The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Today was the day. The Pokemon tournament. Kealey had studied, she'd practiced, she'd taught Ghost, then they'd practiced together. They were going to be awesome...no seriouslyawesome. Needless to say, the empath was excited. It could have had something to do with the fact that everyone else in the mansion was excited about the tournament too, but Kealey had a feeling most of the giddy was coming straight from her.
There was something about working hard for something, even if it was what ultimately amounted to a silly power training exercise, that made it that much more important. Kealey had worked for this. So had Ghost.
Standing in front of the full-length mirror she'd placed on the back of her bathroom door, the slender blond tied and re-tied the sash on the blue kimono she'd finished making just that morning. It had been close, and at some point half-way through the previous night Kealey had considered throwing in the towel on the idea and simply modifying the thing for her final project as she'd originally intended. She'd persevered, though, and was now wrapping the flowing material around her body, trying to make sure that it fell just right. The kimono itself didn't exactly match the picture in the book Shin had let her borrow...the fashionista in Kealey had simply had to make a few adjustments, but it was close. It was also lovely, if the tailor didn't say so herself and the she nearly squirmed at another wave of giddy that washed over her when she realized it was almost time for Ghost to arrive, help Kealey with her hair, and get some help of her own with the costume she'd be wearing. Finding out that the other woman had some talent in that area had been delightful. Kealey smirked a little, wondering how Shin was faring with his costume, and if he'd be surprised by what she showed up in. Kealey hoped so, she'd worked so hard to keep her costume a secret.
Studying her reflection one more time, Kealey nodded thoughtfully, the makeup was a nice touch. Kealey didn't usually move away from neutral colors, but the pink eyeliner and shimmery eyeshadow she'd used over the top was a nice contrast to the blue of the kimono.
A knock came on her door and Kealey jumped, nearly squeaking with excitement, then moving to open the door as quickly as the long skirt would allow.
Maya was not expecting to be greeted by so much bubble and glitter. Kealey was in fine form this afternoon, Maya could tell even before the woman spoke. "I like that pink. Do you have purple eyeshadow too?" Because earlier that day Ghost had realized that she owned only the most boring, neutral colors of make up known to mankind.
"I brought you a proper obi to borrow." And, though it wasn't a matching color, it contrasted and complimented just fine. The obi was a sort of shimmery gold and reddish orange. Like a fish's scales, the angle and lighting determined what color the obi appeared to be. There were a few delicately embroidered fireworks stitched across the folded rectangle of cloth. "I wouldn't bother trying to tie it yourself." Maya grinned but passed the cloth over anyway so that it could be admired.
Her own costume was no where near as elaborate. Beneath the Obi was a stack of construction paper cut outs and in her pocket was a glue stick and some string. Ghost wore a body suit not too unlike her X-men uniform, but a solid color: dark purple. The more dark purple she wore, the more purple her body's "smoke" would appear while incorporeal. At least that was the hope. For now she felt a little silly. Later on, when she was ghosted, hopefully no one would really notice what she was wearing.
Maya closed the door after herself. "What first? Hair?"

Kealey grinned as Ghost complimented her on her eyeshadow and nodded viggerously as the other woman asked if there was purple. "Definitely." she said, "Several colors in fact, and some lovely greens if they strike your fancy." The set had come in three towers, each with darkening shades, pink, purple, and green. Why anyone would need all those shades in the same color, Kealey didn't know, but it had been a deal.
Ghost handed over the gorgeous material and Kealey gasped a little and took the material gently in her hands. It was so soft and pretty, and the colors played off of it in such a lovely pattern that she couldn't exactly tell what color it actually was. "Oh Ghost, thank you so much." she breathed, "It'll offset the blue beautifully." The younger woman told Kealey not to even bother trying to tie the obi herself and the blond shook her head, "I know when to leave the work to the experts."
