The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Zahira was a bit insulted by the girl that had laughed at her.... Wow she had anyone laugh at her in a while... A very long while. Ok so she felt a tiny bit insulted whatelse was new? "Well sorry for not looking at yer feet." She said rolling her eyes as she spoke. She moved away from him when he offered his arm. She made a strange face at him. She took another step back from them both, as she quickly got into the cab and took a window seat.
----
Zahira was at a bit of a loss of what to say as the least as cab stopped and she quickly neally leaped out of the car and looked around before sighing to herself, she could move around without having to brush up against people... even if they were mutants, she still didn't like it. She paused as it suddenly clicked in her head. She didnt' even know these people's names. "Who are ya guys anyway?" She asked once she was out of the cab and looking around the park. She couldn't pay the man anyways, since she didn't have much money on her anyway. She was kind of broke at the moment... since she hadn't been able to sell her artwork yet to at all.
Although she must admit the smell of Chilidogs didn't really please her. Maybe she could just get a normal hotdog without the chili. Oh well it wouldn't hurt to ask, but she'd wait to ask, she didn't want to sound rude by asking right out in the blue. Since she had just met these people. "Zahira Night, is my name." She added trying to not have it sound too awkward when she intoduced herself. Now all she had to do was wait for them to do the same. Surely there was no harm in telling them her name right? At least she hoped so.

Aris tried to smile at the other woman, realizing that her laughter probably could have been misinterpreted. Its not that she thought badly about her, it had just been such a long time since her mutations were not the first things noticed by...well, anyone. In a way it was a little refreshing. Perhaps it came from behind a mutant herself, that the girl didn't notice. Aris decided that she would like to think that was the case. It made for a much more positive view and Aris wanted to have a posative view of both of them. They were mutants, after all.
When Aris was offered the arm of the man she accepted, though was careful to move such that it was her flesh and blood arm that was held. It wasn't that she didn't trust the man, but she just didn't know him and if it came down to it she wanted to be able to defend herself. And when it came to defense, and offense for that matter, metal was simply more effective than flesh. She allowed herself to be guided to the cab and was careful to take the remaining window seat.
Aris began the ride quietly, mostly just watching the other two. She still hadn't had much experience with other mutants and was determined to absorb as much information about them as she could and she couldn't help but wonder at they're powers. The man, obviously, could turn invisbile but was that everything? Not that it wasn't a potentially exceptional power on its own. And she knew nothing about the other woman's powers at all.
"Who are ya guys anyway?" Aris extended her gloved metallic hand to the woman inviting a handshake and did the same to the man, in turn. She preferred to avoid contact with others with her flesh when possible, as long as it didn't interfere with her potential safety. Her lack of a sense touch made it difficult for her to feel if others were trying to injure her. Not that handshakes usually posed much of a threat, but it never hurt to be cautious. "A pleasure to meet you Zahira. I'm Meld. And you would be?" This last part was directed at the man. She would wait until they had a little more privacy before asking about powers.
Flynn sees the two take the window seats and proceeds to hop into the front."Central park please." The 30 blocks take almost twenty minutes and Flynn i grateful not to have to walk all the way there after going ail the way up and sown the steps of the Empire State Bulldog. Glancing back he can tell the younger woman is new to the city. She seems to look all about with newcomer's eyes, the same as Chris was doing he figured. The other one, being right behind him, wasn't readable. Oh well, plenty of time for talking after they got to...
CENTRAL PARK
The cab let them out and both women introduced themselves. "Flynn...just Flynn." He had popped his real name out so quickly. How surprising. It had easily been two years since he had given his real name to anybody. Part of it, he figured was that they were both like him. The other part was that they reminded him of his sisters. Aris reminded him of Tabitha, his younger sister by only a year and a half. Zahira was more like Melissa, always covered up so much. He led them to the vendor and said, "Hi Frances, I'll take the chili dog with the works. Also, get these two friends of mine whatever they want and we'll each take a soda."
After they all got their meal, Flynn led them to a picnic table in a rather secluded spot, at least away from prying ears and eyes. "Now then," he said between bites as he tried not to drip too much of the chili and cheese onto himself.." "How did you both know I was a mutant? What made you come to me? Are you both from around here? Are you two in trouble or something?
