The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

There was a thrashing of covers and a moment of blind terror as the young gargoyle came out of a particularly vivid nightmare, her heart hammering in her chest erratically. There was a thin sheen of sweat upon Gina's brow, and tears pricked the corner of her eye. Still in a half-asleep stupor, her gaze darted around the darkened room, trying to assess her surroundings. There was a momentary panic when she realized that she was not in her own bed, much less her own bedroom; this anxiety quelled when she spotted Agnes in the bed parallel to her own. Oh, Xavier's.
Gina rubbed her face blearily, wiping away the escaped tears and mopping up the sweat. She forced herself to breath evenly, to slow down her racing heart, but her hands still trembled, giving away her anxiety.
Gina groggily peeled herself out of her warm bed, flatterning her rumpled pajamas with her palms. She wore and unseasonable pajama set, which consisted of a rather baggy, button-up shirt and a loose pair of shorts that reached her mid-thigh and were fastened around her waist by a drawstring. Gina gave her reflection a solid once-over before opting to pry an off-white afghan out of the tangled mess of blankets, drawing it over her shoulders like a cloak.
Gina moved silently across the room, stepping carefully as she went, gaze drifting towards her alarm clock. The bright green letters informed her that it was almost a quarter past one. With a groan, she moved to the door and slid it open slowly, keeping an eye on her roommate until she stepped out into the hall and slid the door shut, latching it shut silently.
The chill that greated the teenager as she lingered in the darkened hall, at which she sighed. She darted down the hall with swift, silent footsteps, the afghan billowing up behind her. She slowed to a tiptoe as she passed the staff quarters, and then darted again when she was in the clear, closing the distance between her room and the living room.
Gina entered the abandoned living room with a reverence worthy of a holy place, crossing the room to a small fridge and bending on one knee to open it and draw out a couple of water bottles. She stood back up slowly, cracking open the first bottle as she strolled to the couch. She took a swig, the cool water cleansing her throat of the dryness that the nightmare had left behind..
Gina sunk into the couch, sitting at the far end so that she could slouch against the arm rest. Her legs were folded beneath her, and her tail was wrapped about her legs.. She moved the blanket so that it was draped over her lap, and retrieved the remote from the neighboring seat cushion.Taking the risk of getting caught, she flicked the television on. The images melted onto the screen and into existence, and Gina immediately recognized the show-- it was an old episode of Mythbusters. Gina turned the volume down so that the hosts' voices were inaudible, only murmurs at the edge of her hearing range, and set the remote down. To others, it would be quiet but audible. She set the remote down, took another swig of water, and let her mind wander.
Her mind lingered on her family and friends, whom she missed dearly, and on her home. She was homesick, yes, but didn't speak of it to her peers. Most weren't on good conditions with their birth families, so they probably wouldn't understand. Gina gave a wry chuckle, took another swig, and turned her attention to the t.v., unaware of the presence behind her.
A roommate. Agnes remembered how she felt the second she heard that word a day or two ago. After the incident with Faye, the runaway wanted little if anything to do with most of the students. So far she had little if any friends. Most of the kids seemed to ignore her, practically willing her away into the cornfields, but Agnes did her best not to take it to heart. She was enrolled at this school now, she had a room and she didn’t have to pay for anything here! It seemed too good to last forever…and she was right. Before she knew it one of the other staff members in the mansion knocked on her door and announced that she would be getting a roommate. Agnes was of course flustered because who would want to live with her? Didn’t they know about her abilities? Bugs were bound to be around no matter what so what could she possibly do? Just never go back into the room?
For a whole day Agnes was resentful of that news and wanted nothing to do with any roommate. Then…before she knew it, Gina was standing in front of her door. The same gargoyle mutant she had helped out none too long ago with getting back home. She was only a couple years younger than her but she did seem to be a little naïve about the city.
There was shock when they first met, followed by a laugh about coincidences…then…they realized they had to live together. Agnes did her best to tell Gina about her abilities, to say that she would try to keep the bugs at bay. So far Gina had not complained…but this was supposed to be their first night sleeping in the same room.
That was when she heard the sounds of someone leaving the room.
Woken from her peaceful sleepy, Agnes groggily looked around, trying to find the source of the noise that had stirred her. Was it one of her bugs, being too loud and buzzy in the room? Was it just another student walking around outside? Maybe it was just the sounds of the old and drafty mansion? She didn’t know what it could be but as her blurry eyes slowly focused as she turned to see if her partner were still sleeping…and saw that the bed was empty. For a second she was alarmed and sat up in bed, rubbing the sleep from her eyes.
