The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

It had been a few weeks since his return from Romania and his trip from Colorado and he still wasn’t at a hundred percent. Still down in the dumps Sam rifled through some paperwork about a few possible new mansion recruits for scholarships. The number for collage scholarships would be some where in the dozens by now and it just so happened he was supposed to be meeting one of the first members of the scholarship program he had set up, although it was unofficial he still treated it as a regular scholarship program with meetings with all of those who had been receiving money for school.
There was also another reason he had called a meeting with Kealey, he had wanted to know how the suits were coming along and possibly discuss something else with her should they have the time. A muscular Saint Bernard sat down on the side of his desk facing the door sprawled out his paws twitching slightly with each event unfolding in his dreams. A tabby cat was curled up in a ball on Sam’s lap purring affectionately an act he was grateful for.
It was odd ever since he had returned from Romania both Bruno and Cammie had tried to become inseparable from Sam. It was like they knew how he was feeling and tried to comfort him by not letting him be alone long enough to start feeling worse than he already was. One could almost call them empathic. Speaking of empathy Kealey was due to his office within the hour, he just hoped she wouldn’t pick up on how he was feeling.
It was hard enough giving the impression that he had his act together due to his eye but with all the emotional damage he received in Romania, well it was a lot harder to get used to than the missing eye, something he was getting more and more used to everyday.

Kealey hummed a tune her father had often sung when she was a girl. Kealey was in a good mood, and the errand she was running did nothing to dampen it. Her first commission job! It was a huge piece of work, and something serious to boot…making uniforms for the X-Men…it wasn’t something Kealey had seen herself doing when she got into fashion school the previous year…but it was a job…a job that paid well. Under her arm was tucked her portfolio, packed with concept art from the meetings she’d already had with team members. Her messenger bag was slung over her shoulder, packages inside with the suits she’d already completed. There were only two, one for Sam and one for a girl who called herself Jewel. Hopefully it would be enough to convince him that he’d made a good choice.
Up mansion gates Kealey went, impressed as always, by the opulence of the place as well as its homey nature. Two things that usually didn’t fit well together. The other thing Kealey had noticed on previous trips, were just how many emotions were swirling around the place. It had been a shock the first time she’d been there, at least until it had been explained that the mansion doubled as a boarding school. That many teenagers in a single place were basically a plethora of emotion, and too much time spent here made Kealey as emotional as any fifteen year old.
The little button to the side of the gate was pushed and Mansion Greeter Shin inquired as to who needed entry, ”It’s Kealey, Shin, I’m here to meet with Sam about the uniforms.” she announced, then waited for her guide to approach and show her to the appropriate meeting place.

Tiny things were cute. That was the general rule of the world. The smaller, the more adorable. Minuscule dogs had one up on greyhounds, with the only exception being Scrappy Doo. That's what brought Shin to the 20-minute mark of his office-training session. That, and the words of certain empaths and coffee-boys, and the image of dashing tuxes.
And so, he focused on the triangle-tot. Shin worked the itsy-bitsy shape into line with its construct brethren, and things were good. He'd make a miniature pyramid, the likes of which Ancient Egyptians had never imagined. And then, he'd make more... if he could figure out the math.
A voice came in on the intercom. A familiar voice. The pyramid vanished as Shin moved forward to respond.
>> ”It’s Kealey, Shin, I’m here to meet with Sam about the uniforms.”
"Be done there in a second," Shin replied. He got up from his seat, and walked down to the main gates. He smiled at Kealey as they swung open. "Hey there. Been a while. Follow me, and I'll take you to Sam's office..."
Shin turned, and lead. As they went through the doors to the mansion, Shin glanced back at her. "So. Uniforms? How are those coming?"
They moved across the carpet of the main hall, towards Sam's office, as they spoke.