Zahira nodded to the woman, and removed her gloved hand from her hoodie pocket, and hesitantly reached and shook the woman's hand, she then dropped her hand stuffed them back into her hoodie pocket. "Its nice to meet ya two." She said with a shrug of her shoulders.
She had followed Flynn and Aris, frowning slightly to herself, but she ordered a normal hot dog and a Pepsi. Once she got her food, she followed him toward the table and sat down, scooting to the edge so she didn't touch them, even though her body was covered she was still didn't want to risk touching them. It was just how she was. She took a small bite of her food and swallowed it, almost like she was testing it for food poisoning or something. She set her hot dog down and cracked open her soda and drank some of it, before she looked up at them both.
She sighed. "Well ya appeared out of thin air basically. Not that hard to miss." She commented quietly. She frowned when he asked. "As fa that.... ya just interested me and I wanted to find out if ya were a mutant and that it wasn't just my eyes playing tricks on me." She said looking away from them and let her eyes wander around the area. "Me? I'm not from around here. I came from Japan, then Las Vegas and then Mississippi, and then I came here." She said with a shrug of her shoulders. "As for that last question.... that is really none of your business." She said firmly as she took another bite of her hot dog.

Upon arriving at the vendor Aris ordered herself a hot dog and a coke. She paid for her own meal, mentally bemoaning the loss of cash, little though it was. Aris' sense of taste was interesting, incomplete compared to most people. Her almost complete lack of a sense of touch extended to her mouth. She couldn't what textures food had at all nor did her taste buds function. Thus, it was all sense of smell. She had to be very careful about chewing everything properly and fully otherwise there was a risk of her choking. Because of this she tended to take longer to eat than most.
Aris quickly scanned the area for any signs of potential danger before sitting down on the picnic table. "Count me as another who saw you appear out of thin air," Aris said with a grin. "Figured it probably meant that you were a mutant." She shrugged her shoulders, as if that explained everything. "I'm from up north in Canada. Wouldn't same I'm in trouble, though maybe a little destitute. Work's been pretty scarce since I got here. Or rather, pretty non-existant." She didn't bother to elaborate regarding exactly what she did for work.
Aris' curiosity was peaked when Zahira refused to answer the last question. Very interesting. Most likely that meant she actually was in some sort of trouble, though she supposed the woman might just be unwilling to share the details of her life. Whichever the answer was, it could likely prove to be very interesting.
"I return your questions at you, Flynn, and add one of my own. I'm curious as to the powers you two have. Well, I suppose you," she gestured towards Flynn, "can turn invisible. But what about you Zahira? What makes you exceptional?"
After listening to the women speak, Flynn figured he owed them the same. "I guess I'm lucky only the two of you saw me 'pop in.' I should remember to go farther in the alley next time. I can turn invisible at will. That is my mutant power. I am dead to my family and friends, and I think I want to leave it that way. I was a soldier, but that was years ago. Something drew me to this city, ad I don't know what it is. I was hoping actually that one of you might be able to answer that puzzle for me."
Zahira nodded to what Aris said. Her mind racing for an answer at Aris's last question which was directed at her. "What 'bout ya, what's yer powers Meld?" She asked, she was trying to hold off on explaining her powers for as long as she could.
Zahira raised an eyebrow at Flynn. "That's interesting." She commented. "Good thing we were the only ones who had seen." She added. "Yeah it might be for the best." She said with a shrug of her shoulders as he talked about his family. "As fa something? Hmm we'd need more info then what yer given us." She said nodding her head slightly with what she said.
She frowned slightly. "Meh powers?" She said quietly, as she fidgeted. "Are what one would consider dangerous for other people, more then they are to herself." She said pausing, and looking away. "I can kill people... by a simple touch if we touch skin to skin for five minutes.... it gets shorter if I get angry." She explained and took a quick bite of her hot dog, finding her feet really interesting, suddenly. "Don't worry I can control my emotions really well." She added quickly.

Aris grimaced and gave Flynn a sympathetic look at the mention of his friends and family disowning him. She knew what that was like far to well and it wasn't something that anyone should have to go through. "I'll help with you're puzzle as best I can," Aris answered.
