The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Shana had ventured out of her room other then to eat or leave the mansion for the first time in weeks. She had decided despite her own mental protests that it would likely be good to actually meet other people.. SO she made her way to the living room, despite the sun just coming up through the windows and turned on the TV. It was still tough for her to find anything good on american TV. Then again she had never found much on TV anyway, leaning back in the couch she let out a sigh and began to twists her hair as if to braid it before letting it go again.
She had apparently come to early, as she saw no one else currently here, which seemed odd to her given the raw volume of people. AFter about fifteen minutes shana turned the TV off and stood up stretching and let out a yawn, truthfully she had not slept well in awhile. Her mind was racing way to much. The mansion was weird so vast and understanding yet, so terribley scary as well at times. No one else seemed scared to be here though, but they were all normal as far as mutants went anyway, she griped to herself mentally.
Sitting back down, Shana put a magazine she had taken from her room and set her toes on it, and began to paint them a shade of blue to match her hair, it had a calming affect on her most fo the time and she wanted to be calm when somone actually came to the living room. FInnsihing the first coat on her toes she wiggled them and smiled.
He was still kind of disoriented from it being the early morning and all. Possibly also from staying up so late the night before. The sun was starting to peak through the slats in the blinds, so the day promised to be a beautiful one. He pushed on the door, fully intending to make a bee-line for the coffee, though under normal circumstances, it wasn’t his favorite.
There was no coffee. There was no table surrounded by chairs. No cabinets. It took his brain a few moments to process all this information and properly add it all together. When he did, he came to a startling conclusion; this was not the kitchen.
Fortunately there was someone else there, who, through bleary morning eyes, didn’t appear to be lost. In fact, she seemed to be very much at home. “Uhh…” he tried to form coherent words, but it was hard. He fluffed his slept-on hair to give his brain a jolt. “Which way is the kitchen?”

"She was quite started from her thoughts when a voice asked which was was the kicthen. It took her more then a few moments to process the question. SHe stood up to get a good look at the other mutant and smiled, as well as she could with ehr lack of sleep. "The kictchen, that;s the next room over" she said tilting her head, was he morwe tired then she was? then again the mansion was huge, one could possibly die if they got lost and never found the kicthen.
Standing she walked over to him, and then walked to the kitchen which was close. "Are you new here?" she asked politely as they enterd the kitchen. Shana walked over to the fridge and took out a pepsi. Opening it she took a long drink from it. "my, Name is Shana" she said trying to be friendly though it was not easy for her. Still trying to interact with others better wa shalf the reaosn she came here, even if she did hide most of the time.
She seemed to take as much time to process as he did. But then she pointed him in the right direction, proved by the opening of the next door. There was no coffee brewing yet, but he was sure he could figure it out.
>>“ Are you new here? My name is Shana.”
“Kai,” he answered, hoping that he was ordering his face in some semblance of a smile. “D’you want coffee? Or… well, I don’t really live here so I don’t know what else there is for breakfast…” He let his voice trail off as he banged through a couple of drawers with pots and pans galore in them. Then he noticed the lone appliance on the counter.
“There it is!” he proclaimed stupidly, but holding it up triumphant nonetheless. He cocked his head to the side, examining the girl. “You live here, right? Do you happen to know where they keep the coffee to go in the pot? Then I shall make you the best breakfast feast… of coffee, ever!”

"COfee sounds good" she said though she did not normally drink it at all but it seemed like a real good idea. "been having trouble sleeping, can't relax" she said shaking her head. it was true her own mind was the reason she had trouble sleeping again. "I tend to hide in my room, i have trouble being social" she admitted though she did not know why. People justs cared for some reason, maybe it was the ide aof saying something wrong or messing up in some way.
Still Shana used her powers to open a cabinet and get out a frying pan, even as she did this she opened the fridge with her powers and brought the bacon and carton of eggs out. grabbing the bacon with her hands she opened it and oput it into the pan. Grabbing another pan, she turned the oven on and cracked the eggs over the side of the pan with her powers carefully. "Do you like bacon and eggs?" she asked just now thinking to ask what her new found friend liked for breakfast.
It was funny to her how even half asleep as long as she focussed she did well with her powers, lose focus and they played with any object nearby She really had to find a way to stop that as well.
He only jumped when a pan flew right by his elbow. So this particular mutant could move things. He guessed he shouldn’t be surprised in a mutant school. Eggs and bacon followed the pan, dancing through the air.
>>“Do you like bacon and eggs?”
Kai nodded and filled the pot with water, then figured that she might not have seen the gesture. “That would be great, I’m starving… but I was supposed to make you breakfast!” he protested. He liked to do nice things like that. And he wasn’t a terrible cook, unlike his dear brother who burned everything. If there was a way to burn water, Cam would do it.
He sat down as a thin trickle of brown liquid percolated from the machine. “So why do you hide in your room all the time? Seems to me like folks are pretty friendly around here.”

