The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Aurum, a minx? Amelia, evil plan foiled? Romantic candlelit dinner, usurped!? How could this be!?
Bah.
As the girl walked the halls of her brother's apartment (giving him and his girl plenty of space, mind you), her mind strayed to thoughts. Thoughts of what she could do to salvage the afternoon. Setting up Sveta was out. She hadn't called the girl yet to let her know to come home.
With a casual flick, she opened her phone and dialed a Russian. And got voice mail.
"Hey, Sveta. This is Ami." She said, after the tone. "Hey, this might be a weird request, but don't come home for a while tonight. Aurum... has a date." Was there... distaste in her voice? She was doing Sveta a solid by giving her a heads-up, though. She'd put a sock on the door and everything. "Call first, before you come home. That should let him know to clear her out. And if worst comes to worst, we can have a sleepover. Bye." She hung up.
By now, Amelia had plopped down on a cold concrete stair. She'd found herself in a stairwell, in-between floors.
Hrm... Sveta was handled. Where did that leave her afternoon...?
Well, hey. She could call her boyfriend. Or was it a girlfriend, today?
She dialed. Having cellphones rocked. Someone picked up. "Hey! It's Amelia. Are you busy?" She smiled.
Gawain was being lazy. He was lying in the autumn sunshine on the grass while Angua sniffed around the Mansion grounds, chasing squirrels and picking up sticks. She was fairly huge now. Irish wolfhound sized huge.
The phone chirped.
>> "Hey! It's Amelia. Are you busy?"
The young knight smiled.
"Nah" he answered, glancing at Angua who returned for the sole purpose of sniffing at the cellphone "I'm bein' lazy. Are you? Wanna come over?"
Girlfriends. Need to meet girl-dogs. It was part of the whole dating process.
"Absolutely," she replied in a light, happy voice. "That'd be great." In a slightly darker voice, she added. "Can you pick me up? My older brother has a girl over, and he ruined all my plans."
Poor Sveta. She'd just have to live without the excellent food she had cooked. If you could call that living.
If Gawain asked, she'd explain to him. Or maybe when she got to the mansion? How would she get there? Hopefully, mirrors.
>>"Absolutely. That'd be great. Can you pick me up? My older brother has a girl over, and he ruined all my plans."
"That sucks" he chuckled "Well, probably doesn't suck for him. But. Um. Where do you want me to pick you up?"
Once he got directions, he stodd up from the grass.
"Sure. I'll be there soon" Gawain smiled, and then stuffed the cellphone back into his pocket. Looking around he saw Angua jogging away. He'd let her explore the grounds for now. She couldn't get out anyway, and she needed the exercise. Angua was a lazy puppy.
Half an hour later gawain showed up at Big Brother's apartment, looking for Ami. He walked form mirror to window. It was such a nice, sunny weather outside; made mirrorwalking so much easier...
Amelia was waiting outside, by a car parked by the building's front. There was a revolving door nearby, and various other reflective surfaces lurked. He certainly had his pick.
Leaning against the wall, she considered what she wanted to do today at the mansion. She decided she'd never really done much exploring there. Maybe there were some things Gawain could show her that she couldn't find on her own? Maybe there were some things he could show her that she would prefer seeing with him?
What did Mansion kids do for fun, anyways? She'd have to ask.
She cupped his cheek with her free hand as he leaned in for the kiss, returning it. She was happy to see him. It showed.
"Yeah, I'm ready." She nodded, holding onto his hand.
She followed him forwards, into the mirror.
Another nod. She made a face. "Girl I've never met. Seems nice." 'Nice' wasn't good for her plans, though. All the more reason to make the face. "But sounds like everything worked out nicely, if we're spending the entire day together," She grinned. "Who is this 'someone?'" She added curiously, tilting her head.
"Just nice, huh" he grinned as they walked from one mirror to another "Ya're not going to sabotage this, are you? Give big brother a break, he deserves it."
It was a Gawain day. He felt like he needed to put in a good word for Aurum.
>>"But sounds like everything worked out nicely, if we're spending the entire day together," She grinned. "Who is this 'someone?'"
