The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The summer had been busy so far, and Jenni had been working almost constantly. Sure, a lot of it was stuff she had added to her own workload, but Jenni was alright with that; hopefully it would be all worth it in the long run and it would not only help the people of Queens, but also help her out in her next election.
But finally, Jenni had managed finagle a day off, a day that she could spend the entire day with her son. And what better way to do that than to spend the day with an 18 month old than to go to the zoo and see all those animals?
So that's exactly what Jenni did; she packed Andrew up and drove into Manhattan. They had the entire day, so she figured they might as well spend it at the Central Park Zoo. At least that way if Andrew did grow bored looking at the animals, there would be other activities nearby to distract him.
The morning had gone well so far. They'd seen the bears, wolves, zebras, and lions, among a couple other animals. But Jenni was growing hungry and Andrew was growing fussy, so she decided that it was probably time to get some lunch. Making her way to the food pavilion, Jenni got in line, Andrew in his stroller in front of her. Burgers and fries sounded like a good idea.
He was on the mot Heroic of missions even a field trip to the city zoo wasn’t enough to stop him from his absolute thirst for justice and bringing good to the world. Koga hopped up on a bench and peered around the zoo. The Item of his quest locked tight in his grip, he would not fail in the task before him…he would succed in saving the day. He looked down into his palm again at the little shoe, he peered at stroller after stroller, the contents of the strollers were pudgy and spanned the emotional rainbow from amused to fussy. His eyes landed on a woman and a small boy his right foot protected, his left foot wiggling in freedom.
Koga hopped down from the bench and sprinted toward the woman. she crossed a track and then the gates came down to stop traffic. He looked to his right at the small zoo train that promised to run anything over that couldn’t move faster then…eight miles per hour. He kept his pace at full speed the train crossed the bridge, he planted his hands on the caustion gate and vaulted himself over the tiny train and landed on the other side in a fluid wild motion…a slinece hung for a moment as the passengers watched the young man on the other side. . The caution bar wasn’t too different from the uneven bars he practiced on at the machine. His eyes surveyed the area and landed on the woman again, He took off again at full tilt and came to halt next to the woman at her side.
“excusssse me Missss, I believe that thissss issss the boyssss.” He said in a huff and bowed slightly as he held out the tiny shoe. He was happy to help the woman…he belatedly hoped that the zebra stripes he picked up to cover his skin didn’t cause her any fright.
She was classically pretty, she definitely had a mom vibe to her, he would have thought she was even if she wasn’t standing behind the proof. It wasn’t stress that made it seem that way but that spark of kindness behind her eyes that said she was nuturing and a caring being. He smiled at her.

Slowly, Jenni was moving forward in the line. Lunch was almost within site. And then she heard a voice, a hissing, almost rasping voice. Turning, a slight frown on her face, Jenni jumped slightly when she saw the white and black stripped teen standing beside her. Holding her son's shoe.
At once, Jenni's eyes darted down to Andrew, and saw that he was now short one shoe, his left foot showing his stripped blue sock. "Can't you just leave your shoes on for two hours?" Jenni asked, slightly exacerbated, before turning back to the young man.
"Thank you," Jenni said with a slight smile now that she had recovered from the shock of seeing the obvious mutant. Then she reached for the shoe and moved to put it back on her son's foot. "It's not often you find someone this kind, especially in New York. Can I buy you lunch, as thanks?"
Koga’s eye widened slightly as she jumped at his appearance a bit surprised at her reaction, he still wasn’t used to being a surprise… he noticed his arm and the fact his skin could claim camouflage with the herd of zebra.
~~"Can't you just leave your shoes on for two hours?"
“ I hate wearing them too little guy.” Koga said relating to the kiddo quietly.
"Thank you,"
“My pleasssure, Missss.”
He copied the color of her skin as she took the shoe and switched over to a color she would recognize, over all it made him look like a mix of Caucasian and Japanese with a hint of reptile…instead of his true full Japanese heritage.
~~"It's not often you find someone this kind, especially in New York. Can I buy you lunch, as thanks?"