The gate swung open to reveal Shin and Kealey grinned at her friend as they started making their way into the mansion. Shin pointed out that it had been a while since they’d seen each other, and the blond nodded her head, ”We should do that again sometime.” she said with a smile, a smile that quickly faded when she realized how her comment could be construed, ”Er…I meant the going out part…the fun stuff…not the uh….” she trailed off helplessly, cheeks flashing slightly pink at the memory of the morning after their last excursion. Awkward.
Uniforms…yes…they were a far better subject at the present moment. Much better, Kealey patted the messenger bag hanging on her hip, ”They’re good. I’ve got two finished already. Thought I’d bring them to see what Sam thinks.”
They were inside the mansion now, and sure enough, the wall of emotion was substantial, Kealey groaned a little, ”Why do there have to be so many teenagers here?” she muttered, a little to herself. Then turned back to Shin, ”How’s things with you? Things have been pretty quiet in the city lately…at least as far as I’ve seen.”

>>”We should do that again sometime.” ”Er…I meant the going out part…the fun stuff…not the uh….”
Shin opened his mouth, but didn't say anything. Um. He'd momentarily forgotten that he'd spooned with her. It hadn't been an attraction thing, after all, just a platonic enjoyment of warmth. The going out part, yes. That had been okay. Fun, also. They might have to do it again some time, indeed.
"Remind me to stalk Aurum for that recipe, next time we go out..." He met Kealey's eye with a jokingly-serious look. Cheesecake Oreo Brownies... Aurum was an angel... or maybe, the Devil in disguise.
As they reached the doors, he asked her about the uniforms. Shin remembered they'd talked about those that night, too.
>>”They’re good. I’ve got two finished already. Thought I’d bring them to see what Sam thinks.”
Kealey replied.
"That's good," Shin nodded. "I've been working a bit on my own. Once I start up college, I'll be able to get a bit further..." He still hadn't found out if he'd gotten in. He'd need the math, if he was making a tuxedo out of tinyshards. So far, all he'd managed was tiny pyramids...
>>”Why do there have to be so many teenagers here?”
Shin looked at Kealey with a grin. "We lure them here with promises of free education and a place to live," he deadpanned. "Like the pied piper of Hamlin."
>>”How’s things with you? Things have been pretty quiet in the city lately…at least as far as I’ve seen.”
"Better," Shin replied. "Now that I know what I'm doing, and don't have as much worry on my mind..."
"And, thanks... I couldn't have made the decision without you..." For a moment, Shin was quiet. It had been a tough decision, breaking up with Kasumi. He'd needed both Kealey and Aurum to help him with it. But now that it was over, he felt better... that much, he knew.
His mood shifted as they approached Sam's office. Shin swung up the cheerful, yet-serious, facade, and knocked on Sam's door.
"Hey, Sam. Clothes-designer, here to see you. Can I come in?" He kind of wanted to see the costumes Kealey had made. He wasn't certain if Sam wanted him to see them, yet. Sam certainly hadn't talked with him about his own.

The door opened and his friend, Shin poked his head in. Bruno jumped up and barked excitedly and charged the door to greet the Asian who took Bruno’s foster brother off of Sam’s hands. His tail wagging behind him excitedly Bruno half expected Thor to bound through the door and tackle him but lowered his tail when he realized there was no Thor. ”Well, send her in, been looking forward to this meeting all day!”
Sam said as he lifted his papers and shifted them away from his main workspace and off to the side of his desk. Any chance that he got to not do work made him a happy ice-mancer. ”Ahh Shin you get the files I sent to your office? I need a pair of eyes to give them a look over.” he said finding his own comment somewhat humorous since he only had an eye. Laughing now Sam figured it was defiantly dark humor. ”They are regarding teams for our training with the new police recruits, I think the teams match up pretty well, good personality dynamic.”
Giving a quick whistle he called Bruno who was already attempting to poke his head out the door to spot the next visitor who had an unfamiliar scent. ”Be good!” commanded Sam, which meant that there would be no jumping and licking of the face. Bruno reluctantly wadded over to Sam’s desk and sat waiting patiently for the new visitor to come to him.
Lifting Cammie off his lap and setting her down on the desk and ignoring the whine of a meow that followed Sam walked over towards Shin and Kealey, ”Good to see you again, Kealey how is school treating you?” he asked feeling the need for small talk important before he got on to bigger matters, after all he was paying for schooling only natural he expected to know how she is doing. ”Now,” Sam said as he extended his hand to Kealey, ”have a seat!” his free hand pointed over to the chairs sitting across from his desk.

