good as any other. To set examples, save a few lives..." His focus dropped to Kasumi's eyes, and he nodded once. "If we're gonna do this, then all I've left to say is this."
He rushed forward to plant a quick kiss on her cheek, then ran backwards into the maze with a wave. "Tag!"
She was it. The maze shifted up around him as Shin stumbled back through the quickly-rising walls of green. The goal of this training session was simple: It was a game of catch. She'd have to navigate the ever-shifting maze of hedge-walls, overcome the various perils. Sandtraps, swinging logs, trap doors, the works. All for the sole purpose of catching up to Shin.
Shin thought it'd be a pretty fun training session, if he didn't say so himself.
Right now, the maze was in its simplest form. The walls towered two stories high, and cast the paths of the hedge maze in a light shadow. Shin had taken the path to the right. Upon entering, there was a fork. From there, the path grew more convoluted. She'd probably be able to scale the walls of brush to get a better view of it all... but that didn't mean that up on top of the world she'd be any safer.
((OOC Note: If you can conceive of a boobytrap to throw into the maze and navigate around, be my guest~))

Looking at Shin with her eyes as she nods softly. She smiles some "Well we have to show that we will not harm anyone eh?" Soon she looks at Shin as she rushes she feels his lips on her cheek as he yells "Tag!" Kasumi smiles as she nods. Oh this is going to be fun. She has not had a game of tag god knows how long.
Kasumi takes off running with a big smile. This is not to bad nothing to put her life in danger well so it seems. She can clime with just her hands now soon she loses sight of Shin man. She climes a hedge KAsumi looks around soon she gets a flash of him ha! Kasumi leaps down landing on her feet as she takes off running soon she hits a stand trap yet she is fast to react she leaps out of it "So there is more to this.."
Kasumi smiles more "This is going to be more fun then I thought.." She runs again she will have to say on her toes she very well knows it. Hidden traps hmm she can not run careless here so she will keep that in mind. Kasumi is not sure were Shin is now. She takes a right then a left looking around resting her hands on her hips "Were is he?" She looks around as she turns "Hm"

Oh, double-bladed swords. How well you cut! While once this idea had been so amazing, so utterly brilliant he had rushed from his seat behind the desk of Sam's office to the danger room's God room to code it in post-haste... now he was worried it might be the sort of code he spelled posthumously. First, with the swinging pendulum blade like a mouse in cat fangs, then the moving wall that shoved him across a pungee pit of spikes... he narrowly avoided becoming a human skewer, thanks to outstretched arms and upper-body strength. Now, Asian shoulder blades were slumped against a wall, hiding, biding, vying for time.
A deep breath displayed the health of 20-something shard-summoning mutants well. Chest, rise, chest fall. Less than five minutes of running, a few death-defying feats of 'save-one's-own-arse', and this was what his current health status showed? Winded after a trice?
It just wouldn’t do. He’d been slacking ever since he’d gotten that cast, hadn’t he? Fewer five mile runs with Thor, more donuts and coffee on-break. You’re slipping, old man. Shin thought to himself. Like a father who couldn’t keep up with their own son in a game of round-ball. Couldn’t make it to the hoop. His left-handed dribble was akin to spittle on the chin of a toddler, and that just wasn’t right! And his spin? Never in.
The ball Did Fall Elsewhere from the hoop.
Shin got to his feet with a pact in-heart. Double the training! No, TRIPLE!! He’d train until he was falling after this… but maybe for the moment, a bit of a respite? He slumped back down against the wall with a head rush.
Oh right. Falling. Eheh~
Maybe he’d practice a bit of what he was practicing a few days prior with Koga…? Riding a platform of shards… Shin hopped to his feet, bracing himself against the bushy green of the hedge as he focused.
Called the image of a simple three-dimensional pane of glass in his mind. Half an inch thick, green, three feet wide and long… yes. That’d work. With a couple layers of shards to contribute to the overall lifting strength… He’d learned an awful lot about strength from his time spent in the body of Abyss. Red giants and their ridiculously overpowered arm muscles made any learning experience wonderful~
~*~
A beautiful blue jay landed with a tweet on the top of one bush on Kasumi’s left. It preened for a moment, sang a little song, and elsewhere behind it a tiny speck rose like a fly over garbage: Shin on his shard-platform had taken flight.
And honestly, the reflection off that shard platform could catch anyone’s eye. Even the blue jay’s, actually.

