Hair color and style:Brown hair thats moderate length and consistently messy. Eyes:Grey (Shine cobalt when using his powers) Height:6'0" Build:Wide shouldered, and very muscular. Visible mutation: None Scars/ Tattoos/ Piercings: Aleksei has numerous scars, most of which are on his chest, back, and arms. Some are cuts, others are former gunshot wounds. No piercings or tats. Other features: Consistently unshaven
Everyday clothing style:Aleksei is a huge fan of cargo pants and a collared shirt. He also wears jeans and t-shirts. Most of his clothing is darker in tint, and seeing him wearing bright colors is rare. Aleksei really doesn't like dressing up, and seeing him wearing any type of formal attire is a rare occasion. He generally wears hiking boots or even military boots (anything with steel toes), but he *does* own other footwear, contrary to popular belief. Uniform: The closest Aleksei would come to wearing a uniform is camouflage. Sleepwear: Yeah... not so much. He does keep a robe nearby in case he is disturbed. Miscellaneous clothing:Aleksei believes in being prepared, and has clothing and equipment for virtually any climate or situation. This includes cold weather gear, hiking/camping equipment, etc... He also takes after Sarah Conner and keeps an emergency evacuation bag handy in case he must leave in a hurry.
Character
Personality: Aleksei generally has a gruff, nonplussed personality. He has the air of somebody thats grown up too fast and seen too much. He generally uses sarcasm and derision to keep people at a distance. Still, Aleksei has a softer side as well. While fear of loss and a general lack of trust haunts him, Aleksei would really like to find a place to fit in. His aloof exterior and gruff nature make it difficult to befriend him, but once his friendship is gained it is nearly impossible to lose it. Hobbies/ Interests: Oddly enough, Aleksei enjoys woodcarving. (in fact, he has become quite good at it) Aleksei also enjoys studying to make up for his lost school time when he was younger (Though he would never let anybody find out about this as it is a subject of some embarrassment to him). Job or part time job and description: N/A Aleksei is fairly well off from his mercenary work, and is currently unemployed. Fears/ phobias/ concerns: Aleksei has severe claustrophobia, a fear of loss, and worries that he will simply be used as a tool of destruction for the rest of his life. Special talents: Aleksei is a firearms expert (including heavy weapons) and a good driver.
Morality
Good/ bad/ neutral/ other: Aleksei would like to make the world a better place, and he generally believes in the greater good. Despite this, he is jaded enough to realize that isn't how the world runs. This combined outlook makes him tend toward neutral rather than good or evil.
Mutations
Mutation description: Glass control. Aleksei can control glass in about a twenty feet radius around himself. This includes levitation and the ability to throw the glass as well. At his current power level, Aleksei can manipulate around 325 pounds (25 square feet of inch thick glass) at once. While the mental strain of manipulating multiple pieces of glass is not much, it adds up when there is large numbers involved. Because of this, Aleksei will loose control of the glass if he attempts to manipulate too many pieces at once. This fact is exacerbated when the pieces are moving in different directions.
Secondly, Aleksei can make glass into objects. Essentially Aleksei can reshape the glass at his will. This includes hardening it, and making it suitable for very strong, if somewhat brittle weapons. Aleksei can strengthen glass more than is normally possible. He can use this to make simple devices or weapons, including swords, spikes to throw etc. He can also fashion it into a shield to protect himself or others. As a rule of thumb the more complex the object is the longer it takes Aleksei to create it. Also, the larger the object is the weaker it becomes. For example a shield the size of a pie plate would be very strong, but a shield the size of a truck would be very weak. All objects created by Aleksei are permanent assuming that they are not destroyed.
Strengths: Aleksei's main strengths are his offensive capabilities. By levitating and then throwing his objects, Aleksei can be a dangerous ranged fighter. Blocking a glass shard is easy... blocking a few hundred isn't and few things cut better than extremely sharp glass. Aleksei's objects are very light and the smaller ones are quite strong meaning that basic weapons are never far away. Alekseis abilities also allow him to strengthen glass far more than normal production means. On another note, Aleksei makes lovely glassware.
Weaknesses: While Aleksei can strengthen glass far more than the average person, it can still be shattered with enough force. Also, while his glass is incredibly sharp, it does little damage to metal as it can not cut the metal, and it merely shatters rather than doing much kinetic damage. Aleksei has no defenses against psychic attacks.
Secondary Mutation
Mutation description: Aleksei can reform glass into aerogel. Aerogel is a material made of silicon dioxide (same thing as glass) but it has had its liquid component removed. The result is an extremely light product (the lightest solid on earth) that is a terrible conductor (but a great insulator). Aerogel is nearly see through. The only visible part of it is a pale blue smokey effect. The material is extremely brittle and easy to break. Aerogel is also a dessicant as it is extremely dry. After the material is made, Aleksei may control it like glass.
Strengths: Aerogel is an extremely good insulator and is as close as you can get to fireproof. It would also be fairly effective against cold or electricity, although not as much. As a dessicant, it absorbs water although not fast enough to be of any use vs a water mutant.
Weaknesses: Aerogel is extremely brittle and easy to break. Any normal attack would punch holes in it, or cause it to shatter completely. This includes simply throwing a rock hard enough. Aerogel is too light and brittle to be used as a weapon. If Aerogel absorbs enough water, it simply collapses and ceases to be aerogel anymore (it becomes a big wet pile of silicon dioxide)
Fighting Style
Explanation: Aleksei comes from the school of hard knocks. (as in using hard knocks over the head of an opponent is a good idea) Aleksei has had experience in various gangs, mercenary groups and paramilitary organizations giving him a good base of fighting experience. He has mostly taken to heart blunt strategies such as aiming for weak points and using whatever weapons are on hand. Rather than hindering, his blunt approach to combat has made him quite effective. He is also not afraid to use whatever improvised weapons are on hand. He tends to use a lot of tackling and moves designed to take the opponent to the ground. Pros for fighting style: Aleksei's blunt, strait-forward approach and willingness to hit below the belt means that most fights are over before they get started. It also makes him a well rounded and durable fighter. Cons for fighting style: The problems with his style become apparent in long, drawn out fights, where his moves become stale and predictable and all elements of surprise are lost. Additionally, this puts him at a disadvantage to professional fighters who are trained to combat just these types of moves.

