The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Jude was a grown up and that meant he made his suicide from a coffee bar instead of a soda fountain. French vanilla, Irish cream, Belgian chocolate… his favorites were the "foreign" ones. He was putting one more type of coffee in his coffee cup when an interesting situation developed at the register. The old lady wanted to pay by check. Who paid by check anymore?
Jude whisked to her rescue with a twenty dollar bill and a smile. He quit smiling when he had to fork over another twenty and a few singles to shore up the rest of the bill. Geez! Gas was expensive!
The frenchman tucked the old bag into her car with a light heart and a few bruises from her handbag for thanks. Welp. He'd done his good deed for the day. Jude wrapped his hands around his hot drink and started a long and meandering path home.
Soon Jude would meet someone who would help him find Ghost. His future had showed him talking with a girl while it was still cold. This girl eventually led him to Ghost. That was the story and he was excited to see it unfold.
It was certainly cold now that it was getting dark, hence the coffee. Still, he took his time and every street, shopping strip and blind alley he could plausibly enter on his way to Future Sight. He wanted to give fate as much opportunity for him to cross paths with that girl as possible. So what if he had wandered the streets late into the evening for the last week and a half looking for her? He would find her sometime this winter. The future said so.

Gwen reached into her pocket and pulled out the last of her pocket money. Spreading it out on top of the trash can she noticed how little there really was. She maybe had enough for a meal or two if she was frugal. She sighed as she looked up at the cloudy sky and noticed just how much it looked like rain. She hated having to stay outside in the rain. Not to mention it was December and therefor it was not only rain but cold rain. She had had ot pawn her more water resistant jacket to get this warmer one which meant she needed to find a way to sleep inside or she was going to freeze to death. Sure she could go to a shelter but Gwen kind of detested them. They were just depressing and everyone was trying to help you and feeling bad for you in them. Shelters were always a last resort in her eyes. She looked around the shadowed ally for an idea. It was too late to go begging in time square. For some reason the night time tourists were far less giving. And most of the rest of her usual spots would be deserted or not safe at this time of day. There really was only one option for her. She crossed the ally to grab a pipe before moving out into the entrance, hiding the pipe behind her back. All she had to do was wait and eventually some unsuspecting person would walk by and she would strike. The particular street she was on was rather deserted and wasn’t really on a cop heavy part of town so she wasn’t overly worried about getting caught. This was New York city after all and when you were outside of heavy tourist areas most people didn’t really give a damn as long as it wasn’t happening to them.\
She had to have stood there waiting for a good 15 minutes before she saw her mark. He was an average kind of man with an attractive looking face. He was dressed in a tee shirt and jeans with a blue canvas jacket to keep out the cold. In a quick look up and down she could tell he wasn’t much taller than she was, but he did have a rather nice face. He looked like the kind of guy she would have gone out with if she wasn’t about to mug him.
She moves quickly to put herself in front of him. She used all the practice she had gained from living on the streets since she was 13 to make herself seem far more scary and intimidating then she really was as she held the pipe out in front of her. She had learned long ago that most people weren’t afraid of a little girl with a pipe unless you made them thing you could kick their butt with a look. “Give me all your money. She spoke with a tone of anger and force. Another thing she had learned to make sure to do. Her voice was rather low for being a girl but it wasn’t the most intimidating thing. In truth she was actually not very scary at all unless he made herself so. It was rather interesting how far sounding and looking all angry, tough and crazed could go.
"Oh." He had been looking for her. Really, he had. But after so many nights of not finding her, he was sort of caught unaware. Also, the pipe. That was not exactly how he imagined finding the girl who would help him find his Ghost.
"Uh. Sure. I don't have a lot, but you are welcome to it." His soft r's were plainly indicative of his non-American upbringing. Jude had to juggle his coffee in order to reach into the depth of his jeans pocket and fish out a velcro wallet with a stegosaurus on it. Hew knew from sad experience that the wallet contained about 6 bucks in bills and 2 in coins. This was such a bum robbery.