Kealey had to laugh when Shin pointed out that he was going to have to stalk Aurum for the oreo cheesecake brownie recipe, ”I told him that those brownies would only lead to stalking.” she said, shaking her head in amusement, ”But if you manage to figure them out, you’d better make sure you tell me.”
Shin pointed out that he was getting ready to start college, and Kealey grinned over at him, ”So you decided to go through with it! That’s excellent Shin!” she exclaimed, glad that so much good had come out of that night. More than anything, the sense of camaraderie that she’d developed with Shin and Aurum. It was nice to have people she felt she could rely on. Even if Shin preferred to make his own costume, rather than relying on her for one, she shrugged it off…the concept Shin had come up with was pretty awesome.
”Well, if it turns out you need a backup, let me know and I’ll see what I can do.”
His response to her comment about teenagers warranted a laugh from the blond and she nodded her head, ”It must be that way….because it’s as emotionally conflicted in here as any high school I’ve ever seen.” She was doing pretty well though, apparently there wasn’t too much drama at the moment.
The topic of conversation veered back to the night they’d spent in the bar, and the decision that had been made. Kealey had to admit that she was a little relieved to hear Shin say thanks for what had happened. Kealey could tell from his emotions that he was earnest too. She cast him her own grateful look, ”I’m glad to hear it…I never know how people are going to react..even if they ask me to use my powers. Conversely…thanks for listening to my rants…I need to tell Aurum too.”
Before long they arrived at Sam’s office, and Kealey was shown in. Apparently Sam had been looking forward to this meeting for some time and as she made her way in the door she smiled at someone else the Full Circle had forged her a relationship with. In this case, a most fortuitous one.
As Sam spoke quickly to Shin, Kealey took the opportunity to look around the office. There were two animals there, one of them a large dog. Kealey wasn’t afraid of dogs, but she wasn’t a huge fan either, so she silently made a deal with the large canine that if it left her alone she’d do the same. She also noticed that Sam was wearing an eye patch. It wasn’t a dress-up holiday, so that had to mean that something had happened. Kealey idly wondered if Sam had been in the same concentration camp thing that Shin had been in. It would be rude to ask, though.
The commotion ended finally, and Kealey made her way to the seat that Sam had pointed out after saying her goodbyes to Shin. While she moved, she tested the emotional climate of the room. Sam was definitely radiating enthusiasm towards this meeting, which was a good thing. There was something lurking underneath, though, she’d look closer once things had settled down and she could separate Sam from the rest of the emotions.
He asked how her school was going, and Kealey couldn’t help but feel like she was under the microscope a bit. The scholarship offer had been something of a surprise, and she’d been reluctant to accept…until they’d worked something out with the uniforms. They took up most of her time outside of school and work.
”It’s good. I’m not the very top of the class, but I still have a fair bit of trouble sitting in class sometimes. I’m getting high marks…and still managing the suits. I brought two of them alone, yours and Jewels‘ I figured you‘d want to see what kind of progress I made. ”