Taking a moment to take in Ghost's apearance before jumping into anything, Kealey gave her an appraising look then nodded her head in satisfaction. The body suit was simple, but judging by the practices they'd had and the way the Pokemon looked in the books, this was going to work out to perfection.
Ghost asked if they should start with hair, and Kealey nodded her head. Instead of her almost signature curles, she'd meticulously straightened her hair this morning and it hung in blond sheets past her shoulders. If she was going to do the kimono look, Kealey was going to do it right. "Let's do it." she said, and moved to find an appropriate sitting place. "Me first, then you. If nothing else, we're going to be the best looking pair out there."
Green? But... purple went with purple. That was about as far as color theory went for Ghost. She'd leave it to the expert just as Kealey left some things to Maya's expertise.
Like hair.
Kealey took a seat in front of a mirror and had all the tools ready for this hair exercise. "I don't know why you insist on doing my hair. I'll be mostly see-through for most of the day." An idea that had seemed foolish at first. It definitely broke her no full transformation rule, but she couldn't seem to keep that one anyway.
First the brush. Not that her golden hair wasn't already hanging in straight tangle-less sheets. It was just protocol to start with the brush. Running her hands through Kealey's long hair made Ghost hesitate at the thought of cutting her own shaggy mop. She hadn't bothered since Romania. Somehow adding in another life to juggle had made her feel like she had less time for herself. And... well, haircuts take time.
Maya moved gently through Keaely's hair. It didn't take long to section out the hair and twist them into two simple braids starting at the crown of the emotionmancer's head rather than the nape of her neck. From there all it took was a few twists and a hair chopstick for each odongo. The front bits Kealey could piece out how she wanted, but now the back of her hair was secure enough that at the end of the day the blonde might have a headache from how tightly Maya had secured the hair.
She put in all the ornamental pieces and the hair was done. Poof. Perfect. "Jaws will drop, Kealey, when you walk out on the lawn." Had Maya been more adept at winking, now would have been the time. "I hope we blow them away in more than just the looks department." Not that Maya and her purple suit were contributing much there.
While Kealey tried to wrestle her hair, Maya would be gluing her eyes on to the whites she had cut out earlier. "I'm going to try to keep this face up during the fight to look more like the gastly. What do you think?" The little fangs in the mouth were actually really cute in Maya's opinion.

As she sat in front of the mirror watching Ghost work her magic, Kealey tried to focus on anything other than the tugging and pulling that the other woman was exacting on her hair. The braids were simple enough, and Kealey tried to commit the look to memory, her thoughts pulling her towards her final project again. Ghost was concentrating, and that really did help matters, some of the giddy left and Kealey started to focus on the task ahead.
They’d talked over their strategy several times and Kealey couldn’t help but grin at Ghost in the mirror. The other woman hadn’t been as thrilled by the concept of this contest as Kealey had, but she’d agreed to help out anyway and had thrown herself into the part of a Ghastly with more tolerance that Kealey could have hoped for. Ghost was truly comfortable with herself, and if Kealey was being honest it was a trait she envied. ”Thank you again for doing this…” she said, cheeks coloring slightly when Ghost said jaws would drop when Kealey hit the lawn. ”I literally couldn’t have done it without you and for some reason this is really important to me.”
Kealey finished, feeling slightly awkward and glanced at the mirror she’d forgotten existed. The effect of the hairstyle and makeup was dramatic. The front still needed a little work, but Kealey made a quick exercise of it, picking out bits and pieces to frame her face. She smiled brightly when she was finished, people might not even recognize her.
”You’re a miracle worker, Ghost…an absolute miracle worker, and of course we will. We‘ve practiced. People always underestimate the effect of status effect combos. We just have to remember to communicate so we‘re not wasting opportunities.”
Ghost showed Kealey her costume, and the empath grinned at the simplicity. Ghost’s powers would make the effect anything but simple, though, and Kealey returned to a comment the light haired woman had made earlier, ”And I insisted on doing your hair because I’d like to do something for you besides make-up. You did my hair, you loaned me that beautiful obi, and you went out on a limb for me in a tournament you probably couldn’t care less about. It means a lot, and I owe you one."
