The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Koga walked along the ceiling of the hallways grinning his head phones stuck in his ears and his shirt only staying where it should because it was tucked in, one of the teachers called him on walking around the mansion without a shirt and so he had been sticking to dress code for a bit. His movements were smooth one foot had solid while the other struck out ahead to land and hold him to repeat the process.
It was about the time his current favorite song came on, it was an odd pick seeing as it didn’t match any of his other musical interests.Rapper’s delight it was about the time that he was supposed to hip hop the hibble to tha hibbe the hip hip a hop you don’t stop a rockin to the bang bang boogie, that Koga fell solidly to the floor.
He looked to the ceiling where his eyes were trying to focus but he couldn’t quite keep focused he was burning itching like his skin was instantly sunburned, his eyes twitched as a searing pain flared at the corners of his eyes. His eyes wildly shot around looking for whatever was responsible for making him feel like this, somewhere remotely he listened as a rapper complained about his friend’s mom’s cooking. His fingers pressed into the carpet as the whole of his being ached to be free of the searing pain.
“Wait, what kind of hybrid were you talking about? We learned about those in biology, you know; Mendel and the plant breeding?”
She didn't get a chance to hear how Carrick was going to respond to her question of clarification; her attention was stolen away be a sharp thud from around the corner. It was not a usual sound to be hearing during the last passing time before their very last class before the weekend. Katrina jogged around the corner and promptly dropped her armful of books as she rushed forward to where a familiar lizard boy lay prone on the ground.
His tail twitched behind him as she spoke, ”Mendel? Plants? Naw I was talking like bear-dog hybrid or something like the flying monkeys from that Oz movie…” he didn’t really know how she thought he was talking about plants but it didn’t really matter, he learned a bit today something about plants and a guy named Mendel.
A loud thud dragged both his attention and Kat’s however he wasn’t that interested in the things that go bump in the day probably someone dropping something or someone tripping somewhere. He shrugged it off but watched Kat eject from their conversation to investigate.
As she rounded the corners he spotted a book fall onto the ground and Kat asking Koga something, ”Bout time!” Carrick said as he threw his backpack on the ground a few feet away from him. It was about time she wised up and decided school was stupid down with books and to hell with the teacher’s dirty looks!
Taking a few steps forward he realized why Kat dropped her books. Something was wrong with Koga, Carrick went to investigate with Kat cause after all Koga was sorta his friend right? Looking from side to side Carrick decided Koga wasn’t playing possum seeing as there was no kind of threat. Maybe it was a reptile thing? He on occasion had been known to go on a birdseed binge. ”Koga?”

It had been a few weeks since the breakup. Shin still ached a little (in his heart), but he was doing better. He wasn't as confused as he'd thought he'd been, maybe, before the night out with Kealey and Aurum. He'd even applied for college, because that's what people did. They applied for college, and they learned about things, themselves included, and they grew. And they didn't fight crime during the day-time. That was a purely nighttime endeavor, so...
So...
He was doing good. He was walking through the halls of the mansion, and he was doing... just fine. Dandy, one might even say. Definitely... he tilted his head, trying to think of the perfect word...
>>"Koga!"
No, it wasn't that word.
Wait, Koga? With an exclamation point, and a question of 'what's wrong'. Something was wrong, then? Shin ran around the corner to see what was wrong. Because certainly, he was feeling too 'okay' right now for someone around him to be feeling 'not good'. And definitely not 'wrong!'
"Koga?" Shin popped out just in time to catch sight of Carrick and Katrina. He ran the last few feet to bridge the gap between him and the boy.
Something had better not be wrong, Shin frowned as he knelt down beside the kid. Everything was going too fine to go awry. And Koga was one of his best friends. He'd better be alright.
Koga’s eyes blurred slightly as tears seemed to well up uncontrollably, The white plain of the ceiling was broken by a more than welcome sight, friends. Katrina was there like a blond seraphim all worry and sympathy in her eyes and just behind her was an actual angel, wings and all…his brain reeled at the inaccuracy of the thought, that was at best a fallen angle. Carrick. His mind made another bound across to another familiar face looking at him with concern. Shinbo.
~~“Koga! What's wrong?”
**”Koga?”
<<"Koga?"
<<"Somebody. Do we need to get the nurse?"
His mouth moved with out words, a slight moan escaped his lips, the pain manifesting in a steady pain, his fingers weren’t done trying to pull up the carpet. His eyes managed to focus on the trio above him. his mouth opened to bleeding gums.
“I think sssomeone is killing me.” He managed to weez, his body cringed and sent him to rolling to his side and bringing his limbs inward. he coughed and a pair of teeth bobbled out of his mouth, both were his top incisors.
“ Doesss sssomeone have telekinesssisss around here?” he gasped. He still felt the heat building in his skin. He raised his right arm and put his sleeve under his mouth to allow the blood to go there instead of the dark carpet beneath him.