"Oh i would not worry about it, im use to cooking" she said honestly, mostly because she came down after most people went to sleep and cooked for herself. SO she had to learn plus back in her home country she often cooked for her mom as well. "You can help, if you really want to" she said even as she turned the stove on by just looking at it then put the eggs and bacon away into eh fridge. As long as she focussed and was not distracted she could do well with her powers at least for awhile.
"Well.....it's hard for me to relate to people, i just get so afraid when im around people, even more so in larger groups. I just lock up afraid i'll say somthing wrong or be made fun of, which happoned a lot in my old country, half the reason i came here" she said which was true, a good portion of the reason was to get away from all the tteaseing, though not on her mutation.
"Can i ask what you can do?" she asked curious about his power even as she telekineticly used a spatula to move the eggs and bacon as was needed from time to time, looking back at Kai as in between. She was curious on other mutants and what they could do, as much as she was about the person and what they did for a living. "Im from Israel" she said trying to give them a further talking point if he did not wish to talk of his powers.
“I could help, but I might just get in the way. Seems like you have things pretty under control.” Kai was impressed that with a mere glance, the kitchen bent itself over to do her bidding. He had to settle for having a knack for stirring whatever his brother neglected in time before it turned into one lumpy mess.
>>“…Can i ask what you can do? I’m from Israel."
He could tell that she didn’t want to dwell on the topic of being teased, so he let it go, as well. He knew from personal experience that being the quiet one in a group was often a stressful position to be in. If not for his brother (who was mouth enough for the both of them) Kai’s fate would have been similar. Fortunately, he had learned to speak up when it was needed.
“I’m from a town in Illinois that no one has ever heard of. My family has a farm…” his voice wobbled a little over that one, “surrounded by a bunch of other farms. But our mutation- sorry, I have a twin brother, anyway, our mutations both deal with plants, so it was actually a good thing for my parents. Our fields had the highest yield. Mine is with trees and plants that are more wood-y, ya know? Like bushes. What was it like where you grew up?”
He refilled his lungs after a long-ish speech and began shoveling piping hot eggs into his mouth to give her a chance to get a word in edgewise. He didn’t want to just go on and on and forget about her.

It was true it would likely be easier if she did the cooking herself as the space in front of the oven was limited and she did not want to whack the guy in the head with a pan or food. Her powers made certain things much easier when they were not acting up and usually throwing things up into the air. Still they seemed to be cooperating at the moment, a fact she was quite happy about.
"Your able to grow plants huh? that sounds really useful, can you grow things like fruit?" she said curiously although she realized he prolbely could from what he was saying. She understood how the power could be very effective on a farm. She did wonder however just how fast he could make them grow, if it was very quickly she was sure he could be very rich.
"I grew up in a city and it was all right although we did have to deal with some rockets that the Palestinians kept firing at us. It was scary somtimes but you got used to it after awhile" she admitted though she still hated the idea that somone would even consider firing a rocket at someone else, realizing the eggs were done she served them and sat down.
eating her own food, she smiled. "Not a abd place but my powers kept me from interacting with people easily as well as other things. When i don't focus on them they have a tendency to throw things into the air, and im really unsure why" she said which was true she figured many things would happon, maybe it would go to the ground or out in front of her but no most times, her powers sent things up.
“I guess I could grow fruit… but there aren’t a lot of trees around here that are fruit trees. Maybe apples? I generally need something to work with. I might be able to do it the other way, too.” Kai went to the ‘fridge and poked around for a moment.
He returned to the table with his prize. An orange.
“Watch.”
Then he delved in, locating with relative ease the seed that still held all that growing potential within the fleshy orange wrapping. It was also the perfect food for the seed. Little by little, with his coaxing, the seed opened and sprouted a tiny plant- though it was still invisible outside the orange. He fed the infant sapling nutrients from the orange, weakening the peel until a small bit of green poked through in one spot.
It was sooo much easier when the seed had its own food to sustain it! He eagerly prodded a little harder with his powers. The tree’s growth was perceptible to the human eye now, growing and hardening as the “orange” shriveled and shrank. He could see each cell dividing and the nutrients being carried to where they were most needed.
He looked up. “I’d better leave it there, or it’ll never grow good roots.” He held it out by the orangey base. The sapling was roughly four inches tall. “Here. Plant it in some soil and water every once and a while.”