>> ”I told him that those brownies would only lead to stalking.” ”But if you manage to figure them out, you’d better make sure you tell me.”
"Will do," Shin saluted with a laugh.
Shin beamed at her congratulations. Yes, he was going to college. He thought she'd be pleased with that success. He was getting impatient, waiting on the college to get back to him on whether or not he'd gotten in. The sooner he had a chance to pick up his books, the quicker he'd be able to improve his math skills, and practice his new-found gift for numbers. Some people went to college to learn how to help people, some to learn how to help themselves. Shin was giddy to help himself to that math know-how. He was such a nerd.
>>”Well, if it turns out you need a backup, let me know and I’ll see what I can do.”
His head bobbed up and down in a nod. "Alright."
Shin laughed lightly at Kealey's response to the 'pied piper' comment. He'd thought it was a good metaphor. After all, nobody paid the X-men. They had to take in their recruits somehow.
The conversation turned back towards himself, then Kealey. He really did appreciate what she'd done. And, it seemed she appreciated what he'd done, as well.
>>"…thanks for listening to my rants…I need to tell Aurum too."
"Sure thing. If you ever need someone to talk to," He nodded towards his office down the hall. "I'm here." Most of the time. And the other times, there was the Full Circle to stalk... er, stock.
They reached Sam's office. Shin pouted slightly when Sam reminded him of 'that thing he'd sent him'. He supposed he wouldn't get the chance to see Kealey's costumes this time. Maybe next time...
"Very punny," Shin smirked at Sam's eye-joke. Haha. Little graveyard humor, there. "I'll give them the once-over. You know I've got my eyes on a few of the newbies. I'll talk with you about them, later. Bye, Sam. See you later, Kealey." Shin gave a parting wave, and slipped out the door. He shut it behind him, and walked down the hall.
((OOC: And out of the thread. Have fun, you two! *Poof* ))

A laugh followed his partner in crime as he left the room. Only shin would laugh at his dark sense of humor at the expense of his eye, everyone else would shift awkwardly or in Ghost’s case cry. One of the main reasons he had been avoiding a few members of the team. As his initial excitement continued to extruded every pour on his person Sam sat back down in his rather large chair behind his larger desk. Within a few seconds of him sitting down his cat Cammie reclaimed her throne in his lap letting out a loud purr to show her approval of him sitting.
”I’m glad it’s going well!” Sam said with a smile, it took a lot for a person to go to collage even more to get them to sit through a class when they could read the emotions of everyone in the classroom. Nodding his head quickly he added, ”It sounds like your ability is getting easier for you then?” out of the corner of his eye he watched Bruno slowly inch forward in his crouched position sniffing the air around Kealey.
Not paying it much mind Sam continued, ”To be honest I figured you were going to take a bit longer with the suits but two of them?” he let out a quick laugh, ”Well a congratulations are in order, the only problem is I might need to bump up the number of suits by a few more…” he paused then pointed to his patched eye, ”Even though we had some hardships recently it seems more and more want to join the team, which is good for us but means more work for you… Sorry!” Sam shrugged slightly and sat back in his chair a smile still on his face.
”Now care to show me the two suits you brought, I hope the requests weren’t to difficult to fulfill I know I asked for a lot of them.” again Sam shrugged and his smile turned into an apologetic yet intrigued look Kealey had his undivided attention.

”Sometimes.” Kealey said in response to Sam’s question about her powers, ”Being around a lot of people is still quite the struggle, so I tend to avoid places like this. You’ll have to forgive me if my mind wanders. So many teenagers is a bit of a recipe for eventual disaster.”
He was surprised she’d gotten two of the suits done so quickly. Kealey did a little mental math, it really wasn’t that outlandish. She’d had a good deal of time, and spent most of her free time working on them. ”Well, I wanted to make sure you knew I was serious about taking on this project. I know it’s important work, and I wanted to make sure you knew the work was going to be prompt and well done.”
He was thinking about bumping up the number of suits, Kealey simply nodded at the information, squirming slightly in her seat at the emotions worming their way into her consciousness. Out came the little notebook she’d brought with her portfolio and she jotted down a few notes, ”More suits isn’t a problem at all, as long as I can meet with the people they’re for soon. I like to work in stages on a few at a time. I’ll feel like I’m really earning that scholarship.”
Sam gestured to his eye, and Kealey tilted her head, tapping her foot in impatience that she wasn’t really feeling, and holding back a self-pitying sigh. There really were too many people here. ”I noticed the eye patch…it really is rather dashing though. Might I ask what happened?”
Conversation continued until Sam requested to see the suits. Kealey nodded, smiling and reached into the messenger bag she’d brought along for the first bundle wrapped in paper. Onto Sam’s desk it went, the knot in the binding string was untied, the paper unfolded, and the suit was revealed. The top was made of thin black neoprene and inset with the icy blue color that Sam had requested. The material was tight, but breathable and wouldn’t shatter in the icy temperatures that Sam could generate with his mutation. The same was true of the pants, stylistically they resembled the type of pants you’d see a snowboarder wear, baggy, but tight enough to not be cumbersome. They had matching insets of the same blue material present in the shirt and a built in belt. Everything was tailor made, and if the measurements she’d gotten stood, it would all fit perfectly.
”I’ve been thinking of a jacket for your suit as well…I know you don’t really need it…but it would set off the rest very nicely. I've got Jewel's in there too, but I figured I'd show you yours first, since you know best what we spoke about.”