History Of Your Character: Aleksei was born in Kharkiv in the Ukraine to an abusive father and a mother that was to busy drinking to care. These facts were only made worse by the early development of his powers, which simply caused his father to dish out more abuse. The early years of his life are events that he hardly cares to remember, let alone talk about. Instead he prefers to leave them buried and likes to think his life started the day he finally had enough and left home for good.
One day when Aleksei had finally had enough, he smashed his way into his fathers safe, stole the money inside and never came back. He caught the buss to Kiev and started his new life. It wasn't long after he had arrived when he became part of a gang. Kiev was a large city, and life on the streets meant being in a gang. As a plus, Aleksei had managed to find somebody who accepted his powers. Instead of finding them unnatural, his newfound friends found them cool. More importantly they found them useful. With Alekseis powers, robbery became a breeze.
Several years, some cash, and a few dozen fights later Aleksei finally left Kiev. Aleksei never did loose his friendship with his gang, instead he had finally gotten tired of the constant robberies, fights and living in rundown apartments. Now he found a new form of excitement with a mercenary group. As a mercenary Aleksei was a natural. The years of robbery and gang-fighting had honed Alekseis powers and fighting talents into a much more usable force. Life as a mercenary continued hardening Aleksei. The missions were much more difficult, and death was everywhere. Realizing that not everybody would be so understanding of his powers, Aleksei was careful to keep them hidden during this time. Still, even with being careful about when he used his powers, Aleksei excelled at his position. After doing so well at his current mercenary job, Aleksei was soon buried in offers from other, more specialized groups.
It wasn't long after he began getting these offers that Aleksei left to take on some of them. These specialized missions, usually one shots, were all around the world. To cope, Aleksei had to learn multiple languages (at least well enough to be workable). Additionally, the pay was fantastic making Aleksei moderately wealthy. These missions took a heavy toll on him, and after the third time waking up in a hospital he started to think long and hard about what he was doing. It took a few months, and he still took on a few more missions, but eventually Aleksei decided to quit. Aleksei feels like he has been in training his whole life, and now he is ready to make a difference.

"Damn cold" He muttered under his breath. The air was frosty, and the lights were dim within the subway station. The dark colors of his clothing caused him to blend into the walls, and the few people that moved through the subway barely registered his existence. Aleksei checked his watch, the dial showing that it was nearly midnight. His target still hadn't arrived, and he had been standing in the same place for hours. Still, the first skill that a mercenary learned was patience. Changing his position, Aleksei reached down into a random pocket in his cargo pants and pulled out a granola bar. Just as he was about to bite down, his target appeared. "Never fails..." He mumbled before tossing the granola bar into a nearby trash can.
Alekseis target was a tall, but otherwise unremarkable man dressed in a suit and tie. Aleksei waited until he had almost made it to the train, and then he pulled the fire alarm. The few people still inside of the subway quickly dispersed, heading for the exit. All of the people except for his target of course, instead he turned around looking for the source of the alarm.
Upon catching sight of Aleksei, the man started walking towards him. "So, you are the assassin they sent for me? You aren't much to look at..."
Aleksei stared the man down for a minute before speaking. "There is only one reason that you even know who is going to kill you. Your brother sends his regards."
At the revelation the mans face went white. "My brother? It was him!?!? But why?"
Aleksei simply shook his head. "Question times over buddy." Reaching into his jacket, he drew a large glass sword. "Time to end this." He began walking forward, and then was suddenly hurled backwards by a strong psychic force.
"My brother doesn't know everything about me..." Suddenly the targets face was grinning. "And by the look on your face, you didn't know that either."
"Well now," Aleksei responded. "Looks like this night is going to be interesting after all."

Ooh! Glass manipulation got you high fives, but aerogel gives you props. I haven't seen any mutant tap into the useful properties of aerogel yet. Very original.
I was actually explaining what aerogel was to a friend the other day when inspiration struck. Now, so long as it doesn't rain the instant I try to use the power....