“That isss all the more reassson to be kind I think , it wasss no trouble at all.” He had only been running around for the last ten minutes at full speed, looking at baby feet. “You certainly don’t have too, but that’d be nice. They did sssay if we got ssseparated from our group to pick a ssspot and ssstay there. I am sssure one of the chaperonsss will come around eventually.” He browsed the menu and quickly found the cheapest thing on the menu, A hot dog and chips.

By the time Jenni turned back to the young man after putting the shoe back on Andrew, they boy's skin was much more like what she'd expect to see.
"Don't worry about it," Jenni said as the line slowly moved forward again. "Lunch will cost less than buying a new pair of shoes for him would have, so it's the least I can do."
Then Jenni heard how the teen said he'd been told to stay where he was if he got separated from the group. Frowning, she looked over at him again. "You mean, the rest of your group isn't around here?" Jenni asked, concern evident in her voice. "Where's the last place you saw them?"
~~"Don't worry about it," "Lunch will cost less than buying a new pair of shoes for him would have, so it's the least I can do."
Well that did make sense…not why he did it, but he wouldn’t ignore her attempt at commune. “ I guesssss I’ll take the hotdog with Cheetosss then.” A teenage boy wasn’t the hardest to convince to eat.
~~"You mean, the rest of your group isn't around here?" "Where's the last place you saw them?"
“Not quite closssse by. Well I found the ssshoe by the bearsss, But I know my way home and I am not hard to find if I want to be found. Alsssso I am sssure that I could locate the other kidsss asss sssome of them ssstand out againssst a crowd asss much asss I do. ” He noted that he had the little boy’s attention and held his hand up toward the boy’s shirt and the solid colors located there he then began to cycle threw them at a slow pace making him self easy to spot in any crowd, he didn’t do it so fast that it would bother any one with epilepsy. If he had the little boy’s attention before, he owned it now as he had just shown him that he was more interesting than any of the toys connected to the table tray on his stroller. He smiled widely at the little boy. Cute! Maybe he should try to get a job at a daycare. He could slowly work through soft tones and try to sooth the babies to sleep.
hmmmm diapers...yeah, he would stick with cleaning gutters and washing windows for the neighbors around the mansion.

Jenni nodded when the boy agreed to her buying him lunch and said that he'd like a hot dog and Cheetos. Personally, that sounded like a very male choice, though it wasn't like she was going to be doing much better, getting a cheese burger.
The kid didn't seem too worried about being able to find the rest of his group after they had eaten something. He wasn't worried because he was at the zoo with a group of other mutants, and they shouldn't be that difficult to pick out of the crowd, apparently. Jenni nodded, deciding that after lunch she would help this teen find his group again, despite the fact that he didn't seem to be at all worried about it. But Jenni knew that at his age, she likely would have been almost panicked had she found herself alone in the city like this.
But apparently Andrew was much more interested in the teen's power than she had been to start with, and the kid who had returned Andrew's shoe appeared to be having fun turning his hand different colours to her son's enjoyment. A small smile on her face, the line in front of her opened up and Jenni found herself finally at the front. Stepping forward, she ordered lunch: a hot dog, bag of Cheetos, cheese burger, a large french fries, and two cokes.
It really didn't take long for the food to be paid for and be placed on a tray in front of her. "Alright, let's go find somewhere to eat, then," She said, glancing over at the teen again. "My name's Jenni, by the way."

The monkeys in that monkey cage looked so much happier than Shin as the flustered Asian brushed through the crowd. An old woman out with her grandson eating a red Popsicle, a teen in an oversized panda shirt that hung down to her knees and met hot pink pajama pants, a thick-and-meaty Russian man in a business suit, chatting on his cellphone in a booming voice that was more heart than hearty, none of them were him! He'd broken from the group, skittered off into the distance, and now he was lost forever and ever, like a red balloon in the skies over Gotham city when the Joker's punch line panned!! Where was KOGA!?!