For a man getting mugged, Jude was awfully calm. Not that she wasn't intimidating. The intensity of her eyes and the jagged end of the pipe were not two things that Jude wanted to mess with, but Ghost had taught him that kindness could go a long way. Jude wanted this girl on his side. That way he could rescue Ghost and get more little nuggets of wisdom like that one.
"Here." He held out the wallet with his left hand. His power flickered under his skin with contained hunger. She was a mutant and powerful enough for his power to want hers. That was good. That meant his future vision was on track. This had to be her.

Gwen looked at the man before her suspiciously. What the hell?! This wasn’t the first time she had had a wallet just handed over to her but it was however the first time one had been handed over so calmly. She had to have picked a crazy didn’t she? This guy was either certifiable or he had an edge she didn’t notice before. She eyed him up and down as he reached into pocket to find his wallet. She reared up the pipe ready to strike if there was anything other than a wallet coming out of that pocket. She would hit him over the head as hard as she could and then bolt. Yes, she would knock him cold and run as fast as she could in the other direction before he even had time to react. Oh boy wasn’t she surprised when what came out of his pocket was a stegosaurus Velcro wallet. Yup. This guy was nuts.
“Are you 10?! What right minded adult has a stegosaurus wallet?” Getting lost in the moment she began to wave the pipe around as she continued on her rant, “And for that matter why aren’t you scared? I just jumped out of a dark alley wielding a lead pipe that I am totally ready to bludgeon you with and you don’t’ even flinch. What is up with that?” She probably should have stayed on guard but when she got into it like this there really was no stopping her and usually she got so lost in her own self that she kind of forgot about the impending danger. Years of being on your own made you a little jaded and unafraid. “Do you like have a gun under that coat or a badge in your pocket or something?” It was in that something that something occurred to Gwen. Maybe he was a mutant. Gwen went silent and the pipe fell to her side as she went into a trace and her eyes glazed over just long enough to find the man in front of her. She could see the island of Manhattan as she quickly zoomed in on the neighborhood she was in and then the street she was on. Her vision landed on the man in front of her before she came out of the trance only moments after going into it. “A Copy Cat. Great!”
10? He was a good, solid 12 thankyouverymuchrobberlady. "It izzn't enough to rob me, but you must mock me as well?" Seriously. The nerve of some people. He gave her his wallet with such good grace, the least she could have done was to accept it and say thank you. Yeesh.
And he wasn't scared because he had seen the future. His future and hers intertwined and eventually led to Ghost. He hadn't expected the pipe bit and He definitely didn't see Ghost again until there were green things growing, but yes. This was the girl. The suspicious robbing-him-blind and mocking him girl.
"I'm no cop." Heh. Wouldn't he make for a fabulous policeman? "I work at a fortune teller's shop and..." And she totally wasn't even listening to him anymore. Her eyes had gone kind of hazy.
"Are you okay?"
> “A Copy Cat. Great!”
Blink blink. "And you're good at finding people." Had she had a future vision too? At least now they were even. "Can I have my wallet back yet?" This wasn't going at all as he thought it would.

Finding people? “How did you know that?” She may have said his mutation out loud but she hadn’t said what hers was. What did this guy know? He could have the powers of a telepath and have read her mind. Hmmm… What would her mind sound like? Eh… whatever it sounded like this guy knew she could find people and that was not okay. Part of her wanted to grab his shirt and drag him to somewhere where he couldn’t get away. Somewhere where she could find out what he knew and who he worked for if there was anyone. She had lived her life in a very particular way in order to never be found and so far it had worked. But if she did dare to touch him he may take her power and it wouldn’t matter where she hid. As far as she knew her mutation was rare and the only of its kind within the city of New York. Or at least it was the last time she had checked. If he got her power it wouldn’t be hard for him to hunt her down and take her back to where she never wanted to go again.