“Gina?” she asked quietly as she slipped out of bed.
Dressed in an old, tattered back of loose, sweat pants and a thin, white shirt with a honey bee on it (ironic?), she looked around their room and saw that Gina was indeed gone. She wasn’t in the rest room, nor anywhere else in the room. A little worried that maybe the girl had disappeared, Agnes stepped out into the hall, running her fingers through her hair to straighten it out and made her way towards where she knew the staff offices were. But just as she was heading down the hall, she heard the sound of a television set being on. It was late and she doubted that anyone would be watching it, but she decided to investigate.
Peeking into the common room, she saw the familiar, gargoyle-like sight of Gina as she sat on the couch, watching a muted science show, and drinking a bottle of water. Silently Agnes walked up behind her, and with concern called to her…

Gina fastened the lid to the bottle and began to spin it around so that water sloshed within, carefully balancing the bottle between her claws. She yawned a little, rubbing her eyes with a free hand.
"Gina?"
Gina jumped in alarm, nearly toppling off of the couch. She flailed a little and managed to steady herself, whirling around. She hadn't heard the speaker coming, and was therefore quite startled. And, though her voice was familiar, in her groggy stupor she almost believed that a teacher had caught her. Agnes stood behind, and her brows were stitched in concern as she continued, "Are you okay?"
"Oh God, Agnes," Gina whispered, a laugh in her tone as she retrieved her bottle. In her alarm, the water bottle had been flung to the floor, "Damn well near gave me a heart attack, sneaking up on me like that." Her laughter subsided with a sigh, and Gina turned so that she sat sideways on the couch, so that she could see Agnes.
"Yeah, I'm fine," Gina murmured, pulling a Scrunchi from her wrist so as to tie her unruly coils of hair back from her face, "I had a bad dream and kind of freaked myself out-- couldn't get bak to sleep, and needed some water, so I came out here."
She glanced aside, towards the television program, and then back at Agnes. Her brow stitched sympathetically, and she apologized, "Sorry about waking you up at such an ungodly hour. I'll be back as soon as I'm done with my water."
It had been a nasty dream, and it still lingered at the edge of Gina's mind, hence her jumpiness. In her dream, her town had been attacked by a particularly violent group of anti-mutant activists, and not only had they destroyed her hometown, but the mutant inhabitants and their families had been attacked and subsequently killed. Gina, as a mutant capable of flight, had been able to escape, but her mother and her brothers had been among the ones that were claimed by the nightmare. This had all left her feeling rather sick and unable to find rest once more.
And, though Gina was sorely tempted to divulge this dream and her feelings tied to it to her friend, she didn't want to bother Agnes (or anyone else) with her complaints. As if they needed her worries to worry about on top of their own problems.
>> "Oh God, Agnes…Damn well near gave me a heart attack, sneaking up on me like that."
The runaway gave her an apologetic smile as she walked around the couch and too the empty seat next to her new roommate. Though they had only met once before, the pair seemed to have hit it off pretty well. Agnes had given the young gargoyle a necklace she had found ages ago just as the she was handed a friendship bracelet in return. Even back when she was in high school and had a normal life, she never had friends that felt as good as this friendship. It was honest and trustworthy, and she knew that though her abilities were a little disgusting, the gargoyle managed to tolerate her pretty well. She had to off props to Gina for that.
But judging by the girl’s jumpiness right now, this was not just a simple case of late night jitters. Something else was on her mind, the living bug nest knew that right off the bat, but what could it be? Did Agnes even have a right to know? It could be insanely personal, but then again…sometimes the best person to vent to is someone you hardly know.
It was only then that she finally realized that Gina had finally answered her question about whether or not she was okay…
>> "Yeah, I'm fine…I had a bad dream and kind of freaked myself out-- couldn't get bak to sleep, and needed some water, so I came out here…Sorry about waking you up at such an ungodly hour. I'll be back as soon as I'm done with my water."
Bad dreams…that was something that Agnes could definitely relate to. There were still times when she woke up in a cold sweat, thinking that she could hear her mother’s, chanting voice as she tired to exorcise her of “demons”. Every time, just when thought she was getting adjusted, the dreams would come and scare her out of some much needed sleep. That was what happened whenever she let her guard down, she was reminded of the world that she had escaped.