She wanted to make sure she was doing work for her scholarship, this was something he liked the sound of, it was a good thing she had such a positive outlook on the program cause he knew a few of his team mates would be a little hard to work with opposed to others. Some he knew wouldn’t be the kindest Kealey something he expected her to talk about should they be over critical about the uniforms. Some of the X’s just needed people skills. Something Sam had in spades.
For now he prolonged answering Kealey about his eye he would for now prefer to get a little more business done before he had to discuss his mishap over seas. It was a touchy subject after all one that was linked with negative feelings his eye patch was his way of covering those wounds left by everything over there.
Leaning forward towards his desk he eyed the fabric of his shirt and pants and his eye trailed over the seams. It was to be light and comfortable, durable, able to withstand cold temperatures, basically everything his other suit was not. He didn’t have anything against spandex it was just some times it wasn’t the most modest piece of clothing a fact some angry mothers made apparent when he went to visit a school in uniform after stopping a metal manipulator. As luck would have it there were a few tears in his old costume and when he went to talk about the importance of staying in school his backside did more talking than he would have liked.
”….” he didn’t say anything yet but just smiled it was fine work, work he was very impressed with. It wasn’t indestructible but this was far more than he could have asked for. ”Beautiful...” Sam said as he placed a hand over the material to make sure it wasn’t the chaffing kind. A small laugh exited his lips as he ran his hand across the chest of his custom shirt. He would look a little like a surfer but it was a look he felt that would work for him.
”Really out done yourself here Kealey…” Sam said as he smiled and sat back in his chair, ”And yes, I’d love a jacket, though I’d like to request a few pockets on the inside of the jacket as well as the outside.” it was an odd request but there were several times when he wished he had an inside pocket or two.
Sighing slightly and returning back to a few moments before Sam thought he owed it to her now to answer her question, ”Yes, you may ask what happened,” pointing to his eye and his smile fading Sam continued, ”Dashing it may be I can’t say I’m particularly fond of the patch,” pulling the patch down a quarter inch to reveal a scar of a knife wound Sam pulled the patch back up but trailed his finger down the path of the wound.
It passing over his eye and down to the bottom of the patch Sam pulled his finger away, ”I took a knife to the eye trying to protect Al… someone special….” he didn’t say her name or say what she was to him other than someone special, there was a lot of unresolved feelings there that he didn’t want Kealey to feel should he start thinking to much about her.
Love, lust, anger, fear, pain, sorrow, crushed, lonely… the list kept going, there were hundreds of feelings that he felt and the fact that he was in the prescense of an empathy was all the more reason to avoid feeling what he was feeling. ”So!” Sam clapping his hands and tossing on a fake smile trying to mask his other feelings, ”You said you brought Jewel’s new suit? May I see that one?”