Gwen started to back away deciding it was best not to risk exposure. “I’ll give you back your wallet and everything in it if you promise to either leave my mutation alone or at the very least not use it against me. I live the way I live because I don’t want to be found, understand. You can blow up your brain trying to find every mutant in the city for all I care. Just leave me alone okay?” She started to back down the alley and threw the wallet back at the man. She should have turned and ran but there really was nowhere for her to go. She started making her way to the fire escape that would have led her to the safety of the roof tops but that was still a few feet away and there was the matter of having to pull it down. All she could do was move slowly and hope for the best while not taking her eyes off of the man in front of her.
"How did you know I am a copier?" Seriously. This girl had to be messed up in the head. There seemed to be a lot of that going around these days.
And now she was afraid of him? He hadn't done anything remotely threatening. All he'd done so far was hand over his wallet. Okay. Jude needed to calm the situation down and as sad it was, he was pretty sure that he needed to abandon his coffee. Jude set the steaming cup of warmth down and held his hands up.
"Look, you're robbing me. You have ze pipe. I'm not going to hurt you." She had all the power here in this situation. Seriously.
She stepped back and Jude stepped forward. Slowly. As non-threatening as a step can be.
His first point of business? "I would like my wallet back because it's cool." Totally way cool. If she didn't think so than she just wasn't as cool as he was. "You can have ze cash. Sorry sere isn't more, but I don't work for anybody who's trying to steal you or track you or put you in a box. I work minimum wage for a fortune teller." Minimum wage being the reason for the lack of cash, not more ammunition for her to make fun of him.
"I've been looking srough ze future for someone important to me and the closest I can find iz you. So you must be someone who can find people." That was the abridged version. And she'd already admitted to being a mutant who had the potential to explode her own brain by looking for mutants. So that was cool. He could just copy her power and be on his merry little way.
Still, he wanted to justify himself. She looked so… scared wasn't the right word. Maybe cornered? Like a wild animal? He still hadn't done anything that he thought was threatening. "I sink someone kidnapped her." Or killed her. Again, he was sticking with the shorter and happier side of this story. "So ze last sing I want to do is kidnap someone in order to save someone kidnapped." Did that make sense? "Two wrongs don't make it right."
So… could she stop running now? He could put down his unarmed hands and she could put down her pipe and they could talk about this like adults, but only if she wanted to.

“I just did okay. It’s irrelevant. Do you agree or not?” Gwen stood her ground and stared back at him. Her stare was intense and purposeful. She wanted the right answer and she wanted it now. She started to back away from him reaching her hand out to offer back the wallet. She held it between her index and middle figures as she tried her best to keep as little of her hand on it as possible. The last thing she wanted was this guy to touch her and she was going to do everything in her power to stop he from even trying. She eyed the coffee as she set it down beside him. This was obviously a plot to free up his hands just in case. Gwen tightened her grip on the Pipe as is lingered over her head her other hand still stretched out to return the still full wallet. She stepped back he followed. Seriously didn’t this guy get that all she wanted to do was give him back his wallet and ber on her way. There really was no need for this silliness. If he would just take the damn thing this would all be over. Gwen took another tentative step back in the direction of the fire escape.
Her eyes narrowed and looked between him and the wallet, “I’m not stopping you here.” She tossed the wallet lightly so it hit him in the chest, “I don’t want the cash okay. I mean how much can I guy with a dino wallet have in it anyway. A few bucks?" In her experience when someone couldn’t afford a leather wallet they generally didn’t have enough cash to keep in it if they did buy one. “Honestly if you did work for someone that was looking for me I highly doubt that you would be telling me so please excuse me if I don’t believe you.”
Oh great now he was tell her his life story. Why do people think that complete strangers care at all about what is wrong with them? “I can’t find anyone okay. And really? Two wrongs? There are plenty of people who would kidnap me in a second if they thought that it would help them find a loved one.” Gwen backed her way to the side of the dumpster and started making so she could lift herself onto it and then onto the fire escape, “And I really don’t’ know you so I have no idea if anything you are saying to me is even remotely true. So, sorry, can’t help you.” Gwen dropped the pipe beside her and quickly pulled herself up onto the dumpster and up the ladder.