Then it sounded to her like Gina was trying to get rid of her, to send her back to their room so that she could watch her science show about the two glasses wearing individuals in peace. But Agnes sensed more than that. Maybe Gina needed someone to vent to as well? No matter how braved the girl wanted to be, she was in this place by herself and she knew no one. It was a scary situation so maybe…all she needed was someone to be there with a good ear for listening.
Not moving from her seat, Agnes turned her attention away from the interesting show, tucked her legs under her as she adjusted her seating to look squarely at Gina.
“I’m not that sleepy anymore,” Agnes said casually as she gently draped her hand across her stomach. “Why don’t you tell me about your dream? Might help you sleep.”

Agnes circled the couch and took a seat beside her, at first training her gaze on the show before glancing over at Gina, who sat beside her. Gina felt her gaze boring into her side, but hesitated to exchange it. She finally looked over, acknowledging the other girl quietly.
"I'm not that sleepy anymore. Why don't you tell me about your dream? Might help you sleep."
Gina glanced at the television, before glancing at Agnes once more, smiling disdainfully at how drastically she reacted to her dream. It had been so vivid, but it wasn't real-- it was only dream.
"It's stupid," Gina offered, as a disclaimer. She wouldn't take offense if Agnes opted not to listen. She cleared her throat, took another swig of water, and continued, "I come from a small town in California- Mendocino. It's right on the ocean, three hours up from San Francisco, if traffic allows. It's a great place, really chill- a nice place to live if you're, y'know, different. Most everyone there is either a mutant or mutant-friendly."
"But it's a tourist town, see?" Gina explained, flapping her hands in the air as she spoke, "All sorts of people come in from all over off of Highway 1. There was never any serious trouble, spare the occasional fight, or tagging, or people yelling things out the windows. Especially when the Registration came around. But when the Registration wasn't around, things were really mellow."
"It's just, being so far from home and all, I worry about everyone," Gina mumbled bashfully, gaze darting away from Agnes' own, towards the safety of the television's glare, "I had this crazy dream in which these anti-mutant enthusiasts invaded my hometown and such. Went around like crazies, tormenting and killing people who even associated with mutants." Gina rubbed her face, which felt warm with a flush, "I mean, I got away and all, being able to fly, but my family-" Gina gave an awful sigh, letting the silence speak volumes. She polished off the first bottle of water in a final swig, crumpled the bottle in her hands, and replaced the cap.
"I'm just, y'know, a worry wart," Gina grumbled, giving a dismissive shrug. The quiver had returned in her hands, but she tucked her hands under the folds of the blanket, pretending as if the chill had driven her deeper under the afghan. Gina sighed, speaking mostly to herself and not really addressing Agnes as she muttered, "Nothing but a nasty dream."
As a mutant whose appearance was classifiably demonic, one constant worry was the anti-mutant enthusiasts, particularly those of religious persuasions. So, in a sense, the dream wasn't a particularly stupid one. Not really. Gina dared to glance back over at Agnes, her eyes like two pools of black in the darkness. She couldn't make out the expression. The sorts of situations that Gina dreamed about, though, were only dreams to her. Things she heard about on the news, but nothing that had ever touched her real life experiences.
"Awful, right?" she said with a pained smile, trying to make out her neighbor's face in the inconsistent light.
>> "It's stupid…I come from a small town in California- Mendocino. It's right on the ocean, three hours up from San Francisco, if traffic allows. It's a great place, really chill- a nice place to live if you're, y'know, different. Most everyone there is either a mutant or mutant-friendly."

But when the Registration wasn't around, things were really mellow."
"It's just, being so far from home and all, I worry about everyone,"
Agnes said nothing and merely listened to Gina’s description of her home town. She painted a really nice picture of a tolerant place that seemed to make her almost long for it. She wished that she had come from a place like that, a place of equality, where no one really held it against another that they did or who they were. It did sound like an absolute paradise, then again, Gina could just be very biased because that was her home town and she was so far away from it. Being far away from a place you used to feel comfortable that definitely put blinkers on one’s eyes.
Then again, the runaway could not really offer a good and unbiased opinion either. Her home life was anything but ideal. It was rigid, everything one did was a sin and anybody who was different was to be cast down into the fires below the earth! She grew up with that harsh upbringing and a year or so ago, she would have been right with her mother, denouncing the humanity that Gina had. After all…if it looks like a demon, it must be a demon right?