Katrina knelt next to Koga, unsure of exactly what to do to help. Instinctively, she did what her mother always did when she was sick; she put her hand on Koga's forehead. It was hot, which was very strange indeed for the cold blooded boy. When he spoke, Katrina winced both at the blood and the conjecture.
“No,” she shook her head. Not because it wasn't possible, but because she didn't want to believe it was possible that anyone would want to kill Koga. He was just sick and sickness meant he just needed a doctor and he'd be better in no time.
Katrina glanced up to meet the winged boy's gaze with a worried one of her own. “Carrick, go get DocProf. He needs a healer.” Carrick seemed to understand the urgency in her voice and without so much as a sarcastic remark (for once) was rushing down the hallway. He didn't even stop when he knocked over a vase with his wing.
“Help is coming soon,” Katrina crooned softly as she stroked Koga's forehead. If she could have absorbed his pain with her touch, she would have.

>>“I think sssomeone is killing me.”
Shin's heart jumped in his chest. Killing? But who would kill... Koga... that wasn't... nobody would kill Koga. Nobody had something against him, and Shin wouldn't let them. Not even guys with green eyes and knives.
Though, to be fair, that guy had managed to cut him, and that had been a pretty bad situation, and--
Focus, Shin! Teeth.
Koga had lost... a pair of teeth. Two teeth, in fact. Incisors. Would he... be unable to do incising now? Wait. That was a stupid thought.
Koga!!
>>“ Doesss sssomeone have telekinesssisss around here?”
Shin shook his head, then paused. "Well, me. Kinda. And Shana. But neither of us would ever do..." His eyes feel to the bloody incisors. "That."
Oh good, Carrick was getting DocProf. Shin's eyes trailed down the length of the hall. Help couldn't come fast enough. His eyes fell back to Koga. A sick thought hit him.
"Could this be... is it even possible... A power growth? When mine hit me, my eyes... it hurt... I'm not sure how much of that was the Collar from the Camps."
He watched as the angel disappeared leaving him to the care of the mortals, he’d take this pair of mortals of an angelic host any day. his brain attempted to remind him that the boy was as much wicked as kind.
~~“No,” “Help is coming soon,”
Kogas left hand went to one of Katrina’s Knees as he listened to the comforting tones of Katrina and Shin.
<<"Well, me. Kinda. And Shana. But neither of us would ever do..." "That."
“Ok.” He groaned and removed his hand from Katrina’’s knee to once again take out his pain on the carpe, his finger did their best to punish it for exsisting. Arching as all of his knuckles turned white.
<<"Could this be... is it even possible... A power growth? When mine hit me, my eyes... it hurt... I'm not sure how much of that was the Collar from the Camps."
Koga recited dutifully and slowly concentrating on the memory of what he read in a book written by a leading professor of the X genome, his tone was almost detached from the pain that he was experiencing.
“Mutation can and has expresssssed itss sself in variousss waysss among each of it’sss sssubjectssss, particularly in thossse that are gifted.” A cough and a sarcastic laugh escaped him, his arm rose to shield Katrina from the blood. “That are gifted enough to experience mutation in puberty, it hasss been found to manifessst itssself multiple timesss in new and intriguing waysss.”
Koga looked to Shin and nodded slightly just in case that came out less coherent to the pair then it did in his head.
Across Koga’s brow , in multiple spots on his head, on his elbows, down his spine and on his knees, red pin pricks began to appear. Initially, they were simply little dots but eventually like beads of dew on a flower, little red beads built up and then made tiny red stripes reaching for the floor.
Even in the midst of great pain, Koga was able to recite from a text book entry. No wonder he got straight A's.
“Power growths can hurt?” Katrina glanced at Shin for confirmation, her brow knit with worry. “I thought he might have eaten something that gave him food poisoning.”
But food poisoning didn't cause pinpricks of blood to appear on lizard boy's foreheads and make parallel trails down toward the carpet. Why did the mansion have carpet, again? Wasn't that the sort of thing that was fairly easily ruined by pretty much everything from water to mud to blood? Apparently it was handy for grabbing onto, for lizard boys in intense pain. For that reason she was glad for the carpet.
Katrina pulled off her outer layer, a hooded sweatshirt, and folded it into the closest approximation to a pillow shape that she could get.
“Do you want a pillow?” She set it down so Koga could rest his head on it if he wanted. All she really felt like she could do was make him comfortable until DocProf got here. She looked down the hall to see if he was coming yet. Not yet.
She used the sleeve of the shirt to wipe off Koga's forehead as best she could. The fabric snagged a little on something sharp. What?

Shin was silent as Koga recited something he'd read once.
>>“...That are gifted enough to experience mutation in puberty, it hasss been found to manifessst itssself multiple timesss in new and intriguing waysss.”