Jude fumbled to catch his wallet before it hit the icky ground. It was close, but on the third bobble, he managed to get a good grip on the thing. "First you're robbing me. Now you're accusing me of lying. You're scared stupid." As in, she was acting irrationally.
Poor little dinosaur. So unloved. He hadn't foreseen that. All he'd seen is that they eventually worked together. Like friends would. "How could I prove to you what you want to know?" He stuffed his wallet in his back pocket and tried to get a feel for any mutants that might be lurking nearby. She wouldn't let him touch her, but that didn't mean he couldn't still get her power. It was a risk worth taking in order to find Ghost.
And… now he watched her climb up a trash can to try to reach a fire escape… what a nutter!
"At least tell me How I can avoid exploding my head withs your power? If you don't want to help me, fine. But I like my brains between my ears." He folded his arms across his chest and considered going back for his coffee. She obviously didn't want him to follow her. He didn't want to spook her. What was left besides to watch her escape into the night like the pipe-wielding thief jerk she was.

“Buddy you don’t know a damn thing about me. I could have a doctorate and have had a lot of bad luck in my life. Just cause I don’t trust people and live on the streets does not mean that I’m an idiot.” Gwen had turned to face him from her perch on the top of the dumpster. One of her hands was still on a rung of the hanging ladder just in case she needed to pull herself onto the roof. There was nothing wrong with being cautious and just a little bit paranoid. “And everyone lies. If you think otherwise you’re the fool. I just except this fact and assume that you are lying because even if you are telling the truth there will always be a lie mixed in somewhere.”
She began pulling herself up the side of the 10 story building one rung at a time as he continued to speak. He was an idiot if he didn’t yet realize how futile it was to try and get her to trust him. She was really only paying half attention when his words pulled her toward him and she stopped half way up the ladder. She was a good 15 feet off the ground now but that didn’t stop her from flipping herself so her back was facing the ladder itself, her hands holding on to either side of the cold metal bars. “You can’t. If you try to use it for whatever you are trying to you will give yourself a bunch of brain bleeds and then die. So you can take it but don’t expect to survive without knowing how to use it.” She had never really thought about what would happen if a copier took her powers and then tried to use it without knowing how to. She had almost died in the hospital when she was 8 and couldn’t control them. What was to say that some adult copier wouldn’t do the same but without the added bonus of being in a hospital as your brain bleeds to death.
"You are right. I don't know anysing about you beyond what you're showing me." Which was a girl so scared and so full of problems that Jude was willing to let her go. Did he needed to re-insult her? Jude thought not. And he'd never said she was an idiot. Only that she was scared into acting stupid.
With his coffee recovered, Jude tested the temperature. Perfect for sipping now that it had time to cool but a few more minutes and it would be too cold. He ignored her lecture on lies. He wasn't lying. As far as he knew, he hadn't lied to her yet. She didn't have to believe that. He knew the truth.
"Yeah, yeah." He waved off her threats of brain bleeds. "I've had mental powers before. Yours can't be zat much scarier." Not that he'd taken it yet. It would be better to be closer before he tried and she kept running away.

This kid was weird and maybe a little crazy and cocky. He really thought that being able to sence every living mutant around the island of Manhattan was not going to do anything funkier to his brain then any old phsycic power. Sure she may be a little over exaggerating when she says that it is more dangerous then any other power. And really any psychic power will put a strain on your brain, but she didn’t have any of those. She had the one she had and to her it seemed dangerous. She had met many a telepath in her life and they all seemed to be pretty good at what they did. For them blocking out everyone around them seemed possible. For her sadly it wasn’t and she highly doubted that it would ever be. She had tried all her life to block out the murmur in the back of her head that gave her such terrible headaches and had somehow never been able to. No matter how strong the rest of her power got that never cahged. Sure most of the time she couldn’t’ even hear it it was such a part of her life but it was still there digging a hole in her brain. In all truth the girl had long since decided that her power would likely wear away at her brain until it killed her even if she wasn’t using it all the time any more.
