The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Two days. It had only been two days since that horrible run-in at the flower shop and Agnes was still agonizing over every detail. What was supposed to be just another boring day at work, then a lunch with an old friend, turned into an all around nightmare. That of course was the day that Rebecca Grey decided to walk back into her life. Well, maybe not really walk as in all out stumbled! And Agnes was no model of poise either! She made a fool of herself trying to just get out of the whole situation!
The end did come, though. Just not in the manner that she had expected. Jasmine, her ex, had walked in just after Rebecca proclaimed that she missed Agnes. And then Rebecca flew out of the shop faster than Agnes had even seen light move. It was…it was just a mess.
But that was not the sole reason for Agnes’ discomfort towards what happened. No…there was another reason why she was still obsessing about it; why she was sitting in bed right now in the Juilliard dorms, staring into the darkness of the night. It was only around 10pm but her roommate Felicia had already gone to bed. Carol, thankfully after that stupid incident in the music room, got transferred to another room. It was highly irregular for the staff to make such arrangements this late in the semester but it seemed that Carol had enough money behind her for them to do such. Agnes was glad. Good riddance to her.
But, back to the matter at hand. There was one thing about that meeting with Rebecca that bothered her…
>> "Why did you ne'er text me back?"[/color]
She thought about that same phrase over and over again in her head. She just couldn’t stop obsessing! What was Rebecca talking about? Agnes never received any text from her after their break-up, that she was SURE of. She had watched her phone obsessively and never so much as a peep came from Rebecca ever again; but then what was the redhead talking about?
Sitting up in bed, her covers pulled up to her stomach, the young insect queen sighed as she stared at the dark room. It was a cool night, which explained why she went to bed in her soft, long-sleeved shirt and flannel bottoms. They were warm against her pale skin. But they didn’t combat the cold feeling that was growing in the center of her chest and kept her from sleeping. It was the cold chill of curiosity.
She turned and eyed her phone sitting silently on her night stand. The blue dot at the corner showed that the phone was fully charged. The sleek case reflected a tiny bit of pale light that shined in through her window and, for a moment, she caught her own, dark reflection.
This was a bad idea.
But before she could help herself she snagged up her phone. Despite her better judgment (or stubborn judgment), she knew that she couldn’t rest without finding out the truth. And that would only happen if she contacted…her.
Flipping open her phone, she maneuvered her way to the [Text Messaging] option, clicked, and began to scroll through her [Contacts]. Oh…wait…she removed her. Damn it. Moving back into blank field, she began to type in the number by hand…when she realized she didn’t remember it all. Though it had only been two months, Agnes had relied on Rebecca’s contact information already being on her phone way too much. It was to the point that she could scarcely remember the number anymore! But…she could remember some of it.
Typing out the message:
What text?
She began to send out the message to the number she thought closely resembled Rebecca’s. Three times she did this, and three times she got back different messages.
Who the hell is this?!
Are you talking about the scripture? Jesus saves!
Santa?
Yeah, none of those could be Rebecca. With a frown, Agnes sighed and set her phone down. Irritated, she ran her fingers through her hair and scratched the back of her head. She definitely knew better than this. She should just put the phone down and forget this whole thing…but she just couldn’t. With steely determination, Agnes pulled up her phone again and eyed each of the numbers that she had sent the text to. Yeah, there was something off about each of them. But maybe…
(Hopefully) punching in the right numbers, Agnes held her breath as she typed:
What text?
[Send]
In silence she stared at her phone, leaning back against her pillows and holding it up just a tiny bit. Maybe Rebecca was already asleep but if she knew the redhead at all she knew that she wouldn’t be going to bed just yet. She was probably watching that stupid show she liked to watch at 10pm…

