The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

She laughed at the seemingly gentle Shin, she just held the umbrella for him to get into the car first. sometimes it was a relief to have a male try to let little ol her fend for her self. She hoped with both feet over the miniature river that was at the curbs side, they were luck that they weren't covered in street water. she shoved most of her bottom half of her body into the car as the top half held the umbrella and in one quick motion she lifted the umbrella pulled it shut and set down, then she hooked the door with the handle and pulled it shut.
~~“The Quartz Rose, my good fellow. I hope you know the way.”
**“Nope.”
~~“Darn.”
"three doors down from the corner of hundred forty four and Snapple street. I hate Snapple street, it used to be maple but Snapple somehow bought the naming rights. ugh. after that we need to go to central park." she grinned at the expression on his face. who in goodness sakes would go to central in this kind of rain.
The crabby cabby shut the window between them and began mumbling to himself. as they started to proceed in the right direction quickly. So the other day I shared a car with this little business woman and she had the worst body odor I have ever smelt on any one, you smell pretty nice." she couldn't put her finger on what exactly it was but the sweetness of the doughnuts contributed to it a little.

“Eh?” Shin laughed as she commented on bad-smelling ladies and his scent. “Well, thanks. I do what I can.” Nothing special, just bathing once or twice a day depending on the exercise routine he was handling. The taxi cab rattled along, and he glanced away from the freezing window at Tyranny’s face. “You smell nice, too…” I guess. His bangs shook as he gave a light chuckle. It was an odd way to start a cab conversation. She was definitely not your average girl off the street. “So, odd question. You ever read anything by Kiyohiko Azuma?”
The cab went over a bump as he mentioned the mangaka, rocking his shoulder into Tyranny’s. A puddle sloshed against the window at his side. Raindrops trickled down it like a horse race.
“Eh?” “Well, thanks. I do what I can.” “You smell nice, too…”
“Why thank you. Its avocado lotion and coconut hair stuffs today.”
“So, odd question. You ever read anything by Kiyohiko Azuma?”
“wait don’t tell me.” She paused and taped her chin as she nudged his shoulder back playfully. Mom, Tetsuya wont stay on his side! “I haven’t read any of it but, I think I have watched his show. Azumanga deoh? Die o? doe doe, the one with the high school girl….or is that fruit baskets? One of my room mates is an anime nut.”
The cab made decent time in the rain less of the usual traffic havoc was packed away in a garage somewhere; the cabbies were however out in force. As most pedestrian’s would opt for a ride if they could afford it. They pulled up to the quartz Rose. “ So you kids want to pay for this and catch another cab or you want me to wait wit the meter running.”
“I want you to wait with the meter off, that way you get a better tip.” Tyranny replied neutrally. And then smiled. “we shouldn’t be long but sometimes the owner gets long winded, if you get bored beep at us and we can use that as an escape if we need it. ok? Ok.”
The little shop had the cozy feeling of a grandma’s house with out the musty smell and it managed this in a pretty large shop. The shop smelt spicy.it was a vibrant place lit well and kept clean and orderly. It was all things positive. A little old lady with a peper and spice bun on top of her head and strand after strand of beaded stones around her nck and wrist.

“Yeah, that’s one of his. Slice of life anime about a bunch of high school girls. He also did one comic about this girl who moved into a new house in a new part of town and looked at the entire world with wonder…” Shin scratched the back of his head with a weak laugh. “Kinda reminds me of how your eyes lit up when you mentioned moving the statue…” Not that that was a bad thing. And air conditioners were evil, to be sure. “A friend got me into the series a while back. I think it changed my life.” The conversation continued.
Before he knew it, they were at the place. Tyranny told the cabbie to wait for them with the meter off, and Shin thanked him fervently as he assented. The Asian followed Tyranny into the Quartz Rose. He glanced around the room uncertainly, ogling all the many things. A cuckoo clock in the corner ticked away patiently as the cuckoo sat on its perch. The whole room smelled of something akin to rose petals and cinnamon.
The old lady with the pepper-bun hair walked up to them. Shin smiled at her. “Good afternoon.”
“awe.” She couldn’t help it, he thought she looked at the world with wonder, she must be making progress with the grieving if that was true
~~ “Kinda reminds me of how your eyes lit up when you mentioned moving the statue…”“A friend got me into the series a while back. I think it changed my life.”
She sat still and listened. “What is the name of the girl? And the series? I think you may have succeeded where Mindy has not been able to. My roommate Mindy.”
“Good afternoon.”
“Hi Elvira! Whatch your bum Shin, she pinches.” She said as she moved toward the area that she was looking for. “ Hey, El? Do you have a protection pendant for stone? It’s for a friend.” She called
The elderly woman squinted a glare at tyranny, it would be harder to get to that young backside if he had been warned.
**“ Oh dear, that girl has a wild mind.” She said to shin and then started heading after Tyranny. Teach her to ruin a old woman’s fun. “Oh a frined of your’s run into medusa?” she said in a half serious tone. “ I just so happen to have made a little something out of granite in the back for such an occasion.”