Huhwait a minute… Could this be?!Same hair, same height, blue skin... maybe Koga'd snuck off the lavatory and caught sight of some freshly-cleaned toilet bowl he found awe-inspiring? Shin reached forward to grab at another kid's shoulder with his left hand.
"Excuse me, are you—"
A forked tongue snapped back at him as the head did a full 180 degree turn, revealing green slit eyes and a triangular iguana face. This was a lizardboy, yes, but not HIS lizard boy!! Where… Shin staggered away from the blue iguana, through the blazing stares of the crowd. Two women talked in the foreground.
“That man…” The first pointed a bony finger.
“Did you hear?” The woman with acid green highlights muttered haughtily.
“Looking for a boy… honestly, the nerve of him. If I were his age, I’d be looking for a man.” She smirked devilishly, scratching a light tinge of hair on her lip.
“Hilde, you harlot!! Ahaha!”
“Do ho ho ho.” The slapped their knees at some horrible in-joke. Shin burst through their hellish huddle like a quarterback stealing the ball. His cast-arm was thrust out in front of him, like some battering ram.
“Sorry!!” He frantically apologized. But right now, he didn’t have time for manners. The entire group was waiting on him to find Koga. He’d left them by the Lion’s, and—
The smell of hot dogs and hamburgers wormed its way into his senses as he broke the zoo’s thick crowd… only to bumble his way into the food court, source of several other more thick crowds. He paused a moment, doubling over beside an empty table to catch his breath. The shadow of the parasol provided a moment’s respite from the rays of the sun. As he rose to collect his fevered attentions, he finally saw him.
By the food court.
Getting a hot dog.
With a hot lady.
And she had a kid. Okay, what. He had better have had a good reason for sneaking away from the field trip group Shin had been put in charge of. Shin really didn’t want to have to yell.
“KOGA!!!” Shin yelled. He snapped up his cast arm to wave at him as he stumbled through the line.
“Excuse me!”
“Pardon me!!”
“How very rude...”
“He touched my hand…”
“H-hey…!” Shin panted as he finally reached the group. He held his chest, once again remembering to breathe. It wasn’t an out-of-breath heart-racing, an out-of-shape thud, or any of that. He just didn’t work well under severe pressure, and tended to freak. He glanced up to lock eyes with the brown-haired woman. For a second, he stumbled over minor recognition of the face. Had he seen her before, or… “I’m sorry. Has he been bothering you? Koga, what’d I tell you about running off without telling the group? About how it was bad, and you should always let people know where you’re going when there’s no way for us to find you easily, and…” His angry tone fell as he looked at the boy. He couldn’t stay mad at that face. Shin’s tone softened. “We were just worried about you, is all. Next time you run off, I’d appreciate a head’s up… we could of snuck the entire group off to the monkey house while the other teacher’s groups were staring at sleeping cats.”
~~~"Alright, let's go find somewhere to eat, then," She said, glancing over at the teen again. "My name's Jenni, by the way."
Koga picked up the tray to allow the woman to push the stroller with both hands...one handed stroller pushing stunk, but could be done.
"Thanksss, Msss.Jenni. I really appreciate the food." and he did he was kinda hungry, he wondered briefly if everyone else was having lunch and if....
[][]“KOGA!!!”
Koga smiled up at Jenni with the smile of a spoiled pet dog that new very well he could get away with anything so long as he looked properly guilty. The fact that it was for a baby foot sized good cause was what made it worth it.
"That'sss Missster Sssshin, my chaperon...I think I might be in trouble. he is really nice, so if he yellssss at me and isss angry, know that it issssn't hissss usssual mood."
[][]“I’m sorry. Has he been bothering you? Koga, what’d I tell you about running off without telling the group?"
Koga interjected as the mans speech was going. " That its bad."
[][]" About how it was bad, and you should always let people know where you’re going when there’s no way for us to find you easily, and…”
Sorry, bothering her?!? Who did Shin think he was that he would bother a nice woman like Ms.Jenni. He looked as if he might object and defend himself, but stopped and let Shin-kun have his say, he was right after all, and responsible for him and an authority.