Rebecca was wise enough not to let her emotional stress interfere with her school year after working so hard all semester. She spent the night before studying and reviewing her classwork from earlier in the semester so she could crush the morning finale she had in her literary criticism class. Once the final was out of the way, she was ready to continue moping and making poor choices.
There was a party her friends from class wanted her to go to in celebration of a successful semester. The idea that Rebecca's semester was "successful" made her laugh, but she was not going to turn down the invitation. It was a small party at the Pike house, which was a fraternity that housed many of her male friends at school. There would be people she trusted, so she felt comfortable sitting on a couch, drinking away her feelings.
It had been two days, but the flower shop incident was painfully fresh in her mind. Rebecca had run the experience through her mind, and common sense eventually fixed a few details. As upset as she was, there was no way Jasmine was the reason Agnes never texted her back; Agnes would not move back onto her ex in Japan within a few hours of the breakup. (She hoped, at least.)
Still... it was crushing knowing Agnes did move on. She was being a hypocrite after her flings with Gawain and Lexi, but the idea of Agnes successfully moving back to a functional relationship put her out of reach and served as a reminder of how Rebecca blew her chance.
"Becks, isn't that your phone?"
Rebecca looked up from her beer bottle at her friend Jim, who was looking at Rebecca's jean pocket and the glowing rectangle beneath the fabric. Now that she was looking at it, her attention was fading back and she could hear the video game jingle she used as a text notification. "Oh yeah, thanks," she mumbled, pulling the phone out of her pocket.
unknown said:
What text?
It took Rebecca a moment to figure out what the text meant, and in that instant, she realized who it was from and spilled a little beer on her sweatshirt.
"What the-- are you alright, Becks?" Jim sat next to his possibly intoxicated friend, ready to protect her from other guys who might prey on her.
"Um, yeah. Well, no." How could she be okay? Agnes just texted her, and apparently, the text Rebecca was so sure she sent might have never found its way to Agnes's cell. "Um, Jimmy, Ah think Ah wanna go home." If she was going to have this conversation, she wanted it to be somewhere with no distractions and possibly no one to watch her cry.
"Sure, I'll drive you." Jim was the friend every girl needed in college; he was responsible, respectful, and he had the hero complex required to be the everpresent designated driver. Rebecca followed him out to the driveway where she slid into the passenger's side of his pickup.
As Jim started up the truck, Rebecca read the two word text three more times before typing out a response.
The one I sent the night we broke up. You got that right?
[Send]
Thank God for smart text possibly saving her drunken inaccuracy.
Agnes sighed as she stared at her phone. Time had gone by and it was still dead quiet. Maybe she had dialed the wrong number again and the person had responded to it yet, or decided to ignore it. Or course, it could be that Agnes did get it right and Rebecca just didn’t want to talk to her. Agnes guessed that it was only within the redhead’s nature to do that. After the break-up, Rebecca never once tried to communicate with her.
Maybe now she was just continuing the same behave—
Bzzzz!
Agnes literally jumped at the sound and feeling of her phone buzzing on her lap. So much so that she had to catch herself before she went tumbling off the side of the bunk bed! Thankfully, her did managed to straightening herself out as she looked down at the phone. There was no telling what the response could be. It might be from a stranger or it could be from Rebecca!
Sigh, she needed the strength to flip open her phone and check her messages. Maybe if she just took it one step at a time, that would give her the courage to do so.
1- Flip open phone.
Done.
2- Click [OK] to read new message.
Done.
3- Read said message…
>>
The one I sent the night we broke up. You got that right?
Agnes held her breath. She read the message at least two more times, peering at each word closely, trying to denote the possible tone of voice that Rebecca had. Obviously it was impossible since text messages did not denote tone. Rebecca could be crying, laughing manically, or straddling some stranger in bed, wearing skin-tight leather that she just met!
Okay…no need to let the imagination run wild.
…ahem…
Sitting up, she responded…
Rebecca. I never got any text from you. The day at the flower shop was the first time I’ve heard from you in months.