Shana finished her meal as Kai got up and went to the fridge she watched as he got the orange watching Kai as he worked though she could not see what he was doing. She was surprised when the growth of the seed became visible however, she knew she had heard him say he could do it, but to watch him do so, was an entirely different story. This guy really was amazing to be able to do such a thing, even with a power, it meant he likely could never starve.
SHe took the orange looking at the seedling amazed and transfixed. Honestly she had not even realized that oranges grew on trees, but now it looked like she might have her own orange tree if it could survive this place. "Thank you, that was awesome" she said still amazed by what the guy had done. "I will as soon as i cna but a pot and some soil" she said setting it down, then steadying it on a cup.
"Looks' like you could never starve" she said with a smile looking from the orange back to kai. "So what do you do with yourself?" she asked curiously wondering what he did for a living more then anything. "I don't really do anything right now" she said not having any kind of job or anything like that. She did go see hunter, but she figured that Kai would not be interested in that. " Do you work at all?" she asked prodding a little further.
He was glad she liked the present. It was fun to give plants away to people who liked them. And heaven knows if he kept all of the ones he saw or talked with or touched… Well no shop could contain all of those plants. Especially since many of them were rather large.
>>”I don't really do anything right now… Do you work at all?”
Kai nodded. She had found his weak spot, the one that would keep him talking, Plants. “Yes. I co-own a flower and plant shop with my twin brother. So there’s always something to do. You know, look after the shop, fill orders, plant, re-plant, weed… It keeps me pretty busy. As for starving, I’ve always been able to get food, even when we ran away from home and were on the road all the time, but it’s much better to have shelter and a steady income. Security, you know?”
He shuddered. He didn’t relish the days of living by the roadside, out in the elements, fearing discovery. The only good thing had been sleeping in trees, though Cam had always managed to complain about that fact.
Pushing those thoughts aside, he asked “Well, what do you do for fun, then?” Because the opposite of work was definitely fun. No work = lots of time for fun.

"A flower shop? that sounds lovely!" she said honestly liking the idea of a shop that sold flowers. She had been to a few before and she enjoyed them, the high walls of plants usually made it private and the colors and scents were awesome as well. It also made sense for Kai tow rok with flowers as well, since his mutation pretty much entirely involved them.
"I cant imagine living on the streets" she said having never even considerd the idea before. Her mother would have never allowed it to happen, even if she tried she knew. "Sound's hard" she said honestly, as it really did sound like a difficult way to grow up.
"Not much chat with people on my computer and keep to myself mostly, im not very exciting" she said honestly, not really feeling she was. "The most exciting thing that happens to me is my occasional power flare up where it decided to toss something into the air, like a few weeks ago it was some kids wagon" she said still a bit embarrassed the event had even happened.
He shrugged, it sounded worse when you used the phrase “living on the streets.” It was technically accurate, but didn’t reflect how he thought about it. It really wasn’t so bad. He always had Cam and the trees to keep him company. It had been an adventure.
“Well throwing things around is pretty exciting.” His eyes actually widened when she mentioned the poor kid and the wagon. That was a pretty severe and obvious reaction. And to think that she had calmly floated all of those things around to make breakfast. “If my powers ever went haywire all that would happen is the plants would move around.”

"I wake up to floating objects all the time, in fact i keep anything sharp put away becuse im scared i will wake up and have a knife fall on me" she said honestly, it had nearly happoned once or twice, though not with knifes. "A few days agao my laptop took a trip out the window" she went on shaking her head. "As long as i stay focussed my powers are fine, when i get to distracted they tend to play" she said running her finger across the table a bit embarrassed. ""Well that does not sound to bad, you might wake up with an apple that tastes like an orange" she said with a laugh thinking about Kai's powers going out of control. "That would be quite intresting" she said running a finger down the plant kai had given her, it really was a nice gift from a guy she did not even know.