“Pinches?” Shin squeaked, taking a half-step back and covering his bum. He looked from woman to woman, then turned to pull a piece of folded paper from his inner pocket. “I’ll just be over here while you’re working, then.” He leaned against the wall, pressing the paper against his palm for a flat base. A pen scribbled furiously on the little pad. As he drew, his brow furrowed, the tip of his tongue jutted out between teeth. A minute later, he was done! The ballpoint pen popped away. He folded the paper, passing it off to Tyranny with a good natured grin.
“Here,” the paper pressed into her palm. He turned to look at the old woman. “And just curious. What do you mean ‘Medusa’? Just what are we dealing with here…?”
On the paper, Shin had drawn a face shaped like a four leaf clover with a massive grin. Under that, the name ‘Yotsuba’ was written in bold 3D lettering, scribbled in with a dark dashed pen. She’d asked earlier what the comic’s title was. Well, there you go~

~~“Pinches?” “I’ll just be over here while you’re working, then.”
~~“Here,”
Her eyes widened as he squeaked and fled for his bums safety. She took the note half expecting it to say something like lets get out of here. “awe that’s cute. Yotsuba?.... Oh the anime? Cool.”
~~“And just curious. What do you mean ‘Medusa’? Just what are we dealing with here…?”
The woman paced up behind Tyranny’s Behind and gave her a pinch and a twist. Before turning around to answer.
“Ouch!” tyranny protested before she carried on with her search.
**“Young man, do you not know you’re mythology? Medusa turns friends into stone statues, you two are the ones that came to me with talk of statue-esque friends.” She gave him a wondering glance and the did a about face and marched into a back room holding up a stone on the end of a long gray cord. “Here is what I would use my dear. Now I know you know the ritual to perform before you activate it, great night for earth, air, and water.” She finished knowingly to Tyranny.
The younger spoke “How much do I owe ya?”
“**who’s the friend?” The elder replied
“The Mad Hatter.” The youth admitted.
The old woman looked into Tyranny’s eyes to see how serious she was, resolving that she was.
**The age demanded. “Free. Now off with you, before he has to look at that ugly mug too long across the way.”
**“and you young man would do well to be a bit kiner to an elderly woman who doesn’t have enough fun.” She winked at the young man. “ Now shoo. Scoot! Scadaddle!”
Tyranny leaned in and hugged the woman and then made a hasty retreat.

Mythology? No. He was more interested in science fiction. Giant robots, alien societies, future civilizations, and cyber punk worlds. Dystopia or Dinotopia, maybe a utopia, that was a good trope... eeh ah. He eyed the stone on the string as the old woman passed it off to Tyranny, and bowed his thanks.
"Thank you, miss. And sorry. Next time, I'll bring presents to make up for it. Hope you like chocolate rabbits. Anyways, good bye." He turned and followed Tyranny out the exit, tugging the back of his coat up over his head. Still raining... he raced her to the waiting taxi cab, swung through the door.
"Alright, now where did you want?" The cabbie eyed them like they were two crazy kids tugging at his hair.
"Central park, actually. Near the Mad Hatter statue... I guess that'd be East 74th Street, north of Conservatory Water. We'll have to walk from wherever you drop us off... good thing I've still got the umbrella." He hid a wry smirk.
She dodged into the car and nearly slammed into Shin as she shut the door in a hurry. " Thanks for waiting Mister!" her soothingly happy tone did a little to lighten the cabbie's mood, they were now at the very least kids that he liked tugging at his hair, probably.
"Oh I am glad you remembered Shinbo, I woud hav sent us to the other side of the park. Heh. I know my way much better on foot, Sometimes it feels like cheating getting rides. I guess it takes city folk to think like that."
She held out the charm. The little stone had a symbol on each of its five sides, the looked like that could have been alchemical or mystical maybe Norse runes? maybe mystical, alchemic, Norse runes. "this is the Prize. It should put his mnd at ease, even if just a little."
THe cab sped and slosshed its way through the city, it was enough to make you wonder how much tread a cabby made sure they had on there tires year round, if they cut costs and changed there tires less often then they should. well for now the garnet would be protecting them.

