I Should Have Had More Tea... (Ashton)

What a night. A dull headache pounded behind Quin's eyes and she sighed and squinted behind the dark sunglasses that were as much a part of a Detective's Uniform as the badge. Sleep last night would have been great... she couldn't help but think as her partner maneuvered their trusty Taurus through the mid-morning New York City traffic.

Interviewing potential witnesses was a tedious job at best, and when it was over something as mundane as a serial cat burglar in Manhattan, it was worse. Most, if not all, of the upper-class apartment tenants was simply convinced that their treasure was going to be the next to fall prey to whoever was breaking into apartments and stealing entire safes from alcoves in walls.

Quin had bigger fish to fry. How long had it been since Na-....Stephen, had stood on the threshold to her apartment and been turned away? Days? Weeks? Hell, had it been a year already? It didn't matter, Quin's mood had worsened with each successive day as she tried to figure out what she was going to do, and the lack of sleep wasn't helping. This was a moral, and personal dilemma, and the nature of the beast made it hard to confide in anyone.

The light turned in front of them, and the front car didn't move. Quin stared at it harder, and it still didn't move. Finally, the thing crept its way into the intersection and made the slowest left turn in the history of traffic.

Then the light turned red.

"UGH!" the redhead exclaimed, throwing her hands in the air before slumping back into her seat, "If I wanted to spend my day stuck at stop lights, I'd have signed up for a traffic detail. This is fricken ridiculous."

Yup. Arms were crossed. Full on huff mode, engaged.
