The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

It wasn't every day that you saw a costumed super hero stomping down the streets of New York, muttering to herself in Gaelic. You especially didn't see that when you'd just seen the same costumed super hero on a breaking news report, helping to end a riot that had sprung up during an anti-government protest.
Kealey was mad....she was furious...she was pissed. Even in her head, the mild curse made her cringe. So did what she'd just done. She was a team leader. On her first mission. She'd completely lost control of her team, blundered through a solution to the situation, and then stormed off after a non-specific rant about actions and consequences. She was just so....mad....and mad wasn't something the blond was used to having to deal with.
Jorge could take the kid back to the Mansion, or drop him off the Brooklyn Bridge. No, she reminded herself, it was her strangely careening emotions speaking. That was not how a team leader reacted to things. In fact, nothing she'd done in the last half hour had been anything like what a team leader should do. Kealey sighed and looked up at a street sign, she was close to home. Maybe it would be best just to call it a day. At least until Sam got wind of what had happened and called her in to fire her.
Legs feeling like lead, Kealey drug herself into the lobby of the new apartment complex, ignoring the looks of people who hadn't realized exactly who the new neighbors were. The elevator ride was silent and lonely, and when she finally found herself at the apartment door, Kealey unlocked the locks and slumped her way inside.
Oh. Shin was home. She wondered if he'd seen the news.

Shin was wearing a lot of leather.
Okay. Maybe not a lot. He had a nice leather jacket on, though.
Leather usually went well with motorbikes, one of which he had. Kept things all in fewer pieces in the event of a fall.
This jacket wasn't brand new. It was one he'd had for at least a little bit. A Christmas gift from a friend. Still, the novelty had not yet worn off.
He had been so busy admiring himself in the mirror he had not been paying attention to the news. Or any comm beeps.
He really did look good, though.
Shin almost didn't notice it when Kealey came in through the front door. But... luckily for her, he did notice, and was happy to see her, because it meant she could see him and all his good-lookingness. Luckily for her, he also noticed she seemed less-than-thrilled about something. So after his rushing pounce hug kiss at the doorway, he asked her.

When Shin hugged her, Kealey hugged back. She liked the jacket that he'd gotten for Christmas, and the way he looked in it very much. It was good for the motorcycle too, safer. Even seeing him all decked out and getting the pounce hug kiss didn't improve the blonde's mood.
Picking up on the tone of things quickly, Shin asked what was wrong.
Kealey shrugged her shoulders, not exactly sure how to convey exactly what had happened.
"I'm a terrible Leader...." was a good start. Then she burst into tears.

Tears plus the uniform did not compute.
Kealey was superhot in the uniform, like a supernova or a really big and active star. Like the creation of the universe really. Big bang. That, plus crying equaled... no.
He had to make all crying cease at once. And it was simply not in his nature to let such things continue.
Shin hugged her again. "You aren't," He said softly, chin on her shoulder. "Tell me what happened. I'm sure it isn't as bad as it all seems." And if it was, they could handle it. They were getting married eventually, after all. They could handle the world.

Shin hugged her again, and Kealey cried even harder for a second. What was wrong with her?! It had to be the strain of the last couple of hours, the amount of effort she'd had to use, and the intensity of her powers when she'd used them in that crowd. Adding in the insubordination and general chaos that had ensued had simply been too much.
Clinging to the sides of the jacket, Kealey buried her head in Shin's neck for a second before she started telling the story. It was halting, and punctuated with hiccups, but slowly all the details came to light. The bickering in the car, the amusement Jorge had felt at her giving instructions, Hokee slipping out of the car and disappearing into the crowd. The Hot dog stand into the people, the kid on the minotaur's back.
"And then I just yelled at him and walked away...all the way back here...." she finished. Still sniffling.
"I didn't know what else to do. The bad guys were really tough too...."

If possible, he hugged her even tighter. Tight enough to squeeze the water out of a sponge, or the air out of a lung. But it was the comforting kind of sponge-squeezing, lung-smooshing hug.
He was worried about her. And frustrated. Mad at the people for making her this way. But since that wasn't a good emotion, he was also a third, unrelated emotion. The kind with that hard-to-describe confidence that he could, in fact, make things better. That he knew what to do, and could make everything all right.
"You'll live," He told her. He shook his head with a small laugh. "We both need to practice as team leaders. It's hard." More importantly, he decided. "And you're going to put the fear of god into that rookie, because someone could have really gotten hurt. Am I right?" Damn straight he was. That course of action was freaking immutable.