Rebecca was staring down her phone like it was keeping something from her and she was trying to break its will. Never in her life had a text message been more important to her. Normally she would prefer a phone call, but they were not at the stage where she would be able to speak rationally with Agnes, and slurring would only make things worse.
"Are you okay, Rebecca?" Clearly Jim's concern was growing if he was using her real name.
"Yeah, it's just... my ex is texting me and Ah--" Do-dododo-Do-do-Do-doo! "Sorry, one second."
The message popped up in a little window.
Rebecca. I never got any text from you. The day at the flower shop was the first time I’ve heard from you in months.
The emotions Rebecca felt were conflicting: on the one hand, Agnes never received her text, which explained why she never replied, and proved she was not simply ignoring Rebecca!
On the other hand, Rebecca very likely did something wrong and failed to send her own text message. It... would not have been the first time. Her experience with her Droid was... a learning process, at best.
I guess something went wrong with it. Oops?
[Send]
Alright, maybe "oops" did not do justice to a mistake that caused that much trouble, but what else was she supposed to say?
Well, maybe one thing.
I just thought you didn't want to talk.
[Send]
Now Rebecca was thinking she was not the only one who had that worry.
"Is... is everything okay?"
"Ah... dornt know yet." Things were taking a path Rebecca never expected.
Agnes waited again. And while she waited, her mind began to wander. Rebecca had actually texted her after they broke up? She DID try to contact her? Agnes wanted to be suspicious about this. She wanted to be angry with Rebecca for purposefully ignoring her so that the runaway had a damn good reason to just never respond to her again. At least then she could have some power over this current conversation. But, the simple fact that Rebecca just might have sent something tilted her world. Maybe…Rebecca was not as cold at Agnes originally thought about the situation.
She sighed and looked down when her phone gave off the usual Bzzzz!. There had to be a reason. Some explanation as to why Rebecca hadn’t sent the message. Agnes was sure that it had to be a good one.
I guess something went wrong with it. Oops?
…
“Are you F***ING KIDDING ME?!” Agnes exclaimed, louder than she meant to. She heard Felicia groan in the bunk bed below her, then sleepily peek out.
“Agnes? Are you insane? Why are you yelling? I’m trying to sleep!”
“S-Sorry, sorry, Felicia. Go back to bed. I’ll be quiet.” she responded, still looking down at the one line of text. She just couldn’t believe that THAT was Rebecca’s response.
She sighed, shaking her head, as she heard Felicia settle back in for sleep, doing her best to keep her emotions in check. God how angry she wanted to get. As a matter of fact, she was just in the middle of a perfectly justified, ranty response when—
Bzzzz!
She blinked and checked her messages again. A new one came through.
I just thought you didn't want to talk.
She sighed and lowered her head. She guessed that that was better. But she was conflicted. Was all this, the break-up, the hell of these last few months, just over a damn misunderstanding and a lost text? Seriously? She shook her head as she typed:
Becca…you threw me out and then I never heard anything. I…I thought you were done with me.

"Are you guys fighting?"
"No. Not yet at least." Somehow Rebecca knew a fight would be unavoidable if the conversation continued, but it probably had to happen, so she would just accept it.
Jim pulled up to the Mansion gates and Rebecca opened her door. "Are you going to be okay tonight?"
Rebecca looked down at her phone as the Do-dododo-Do-do-Do-doo! chimed again. "Ah'll let you know." There was no sense in lying when she might end up needing a shoulder to cry on should things turn sour.
As she walked through the gate and up to the front door of the Mansion, Rebecca scanned the new text message.
Becca…you threw me out and then I never heard anything. I…I thought you were done with me.
Rebecca wanted to pretend that Agnes's assumption was crazy, but she had every reason to assume Rebecca wanted nothing to do with her if the text never found her. As she walked through the halls on her way back to her room, she did her best to type out an honest reply.
I'm sorry. It said I wanted to talk.too late now, I really do miss you but I respect you're daring Jasmine.

That immediate moment of typo regret hit Rebecca and the moment her phone was ready to send another text, she quickly sent out a revision.

She missed Agnes, but she also had to respect that she missed her chance based on a stupid missed text. Jasmine was probably making Agnes happier than Rebecca could, and she would have to understand that. She was not going to try stealing the same girl from the same second girl twice.
That flask under her bed was going to put in some time that night.
Agnes rested back against her bed. She was tired of sitting up. It made her far too tense because she was just hunched over, staring at her phone and waiting for it to buzz again with Rebecca text message. Was this really happening? Was she having a text message conversation with her ex-girlfriend who threw her out and never bothered to contact her? Apparently so. Because….Rebecca had tried to contact her but something happened to keep the message from going through.
It really did seem as if the stars were aligned to just screw up her life, weren’t they? She grumbled and shook her head, leaving the phone on her chest, waiting for the message back.
Bzzz!
I'm sorry. It said I wanted to talk. Too late now, I really do miss you but I respect you're daring Jasmine.
Bzzz!

Agnes arched her brow, reading the message closely. If what Rebecca was saying was true, then she had wanted to talk to her this whole time? She had tried to message her right after? It was too much information and far too soon after everything for her to process clearly. She had loved this woman, dearly, and she had been hoping against hope that at some point Rebecca would come to her senses. When it seemed like she never would, Agnes was crushed. Somehow she made herself go on day after day, but she did.
But…now, despite the fact that she felt ready to move on, Agnes just felt raw To know, all this time, that a misunderstanding kept them apart was just torture. And—wait…Jasmine?
She read the last line of that message again. What was Rebecca implying? Probably exactly what Agnes thought she would.
Dating Jasmine? Rebecca who ever said anything about dating Jasmine?