"What 'bout ya, what's yer powers Meld?" "My powers? I can modify myself to enhance my physical perfection." She carefully removed the glove from her left hand, revealing it to be bladed titanium. "I built this," she gestured towards her hand, "just like I built my feet and my eye. I then removed my hand and melded with the new one." She figured it wasn't really necessary to go into more graphic detail.
Aris schooled her face not to react at the mention of what Zahira's powers were. Very dangerous, and from in an innocuous young woman. One never could tell what another mutant could do just by looking at them, it seemed. At least, if Zahira was telling the truth, it wasn't an instant death. A powerful ally to have or a dangerous enemy. Definitely someone Aris would prefer as an ally. In fact, she'd prefer to have both of them as allies.
"I can kill people... by a simple touch if we touch skin to skin for five minutes.... it gets shorter if I get angry."
"My powers? I can modify myself to enhance my physical perfection."
Flynn reached over to Zahara,"You poor dear. I'm so sorry, you must be so sad. Well, Do not worry, I'm not scared because of what you can do." He placed his hand on her shoulder. "Such a pretty girl like you should not have to wear such a weighty burden. Perhaps we can both find help here in this big city. I a place to fit in and yourself, a way to control what you can do."
He turned to Ari's, "Your craftsmanship is quite good. Does it not hurt to lose a part of yourself or does the metal you attach just transform itself into a replacement of something flesh that is already there?" He reached out to brush a stray hair away from her replacement eye. "I'd never want to lose an eye. I'd figure that was pretty painful. Look, I'm squatting at a lace a few blocks away. It isn't much but If you want a safe place to stay There's other rooms you can use. I've been taking down muggers and the like out here in the park and taking their cash while I'm looking for whatever called me here to this city. Some friends would help considerably. I trained in the army for three years and I know a little about defense. I can teach you some things to help you feel safer if you'd like as well. Finish your meal and I can show you the building if you'd..."
A whirling sound interrupted him and he turned around. Across the field of grass and trees witnessed three small scale airplanes, like toys that model enthusiasts build pop up over a parked blue Volkswagen and make a beeline their way. The radio controlled planes were styled like Japanese zeros from WWII, His cousin had played around with them and he had seen one fly thru the bay window in his house when he was 13, shredding the family cat in the process. Two shots rang out and he saw two ski-masked men hop over the trunk and hood of the 67 candy apple red mustang parked behind the beetle. A woman screamed as fourteen of the old school GI Joe's (the sixteen inch variety) trampled over her, stabbing their bayonet-attached rifles into her repeatedly.
Frances ran off, leaving his wares unattended. An armored figure, looking more like some silly child's costume than a suit of say, guardsmen armor, walked between the two cars. He was surrounded by more of the toy soldiers. He slammed his armored arm into the hot dog stand and launched it ten feet in the air, into a car coming down the street.
The two masked guys had bags of cash they were holding. The armored guy threw his hand out toward the planes. It was then that Flynn realized that the group was headed in a path that would go right thru where he and his friends were sitting. The armored individual moved his hand down and the deadly planes veered right at them, as if he could control the small playthings. The modified flying death machines started shooting bullets which chewed up the picnic table six feet in front of Flynn and his friends.
The two beat cops chasing the group of powered individuals noticed the 'innocent' group and held their fire, but then the armored guy swept his other hand down and behind his back and the toy soldiers moved as if they were a full sized infantry unit toward the cops.
"GET DOWN!" Flynn called out. He pushed Aris out of the way of a plane headed toward her and threw Zahira off the side of the table covering her with his own body as the planes came bearing down toward them. He jumped up and vanished from sight in a almost liquid looking explosion of motion. He ran forward toward the first guy and threw his arm out as the guy ran by. The surprising impact knocked the guy off his feet, hanging him in mid air for a moment. Flynn snapped around, using the momentum of the smack into his arm to spin around and slammed his foot into the perp's back in a roundhouse kick that took him down quickly. He popped back into sight as he looked back to see how the others were faring.
Zahira nodded to what Aris had said. "That's really cool." She commented to the other female. She had to admit, she hadn't guessed that, but it made sense with how much she could do with melding stuff and those metal limbs and such.