The pressure of Shin's arms around her increased and Kealey breathed out a long sigh as the air whooshed out of her. It was harder to cry when you couldn't take in deep breaths of air. Those arms also made her feel better, as did the feelings moving through her fiancé at that exact moment in time. He was angry at what had happened, but not at her because he was also protective. There was worry, and a little bit of fear, but there was also that warm fuzzy, confident...Shin-ness that suggested that everything was going to be alright.
His words made sense too. That she needed to work at being a team leader, and that she needed to put the fear of God into the rookie who had slammed a golf cart into a crowd of people. Man, was Sam going to be mad at the spin the media would put on that.
Back Kealey pulled, just slightly, enough that she could wipe her eyes and take a few breaths to fiish calming herself down.
"I know I need practice...but so much could have gone wrong."
Another sigh.
"Besides, I don't know if I could put the fear of God into anyone."

"Really?" Shin asked peevishly.
"Gee, Kealey. You're a librarian and an ex-nun."
He tilted her chin up so she could look him straight in the eyes.
"I am sure you will do just fine."
"I need to work on team leadership, too. We both do." He pulled away to let her breath, and retreated a half-step back from his fiance. "We both need to work super hard at being the best we possibly can be. You can't let a kid walk all over you, either. I mean, just think how good that would be if we had them?"
Kids gone wild. Running all over, high on sugar. Bouncing bricks off walls. Amusing thought, but also endearing and a little bit frightening.
"Gotta learn how to tread water before you can swim, eh?" He concluded with a smirk.

Shin tilted her chin up, and Kealey looked right back into his eyes while he pointed out that she'd been a librarian and a nun.
"Almost nun." she muttered as he continued.
He was sure of her though, and just like always, Kealey knew that he really was. Shin said she'd get better at doing what she did, and that she needed to practice not letting kids walk all over her because one day....
One day....
Kealey couldn't help it, she giggled a little. It was a teary, slightly hiccup'ing giggle, but a giggle all the same.
"Don't say that in ear shot of your mother." she said, "Or we'll get more baby clothes next year for Christmas."
That was enough joking though...this conversation was about serious business.

"No, Kealey." He feigned seriousness, hands on hips, lips pressed thin. "I don't think--- of course I think!" He interrupted himself.
"Now, dammit. Stop crying. Your tears will stain your uniform. And we can't have that."
That giggle and the look on her face when he'd suggested... still cute. Even if she'd been crying. As had been the admonition and correction about nunhood. Damn, she was something.
Her being something made him want her to be happy even more. They would indeed get through this. And.
Speaking of uniforms.
Shin grinned at her.
"Sure hope mom doesn't send more stuff. We'll run out of room."

Of course he thought....she'd been silly to even question.
As they stood there in the entryway of their apartment and Shin demanded that she stop crying, Kealey nodded her head and wiped her eyes. While letting all of it out had made her feel better, it was no way to actually solve any kind of problem.
Shin caught her joke about his mom and her almost desperate desire for grandchildren and commented back in kind. Sure, they had an extra room, but if his mom hadn't been sending a message last Christmas, Kealey didn't know what it was.
"I did kind of calm down a whole crowd...and stop the guys who were stirring it up. Two of them."
Was she bragging? Just a little...and had she commented on the jacket yet? Not sure, she ran her hand up the arm.
"And I like this jacket...were you going to go for a ride?"

>>"I did kind of calm down a whole crowd...and stop the guys who were stirring it up. Two of them." Kealey noted.
"You are an impressive and foxy woman," Shin confirmed for her with a nod of his head.
The nod was shortly followed by a headshake. "Staying in." He replied. "Just making sure it looks as good for you as is physically possible." He paused. Then added. "Although plans can change."

Somehow Kealey didn't quite believe that Shin had been standing around in the jacket just waiting for her to get home...the sentiment was nice though, so she grinned.
And...plans could change.
"Are you saying we could go for a ride?" Kealey said, sniffling one more to rid herself of the remaining tears.
That over with, she took a slow step forward.
" 'Cause, I've got this thing for motorcycles...."