“You really think you are so great that you can handle being able to feel the whole of the mutants of New York City all at once. All the time. Every moment of every day. I have met many physics in my life and they are not really the same. Maybe at first but after they get control they get to shut it all out.” Gwen was so annoyed with this guy that she didn’t really care anymore. If he thought he could handle it he could have it. There was no saying she didn’t warn him and if he died it was on his hands not hers. She jumped down from the dumpster she had been standing on and moved to stand a few feet away directly in front of him, “I never get to shut it out no matter how strong I get. So you can go ahead and take my power mister smarty pants. If you think you can handle it so well then I am sure you will have no problem figuring out how it works on your own without hurting yourself.” Gwen just stood waiting for some kind of answer. He could either take it or not. That was up to him. But either way she wasn’t going to help him figure it out. Someone so cocky that they think they can handle anything should have to figure it out on their own if they wanted to earn it.
Oh. So she could feel the whole city? That was cool in theory. It seemed in practice that the skill was not super great for mental stability.
Example A: this girl who was sacred and distrustful, but was somehow unable to leave Jude alone. By insult or intrigue somehow he had managed to get her attention. Now she was feeding him information about her power. He had either gained her trust or made her angry enough that she'd forgotten to be scared of him.
Not that he understood why she had been scared of him in the first place.
> "If you think you can handle it so well then I am sure you will have no problem figuring out how it works on your own without hurting yourself."
"Fine. I will." He would have folded his arms in exasperation if that wouldn't require coffee juggling. Instead he offered his free hand to her. His power, greedy as ever, strained at his skin to gobble up this new power, but he had trained in order to keep touch safe for Muse. A little psychic locator who had mental issues shouldn't make him lose control.
"What's your name?" He couldn't remember in all the pipe threatening if she'd ever given her name to him. Which probably meant that she hadn't.

Gwen stood with her left hip cocked to the side and her arms crossed in front of her chest. She looked at the outstretched hand with a raised eyebrow. She knew she had just invited him to take her power but she wasn’t sure if she wanted to let him touch her. She had no idea what would happen to him or her. She had spent a lot of time avoiding copy cats out of fear that her ‘owners’, would somehow find a way to get one to use her own power against her. It was a silly thing to worry about and highly unlikely to happen but Gwen could be a little paranoid. She reached out her hand to slowly take his and shook it with a smirk, “Lucile… Lucile Ball.”
Gwen moved away from him again and continued to smile crossing her hands in front of her chest once more. “Well enjoy.” She moved back to the top of the dumpster, “Oh and don’t come crying to me when this goes wrong.” She started climbing the fire escape as she continued to speak down at him. “And if I’m wrong and it doesn’t woot for you.”
She actually took his hand. From the way Lucille hesitated, Jude thought she might try to rob him again. Or run. As it was, she shook his hand and let go of it just as soon as was possible. Like he had cooties.
"Zank you, Lucille." And he meant it. Even if the power was horrible he needed it. "I will do my best not to bothzer you anymore."
His power did whatever his power did. On contact, it flexed and swelled and slowly the power receded like a tidal wave or a well fed pet. It wouldn't bother him for a power change until it caught wind of the next big juicy power.
A change in power was never instantaneous for Jude. His previous power of speed didn't really feel like anything beyond a certain amount of nervous muscle twitching. It was hard to tell when that was slipping away. Instead, it was easier to tell when Lucielle's power started engaging.
It was slow at first, but he noticed a certain... tension. Like someone was close by. Like lots of someones might be close by. He wasn't even trying to use the power and already he could tell that there was something about Lucy that tickled her own power.
He sipped his coffee while he tried to figure out what it was about the girl that interested this power. Lucille saw fit to get back in her high horse dumpster which was far way from Jude and probably safer for the both of them.
She had warned him so he was trying to take it slow. But she was there. And there was something that just felt... interesting. Jude's eyebrows came down as he watched her. There was more that was interesting. More than just Lucy... needless to say he was distracted and stood quite motionless in the alleyway as if he were frozen.