But in her short life of freedom from the oppressive grip of her parents, she learned that there was so much more to life then condemning people. She learned that many of those people who were on the fringes could be the most compassionate…and those who praised God the hardest, could be the most corrupt. At least that was the experiences of this, runaway bug nest.
She pulled herself back to reality, ignoring the sounds of the two tv hosts as they went onto their next science experiment and listened to Gina retell her dream:
>> "I had this crazy dream in which these anti-mutant enthusiasts invaded my hometown and such. Went around like crazies, tormenting and killing people who even associated with mutants…I mean, I got away and all, being able to fly, but my family…I'm just, y'know, a worry wart…Nothing but a nasty dream… Awful, right?"
Torture, killing…they were all phrases that she was all too familiar with. Subconsciously her hand reached down to her stomach where she could feel the burn scar still ablaze on her flesh. It was odd how certain memories brought memories to one’s senses. Just touching that scar through her sweater and she could hear the sizzling iron, feel that white hot pain as it washed over her like a wave, and she could even smell the cauterized flesh as it smoldered and stung her nose. It was a scent that no one should be able to experience…let alone remember. But Agnes did…all too well.
Seeing the worried look on Gina’s face, though, she had to admit that she was a little jealous. The girl had some real family connections that she missed. A family and a home that she truly did love. But that was nothing for Agnes to stay jealous about. Gina had her experiences to live with…and Agnes had her own. And for now, they were going to be roommates so that meant that they had to coexist.
An unknown feeling washed over her as she watched Gina, noting that she must have still be very tired from such a vivid dream. Remembering back to one of the few times that she did wake up from a nightmare…she did the one thing that her brother used to do for her when she was upset. Leaning over, Agnes reached out and gave Gina…what could only be described as the awkwardest of hugs. It wasn’t that she didn’t want to touch the gargoyle, it was simply that she was out of practice and didn’t want to scare her.
But still, as she attempted to hug, she whispered as earnestly and honestly as she could, “It’s okay. Sometimes dreams are just dreams. You’ll be fine…”
She meant it when she said it to Gina. She wished it were true for herself.

Agnes had held her stomach, as if suddenly siezed by a sickness, and her face, though fairly unreadable, bore a trace reminiscience. Perhaps, even fear. Gina's brow stitched a little, and she bit her lower lip. She cracked open the second bottle and took a sip, looking down towards the blanket that rested on her lap.
That's the last time I'm ever bringing my family up again.
It was wierd, living a lifestyles so contrary to the style that other mutants lived. Having a mother that still talked to her, having brothers that loved her. Yeah, her father had been MIA since the day she was born, but she had most of a family. But to have no one-- Gina screwed the lid back onto her bottle, peering at Agnes. Did she have anyone, any family that she still considered family? Gina found more ease in claiming that she had no father than explaining to people that he'd run off a few days after she was born... how many mutants did she know that would claim to have no family?
Agnes suddenly reached over and twined her arms around Gina's neck, in a motion so awkward that it took Gina a moment to realize that Agnes was actually initiating a hug. Agnes said something, in a voice so quiet that Gina couldn't hear her. But she felt the abnormal cadence of a whisper to her side, where Agnes' face was, and she assumed that by the hug, it was some sort of reassurence. At least, she hoped it was.
"Thanks, Agnes," Gina muttered hesitantly, the words falling haltingly out of her mouth, as if she was speaking with marbles tucked in her cheeks. She returned the hug, small arms embracing the older girl without the same awkwardness or hesitance as Agnes's hug. She was very much a huggy, touchy-feely kind of girl, and actually welcomed these sort of gestures.
As Gina undid herself from the hug, she smiled a little at Agnes, brows still stitched. Something wasn't quite right, though she couldn't put a finger on what. Agnes seemed distracted, but Gina didn't press for the reason as to why. There was some comfort in anonimity, and all things would be learned through time.
Abnormally silent, Gina took another swig of water. Maybe this was what Xavier's was about. The sense of community, the familial feeling between unrelated individuals, and knowing that you belong no matter what you could do or what you looked like. She smiled at the idea, and felt suddenly compelled to bring the idea up to her roomie.
"Hey, Agnes?" Gina inquired, letting her head roll to face in her direction, "This is going to sound totally out of left field, but what say you and I be... like, I dunno, sisters?" She cracked a smile at the word sisters, "I know it's really random and all, but I think it'd be cool."