"That's right..." He added silently. It had come out fine. He returned the weak nod. Then, he looked to Katrina.
>>“Power growths can hurt?”
He nodded.
>> “I thought he might have eaten something that gave him food poisoning.”
Food poisoning, he knew. This wasn't that. "No.
Whatever Koga was going through, it had to do with mutations... it just had to. And he'd be fine after it was over. When it was over... well, what? They'd treat it like ice cream, and get tonsils? Treat it like... He'd gotten that turned around in his worry. It didn't matter, though. Nobody seemed to care. Because now, Koga's body was going through yet another of those 'changes'...
Shin's eyes widened as the little spines budded like beads. The lizard boy gripped the carpet like he was going to fall up towards the ceiling, were it not there.
"Spines...? Lizards sometimes have them..." Shin muttered. Was the kid becoming more like a lizard?! He sure hoped Koga still liked ice cream, and not flies!
“Yesssss.” He hissed out as his hand turned into a fist. He lifted his head so Katrina could shove the Hoodie under his head.
~~“Do you want a pillow?”
“Thanksss.”
<<"Spines...? Lizards sometimes have them..."
“Ssspinesss?” the question was echoed, while his brows furrowed, he hadn’t thought about the fact that this very well could be a journey further away from the humanity he had left. His eyes were the only thing that he hadn’t shifted with color. Though Idly he wondered if that was because he hadn’t tried. He greedily wondered if it would bring him any new talent, and if so what? Was all this pain the worth while harbinger of some new reptilian feat.
His face turned inward to the hoodie and he screamed his tongue was seemingly the next thing to go as his body made the adjustment, that it deemed necessary. This wasn’t so cut and dry as something simply falling out or poking out a red line drew its self half way up his tongue as the sides some, hopefully Katrina hadn’t worn her favorites today because his mutation was doing its best to ruin them.
He turned to the pair and looked at them both at the same time. His right eye at shin and his left at Katrina. The world blurred again as he looked at them and he blinked just not how he was used to blinking. From near his nose came one shudder and from his temples came the other in side ways like sliding doors. They were clear like the caiman and left a protective cover over his eyes and his regular eyelids came down over them. his eyes fluttered sideways and from top to bottom it was a very odd sensation. Not odd enough however to distract him from the ongoing rebellion of the rest of his body.
“I am ssso ssso sssorry.’ He spoke out in a pain riddled whisper .He didn’t mean to bloody her things or mutate in front of them cause the looks of worry to come across their faces. He rarely believed in medicating, if he had a headache, he let his body deal with it, colds were for chicken soup and orange juice, sun burn was for aloe Vera, but he’d be damned if he didn’t want some morphine right now.
The vase could wait the sarcastic comment could wait all he knew was Koga was in trouble and he didn’t want whatever was ailing his reptilian friend to worsen. Which was why the vase wasn’t the only thing he ran into on the way to the Infirmary. Two larger boys cursing in Carrick’s direction as he jumped and opened his wings jumping over the larger boys who seemed it necessary to take up the entire hallway with a raggedy couch. ”Sorry!” Carrick cried out through gasps as his pace quickened till he reached the glass doors of the Infirmary. ”DOC IT”S BAD!” Carrick screamed to get the old man’s attention that immediately dropped everything he was working on.
”What’s wrong? Who’s hurt!?!?” the old doctor asked the winged messenger, ”Koga, Bad ome ‘n” Carrick slurred as he turned around and waved in the direction of where he left Koga and the others. Within minutes Carrick ran past the two boys who were still struggling with the couch. It was the first time Carrick ever witnessed the healer run and despite his age he could still move which he figured had something to do with his ability.
Regardless of whatever the reasoning for the old man’s speed Carrick continued running till he knocked over an older girl who landed on her butt then phased through the floor. ”Sorry!” Carrick said again as he continued to run.
It was a few minutes since he had last seen him and from what he could tell Koga got worse. Small bumps poked out of his body making it look like he had spines… wait, ”Spines?” Carrick asked his breath quickly finding itself as he approached them. ”Doc quick we need an exorcism!” Carrick yelled as he pointed in the direction of Koga.
As Doc ran past Carrick he patted winged one on the head a little more hard than expected. Carrick nodded and understood that jokes were not appropriate at this time. Looking over to Kat who was right by Koga’s side, either they were really good friends or there was something going on between them. He held his tongue and decided not to question what was going on between the two and folded his wings tightly and walked over next to Tetsuya, ”What do you think is happening to him?” his eyes filled with concern as his tail twitched nervously behind him.
It was horrible to watch her friend suffering. It was even worse not being able to do anything to help him. It was as if his own body was torturing him, tearing him up from the inside. The screams, the blood splashing, the pitiful apologies, it was all so heartbreaking.
If only she could take away the pain.