He laughed at her joke, and tilted his head at the charm. "It's interesting. Are those Elvish...? Actually, I think I've seen that before in a book. Hold on..." He put a finger to the side of his head, snapped his eyes shut, and creased his brow in thinking. Images of dragons flew through his mind, quickly shifting to massive shapes in shadows that loomed over the hills. "Oh, right. Norse. I saw them in a book about trolls, and a woman who was very contrary... she was so contrary that... her husband drowned her. The Norwegian people have a very rich tapestry of tales." Shin blinked as the car went over a bump.
The green of the park in the distance whipped by around them. The scent of hotdog vendors was faint, bogged down by fresh rain. The car slid to a stop by the roadside, near a plaza.
"That'll be $23.50." The cabbie held out his hand through the window. Shin smiled, forking over a few bills and two quarters.
"Wow, cheap. You ready, Tyranny?" He popped out the door and tugged the umbrella open over his head. Water pounded the pavement and grass around him like a piledriver. His toe dipped in a massive puddle by the steps.

" Yeah, the norse are great, there is this one scene in Eric the Red, or some movie where A japanese warrior says to a norse men that they have no honor and don't even know about sepiku, but the playwright didn't study up, the Norse have a second way to get into Valhalla called the walk of death, it is for warriors that grow old and have been successful in their battles and wars, so their prize is cutting their stomach open, nailing their intestine to a tree and walking around it until they die."
Tyranny grinned at Shin and nodded, she tosed another twenty to the grumpy Cabbie, "a smile wouldn't hurt your mug." she quipped as she exited. The cabbie whipped away into the night. "Ok lets go ruin a jabberwocks day." Whooooooo!" Tyranny let out a whoop of laughter as she ran in the direction of the first shelter to get her bearings. Ignoring the wonder of an umbrella for the fun of going from shoddy shelter to shoddy shelter. " Come on shin!" She pointed to a few checkpoints that would get them closer.

Shin ran after her, puddles reflecting his legs as he surmounted their breadths. His sneakers came down in a pool of mud and sent it splashing. His arms wavered back and forth a moment, in a desperate cling for his balance. Balance won.
He tugged the umbrella shut. He'd finally decided speed was better than protection in this ever loving downpour around them. The little button clicked into place as the fabric wrapped around sides, fastening the umbrella shut. He tugged the neck of his coat tighter to stave off the wet chill. Finally, he caught up.
"A bit crazy, diving into the rain head-on without protection." He laughed. The drum of the rain around him numbed his senses, and now his cheeks were feeling the after burn glow of a good run. "But I suppose it isn't too bad, struggling blindly through downpours. Even the worms make a point to come up out of their holes to bask in the wetness."

She readied a defense but he was already defending her ill-logic. It was interesting how much she hated the weather and then would find her feet propelling her along through it.
“Yup.” She replied strategically “I figure we hit that gazebo, that gathering of trees and from there well, the mad hatter awaits.”
The plan lay out before them, she waited for a nod or anything else and maybe it was a shiver, but it looked like consent to her, and was more than enough to send her running.. This trail took them mostly along with a wet sidewalk except for the hop off under the trees.
She dashed too the gazebo and ran to the trees and finally sprinted all the way to the mad hatter him self. She glanced back and waited for shin, he would be here shortly no doubt.she put her hand above her eyes as if she were shading her sight from the sun.

"Sounds like a plan," he smirked. She took off in burst of speed. He tore through the rain after her, in a run like explosives were on his heels. Each time they came down to touch grass, they shot back up into the air.
Darting from gazebo to tree covering, and finally to the hatter himself, Shin made good time. He slid past Tyranny on a patch of mud, like a scene out of Risky Business.
"Whoa!" He swirled out of control, landing palms down at the foot of the Jabberwock statue in a circle of mud. Slowly, he drew his eyes upward. It loomed out at him, striking out for throat!
Tyranny put her hand up to cover her eyes just as shin went sliding past her she turned to try to help but manged to slip and fall on her butt when turning and bending.
If a foot patrol officer was around they would be receiving sobriety tests for sure.
"och!" she pouted as her butt was now soaked. she climbed to her knees. and then to her feet and then tried to off
while she was down there she poked her finger into the mud and got a smear. out came the garnet stone and she held out the cord. she smeared the stones top with mud and held a lighter beneath it a blue flame spit out heat an sizzled against the wet stone. the air and water need not be applied.
"Earth, Air, Water and Fire. we beseech you to guard this stone one, keep him safe from his foes and put his mind at ease."
She glanced at his right hand which was point in the air as if he had just com up with a plan, she yanked the stone off the cord and tucked it into the pocket made by the rest of his fingers and palm. someone would be hard pressed to notice it, much less extract it.
She turned around and then faced the jaber wock she untied the bandana from her hair an bound its mouth.