Yeah…the hug was awkward, but at least the intention was there to try and help a friend feel better. She hadn’t known the gargoyle for long, but she did feel that her sunny outlook on life could make anyone feel good. Even Agnes herself felt like there was some magical effect that Gina had on her through her smiling face and happy eyes. But to see her upset like this, over an anxiety-riddled dream brought out some of the good in the runaway. She wanted to help Gina and hoped that the hug, no matter how awkward or strange if felt for either of them, would in some way manage to bring a smile to the younger mutant’s face.
Apparently it must have helped in some way because before Agnes knew it, Gina had asked her a rather big question…
>> "Hey, Agnes?...This is going to sound totally out of left field, but what say you and I be... like, I dunno, sisters?...I know it's really random and all, but I think it'd be cool."
Sisters…
The word bounced around in Agnes’ mind as she tried to wrap her thoughts around it. Gina really just said that she wanted to be like her sister? How long has it been since she was known as a sister? Her brother disappeared at least a month before she ran away from home so the word was becoming alien to her. And yet here, this younger mutant seemed to really want to make that happen. For a moment the runaway believed that it was nothing more than a joke, something to lash out against the strange hug the pair of them had just shared. But quickly Agnes halted that belief. She couldn’t be judgmental here, nor could she automatically shoot down what the girl had just asked her. Maybe…that really was what she wanted…
Then again, Gina didn’t know the whole story about her. She didn’t know about the abuse she had suffered, nor the real dynamics of her mutation. Yes, bugs were always around, but Gina didn’t know the nature of her power. She didn’t know that the bugs actually also came from within. That they lived within her, swirling about in her organs (she believed), and grew agitated whenever she was agitated. For the longest that was her family, she was part of the Swarm and nothing more. But now…maybe it was time for something different…
With a small, shy-like smile, Agnes tucked some of her hair behind her ear and nodded. So here she was, ready to take on the mantle of “sister” again.
“Alright, I think…that would be nice. Mutants do have to look out for each other, after all.” she said encouragingly.
In all honestly the prospect was almost exciting for the teenager. To once more have someone to confide in, to be honest with and trust when things got bad. She hadn’t had that for the longest time…it would be an adjustment, but it was one that she was willing to make. After all, Gina was a sweet girl, away nicer than Faye at least. Hopefully her insects would not ruin this sisterly friendship.

Gina took another tenative sip of water as Agnes gave serious thought towards what Gina had thought was a relatively simple inquiry. It wasn't as if she was asking her to divulge some deep, dark secret-- she just wanted to know if they could consider themselves a pair of nonrelated sisters. The "sister from another mister" sort of friendship. After all, in the short time that Gina had been here, not much of anyone had been by their room, and so she assumed that Agnes's friends either didn't come by the room, or that there weren't many friends to speak of.
After what seemed like ages, Agnes nodded, a small, demure smile upon her face. As if to exaggerate upon her agreement, Agnes added on, "Alright, I think... that would be nice. Mutants do have to look out for each other, after all."
"My thoughts exactly," Gina agreed, beaming delightedly. She looked back towards the television, replacing the lid on the bottle. There was a comfortable measure of silence between the two, and Gina returned her attention to the show. She was shocked that a teacher had yet to come out and send them off to bed once more, but then again, neither of them were making that much noise.
"I've never had a sister," Gina mused aloud, "I have a few brothers, but I've never had a sister. I'm glad to have one now, though! It's really hard to take a bunch of rowdy guys shopping. And, you can't have girl talk with 'em either."
>> "I've never had a sister…I have a few brothers, but I've never had a sister. I'm glad to have one now, though! It's really hard to take a bunch of rowdy guys shopping. And, you can't have girl talk with 'em either."
Her attention drawn back away from the television, Agnes nodded with a smile. “Me neither, actually. I have…one brother. I don’t know where he is right now, but he and I were close. But I never had sisters or girls to have… ‘girl talk’ with.” she said honestly as she lounged back in the sofa, her attention once more drawn to the TV in front of them. “My parents…they were…’strict’ about who I spent my time with. So most of the girls I ended up becoming friends with were either a part of bible study or they were high school friends my parents never knew about.”
When she said the word “friends” she used it in the loosest sense of the word. Her high school companions were never really close to her. She stuck by them, agreed with whatever they said, and even went so far to do their homework. In the eyes of the school, she was little miss popular. She had a troupe of friends, every guy wanted to be with her, every girl wanted to be by her side, but all of it was nothing more than façade. She did it to blend in, to keep out of trouble with the rest of the students. She came from a very odd background, after all, and the last thing she wanted was to stand out in the crowd.