Sam liked the work, liked the concept, and he liked the idea of having a jacket to go with the pants and shirt. Kealey nodded her head and jotted down what Sam said about the pockets. Pockets were definitely a good thing, ”And if you want I can make the sleeves zip-off…that way if it’s hot out you can wear it like a vest, but still have access to the pockets.” the ideas were flowing now and she sketched a little as she wrote, at least until classes changed in the mansion.
The mass of humanity rushed into the hallways and all the sedate emotions changing to excitement as the teenagers left their classes. Kealey blinked a couple of times, steeling herself against the surge of hormone-driven angst, excitement, attraction, embarrassment, and everything else in the world. ”Woah…” she breathed, ”Class change, huh?”
Sam started talking about his injury and Kealey nodded, still staring at the patch that covered what was apparently a missing eye. ”I’m sorry to hear about that, and no, I suppose the thing wouldn’t seem as dashing to you considering the price you paid to get it.” she said, voice a little monotone as she tried to block the emotions off to one corner of her mind. It was an all or nothing process.
Sam’s own emotions were becoming more obvious as they spoke, the enthusiasm he’d felt at their meeting was still there, but the undercurrents were stronger too….and they were all such sad emotions. Kealey didn’t say anything, though, she was far too busy trying to keep herself together and concentrate on what Sam was asking from her.
”At any rate, I’m glad you like what I’ve done, of course you can see Jewel’s.”
The second package came out of the bag and was similarly unwrapped. Jewel’s outfit consisted of pants inspired by dance pants, a tank top out of similar lycra material and a jacket that was always meant to go over the top. Like Sam’s, this outfit was tailor made exactly for Jewel’s body, as was the jacket. ”She was worried about it being to form fitting, so the pants kind of flow down from her hips. The top is tight, but the jacket adds modesty.” To emphasize the point, she held it up. The jacket was a lightweight nylon blend, similar in texture to what you’d find in a motorcycle jacket. There were brads up the curve of the sides and down the front, as well as buttons on the sleeves and hooks down the front to hold it closed when required.
”All the studding and buttons are made out of precious metals, to allow for her to use her mutation, and the cool thing about the sleeves is…” Kealey picked one up and unsnapped it, pulling it back, ”They roll back so she can use her hands. There are also a few strands of really thin gold woven into the lining every few inches. This way if she‘s in her uniform, she‘s always got access to her metals.”
Kealey let out a long breath, that had been a mouthful…and the emotions from the kids were starting to work their dark magic, she giggled, ”I did do a good job, didn’t I?”

Shaking his head at the seamstress Sam interjected, ”Zipper sleeves will not be needed,” the air around them got cool for a moment, ”I make my own climate, and…” Sam paused as Kealey seemed to be far too overwhelmed for a moment, he heard the bell and immediately knew why. Class changes, they were he’d imagine a menace to her seeing as she could feel what all those hormonal teens were feeling. Waiting a few moments till Kealey seemed to regain her composure Sam looked at his watch and waiting another moment till the next class should be starting up. ”Just be happy you didn’t come when school gets out, we would have to lock you away somewhere…”
”No worries,” Sam said tapping the left side of his head, ”There have been a few perks to me losing my eye I think I might have become a more successful teacher, it seems a few of my students thought it was time to challenge me on the mats…” Sam snapped his fingers and ice formed at his fingertips then quickly shattered to demonstrate a point, ”They went down just as fast as they would have if I had both eyes, think next time I might try to go at them blind…” he smirked at the thought of not being able to see and it didn’t really concern him to much, one of the many perks was his new extension of his mutation. One that made him able to feel the heat coming off his students, ”It would defiantly be a good training exercise…” more for him than his students seeing as he had little to no control of his newest ability.
Smiling Sam eyed Kealey’s next creation. Sam laughed when he spotted the flash and the pizzazz it was he thought perfect for Jewel’s mutation. Precious metals decorated the jacket and the gold lining caught his attention. Defiantly an expensive suit far more expensive he imagined than the other and the workmanship showed how hard Kealey worked on them. ”I like the idea of having the metals on her clothing opposed to her neck… Always worried she might get choked out somehow…” Sam said to himself more than he was saying to Kealey.
Hearing a giggle surprised Sam slightly, it seemed so out of place from her previous enthused and focus tone. He smirked tempted to reach across the desk and pat Kealey on the head like he would one of his students, ”Very good indeed!” he however refrained from petting Kealey cause even if he found it funny he wasn’t exactly sure how she would react to the gesture. ”So who did you have in mind next to work with?”