"You'll see" he grinned again, and refused to say anything else until they reached the Mansion.
Walking out of a reflecting window, he let go of Ami's hand.
"Welcome to the mansion, once again." he smiled at her, then put two fingers in his mouth to whistle. Somewhere from a remote corner of the garden, barking came as an aswer, followed by Angua running at full speed. With her weight and size, it was quite an intimidating sight...
>>"Ya're not going to sabotage this, are you? Give big brother a break, he deserves it."
Amelia kept smiling. Well, technically... she had. Already. And it had only taken a minute. Leaving people with a romantic candlelit dinner for two and calling them 'lovebirds' usually did that. Unless... heaven forbid... Aurum and Riley actually WERE lovebirds, in which case. Ew.
But ultimately, everything had worked out nicely. Sabotage plus a date with a boy. Yup. It was all coming up roses.
Gawain wasn't just going to tell her who the someone was. Amelia made a pouty face, faking it mostly, then smiled. "Okay."
During the silence of the journey, he left her hanging. Just a lot of questions, no answers. No fair.
Finally, he said something, as they exited the mirror.
He whistled. She looked around.
From out of nowhere came a dog. A big dog. Amelia was not afraid of big dogs. As long as they were friendly, she didn't have a problem. The same went for most animals. She wasn't one to squeal at snakes or flinch at spiders. Sharks were ****ing cool.
Amelia didn't budge or make any shocked movements as the dog came towards them. She did do one thing, though. She dropped down to a crouch, with hands extended, gesturing for the dog to come her way.
"Here, boy." She beamed, as the very not-a-boy dog barreled at them.
Ami was not afraid. Gawain grinned, watching her. Crouching down was a good idea... except, now she was smaller than the dog.
"Girl" he corrected her "Her name is Angua."
Said dog barked happily - she was still just a fairly big puppy - and hit Ami at full speed, knocking her off her feet to commence licking her face all over, great paw on her chest. She was happy to see the female person who had Gawain's scent all over her. That was smiple in a doggy mind.
"Angua!" Gawain growled, pulling on the collar "Get off her!"
>>"Girl" Gawain corrected her "Her name is Angua."
"Angua? Discworld?" Her eyes tilted up and to the side, at Gawain's face.
Bad idea, taking her eyes off the big dog. Like a great wolf, Angua took her down. Obviously, Amelia was popular with the ladies. Angua planted sloppy kisses all over her. All Amelia could do was laugh.
Of course she would know. She was a nerd. Gawain grinned. Angua kept expressing her happyness over making a new female human friend.
>>"Wasn't counting on a bath today, but okay."
"Angua! Back off!" he finally managed to pull the dog off mi, not by strength but by training - the obedient puppy she was, she allowed herself to be pulled away and sat, wagging her tail furiously. Gawain offered a hand to Ami to help her up.
"Sorry. I'm gonna show you to the bathroom to wash the drool off" he chuckled "I think she likes you."
>>"Think I prefer your kisses over hers. Sorry, Angua."
Angua understood. And jogged off to sniff around the mansion grounds some more. She was patrolling. You could say that.
>>"Nice dog. So. What else did you have planned for today? Because I've got an idea or two."
That was just too good a chance to ignore.
"Well, I do too" he grinned a cocky grin, leaning in to steal another kiss, pulling her closer by the waist. You can't blame a teenage guy for trying...
Yes, you couldn't blame a teenage guy for trying... or you could!
Amelia chuckled, head bowed, staring at his chest. She'd returned the kiss, but... "Not quite what I had in mind." She said with a small smirk. She idly traced a circle on that chest.
Some girls might get tired of getting pulled into sudden kisses, with absolutely no warning. Amelia could deal with that. A little surprise now and then was nice, pending mood. Her mood was elsewhere.
"Think you could show me how to use a bow and arrow...?" She quested. Her eyes met his in a look to which not many could say 'no'. "And tell me, what else do you mansion kids do for fun?" It couldn't be all kissing and cuddling, could it? That was nice (in theory), but too much might get old.