Kasumi looking around she looks the Blue Jay as she smiles "Hello to you too." Soon she sees the shards. She knows what they are. Her mind soon races as she soon run and leaps doing a twisting jump in the middle of the blades. She smiles as she leans under the shard that Shin is on she blinks a few times "Um did not know I can leap that far..." She kind of scampers up as she looks at Shin "Hey!"
Kasumi beams as she sits there "Kind of did a really long leap things and ended up landing here." She laughs some as she rubs the back of her head. "I stick really good to your shards to let you know." She stands up kissing Shin on the cheek "Tag!" Soon she laps down as she lands on her feet as she smiles. The landings to her is not so hard not also. It seems that all of the training that she has been putting in is doing her good.
Well this is so much fun. She smiles more as she takes off running she jumps over spikes as she smiles more. Her leaping she has a good grasp on this, She shakes her head there has to be something more then what is getting tossed at her. She rolls her shoulders as she looks around. She is down on the ground. She will hid somewere. She knows that Shin is in the air now.

The ground passed underneath Shin's feet like the slides on a film projector. Empty labyrinth slide, empty labyrinth slide, empty labyrinth slide, Kasumi... wait, Kasumi? He blinked at the frog girl as she sprang up onto the bottom of his shard from somewhere far below. That was... unexpected. He nearly fell back as he momentarily lost his balance, but hey. Arms swung to right themselves, and he was fine. Shin smiled at her.
"Hey. Nice trick." He nodded down at her, sitting there on his shard all cute, like Jasmine on Aladdin's flying carpet.
>>"Kind of did a really long leap things and ended up landing here." She laughed and rubbed the back of her head. "I stick really good to your shards to let you know."
"That's good! Wouldn't want you falling-- off." He paused as Kasumi rushed forward to peck him on the cheek.
>>"Tag!" She hopped back down.
He wobbled backwards again as something shifted in the labyrinth below. Balance was still not so good for him on the shards, it seemed. But better than the session with Koga. He'd trained a lot since then.
Shin glanced down, searching the ground for Kasumi's landing spot.
"... Hmm. Nowhere to be seen. Wait. What's..."
The 'something' roared and tore through a wall of the hedge maze near Kasumi. It walked on two bulky legs, with the head of a bull and the body of a man. Rippling muscles, red fireballs for eyes. Steam shot from its nostrils. It looked deranged.
Shin gasped as he shot down towards Kasumi on his shard platform. The minotaur swung its right arm violently-- Shin scooped her up at the last minute! He swept past the minotaur, onwards into the labyrinth. The bullheaded monster ROARED. Shin looked back over his shoulder as he rose to land on the wall of a hedge, then looked at Kasumi.
"Are... are you alright?"
He hadn't programed a minotaur, had he? Inwardly, he sighed. Either his programming skills were a monumental failure, or the danger room had it out for him. As the minotaur stomped towards them, Shin got the feeling it was the latter...

Kasumi is moving soon she hears something "What in the world is that?" She blinks a few times soon the minotaur is seen yet she does not have enough time or room to leap what is she going to do. Her eyes grow wide as she sees it's arm swinging at her. Soon she is in Shin's arms as she holds on to him she breaths again as she looks up at him she nods "I am alright... That thing seems mad... " Soon her mind races as she looks at this best. Kasumi nods she shifts as she sips on her heals.
Soon Kasumi slings a great deal of her poison at the minotaur. Due to how scared she is she does not really hold back sending a great deal of her own blood with the poison. Enough to make her a little weak and enough to slow the minotaur down. Damn she did not use enough!

Slowed down, yes! But raging! Raging!! BLIND WITH RAGE! (Also blind.) The Danger Room works wonders with allowing powers that would not usually work on computer programs... to indeed work on computer programs. The Minotaur rubbed its eyes, stomped a few times, and roared like a kitten. Then it turned towards them, fingers straining towards the slightest sound.
"Mad... right." Shin's brow furrowed in worry. He glanced at Kasumi, remembering from her files that her poison was potent, yet draining. Damn... He shook his head. She'd given her all and exhausted herself, but that thing was still going strong. Stomping, roaring, hissing at the sky.
"How are you now?" He asked. Shards clamped down on his feet like buckles as he steadied them, and rose on the platform.
He lifted his hands, calling up another bevy of shards. He forced them towards the minotaur quickly, a hail of razor-sharp diamond edges!! The beast screamed in pain, drumming his chest as Shin and Kasumi floated away...