But the second her mutation kicked in, they all revealed their true selves. Yes the incident at the school was traumatic but that did not give them the right to blame it on her.
Slowly a bitter tear formed in her eye that she quickly managed to shoo away. She was done feeling sorry about her past life. There was no use in dwelling on it, after all. As far as she was concerned, she didn’t have a mother or father, nor did she have any former high school life of friends. At least that is what she wanted to keep reminding herself.
A glance to Gina made her smile though. Here was a mutant, a girl, a living, breathing being who wanted to be as close to her as a real sister. She was not judging her like her former friends, she didn’t despise her abilities like her parents, and she had not run away like her brother. To her, Gina was the perfect person to call a sister. She only hoped that she could hold up her end of the relationship and be there for the young girl just as much as Agnes felt Gina wanted to be there for her.
She turned her attention back to the show and paused as she watched the two gentlemen continue with their science experiment. A chuckle fell from her lips as she watched them do a complete overhaul on some classic, black car. At first she was not sure what was going on, then she noticed that…
“Are…Are they really attacking a rocket to the top of that car?” she asked curiously.

Gina smiled uneasily at the concept of public school. Though she'd never been to a public high school, and had never experienced junior high, she felt that elementary school had given her a pretty considerable taste of what the "finer aspects of humanity" were really like. Children were cruel, not by their own devices but by the prejudices of their parents. No, public school had never been kind to Gina.
"All of my friends were in-town, but I didn't really do well at making friends at school," Gina explained, punctuating her explanation with a barely-concealed yawn, "I had never liked school. It was out-of-town, and the kids there weren't as well-adjusted to me. Can't blame them, though. It's how their parents brought 'em up."
They fell into silence for a measure of time, their attention drawn to the screen of the television. There, on the screen, Adam and Jamie (the hosts of the show) were in the process of fastening a rocket to the top of a car. There were always certain pleasures that Gina liked to indulge in, one being the Mythbusters. Each episode came with the guarantee of some sort of mayhem, be it an explosion or something else. Gina had always been fond of episodes with explosions in them.
"Are... Are they really attaching a rocket to the top of that car?" Agnes inquired, curiosity peaked.
"Yeah," Gina said in a humored tone, a laugh escaping her as she envisioned what was to ensue. Gina had yet to see this episode, and had started watching it late, and so she really didn't know what was in-store. She entusiastically explained to Agnes that, "Almost every episode comes with a guarantee of some form of destruction or another. I mean, that isn't the point of the show, but it sure as heck is a lot more fun when something explodes."
She fidgetted with the blanket, glancing back at the television, as she admitted, "And I hope to God that something explodes."

Agnes smirked as she listened to the enthusiasm that Gina displayed to her. The girl really did have one of the sunniest of personalities that she has ever run into. Though some aspects of her life must have been hard due to the visibility of her mutation, she still managed to keep herself pretty upbeat! And that notion was extremely infectious, even to Agnes. The runaway had few, if any good days so basking in the warmth and happy attitude of this mutant could be quite addicting. Deep down she hoped that Gina would not be influenced by any of her own melancholy. She would hate being partially responsible to souring the girl’s attitude towards life.
So in silence Agnes said nothing more and merely watched as the television show progress. She had to admit that it was rather interesting. It was not at all the type of thing her parents would have ever allowed her to watch before. Science was not a particularly well accepted subject, though she managed to still do well in science classes in school.
With interest she watched, the large rocket, the pretty black car, and then is suddenly taking off like a runaway freight train through a barren wasteland / desert. It made an impressive explosion of energy that propelled it quicker than she could have ever imagined a real car to go. It must have been some success because everyone on the show was cheering the vehicle on. A glance to Gina and Agnes had to smirk when she saw the look on satisfaction on her face.
Reaching over, she patted her shoulder gently. “I’m going to head back to bed, okay?” she smiled as she then tried to stifle a yawn. Just sitting there was starting to make her tired all over again and long for her bed. Silently she slipped off the couch, stood up to her full height and stretched. Before she left though, she glanced once more to Gina and nodded to her. “It was only a dream. I’m sure your family is fine.” she said with an encouraging smile. “Besides, now, you have family here too.”
She leaned to ruffle her hair just a little, her curls were extremely cute after all, and whispered another goodnight. Hand over her mouth to cover yet another yawn, she sighed as she shambled off back to their bedroom. She had faith the young gargoyle would be okay. After all, she would do her best to keep her safe too. They were sisters now, after all.