He didn’t want the sleeves, Kealey pursed her lips and scribbled through the little sketch she’d drawn of the jacket’s removable sleeves. It would take less time to make this way, and if Sam really could make his own climate, there was no need for them. ”Okay then. It’ll cut down a bit on how much of a suit it looks like…which is kind of what I’m going for. You guys want to be identifiable to one another, but sticking out like a sore thumb to everyone less than desirable.”
Sam commented on her reaction to the bell, and Kealey blushed to the roots of her blond hair. She wasn’t used to people actually calling her out on her slip-ups, and she dropped her head, eyes fixed on the portfolio in her lap. Luckily, he didn’t dwell there too long and moved on to talk about how losing an eye had affected his life.
Kealey tilted her head and nodded, listening to the way he’d overcome the problems that being half-blind caused. ”I’m glad you managed to work through it, and even see some positives…” she said with a smile, ”Some people probably would have just given up.”
Sam looked over Jewel’s costume next, with an even more critical eye than he had his own and Kealey found herself squirming with anticipation that she’d let sneak in, a desire to please that Kealey couldn’t remember feeling so desperately for years. It was validated, though, when Sam pointed out the fact that he liked the metal being away from her neck. ”It’s also a little more inconspicuous. If it’s not obvious where her power is coming from, it’s much more difficult to counteract.”
The last came out with a giggle, courtesy of some flirty student and Kealey rolled her eyes slightly in irritation, scolded herself, and struggled to get a grip on her emotions. It simply didn’t do to come apart like this in the middle of business meeting. As if on cue, a wealth of teenage angst swept through her and she actually stomped her foot, then gasped wide-eyed at what she’d done. ”Oh for the love of all that’s holy.” she muttered, pushing her hair back behind her ears, ”I’’m sorry, this place gets the better of me. Teenagers feel everything so strongly.”
Sam had asked her a question at some point, and Kealey took a moment to try and think on it, nodding her head as the memory surfaced through her emotionally fogged brain, ”Who needs their suit’s the soonest? I can work on anyone I’ve sat down with.”

Eyeing her scribbling her pad of paper Sam smirked slightly, ”Well… Sleeves could work…” he paused as he thought more about the idea of looking like a team. ”Your right, sticking out from everyone else is counter productive!” he scratched the back of his head hoping he wasn’t being too difficult with her, she was after all working hard for the team, and there was no sense in being difficult.
Nodding his head he shrugged slightly, ”Missing eye is nothing compared to some of the other stuff I went through…” heartbreak, growing up without a childhood or a family, hell a missing eye was cakewalk for him. Negative feelings started to overwhelm him something that he was trying to prevent but was failing the more he thought about everything that had been going on.
Quickly distracting himself and hopefully Kealey who he was hoping was reading his feelings under the impression that they were someone else’s, a teen with girl troubles perhaps, ”The more difficult it is to counteract the easier the situation becomes for us, which is why I am so pleased with the design.”
Kealey giggled again and Sam couldn’t help but let a small laugh escape, she was now acting more and more like one of his students by the second. She was reminding him of one of the girls he scolded recently for not focusing on schoolwork but he was familiar with the feeling of being easily distracted. It was odd all it took was a giggle and the most focused and hardened student could turn into a lovesick puppy. The giggle that Kealey gave him had a similar effect. Unfortunately the giggle she had given also reminded him of someone else.
Feeling a tug in his heart Sam sighed slightly and shook his head trying to hold back the dam that was hiding his emotions but the more he tried not to think of Alex the more he could his emotions boiling to the surface. Trying to mask them again but only becoming distracted with the sound of the second bell Sam cleared his throat trying to distract Kealey, ”Ghost, Streak, Fade, Kasumi, Raina…” he trailed off and caught words on his lips not allowing himself to speak of Alex’s name.