Kealey paused a moment to let the words sink in, then took a deep breath and grinned, "Now. Let‘s switch seats. I don‘t want to do the obi until right before we leave, I‘d hate to sit down and wrinkle it." The statement was perfunctory, practical, and down to business. That was the mood Kealey was attempting now that the touchy feeley moment was over.
" I think your costume is going to look great and that when you're visible the other trainers are going to have a hard time keeping their eyes off of you long enough to make a call. I like the fangs too, they're a cute touch. ” The blond grabbed her makeup brushes off the night stand and waved one at Ghost, "You said purple, right?" an idea had occurred to Kealey, and she'd decided that three shades of purple might be the perfect amount after all.
"Purple. Right." The problem with attempting to glue things while someone was makeupping was that Kealey wanted Maya's eyes closed. Maya, of course, wanted them open. But once the googly eyes were set there was no excuse. She just had to be primped and polished to do this right.
"It's good practice for me too and it was a good way for me to get to know you better." Ghost would say whatever it took to divert the gush. Kealey seemed to get the hint and moved on, professionally.
To the hair.
Ghost wished she'd been a bit more gentle since she was now getting a return treatment. It would look great, she had no doubt. It was the getting there that was always a literal pain.
When she looked up all the tugging was forgiven. It took the elemental a few blinks to reconcile her image of herself and what she saw. "This is nicer than my wedding hair." Even she sounded surprised, though, to be fair, she hadn't had nearly enough hair when she was married to have a loose up-do. It somehow looked effortless and loose and at the same time felt secure enough that her winds might not undo it.
"Thank you." Sebastian was going to love it. His face was going to make all this silliness worth it.
A little bit smilier than before Ghost got up. "Let's get you in that obi. Try it out a few times and we can adjust it so you can breathe and move, but it won't fall down."
And she was going to have to remember how she'd learned to tie it. A few tugs and hmms and pokes and Ghost managed the plain knot. It settled like a small wrap backpack at the small of Kealey's back. It was just a square and a little short tail of leftover material, but it would have to do. She didn't have anything fancier.
"Can you move?" Ghost circled around front to check that the front hadn't wrinkled oddly. "Give me a good pokeball throw just to be sure."

Purple. It turned out that when three shades of it were applied in the proper manner, it made an aeromancer’s eyes pop beautifully. ”You really ought to try these bold colors more often. It blends beautifully with your skin tone and hair. I wish I could pull off bold colors like this.”
Makeup didn’t take long, and Kealey didn’t waste any time on fixing Ghost’s hair either, going for something elegant even if it was more simple than what Ghost had done to her. It didn’t matter, though, Ghost was happy with the end result, and therefore Kealey was happy. Doubly happy in fact. ”I’m glad you like it.” was all she could manage though. Happy thoughts had a tendency to push all others from the brain.
It was obi time! Kealey stood patiently, again watching in the mirror as Ghost did her magic with the wide piece of cloth. How she managed to fold it into that perfect little square without any wrinkles was a miracle in and of itself, and Kealey was simply awed at how smooth the thing was and how well it did contrast the blue.
Ghost requested that Kealey give her a pokeball throw and the blond colored slightly as she prepared to pantomime. This whole thing was a bit silly, and they really were getting into it. The fact remained, though, they were going to have to be making the movements. Kealey wound up and made a throwing motion, ”I choose you, Ghostly!” she added for full effect, then studied herself in the mirror. Everything was still in place. Kealey nodded and grinned towards Ghost.
”I think that means we’re good t’go. Can ya think of anything else we need t’do before we head out?”
OOC- Sorry about the slightly strange dialogue shift. I’m going to try writing out her accent a bit. I keep forgetting Kealey is Irish.