Rebecca was tossing her sweater in the hamper and switching into flannel pjs when she heard the Do-dododo-Do-do-Do-doo! from the phone resting on her bed.
She rushed to pull the pajama top over her head so she could run and jump onto her bed, launching her phone in the air. After a failed attempt to snatch it in the air, the phone hit the carpeted floor and the battery popped out.
Rebecca extended her body off the bed to pick up the pieces of her phone and impatiently put them back together, muttering, "No, no, no, terrible timing! Bad piece of junk phone!"
The battery was placed back into the phone and the power was hit. Rebecca grew more frustrated as the slow restarting process seemed to drag out. When it was finally done, she pulled up her texting application to read the last received message.
Dating Jasmine? Rebecca who ever said anything about dating Jasmine?
Rebecca stared at the comment blankly for a moment.

She was visiting. Obviously. Jasmine was going to Japan before she even broke up with Agnes. It was a big step in her life and her potential career, so it would have been stupid to think she moved back because Agnes was single again.
I'm an idiot.
That was a more fitting answer.
I'm an idiot. So... do you have someone new? Did you?
[Send]
Rebecca was not sure why she asked the question; there was no good answer. If she had, Rebecca was going to feel like crap knowing Agnes was able to move on. If she had not, she was going to feel like a whore for her indiscretions.
Agnes grumbled as she waited for the phone to buzz again. Though she knew that Rebecca had every right to think that Jasmine and she were dating after that display in the flower shop, Agnes was just a little ticked off. Why would Rebecca think that Agnes was so quick to move on? It had only been a couple of months. It was not like she was going to feel like her world was falling apart and dial up Jasmine in Japan! She didn’t even have her number.
But, she guessed that Rebecca still had a right to believe what she did. She sighed as she laid back holding the phone up and idly scrolling through the apps. She was not really looking for anything in particular, she just wanted an excuse to have her phone open.
Bzzz!!
Quickly she shifted over the her new text message…
I'm an idiot. So... do you have someone new? Did you?
She smirked. “That’s an understatement.”
She really wouldn’t text that to Rebecca. Now was not the best time for name calling since everything felt so absolutely precarious. It was like balancing on the edge of a cliff. One wrong step and everything could end up back to square one. And Agnes, well, she was not so sure she was ready to move on from Rebecca. Not yet.
But she stared at that question. It seemed so…loaded. Why would Rebecca want to know her status. She could feel her heart racing at the prospects. She was still hurting over what Rebecca did after the dream, but they could talk about that in a second. Instead, she merely responded with:

No. No one.
So "feel like a whore," it would seem! And indeed she did; it was not like Rebecca moved on emotionally, as was apparent after her talk with Lexi. Agnes's response was definitive; somehow Rebecca knew that there were no hormon-driven mistakes for her in the months between seeing one another.
Maybe Rebecca could avoid mentioning those mistakes for at least a little longer... until things were in the right place? (What place that was, she had no idea, but she hoped it existed.)
Oh. Have you... moved on?
Rebecca could possibly handle news that Agnes had a fling or maybe even another relationship. (It would have hurt like hell, but she would take it after everything she did on her path to understanding how she felt.) It would have hurt more to know Agnes was past her emotionally.
Damn it, Agnes hated not having a bathroom that was actually attached to the room she stayed in. That was one of the many things that she missed about the mansion. At least she had a bathroom she could escape to when she needed to. Unfortunately Juilliard was like many campus dorms, the bathrooms had to be shared and they were down the hall. Agnes ran as fast as she could and thankfully there were not too many people using it at the time.
After quickly washing her hands and grumbling about how stupid this format of facility was, Agnes high tailed it back to her dorm room. Quietly, she slipped back in, not wanting to wake up Felicia again.
Bzzz!!!
“Agnes! Are you kidding me?!” she heard a sleepy, angry voice shout out from the bottom bunk.
“Sorry, Felicia! Sorry! Shouldn’t have had that ginger ale,” she muttered as she slipped past her friends groggy, angry swipe, and climbed the bunk bed.
Slipping back under her sheets, she sighed as she picked up her phone and checked Rebecca’s latest response.
Oh. Have you…moved on? From me?
Agnes, unsure why, just had to smirk. Did she really think that she could move on so quickly from Rebecca? Seriously? It was not like Rebecca was just some fling that Agnes could move on in only a span of two months. Though Agnes was sure that she was ready to, she couldn’t help but realize that maybe she was just kidding herself. It actually felt good to converse with her former girlfriend again. Maybe they could even graduate to talking to one another, face-to-face, without turning beet red.
She sighed as she started her response.
Haha. It is going to take more than just two months to get over what we had, Rebecca. We we’re talking about moving in together. You can’t just move on and be with someone else in that short span of time. Silly. How dare you imply I’m so easy. Ha Ha.