[][]“We were just worried about you, is all. Next time you run off, I’d appreciate a head’s up… we could of snuck the entire group off to the monkey house while the other teacher’s groups were staring at sleeping cats.”
"I just..."he was about to explain himself, that he was trying to do a good deed and saw a chance for training. that wouldn't even be dangerous. "Sssorry Ssshin-Kun, I won't let it happen again....half my food with me ssso I won't have wasssted Msss. Jenni'sss money?" he subtlety introduced Shin to his new friend as well as already having given Jenni his Sensei's name.
Once again, the kid thanked her for the lunch she had just bought for him, and Jenni just smiled at him. She still didn't know the kid's name, but he grabbed the tray to carry as they searched for a table so she wasn't juggling it and the stroller.
And then Jenni heard a voice shouting out across the food court area, and a moment later the look she saw on the teen's face at her side told her that it was him being called for. And before the person calling out had even reached them, the teen at her side was telling her that this was his chaperon, and that he was probably not going to be as nice as he normally would be.
And then there was a young Asian man standing in front of her, apologizing to her for the kid bothering her.
Jenni just shook her head. "No, he's not bothering me at all," she replied as soon as she was able to get a word in between the two young men. "My son tried to lose his shoe again, and he actually returned it. I'm sorry to have worried you. I was already in line, so I bought him lunch to thank him, and then we were going to go find your group."
"Lunch, huh? Well that sounds like a nice treat." And Koga'd been helping a child by returning his lost shoe? That was a bit more respectable than skittering away from the group to flirt with older women (which was entirely out of Koga's character, Shin realized as worry clouds ebbed in his mind). He smiled at the woman. "I'm glad he was able to help you out."
"Sorry for the comment about 'bothering her', Koga. I was just worried, and thought you were lost, and all these different scenarios of kidnappings and bad things played out in my head... and then I saw you here and I just thought..." He smiled weakly. "I overreacted a bit, huh?" He scratched the back of his head apologetically. His eyes shifted back to the woman and her child. Again, she was definitely familiar. He couldn’t quite place it, and then… “Hey, do you smell coffee? I could really go for a—” And there it was. “Aurum.”
That’s where he knew her from. She was the woman the barrister barista had chatted up at the book signing. He’d rung them up and Aurum had paid for the woman’s autographed book… she had bought books on parenting, hadn’t she? Well, there was the proof in the stroller right there. He blinked. "Nice kid."
Koga let a small innocent smile show, it was definitely more convincing when the person in question said you weren’t bothering them and you didn’t have to.
~~ "My son tried to lose his shoe again, and he actually returned it. I'm sorry to have worried you. I was already in line, so I bought him lunch to thank him, and then we were going to go find your group."
He was then nodding reinforcing what she was saying, he would have let her just go home and not worry about him but he knew that if he didn’t let her she probably wouldn’t stop worrying. And she already had a handful to worry about in that stroller of hers.
[] [] "Lunch, huh? Well that sounds like a nice treat." "I'm glad he was able to help you out."
That had to be a point or two in his favor. Maybe he wouldn’t be in trouble after all. He listened as the adults now spoke and he took his just a kid status in stride.
[] [] "Sorry for the comment about 'bothering her', Koga. I was just worried, and thought you were lost, and all these different scenarios of kidnappings and bad things played out in my head... and then I saw you here and I just thought..."
“I understand, I really should have told someone what I was up to, at first I saw another little boy with a missing shoe and thought it was his until they didn’t match from there, well I was on a mission after that.” He grinned sheepishly. A mission that I succeeded at. he momentarily wondered what he though and would have to remember to ask. It was bound to be kind of funny.
[] []"I overreacted a bit, huh?" “Hey, do you smell coffee? I could really go for a—” “Aurum.”
Aurum?...hmmm he would have to observe him a bit closer, he hadn’t thought him to be the type to run with the Jenni’s of the world…whatever that meant. Koga took a step toward the little stand of coffee and was about to simply go and get them all something…but he stopped himself, hadn’t someone just mentioned something about not just taking off.
[] [] “Nice kid."