Kasumi lets out a few gaps of air never in her life using that much at one time. She still stays on her feet "I am ok." She nods and smiles to Shin. The best is blind. Well that is a good thing it will just attack the air. At the least she did something good. Now the shard attack ow that had to hurt. Even if it was not real that still had to be painful. Kasumi is still standing on her own so that is a good thing. She wonders how the minotaur got here.
She knows that Shin will not do anything to put her into danger so it was not him that was doing this. But what happen? They have trained a lot in the past. She keeps her eyes on the minotaur just in case if something happens. She keeps herself calm she makes sure that she is ready for anything. Every muscle in her body is ready for anything.
Kasumi knows what it is like not to be ready. She will not let her guard down just in case. She knows that it is not real but still she does not care even so it can attack and it can hurt them. She does not want this to end bad. She knows that it will not with Shin with her.

She was okay. That was good. A weight lifted off Shin's back as he floated over the beast, almost gloating.
Swoop, swoop went the hands of groping blindness. The minotaur swung up at them, but Shin was high and out of reach. For the moment, they were safe. But still...
that monster was chasing them. It had been for the last minute. Ever since Shin had floated away, which obviously meant it was stronger than they'd thought, and quickly recovering.
Still blind, but... damn. It crashed through another wall, and Shin glanced back at it.
There were so many ways this simulation could end. It could end with him canceling it. Now, there was an option! But that option was boring, and would end everything too soon. There... was the option they could fight the minotaur, but...
He looked back, firing another storm of shards. The minotaur barreled through it, pained, but unfazed. "Jeez... it acts like an enraged bear... takes shot after shot, but keeps coming. Can't fight that head-on, so... Kasumi. We have to lure it into traps! I'll fly. You direct me. Be my eyes."
He rose higher over the labyrinth to give her a better view. Below, the Minotaur wrestled with a swinging log trap, and tore it from the wall. He swung it like a club.

Kasumi keeping on the shard as she looks back at Shin "I can do that." Soon a smile is on her lips the best just comes. Were to put him a pit trap will work god she hopes so. Almost getting killed by something like that is not her idea of fun. Soon she shakes her head as she looks around seeing something that might work. Soon she speaks "Alright Shin go left!" Her eyes rest on the pit as she looks at it still.
Kasumi runs her tongue down her lips. As she looks at Shin he is always so strong around her. That is why she loves him so much. She could not think of her life with out him. A smile is seen on her lips the beast is maybe raging on but they are in the air and this will be all over soon. It soon dawns on Kasumi that they are doing team work this is a good thing.

"Left!" His shoulders crept forwards. Arms spread into a downwards V as he leaned into the turn. The shard lowered in the air till they were skipping over hedge maze below like a stone across a lake. The beast behind them gave a feral roar and bashed arms against chest. Shin kept up the speed as they jerked left, down a hedge-way and over a spiked pit. They flew over a hedged partition, and lowered downwards.
The shard touched down behind a wall.
Shin slumped down, back pressing against the hedge behind him. His eyes were closed. His face was sweating. This was a lot of work, keeping up both their weights on the shard platform, AND the balance. His legs shifted forwards and spread out in front of him as Shin's body relaxed. The shard platform vanished.
But it wasn't over yet. His eyes snapped open, and he turned, hands cupped around his mouth to amplify his voice.
"Hey, UGLY!!"
With a second roar, the minotaur pounded towards the sound of the voice!! The sound of bushes being ripped from their placement, of logs shattering, and various boobytraps going off, resounded in the maze behind them. Then a sound like 'shunk!'
Silence.
Shin's eyes crept behind him. A trio of shards cut a path through the hedge wall so he could see what had happened.........
Two red eyes stared back at him from beyond the wall.
Shin jumped! "Eep!!"
The minotaur said nothing. Not that minotaurs could talk. Shin's heart pounded in his ears as he took another tenacious peek. ". . . Simulation, end..."
The minotaur was dead. The hedge maze walls faded away like strings of light in the darkness of a rave. Shin held Kasumi close to his chest for a moment, then smiled.
"Good job." Speed, strength, teamwork, and creative thinking... those were what was needed to be an X-men. Kasumi still needed a bit more coaching on how to prevent overexertion, but... "I think I can rest easier now, knowing you're on the team."
