After leaving her friends behind Raina mounted her sled with 4 dogs and headed south to the forest. She wasn't looking for big game... just a few rabbits. Hares to be exact were easy to take back to camp, froze and thawed easily enough, and still made for a fun enough hunt.
The sun was still blaring mercilessly onto the snow creating an awful glare. Again she wished she'd brought her sun glasses. She slowed the dogs down and put them to rest at the edge of the forest. She could easily set of a few snares but then she'd be waiting a while. So she pulled out a bow. She wasn't big on guns though they tended to cause the animal a quick death- but she was good with the arrow. Better than they knew at the mansion because she didn't use it like a weapon. For her... it was a tool.
She pulled some snow shoes on- thankful they were packed and started padding lightly into the crunchy snow that led into the forest. The air was fresh and cold, but the trees offered some shelter from the wind.

She had climbed a tree. There weren't exactly many tall ones but Raina had managed to find herself one high enough up off the ground that the local wild life paid little to no attention to her. A hare had already escaped her when upon seeing it she let out a musical note expecting to make the ground beneath it slippery- instead she drew attention to herself with the sound and the hare ran off. It really sunk in for her then that her powers were on the fritz- at least her singing was. She knew from her little episode with Luke in bed that she could still go fish- something she didn't want to do here. Raina could withstand cold it was true- but it was a conditioning thing due to her lifestyle and being an ice chanter. She didn't have any extra power that would keep her warm or keep her from getting hypothermia in a place like this. She was glad for once of the patriarchalness of the whale hunt. There. She saw it. A little flash of gray in the corner of her eyes. She already had been holding the bow in her hand despite the fact her fingers felt frozen and she lifted it ever so slightly to target her prey. It was a big hare. It would feed at least 2 or 3 of them if not all of them if they were all sharing. She still wanted to be sure the dogs had enough too though. She drew back on the bow and watched the rabbit scurry. Raina had great respect for animals. Her heritage had taught her to be thankful for the bounty and as she let the arrow fly she said a silent prayer of thanks for the life ending so that she may continue her own. It made contact and the hare was down in seconds. As she hopped to the ground it twitched only once before becoming cold and stiff. "Nice." she said to herself feeling triumph. "Now, if I can get 5 or 6 more I'll be laughing." she grinned *** It was almost pitch black when Raina decided to call it a night. She'd gotten 3 Hares in total. Not enough for the dogs but enough for the people. She hoped Naveed and Sam would bring back whale meat. The dogs would like that even though she felt it to be pretty rubbery. She trotted out of her hiding place thinking to herself how she would tease Luke- he bought her elegant dresses and pearls.. she was bringing him rabbit meat. Ah, True love. ooc: continued in theultimatexmen.proboards26.com/index.cgi?board=canada&action=display&thread=3756