…nice was a compliment for a car or painting.
“I could get us all some coffee really quick, just there and back.” He thumbed over his shoulder to the stand not thirty feet away.
At least she knew their names now, the two young men had introduced each other to her, even if they hadn't introduced themselves. And it didn't look like Koga was really in trouble any more. Yes, it probably would have been better had the kid stayed with the group, but at the same time if he had, Jenni would have had to buy her son another pair of shoes.
And then Shin cut himself off mid sentence, just as Jenni thought he was going to say he could really go for a coffee right then. And said a name. At least she guessed it was a name. She'd only ever heard the name once, even in New York City, but that had been in a mutant-friendly book store. A book store that was much closer to where they were now than to where she lived. Jenni figured that that upped the chances that even in a city of this size, that it could be the same person.
"You know Aurum?" Jenni asked, her head tilted to the side slightly. But Jenni saw that little movement coming from Koga as he inched toward the stand that sold the coffee, even if Shin didn't see it. She was a mother, after all, and toddlers could be surprisingly fast for the length of their legs. "No thanks," she said in reply to his offer to grab some coffees. "I'm good."
>>"You know Aurum?"
Shin glanced at Koga as he inched towards the coffee stand 30 feet away. He shook his head. "I'm fine. Really. And yeah, I know him. He works with me... I rang you up at Full Circle way back when, remember?"
It was a long time ago. She probably wouldn't. Heck, he hardly remembered. All he remembered of it was Aurum's being a bit too friendly, and paying for her books. Shin shifted the subject. "Anyways, yeah. Lunch." He furrowed his brow and gazed off towards the not-so-distant food stands. Zoos often had all sorts of goodies, from hot dogs to hamburgers to bigger hamburgers to hot dogs, and all the way to ice cream and hamburgers again. He rubbed his stomach obviously. "I could really go for a cheeseburger."
He glanced at his mickey mouse watch, then back towards where he'd parted with the group. "If I break for lunch now, I'd better let the others know... Koga, you pick out a place you'd like to eat at. I'll go call and let them know where I'm at..." Shin gestured to his cellphone as he took a few steps away from the trio. He spoke in a hushed voice so they couldn't hear. After a few minutes, he turned back to them with a smile. The cellphone slid away into a pocket. "Well, that's all wrapped up. They're on lunch break now, too. We can meet up with them later."
~~"I'm fine. Really. And yeah, I know him. He works with me... I rang you up at Full Circle way back when, remember?"
“Oh. Ok.” He paused and took a step back toward the trio. Mimicking the color of the toy that the kiddo held in his hand shaking here and there and rocking back and forth as if he was being controlled by a voodoo rattle thingy, Whatever it was.
“Aurum isss good people.” He said quietly butting into the adults conversation benignly.
~~”Anyways, yeah. Lunch." "I could really go for a cheeseburger."
~~"If I break for lunch now, I'd better let the others know... Koga, you pick out a place you'd like to eat at. I'll go call and let them know where I'm at..."
Koga looked at Jenni, smiled and playfully rolled his eyes, nodding toward the stand that they had just been at. He set their tray down on a recently emptied, but not spilled on picinic table. He snatched the few discarded items that were left behind and tossed them in the trash can.
~~ "Well, that's all wrapped up. They're on lunch break now, too. We can meet up with them later."
“Msss. Jenni already got lunch for me,Ssso I’m good and that place over there with the red cloth roof thing.” What were they called? That was going to drive him insane. “ hasss cheessseburgersss. If you want me to go ssstand in line, I really don’t mind and will be within sssite the whole time. He waved his foot in front of a caution when wet sign and adopted yellow and black stripes. “maximum visssibility?” he felt like he should be on a leash , why was he sooo energetic? Now would shin take the hint and have some talk alone time with the gorgeous women already? He didn’t think shin had a girlfriend, if he did, he didn’t really mention her to him…maybe he didn’t want to present the idea to the young man. He took a step back toward the stand again looking to Shin and Jenni as if they were his parents to approve. the only reason he didn't just go is because the big hassle that he had just caused.