Do-dododo-Do-do-Do-doo!
Do-dododo-Do-do-Do-doo!
Rebecca was splashing water on her face when she heard the chiming coming from her room once more. Hearing it twice meant two messages were sent in succession. What could need two messages? Rebecca was thankful for her bathroom being connected to her room. How awkward would it have been to bring a conversation like that one into public?
Rebecca jumped onto her bed, (grabbing her phone before she landed so she did not repeat the same mistake twice.)
Haha. It is going to take more than just two months to get over what we had, Rebecca. We we’re talking about moving in together. You can’t just move on a
nd be with someone else in that short span of time. Silly. How dare you imply I’m so easy. Ha Ha.
Rebecca's heart sank. The comment would be very funny if it did not unintentionally paint Rebecca as... well, what she had been. How exactly was she supposed to be honest when Agnes accidentally loaded the conversation against her?
It was worth remembering that Rebecca was still feeling the effects of beer and rum punch.
Ha. Of course. I just meant emotionally. But everyone makes impulsive decisions when emotional, so itd be crazy to hold those against someone. If it happened, I mean.
[Send]
Maybe her mental proofreader had a weakness for rum, because she must have called out sick.
Agnes was still chuckling. To think that Rebecca actually thought she had moved on so fast. There had to be tie to mourn, didn’t there? They had gone through hell to get together, they had several wonderful months together and then everything ended so dramatic and suddenly. It just didn’t make sense that Agnes would move on that quickly. Not after her experiences.
But she had to sigh. The conversation was taking a far different turn then she could have ever expected. Was there really a recolleciliation on their horizons? After all this time, were they really started the path back towards being together.
Deep down, Agnes didn’t know. But, there was the smallest and tiniest spark in her that certainly hoped so. Hopefully that spark would grow.
Bzzz!!
Agnes blinked, shaking away starry-eyed thoughts as she plucked up her phone. Hugging her pillow to her chest, Agnes turned on her side as she pulled up the next message.
Ha. Of course. I just meant emotionally. But everyone makes impulsive decisions when emotional, so itd be crazy to hold those against someone. If it happened, I mean.
…
Agnes didn’t know why there was a slight tingling in the back of her head. For some reason she found herself staring at the sentence, reading it over and over again; dissecting it of every piece of grammar and nuance it had. And still, for whatever reason, no matter how she spun it or imparted a tone to it, it made her suspicious.
“Huh.” she said to herself.
A good 30 minutes rolled by of Agnes just lying back, dangling the phone between her fingers as she tried to figure out what to say next. But she just couldn’t get past what Rebecca had said. “If it happened”? Did…something happen?
Curiosity finally got the better of her and before she knew it she was typing…

Time was ticking by very slowly, which was the least encouraging sign of the night. Rebecca tried to stay out of her own head by reading funny articles online on her phone. Then she looked through the blogs she followed, checked the premier league standings and watched a viewtube video or two. Even after all of those stall tactics, her inbox held no new messages.
Did Agnes go to sleep? It was late. Should Rebecca just take the chance and go to sleep, hoping to wake up to a reply in the morning? God, how she simply wished her phone would ring!
Do-dododo-Do-do-Do-doo!
Becca…did you move on? Emotionally...or physically?
Oh God, how she simply wished her phone conveniently dropped into a volcano!
Agnes saw through Rebecca's failure to subtly introduce her moments of shame, and Rebecca was left looking over the text. Was there even a right way to respond to that?
After twelve minutes and seven revisions, she finally had her best attempt.
Agnes could feel her heart speeding up. She just couldn’t anticipate what Rebecca was going to say. She knew what she hoped that she would say, that she didn’t. But there was always the option of getting the opposite side of that coin. She could always learn that Rebecca had moved on. But, if that were true, then how could she had just blurted out that she missed her only a couple of days ago? For Agnes, two months of separation wasn’t enough time to get that close to someone else. At least to her it didn’t feel right.
She could only wonder if she was wrong about that. No, she couldn’t be, right? If she really cared for someone, there should be a period of mourning, right? Then again, it is not as it she pined after she broke up with Jasmine. She really cared about her and yet she was able to move onto Rebecca after scarcely a week.
But still, it was not like her relationship with Jasmine was perfect. Yes, she cared about Jasmine but she didn’t love her as deeply as she loved Rebecca. No, it was just too quick to move on after this break up. There was no way that two months were enough.
Bzzz!!!
Never emotionally. I just couldn't.
…
Agnes could feel the tears welling up in the corners of her eyes. She blinked a few times to move past them before she finally focused enough to looked down at the screen and carefully type out her next question so that Rebecca would please stop beating around the bush.
Did you sleep with anyone else?
She was so afraid of this question. Mainly because..she already had an inkling to its answer.