Zahira immediately shrugged off the contact, and gave him a death glare, that if glares could kill, this boy would be dead in most grossest ways known to man, or maybe even inhuman ways.. "Don't touch meh!" She snapped out of reaction to the unwanted contact. "I don't need yer damned pity! Nor do I damn well want it!" She snarled again, immediately going on the defensive. Shoving people away when they were trying to take pity on her with their words. She mentally snorted in anger. She had heard it all before. They were just lies! That's all those words were, boldfaced lies! She knew first hand about those stupid innocent words, and she hated hearing them.
Zahira's eyes widened and then narrowed in bitter anger and resentment. "What the hell are ya doing!" She snapped out seeing the planes and toys and guns and the men. "Yer a f***ing moron!" She spat out at him, as he threw her over the table and then shielded her with his body. Something she didn't need. She didn't need him to protect her! Damn it she could protect herself!
Zahira jumped to her feet once he disappeared and got off of her. She tore off one of her gloves. Her hand flashed black around the outline of it, but it disappeared. Her anger was skyrocketing. OK so her anger control wasn't the best... so what! She suddenly ran at one of the men and slammed her hand over his face. The man screamed in pain as the girl's powers too effect quicker then the normal time limit, this effect was much faster then normal, cause she was still angry at Flynn.

Aris had been about to explain that she had a place to stay all ready when she hear the whirring sound. Immediately on guard, she positioned herself defensively and tried to pinpoint where the potential threat was coming from. 'Toy planes?' was all she maned to think before Flynn pushed her out of the path of a speeding plane. His reflexes were good, she'd give him that much. Not that she had needed his assistance to avoid the oncoming plane anyway but she didn't spend time being offended by it. She would be able to show both of them how capable she could be in a combat situation.
Ducking low Aris took a moment to take in the entire scene, not wanting to act until she had a better idea what was going on. She saw the toy soldiers and at least 3 model airplanes, which appeared to be controlled by one of the individuals, obviously a mutant. And the mutant should be her target. If she could eliminate the one controlling the the toys then it stood to reason the threat would be eliminated.
Aris began running towards the mutant controlling the planes, keeping her eyes open for any possible threats around her. Unfortunately the man saw her and sent one of the planes careening in her direction. Aris managed to dodge out of the way of the first pass and positioned herself to be better prepared for the second. Seconds later, as expected, the plane came around again, attempting to slam itself into Aris' chest. This time, however, she was prepared and managed to slash at it with her bladed arm. There was a horrible metallic tearing noise as the plane was torn almost in two, followed by a loud bang as the plane hit the ground violently and shattered. One plane down two to go.
"Why do you fight your own kind?" Aris yelled at the man controlling the planes. Mutants shouldn't be fighting mutants. They were the same people, kin in a way. They should be fighting the real threats, not each other.
Flynn looked over to see Zahira grasp the other guy. His agony sounded like a gut shot wound in the field. Flynn wanted to do something but he could tell he wouldn't get there in time to even try to get her to break off. Taking a life wasn't something Flynn had ever wanted to do but in the course of an Op in another country, he and his squad had been responsible for three dozen deaths. He had done that for his country, but that hadn't made it any easier. Having the power of dealing death with a touch could desensitize her to some degree he figured. But it looked more like the power had traumatized her quite a bit. It still didn't make it right. Well, he wasn't a psychologist; and he didn't have time to worry about it at the moment.
A look over at Aris dispatching the plane showed him she had good moves as well. "Aris, keep the planes occupied, they can shoot bullets. Zahira, try to keep those soldiers from killing anyone. I'm going after the big guy and try to stop all of this."
He popped back out of sight and moved silently toward the bad guy, gaining speed. Flynn jumped at him preparing to launch an elbow into the armored man's face, which only seemed to have a plastic visor covering it. Faster than he would have thought, the armored man's arm whipped around, slamming into his invisible body, breaking his concentration and propelling him backward a good fifteen feet to land in the middle of a sandbox dazed, confused, and fully visible.
(Sorry the post is a bit bad. I'm falling asleep at my computer...)
Zahira let the dead corpse go. Zahira gave a small laugh at what she had just done. She didn't know but she found it enjoyable.... almost. Hearing the man's screams... Zahira shook her head wildly and quickly slipped her glove back on. Zahira clenched her teeth, biting back the scream of pain that wanted to rip though her lips. She had more important things to worry about then the danged side effect of her deadly powers.
