The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

It hadn't beeeeeen about weddings. What. What was this? Why had the internet trolls led him wrong?
Shin stared at the essay on the computer screen. Nope. Not about proposals or weddings at all. This was worse than that movie 'Freedomland' in the misleading title realm.
Seriously, what the heck, Jonathon Swift?
A quick google result suggested it was satire.
A long 'oh' escaped Shin's mouth. That made much more sense...!
Not that he needed any tips about proposals today. Nope. Had the trusty ring in his hoodie pocket and was good.
Hopefully, his long drawn out 'oh's and general sighing of relief would be like chum on the water for the Kealey shark.

Valentine's Day! The temptation had been great to decorate the new apartment with paper hearts, but Kealey had decided that no matter how much the holiday seemed to call for such frivolity she would resist. Last year had been fun, and adorable, and all those other things that seemed to either make people roll their eyes or grin that silly little grin when they were around her and Shin. It was one of those things that simply was what it was. Like Valentine's Day.
Pleased with the circle of logic that she had just completed, Kealey set aside the project she was working on and pushed her hair back out of her face. She could have sworn she'd just heard Shin, and suddenly doing work just didn't seem all that interesting.
It didn't take her long to find him, considering the fact that he was in the same room. The computer desk was surrounded by plushies, and spare fabric, and a bunch of Kealey's sewing materials...but everything fit just fine. Including Shin.
Rising from her chair and making her way over by him, the blond seated herself on one of the many totes in the room and grinned.

Dun dun. Dun dun. Dun dun.
DUN DUN DUN.... dramaticmoodmusic... !!!
Apparently, it was super easy to bait the water when someone was all of fewer than 20 feet from where you were. Well, good.
There was no smirky cheeky slyness, no obvious precursor to any such emotion when Shin asked the question. He simply asked it. Point blank. Without any devious plans or smirky smirkness endeavors waiting behind the words.

He'd asked for her hand. In marriage.
The box came out of the pocket, real-casual-like. Lid popped. Red velvet. Silky soft interior. In a simple gesture, he slipped it on her ring finger. A simple gesture for a simple ring. A Silver Band with a diamond in the center. In the light of the room, the gem almost looked deep pink. It was gorgeous. Not too overdone. Not too underdone. Just right. It had reminded him of her.
He left it on her finger as he pulled his hand away. And he smiled at her.
Words really didn't need to be said here. This was not that sort of situation. But still, he said them. Because hell. You only get one shot. Do not miss your chance to blow. He didn't. "Do you?"
Would she? More importantly, would it make her heart weak. Or her arms heavy. Like mom's spaghetti? His weren't. But hey. Different strokes for different folks. Some simply said 'I do.'

The metal was cool against her hand when Shin slid the ring on her finger, and Kealey gasped slightly when he moved away and she could see. The ring was gorgeous. It was simple, but delicate and almost exactly what she would have picked out for herself. It was a ring that she could wear all the time. One that she wouldn't have to take off if she had to fight while doing X-Men stuff. It was a ring that...
It was a ring. A RING.
Shin spoke, and Kealey's startled eyes shot up from the ring to his smiling face, a similar smile spreading broadly across her own.

How sturdy would one think a twisty chair is? Probably as stable as any spinny chair ever conceived. Which was not very. It was hard to imagine Kealey having done anything other than her reaction, so... It really should have been no surprise they hit the floor hard as any tippy twisty chair could hit the floor when said office chair overbalanced. It was a good thing his ribs were healed up. Otherwise, they might've cracked something. Other than ass.
Shin really didn't notice any of the full brunt of the pain from the Kealey pounce he'd broken the fall for. He was more focused on, you know, the answer?
The answer was yes. Yes.
Yes, that was a good answer. To paraphrase the prison guard in Robin Hood: Men In Tights, this was wonderful news.
Shin kissed her, then and there. On the floor. Surrounded by the army of Staring Plush.