DocProf appeared, huffing to catch his breath. Carrick was shortly behind him, asking what he thought was wrong. The doctor knelt beside Katrina to put his hands on the lizard boy's skin.
Katrina didn't move away. She figured she didn't take up much room and Koga needed someone to stay by his side. DocProf frowned and nothing appeared to happen. Katrina could only send wishful thoughts Koga's way as she watched him squirm under the doctor's touch.
She remembered the numbness of being in the abyss. That was what would really help Koga right now: not feeling anything at all. She closed her eyes. In her mind she imagined numbness all over, as if all of Koga's limbs went to sleep.
Floating in nothingness. Drifting on air. Disconnected.
Katrina couldn't feel that she had collapsed on the floor next to Koga.

>>“Ssspinesss?
Shin's brow furrowed, too. More like a lizard... that was... that was probably pretty tough. And then, Koga was screaming.
Painful, too.
Shin looked around wildly. Where was Carrick? Where was Doc Prof?! They were supposed to be here by now! Koga was hurting. They were supposed to... do something. Stop this, he didn't know how, but they were supposed to.
And Koga's eyes... they weren't supposed to look in two directions like that. Or... blink like that. Oh god. Shin's jaw tightened seriously.
Koga was apologizing, but he didn't need to. This wasn't his fault. He didn't ask for it. His body just did this thing on its own. Just like Shin had never asked for his new eyes. They'd just happened... and at the worst possible time. The worst possible...
Dammit. His heart went out to the kid. Shin's grip tightened on his own knees as he watched. When Doc Prof and Carrick arrived, he turned. He didn't hear what was being said. His mind was locked on Koga's tortured form, and the sounds coming out... when he turned back, he felt faint.
Now, Katrina was out too. Shin cursed. This was bad. He didn't care if the kids heard. He glared at DocProf. His voice wavered.
"Is it working, old man? Tell me. Can what he has be fixed..." Or could they stop it? They had to stop it.
“yessss, pleasssse.” The loud mouth heralded in something that put him slightly at ease if not in less pain, atleast the doc was here, he had been dealing with mutant care for years, if anyone could help him threw it it was him,
And with that he was in oblivion, he hadn’t realized what was going on merely that it was pleasantly going on with out him present. It was like he had been disconnected from his body. Floating in space. This, was nice. His wild grunts of pain and roars of suffering subsided without pause. His body still twitch here or there but was other wise calm.
Somewhere outside of purgatory voices echoed around outside, like someone trying to hold a conversation while you were submerged in a pool and they were completely out of it.
His body continued to make the adjustments it required, the small spikes peeked out from under his skin, but still hidden under the red flesh was the promise of the rest of the pale bone, all along his body accenting his frame with little bits of reptilian spite, alll four sets of his eye lids fluttered about, rapidly attempting to find its most productive alignment. They finally closed like a barrier against light much like his consciousness, they embraces the darkness. His body seemed to settle down as the majority of its demands were met. His tongue was still finding a much more forked look, his eyes were settled if sore. His bones sprouted like plants but the flesh over them still had to repair, his empty tooth sockets set bare and ready for new more dangerous brethren to appear. His body shook slightly as it settled. His skin would lie in wait as it chaffed him over time until it too would align itself with his true nature.
The doctor above him bristled as he looked at the mess before him, He looked over the young man that he was trying to instill a sense of self preservation in, the boy had a wreckless sense of self worth, that while noble was a bit to ready to throw himself away on any cuase and for any thing he dubbed an injustice. He knelt next to the pair of youths sprawled out on the ground and was going to ask Shinbo what was going on as he started to get frantic.
<<"Is it working, old man? Tell me. Can what he has be fixed..."
+“You are sounding a bit like someone who doesn’t understand what it is to be a mutant my boy.” Was the calm reply received from DocProf.
DocProf study the young man for a moment longer before returning to his work. “ you don’t fix what isn’t broken. I can perhaps however make this a bit easier on him. ” he watched in his mind’s eye fascinated by the way Koga’s body attacked itself. His hands began to glow a refreshing golden light over the resilient lizard. His tongue settled into its forked yet sleeker version, his gums healed as much as possible along with the spines and spikes cast about Kogas form. The skin receded slightly and the torn effect mended but his flesh would still recede, and while it did so it would need to be shored up against infection, something that Koga was sure to dislike.
+“I’d say it worked. At least as well as it could, whippersnapper, if I tried much more the flesh would cover his new additions and he’d have to go through that again. Keep an eye on the young man he should be alright, bring him to the infirmary when he comes around, so we can talk.
~~”What do you think is happening to him?”
“his Xgene isn’t done shaping him, I’d wager.” The old man rose off of his knees and looked to Carrick, keep an eye on these three, they look woozy, come get me again if you need to, I’ll write you a hall pass to excuse you from class if needed.”