She quickly over toward the toy solders as she ran over to them, she suddenly found herself getting charged by the mini soldierss. She laughed. "Is that it?" She asked quietly as she started to swat the toy soldiers and send them crashing down to the ground. OK so it wasn't as fun as she had hoped but oh well, beggers can't be choosers, as she thought it, as she continued to swat at the army toys that had continued attacking her in a very fruitless attempt as she thought it was. Zahira ignored it as her vision kept getting blurry. She knew she had to stay awake and get this over with, and then she was going to high tail it after this little fight was over.
Although she had to admit, she wasn't expecting this to happen, she watched out of the corner of her eye as that male got thrown into the sandbox. Zahira's attention was divided by the man that had just whacked Flynn away and into the sandbox, and he was invisible. OK now this fight was starting to interesting. Although she didn't fully understand the situation.

Aris nodded absently as Flynn gave her directions, her attention focused squarely on the man and his airplanes. It was exactly what she planned to do anyway so she had no issue with his directions. Off to her side Aris heard a man screaming horrifically and figured it was probably Zahira at work, but didn't bother to look in that direction to confirm. Distractions could be deadly and she wasn't about to allow herself to become distracted.
Aris continued advancing forward towards the toy controlling mutant, dodging the two planes as she progressed. The mere act of staying one step ahead of the planes required most of her concentration and when they began shooting at her she almost lost it. She swore loudly as a bullet ricocheted off her arm, growling under her breath. Now she was angry. Screw dodging , it was time to end this.
Aris halted her advance, studying the actions of the planes carefully. There was a pattern to their movement, a timing to their attacks. If she could only time her counterattack perfectly...She tensed, ready to spring. One of the planes made another dive at her head as the other continued shooting. Ignoring the shooting plane (she would deal with the consequences of stray bullets later) she grabbed at the diving plane with her metal hand as it flew inches from her face, crushing it into scrap metal. Two down one to go. She grinned maliciously at the mutant controlling the planes. If this was how he wanted to play then so be it. She would play his game, whatever the purpose behind it. And when she finally got to him he would suffer dearly.
Aris turned her attention toward the final plane, determined to end this. Out of the corner of her eye she spotted Flynn get thrown by the man into a sandbox. No matter, she couldn't help him just yet. Hopefully he was as capable as he seemed to be. The remaining plane changed tactics slightly, no longer diving at Aris as the other two had. Instead, it shot at her from a distance. She was able to dodge or block most of the bullets, but was fairly sure that a few hit their targets. Hopefully none of them were large enough or hit in sensitive enough areas to cause too much damage. Watching carefully the parttern of flight of the final plane, Aris observed that it tended to fly close to a tree to her right. Aris carefully positioned herself next to the tree. Waiting for the perfect moment, just as the plane was beginning to circle around for another barrage of attacks, she jumped up onto the tree, using the claws on her hand and feet to climb up faster than any human could. When the plane came close enough, she jumped off of the branch she was perched on, catching the tree in her metallic hand and landing with a thud on the ground. All three planes were now disposed of.
Flynn rolled over slowly, very groggy from the hard hit. Pain lanced thru his side, The cloth of his T-shirt was torn into ragged strips. Chris clutched his lower abdomen as he felt another wave of pain hit him. He had definitely bruised a few ribs taking that smack. Whatever that guy was wearing. it wasn't as childlike as he first thought. He had been hit by what felt like hard steel, and the speed of the blow meant there was some sort of enhancements involved in regards to movement. He stood up, nearly falling again had there not been a tree right next to the sandbox he could grab to keep himself steady while he collected his thoughts. The big guy stood fifteen feet in front of him, unharmed.
Chris looked into the clear faceplate the guy had on and saw his eyes twinkle as he looked over to the soldiers Zahira was dealing with. The second row lowered their weapon and five of them took off toward her, bayonets at the ready. The row of GI Joe's behind them, looked as if they popped clips of ammo into the M-16's they held. He shouted out a warning to the girl, which of course caused the armored man to notice him.
The man raised both of his arms and he heard a hum. Flynn ducked behind the tree, bringing more pain, and nearly causing him to vomit the chili dog he had eaten a few minutes ago. A second later and the tree exploded in a thousand splinters as some sort of energy beam blasted the tree he was behind. Chris looked at the armored form with the smoldering hands over the meager stump left behind from the attack.
